SANTORIS HISTORY

Originally, Santoris was nothing more than an island full of luscious plants and pokemon alike who were living in a natural oasis.

As most paradises though, this one was destroyed by the evil known as human greed.

Five hundred years ago, vikings heard of the land that lay atop crystal blue waters with pokemon for miles and miles. They trapped the Pokemon for themselves, destroying the wildlife along with it. Santoris was nearing its end, but then suddenly the water was bluer than before, the Pokemon had begun to come back, everything was better than the original oasis that these vikings destroyed, all thanks to Celebi and the legendary beasts.

Now here we are in present day Santoris, a beautifully growing region with towns and cities built into cliffs and connected by bridges or short boat rides. There are four main islands: Athenia, Mykora, Pythiana and Delphia.

Each island has a statue of one of Santoris' saviors: Entei on Athenia, Raikou on Mykora, Suicune on Pythiana and Celebi on Delphia. Every ten years, the citizens of the Santoris region hold a festival in order to thank their Pokemon saviors. This event draws thousands of tourists because of all of the events being held.

From a 24 hour championship battle to the world’s largest Pokemon Contest to a music festival, there’s always something fun during the week of worship. Even more interesting though, this year marks exactly five hundred years since these legendary beings saved Santoris. Some are hoping they might make an appearance to accept the offerings and worship these people and Pokemon have to offer.
WHERE IT ALL BEGAN

Places

There are four islands of the Santoris region; Athenia, Mykora, Pythiana and Delphia. Each island has a statue of one of Santoris' saviors: Entei on Athenia, Raikou on Mykora, Suicune on Pythiana and Celebi on Delphia.

Athenia; The least populated of the islands, Athenia is known for its gravelled roads and cobblestone paths throughout the minimal forests it does have. During the Santoris festival, this island is where you can find the 24 hour Pokemon championship, a set of battles that last 24 hours due to all of the entries. With locations such as Mountbase town, Ash City and Rook town, this island is far from a paradise.

Instead of traveling through trees and brush, many go through a large volcanic cave, the Metamorphic trail. It’s been said some have seen the legendary Entei on this path, though it is dangerous so it’s not recommended you travel it alone. However, if you’d like to battle the island’s gym leader, Arielle, you have to get through the challenging trail.

Mykora; Dedicated to Raikou, Mykora is your standard island. There’s a small beach that the locals will go to off the edge of Sunbreech City, but other than that it’s hikes up and down mountains to get you to the other side of the island and onto the gym leader’s match with Myron who specializes in electric types.

Most of the towns on Mykora are built into mountain sides, except for their one big city, Sunbreech, which is where the Santoris shopping district is. During the festival, tourists come here to shop for gifts and souvenirs for themselves and loved ones, so many locals work down in Sunbreech during this time.

Pythiana: A beautiful and beachy island, Pythiana is just what you’d expect when you hear the words ‘island paradise’. Featured on all of Santoris’ brochurse, Pythiana is a mix of towns and cities that are overshadowed by the multiple beach clubs on each corner of the island. Phythiana calls tourists even in the off season without the festival and that’s why Santoris has become such a popular vacation destination.

Being that it’s the furthest away from the rest of the islands, it has to be assumed it has the toughest gym leader in Para, the ice and water type specialist. Even if you aren’t there to challenge the gym leader though, Oceanblue City has one of the world’s biggest contest halls and is a beacon for coordinators from all over, especially during the Santoris Festival.

Delphia; Finally, there’s the island dedicated to the legendary being Celebi. While Delphia doesn’t have a gym leader and isn’t part of the gym challenge, you can battle with the island elder, Elyssia to earn an amulet with a pressed flower straight from the garden of harmony, where Celebi is said to live. As for the Santoris festival, this is where the big music festival takes place, directly in the center of Strivion Town.

The locals look forward to the event whenever the festival happens, but the real beauty of Delphia is Celebi’s home, the Garden of Harmony. The legend is that Celebi grew out the lush greenery with flowers never before seen in other regions after saving Santoris from the vikings all those years ago.

Team Eclipse

An evil team focused on finding the legendary Pokemon, Celebi, and using its powers of time travel. Led by Donovan Mathers, a descendant of one of the vikings who sought to control Santoris long ago, his goals rely on a strong team surrounding him. Team Eclipse is much more serious than other evil teams we’ve seen in games and anime.

Their main goal is to rule over the beautiful Santoris region and eventually the world, so capturing and controlling Celebi is number one on their priority list. However, another mission given to those below Eclipse’s leader, is to collect the mythical Pokemon before they create a sacred bond with their prophesied trainer.

Donovan seeks to control, not only Celebi, but also the six mythical Pokemon spoken of in the prophecy. If he can use their sacred power, then he can summon the legendary beasts and control them as well, making his dreams of controlling the world that much more of a reality.

Sacred Bonds

Sacred Bonds and the ‘Bonded Move’ are the Santoris Region’s dynamaxing/mega evolution/z-move equivalent. Talked of only in the past, no trainer has been able to obtain this type of move with their Pokemon for quite some time.

Elyssia believes it’s because only the mythicals and their chosen partners can use the bonded move, however it’s all just hearsay and no one knows the truth behind it.

While initially thought only to work with the mythical beings and the chosen 6 as part of the prophecy, it will be revealed in Arc 3 that any trainer with a strong enough bond with a Pokemon can use a bonded move
