• "Where the hell is everyone else? There were entire herds of people out there, and I'd think that they'd want to help us solve this trouble!"

  "Beats me!" Tani replied simply, shrugging in uncertainty. Still, it 'is' odd - there were tons upon tons of people out there, and they're not even bothering to help. Well, someone's gotta do it, but why aren't 'they' helping? Tani groans and shakes her head before Samus continued.
  

  "We could find something that points us to the temperature terrorist up there. I wish I could help you scope it out, but it seems that I'm the only one who can safely remove the device." She carefully scooped Tani up with her free hand, then lifted her towards the hatch. "If you're still up there after we've dealt with this, then I will join you as soon as I'm able. Call out whatever you find up there. Good luck."

  Tani would listen and understand - her job is to scope this thing out after entering the hatch and vocalise what she finds - until the others can fix the rest of the problem. Tani nodded and grabbed onto the edge of the hatch - and would make an attempt to enter it, of course. If that succeeds, she stood up inside the hatch and began exploring. "Yup, yup! Leave it to me!" Tani called out in response, and off she goes to try and find anything of importance on the inside. Who knows, maybe she 'will' find something vital in there, if anything at all!

The energy grapple was starting to warm up where it had latched on and Samus to feel the construct's cling to the boiler weakening. If her grapple could withstand a hard pull without fizzling out she would probably be able to get it free herself if she tugged hard enough. The room's temperature is still continuing to get colder though and it's getting to the point that everybody in the room could feel a stinging sensation in their skin as frostbite is starting to set in.

The hatch above is thick insulated metal with a big red handle for opening. It looks like it would normally be very difficult for someone small like Tani to open but thankfully because it wasn't closed properly the last time it was used all it takes is a small nudge for the hatch to fall open. It looks like it would normally be very difficult for someone small like Tani to open but thankfully because it wasn't closed properly the last time it was used all it takes is a small nudge for the hatch to fall open.   "Alright, let's see..." Tani would make her way in after nudging the hatch open and glance around before she did anything at all - but regardless, she was inside of the shaft and in no way was she not going to use this for something - she's got a task to do! She would quickly make note of the trapped ladder and groaned a little, though not too much later, she would rout her sights to up above. "...Ooh, what's up here?" Tani voiced that she found the faint light up above at the top of the ladder - but she needs to get up there! No problem - the fact it's folded up allowed her to try! Tani took her time to climb up the ladder, slowly and carefully, as she was further up - ladder step by ladder step. "May have found something - hold on, everyone!" She called out to the others, not actually sure if she 'had' found anything, but hey, a girl can dream.

Fortunately, someone else came to help. Unfortunately, she was only a few inches tall. Fortunately again, this meant that it would be child’s play for her to sneak around in the maintenance shaft, which meant Takemi wouldn’t have to do it... hopefully. Tani was mostly acting as a scout. Takemi turned back to the task at hand.

Well, they’d done all they could to prepare. All that was left was to rip this thing off. Takemi moved the bucket in between her and the construct and wrapped her hands around the sparking grapple-beam. She grimaced at the heat, or maybe it was the cold; her ears were already bright red from it.

“Ready when you are,” she said, glancing over her shoulder at Samus, “L-let’s hurry this up…”

"Shit..." Samus could feel the grapple beam beginning to fizzle out. With the frostbite climbing up her hide, she knew that she couldn't afford to let the bond break. "One! Two! Three!" With her free hand tightly gripping the Arm Cannon, Samus pulled as strongly as she felt she could without the beam breaking.

First the portal. Let's get that over with. It really doesn't matter what Cindy was doing because what she was doing was not very important in the long run. Anyway, portal happens, Cindy gets sucked in, yada yada yada. Good, we got that over with.

The first Cindy felt upon waking up was the cold hard ground underneath her feet. And the first thing she saw was a large metal shaft, like a cavern above her. She stood up, immediately, and gained her composure. Where was she? She remembered that she was "home" if the Fairy Kingdom she was in counted as home then a portal appeared and sucked her in? And now she was here? In this place? Still six inches tall unfortunately, she can tell from the lightness of her bones and the weight of the wings on her back. The third thing she noticed that there was a hard, horrible blizzard thrusting itself against her, insanely cold and freezing. She immediately shivered, her teeth shattering.

"Fuck my life!"

With the sound of groaning metal the icy construct detaches from the boiler and the cold air coming from it immediately starts to lessen. Just in time too as Samus's grapple beam fizzles out and the construct starts to fall towards the bucket that was set out for it. Things don't go flawlessly according to plan though, as when the construct lands it attaches onto the side of the bucket and immediately Ice starts to spread from the construct again, this time going down and spreading out across the floor. In a moment everyone who was standing in the room immediately had their feet frozen in place as Ice began to build up around them and continue spreading upwards until reaching about knee height. The construct was free from the boiler but without being destroyed it was still causing problems.

