Realistic or Modern Petals in the Wind

Clink!

The sound of glass bottles clinking together echoed from her bedroom and throughout the hallway. Kassandra had woken early this morning for she has a lot to do in the flower shop today. She glances over at her intricately-built bedroom window, noticing blue morning light peeking through her sheer curtains. A gasp escapes her lips, for this beautiful light was an indication that she should probably hurry to get ready. She is to bring the glass bottles in to be used for making specialty perfume, and she is also expected to meet a woman named Aurora. This woman is the assistant for a bride-to-be, and is supposedly delivering one hundred bouquets of white roses for the momentous wedding. Kassandra will be helping her load the delicate flowers, and does not want to be late. She tucks a few strands of hair behind her ear, and grabs her duct tape to seal the box she is using to store the glass bottles in. Her lips shape a soft smile, and hazel eyes show a subtle sense of accomplishment. She rises, holding the box to her body, and makes way for her kitchen. Setting the box atop the countertop, she takes a moment to scan the dreary kitchen space. Her plans to redesign the kitchen have been put on hold, simply because she lacks the proper funds. The walls are to be painted an offset white, with pastel yellow trim and accents. Old appliances are to be replaced with coral-colored ones, and she wants to install floral curtains to compliment the window over the sink. With a gentle sigh, Kassandra glances at the flower-shaped clock on the wall. Her eyes widen as she realizes she must hustle, for the clock reads 5:35 A.M. and she is supposed to arrive at Gigi's Flower Shop roughly twenty minutes before the shop opens at seven-o-clock.

Kassandra glides into her bathroom, removes her silk pajamas and takes a quick shower. Once she dries herself off, she steps into her walk-in closet and picks out a Grecian-style dress that is a soft pink color with thin, black straps. It is flowy and not form-fitting, a particular style of dress she likes to wear during the spring season. She slips the garment on, the fabric reaching just below her knees. A pair of dark, ruby red high heels practically call to her, so she places them outside the closet door to put on later. Peering into her now unfogged mirror, she does a slight twirl, admiring how the dress compliments her upper body. She debates for a few moments if she is going to apply body glitter, but opts not to. Using her green towel to dry her brunette hair more, she hums a melodic tune before draping the towel over the glass shower door.

Walking into her bedroom, she makes sure her Coach lavender-colored purse has all of her essentials inside. She checks her phone, and can't help but notice her grey nail polish is beginning to chip. Rolling her eyes, she scrolls through her text messages and decides to text Aurora.

'Good morning, Aurora! I will be at Gigi's to greet you, just like we planned. ;)'

Throwing her phone in her bag, she then presumes to get ready. Pulling a sequin make-up bag from her bathroom drawer, she applies a face brightening cream first. Then, a clear lip gloss with SPF 30 in its creamy content. With a clear mascara tool, she applies it to her already thick lashes and uses the tool to help define her eyebrows. Kassandra rarely wears make-up, unless she is attending a formal occasion or going out on a date. Zipping the make-up bag, she decides to take it with her and puts it in her purse. Although her hair is still damp, she doesn't have time to let it finish drying. She puts her hair into a bun, and uses a golden leaf hair accessory to hold her hair in place. It reminds her of Emma Watson's beautiful look in Beauty and the Beast when she and the Beast perform their glorious dance.

With her look complete, Kassandra slips her heels on, grabs her purse, and also her keys with a Clefable trinket attached. Her heels make familiar sounds as she walks down her hallway and into her kitchen. She slings the back over her shoulder, picks up the box of glass bottles, and heads out the heavy door. As she passes by her neighbor, she offers the elderly man a grin and proceeds into the parking garage of her apartment complex. Upon finding her old, sky blue Volkswagon, she sets the box on the passenger seat and starts the vehicle. Driving out of the garage, the young florist finds herself at Gigi's Flower Shop within ten minutes.

The April air smells of ocean water, and as she enters the flower shop the familiar smell of seasonal flowers seems to calm her. Placing the box behind the counter, she then makes sure the pretty white roses will be ready for Aurora upon her arrival. Waiting for Aurora to arrive, she goes behind the service counter and picks up a bag of sour candies. She keeps them here whenever she craves sweets, and pops a few in her mouth. Noticing Aurora pull up, she puts the sweets away and opens the door to greet the woman.

Aurora is dressed in bell bottom jeans, and a pastel green tank top with very thin straps. Her dirty blonde hair may be damaged, but it is bouncy and frames her face nicely. She waves at Kassandra before opening the back doors to her black BMW. The lipliner she chose doesn't really compliment her face very well, but this is an opinion Kassandra chooses to keep to herself.

"Hello, miss! I presume the brides flowers are ready?" she asks.

Kassandra nods, having several of the bouquets in her grasp already. "Yes. I love your jeans, by the way."

The two of them proceed to load the wondrous arrangements of roses into Aurora's shiny new car. While they hardly exchanged conversation, Aurora reaches into her pocket and hands Kassandra a twenty dollar bill. "Thank you, dear. She will love these. I wish you a good day."

"Thank you, Aurora!"

Watching as the big-haired woman drives away, she notices the tattoo parlor across the way. She has been curious about the establishment, but has yet to venture inside. Certain quotes she has considered putting on her body, quotes of encouragement that express on the beauty of life. With a shrug, she enters the flower shop and flips the closed sign to open, then awaits the arrival of her boss.
