Part 1: The background

The Kirijo Group is a globally operating multinational trading company. It is said to be involved with almost every aspect of daily life and finding someone that doesn't know the Kirijo Group is virtually impossible. After the passing of Takeharu Kirijo due to an unknown reason, his daughter, Mitsuru Kirijo had taken on the mantle as the head of the group.

That was all the public eye knew about the Kirijo group. But if this was all there is, then it must be quite a disappointing story, wouldn't it? The Kirijo had many sections operating in different fields. One of these fields would be the interest of Shadows and their powers. One fatal experiment would lead to the death of many and unleashed shadows onto the general population. Even though the tower known as Tartarus is no more, it seems as if the Kirijo group is fated to dabble into the topic of shadows.

While S.E.E.S is no more, Mitsuru Kirijo had taken it upon herself to be the founder of a new group. The "Shadow Operatives." An unofficial section of the police backed by the Kirijo Group, the purpose of the Shadow Operatives is to hunt Shadows and deal with Persona related activity. (Persona 4 Arena if you need more context) It has been nearly ten years after the fall of Tartarus, and it is now the current day of 2021. The group had gained and lost members over the years, but the goal remains the same.

"Our primary objective is the destruction of Shadows."
-Aigis

Some of the founding members would be set to reserved status, after all, they would have their own career along with other life demands, but they would still be called for emergencies.

At least, that was the plan. It would appear that a few of the reserved members, such as Yukari, Ken, and Junpei. After radio silence from their friends and former partners, the remaining operators would be sent out to investigate their disappearance and check up on them. Every member that went out to investigate would follow the same fate. Strangely enough, even members that are no longer a part of the group would be missing, almost as if anyone that is associated with the group is a target. This event would severely cripple the entire group, as a large portion of the entire group would be missing. Mitsuru, after feeling responsible for this mystery, would go out on her own and search. Unfortunately, the third time was in fact, not the charm. With most of the Persona users missing, it became much more difficult to control Shadows appearing in the city. Whatever this threat was, it seemed to be targeting the Shadow Operatives. While this small hunch grew in the remaining members, a massive explosion would be created in their Tokyo headquarters, and every single member would be confirmed as missing. What an unfortunate turn of events. Very unfortunate indeed, at least for whoever wanted to stop the Shadow Operatives. Two members, which worked closely with Mitsuru, would have made it out. They have retreated to the outskirts of the bustling city and transformed an abandoned bar into their new hideout. They have not made their status clear to the Kirijo group in order to hide away from the threat of finding out. Both members, wounded to a point where they cannot fight, would fall into a hopeless situation. No fight left to fight and no life left to live. They were as good as dead.

One of the surviving members, Mr. Fujiwara was an instructor for a secondary job. After all, the Kirijo group was integrated into EVERY aspect of Tokyo. Teaching an upper-class homeroom, and an idea sparked in his head. As much as he hated the idea of subjecting his students to the dangerous life of shadows, they only had one option if they wished to save their comrades. A new generation of heroes would need to be born to face this new threat. Too bad, that these unsung heroes would have to operate in the shadows just as the remnant of the Shadow Operatives. Akin to thieves, spies, ninjas, and other forms of evasive tactics, these poor souls must play their cards carefully if they wish to protect their families, friends, and of course, their social status. This is no beast feat, even for the most skilled operators.

Part 2: The Present

Combat

It is unclear how Shadows and Persona users evolve over time, but there are key differences. No longer do Persona users rely on evokers or cards to bring out their persona. In this climate, it is a matter of life and death, and the world is not kind enough for supportive classes such as navigators or healers. As a result, persona users will unlock a specialized weapon upon awakening their persona that represents one’s inner psyche. Whether it be a sword, club, sniper rifle, or hell, even a rocket launcher! The weapon is unique for the individual and only that individual. The weapon reflects both the persona, and the controller’s heart. While support classes still exist, every persona user has the means to fight. Such as a navigator acting as a sniper, or a healer still having knives to defend themselves when alone. But how does one reveal their weapon? The weapons can be activated by the usage of their phones. With one click of a button, the phone will transform into the weapon of choice and it will allow you to engage in battle. With the power of a personal weapon, users will also gain armor. This armor comes from your Persona, which will surround the user as defense, and you become your persona.

Shadows
Shadows have seemed to evolve as well. With the rapid technological age overtaking the world over the years, Shadows have taken on a new form. After all, A shadow is a representation of your inner self. What better way is it to project a shadow as one's online presence? After all, everyone has their own facade on the internet, whether it be social media, a dating site, or just texting. All the feelings, information, conversations, and other data can build up. With the right circumstances, a shadow is born. On rare occasions, the bitterness and fear that one can collect would feed a shadow, and could result in the creation of a Hub.

Hubs
A Hub, similar to a palace or the manifestations in a TV world, would contain an individual’s shadow that is out of control. Their phone would become their primary hotspot, and it would create a radius around the phone that is relatively the size of a classroom. This Hub would be some sort of gateway into a new world. This world would be a form of cyberspace that is the collective data of the individual. The surrounding area would seem as if one is inside virtual reality, with assets and structures that reflect the individual’s history and feelings. Anyone who touches this field, and would step inside, would unknowingly enter the person's hub, and get attacked by shadows. Once a hub appears, it is imperative that it must be closed right away. To close it, one must defeat the shadow residing inside, and rescue the victim originally trapped.
Since the hub is a form of cyberspace that is secure by shadows, Humans are usually seen as an intruder or a virus. In order to hide one’s presence, Persona users are able to envelop their entire body into a suit that represents their persona. Essentially, The body and the persona are no longer separated, and you are now one with the Persona.

Humans are unable to perceive the hubs unless they accidentally step into one. In a case like this, they may get attacked by shadows unless they escape the hub area by stepping out of it. Once out, they will lose all memories of the hub unless they are a personal user.

Part 3: The Journey

This will be a roleplay loosely based on the premise of the Shadow Operatives from the fighting game, however, we will not be using existing characters or existing plots too much. That was the goal, but unfortunately I don't have the permission to post there, and I have no idea how to get that permission

Can't get a VPN and my parents won't let me have a phone. Although... maybe I could try to sneak around on my PlayStation's web browser~