Polaria - Up the maintenance shaft, Tani

As Tani continued to climb she could see where the light was coming from. Another hatch, like the one she just came through, was at the top of the ladder and seemed to be already open. Coming up to the top Tani would find herself in a room with pipes and dials all across the walls and a toolbox in a corner of the room. On the far side of the room was a door that seemed to lead to the storm outside, on closer inspection it would appear as if the lock had been forced open earlier. The floor had some thin spots of ice right near the bottom edge of the door.

Polaria - In the blizzard

Cindy appeared in the middle of the raging blizzard, but it still hadn't gotten to white-out levels quite yet. Upon looking around she saw footprints going through the snow. If she looked towards where they were coming from she would see they come from some sort of concrete shack off in the distance. If she looked at where they were going she'd see they go through a small pass between some rocky hills and on the far side of that would be a tall and short figure standing in the distance, silhouetted by the snow.

It was a miracle! The device came off! "We are victorious!" Samus announced, as she flicked her beam into the bucket. "Now all we need is to take this apart, and-What the!?" It was continuing to spread ice, and faster than they could react! Ice climbed up to Samus's knee pads, keeping her glued in place. "...Fantastic." She grunted. Her Arm Cannon had gone out, and all she could do was struggle to get it working again before they were completely encased.

LOCATION: NEON HAVEN; POLAR CAP (BOILER ROOM)

Mission successful…, almost. They’d gotten the think contained, but, as to be expected, that didn’t spell the end of their troubles. Takemi let out a yelp as the ice spread out, and she reflexively stepped back, only for the ice to wrap itself around her legs. Her face contorted from the stabbing pain,

“ahhh, shit shit shit. Godamn that hurts!”

She had to focus. Of course, they’d have to destroy this thing; that had been the plan all along. Samus’s gun was malfunctioning again, and Takemi was really wishing Yuzuki and her fire was here right now! She’d’ve been really helpful keeping everything from freezing over right now although she’d probably freeze a lot easier too because of how thin she was but now wasn’t the time to be thinking of all that.

It was all down to Takemi now. In between ragged, foggy breaths, she forced the image of her Persona to the forefront of her mind, sluggish as it was. With effort, she made the image of the Magician Tarot appear behind her, which shattered to form the Horse-headed figure of Gamigin. Cracklings of electricity jumped from each spike on the Persona’s morning-star, and, at Takemi’s command, and a swing of the weapon, a mid-sized bolt fell from it towards the ice-construct.

In an instant the construct was shattered by the impact and the ice that was freezing everyone in place flew out in crystalline shards before dissipating mid-air. The room no longer felt unnaturally cold and it seems like the situation had been resolved with minimal damage to the room or the boiler. Things were still quite chilly, but they started improving as the boiler flaired back to life. The ladder that had been frozen in place also slid down to it's unfolded position.

With the boiler issue resolved down below Tani heard a thud as the ladder she climbed up unfroze itself and fell to the floor. The room she was in started to get noticeably warmer as well.

Samus tried to punch through the ice. No luck.

Then she tried kicking her way out. Still no dice.

Mashing her Arm Cannon against it would just damage the cannon even further.

Using a Super Missile would probably blow her to bits.

But would enough regular missiles break her out?

"Shit...Takemi, are you resilient against explosions?" Samus sighed, flipping through her arsenal. "I don't like what I'm about to do, but it's my last resort. Unless you...Woah!" Without warning, Takemi summoned some kind of creature! It was unlike anything Samus had faced before, making her thankful that it was on their side. It summoned what looked to be a throwing star made of electricity, then threw it at the device, which didn't stand a chance.

As soon as the icemaker was defeated, the room became comfortable. "Ah, that is such an improvement. Well done, Takemi." Samus purred coolly, as she brushed frost off her legs. "Now, for the other thing on my mind..."

She hastily departed the Maintenance Room, sifting through the masses, searching for her friends. She stormed the complex like an elephant, silent but desperate, until her search led her back to where she'd started. She probably didn't, but Samus felt like she had looked for hours. She didn't see Kazooie's feathers, or hear Isabelle's bells. "...They're gone..." She murmured, leaning against the wall. "What if they found a way home without me...What if I was just hallucinating...What if they were ghosts? Either way, I'm alone in this world once more..." With a sigh, she rolled herself into her Morph Ball.

To Cindy, the footsteps might as well be from a giant, and the figures in the distance were most definitely human-sized. She didn't much take to human-sized people, reminded her of what she lost. She didn't bother walking toward the figures, it would take forever for her size. At her command, her ice wings started to flutter and then with effortless grace, she took off and started to fly toward the figures!

