Situated remote and away from general civilisation, the Facility is a slab of concrete in the midst of the unforgiving moors. A road, akin to a valley, slides onward for miles. The black tarmac is thick with ice at night and in a constant state of dampness during the day. The Facility is remote for a reason; the location a secret amongst the moor's human villages, unknown to even those who have lived in the closest village for generations. No one would agree with the goings on inside; the Facility's experiments are not limited to canines, but also to rodents, small birds and small primates.

There is whispers running through the staff of it being close to being shut down. In fact, the rumours are true: in around fourteen days from the main characters great escape, the laboratory will be closed for good and the dogs and other animals will be released into sanctuary. This is ironic, however. Due to the fact that this information is foreign to the dogs and if they stuck a bit longer, perhaps their journey will be unnecessary. However, would they even be able to survive the treatment for that much longer?