• As Tani continued to climb she could see where the light was coming from. Another hatch, like the one she just came through, was at the top of the ladder and seemed to be already open. Coming up to the top Tani would find herself in a room with pipes and dials all across the walls and a toolbox in a corner of the room.   Upon Tani's arrival there, she would glance around at her surroundings. Good news, she found something - bad news, she has no idea what she's doing. Normally, she would have tampered with the dials until something changed, but before she could even do anything amid thinking instead, a berth of heat was 'granted' into the room she stood it, gasping. "Hot damn! Whatever you guys did down there, it's nice and warm up here!" She called down loudly and proudly, before being cut off by a 'thud' of a falling ladder, startling the doll of whom yelped in surprise.
  

  With the boiler issue resolved down below Tani heard a thud as the ladder she climbed up unfroze itself and fell to the floor. The room she was in started to get noticeably warmer as well.

  "Right, so it's warm in here now, but I want to assume it's not gonna be changing the outside that quickly..." She thought as she glanced to the half-open door - dare she risk it? The ice around it would melt soon enough, but if she opens it, she's risking freezing herself, wiping out all of this heat, and probably making a bigger mess. She shook her head and instead opted to look around some more, in case there was anything else causing a problem of any substance or volume - who knows, there might be something else.

As the construct shattered beneath her power, and warmth returned to the room, and the ice holding her in place weakened, Takemi fell back to the floor.

“Thank goodness,” she sighed, letting her face fall into her knees before she started massaging the feeling back into her legs. For the moment, she let herself focus on breathing, drawing in the heated air as slowly and deeply as her body would allow. She couldn’t just sit here for long though; there was still the matter of who had placed this construct.

Samus had gone off looking for more people, and all they’d heard from Tani was that the heat was back on in her area too. Takemi pushed herself up, and walked over to the ladder, calling up through the shaft.

“Hey! Is there anything else up there?”

Looking up at it again, with the benefit of not being in a rush, the tunnel didn’t look too bad. She could see the light from the other room from here. Of course, if there was nothing actually up there, then there was no reason for her to bother, right?

Looking around the room Tani was able to find a small collection of 350 credits that had fallen behind the toolbox on the ground but in terms of clues all she could see were the icy footprints that have started to melt again and the fragments of what had been the lock for the door to the outside. On closer inspection of the lock it looked like someone had flash-frozen it and then shattered it with something hard to get in.

As things started to warm back up, faint sounds of celebration could be heard back in the direction of the main hall. With the boiler back up and running again, Hazor1010 would probably like to thank the people who saved Polaria from what could have been a disaster. Alternatively you could try to follow the lead that Tani seems to have found with the footprints to possibly find out more about the identity

As Cindy continued to follow the foot prints in the snow, she'd come across a clearing where several frost trolls had recently been defeated. Jak and Daxter stood off to the side looking at the same building Cindy had seen in the other direction, but there was also another set of footprints heading past the clearing and off into the distance.

She was quietly pacing to herself outside of the room, after watching the others enter she realized she didn't really know what to say when they caught the person behind it, shivering a bit thinking over how she was going to do it, and finally, she collected herself, took a few deep breaths and dramatically opened the door "Evildoer! I- oh..." she looked around into the room realizing that everything seemed to be fine, and nothing at all was wrong in the boiler...or at least anymore since the two seemed a bit winded and also the one in strange orange armor would walk past her outside as if they were searching for someone, either way realizing there wasn't a tied-up person or a corpse of one...that means the person who caused this mess could still be out and about! she looked around to see what method would be best for where they could have run off and her eyes locked onto the ladder, of which she would head over to "Alright then! Since you seemed to handle the heat problem, I shall attempt to pursue the person themself" and with that, she would make the climb up the maintenance shaft up to the room and once again, looking around for any clue her eyes landed on the icy footprints...that also seemed to lead outside, that'll be cold to deal with but sometimes it isn't easy to live like a hero! she also spotted Tani and realized backup, even as small as she was, would be nice so while heading over to the door to mentally prepare herself for going out into the cold, she looked to the doll "It seems they went out this door! and with the current problem fixed, would you like to come with me to search for the person who caused this?"​

"Hmm!" She flies up some more to get some height. Maybe this person can tell me what's going on? Where I am?

Fancy pants after getting his cinnamon bun and promptly eating it rather quickly...how did he even do that without a mouth? nonetheless, he headed back to the group, overhearing something about how weapons could only be carried if you had a license? then again he was also hearing this from the question of if they couldn't carry them cause she was a girl which...sounded really dumb. he would very fancily brandish his own pen from behind his back, and glance it over. They couldn't take away his important tool! he really would need that license maybe, or to just be careful for where he took it out, quickly glancing around for any of the more police looking people before placing the pen behind his back again and out of sight, again it was strange yet done fancely. The ghost got his attention once more and although it was hard to tell he gave a glare to the ghost, he didn't really like the sort of act this guy was pulling, and his bad guy vibes were really going off, but he kept to himself about it, no need to start a scene right here and now...otherwise they might lock him up and that will be the end of his adventures! his attention then came to the other girl with some weapons and looking between the two...the tools they had with them looked pretty cool! sure, he would be the fanciest sword wielder around he bet they could use what they had in great ways too! and then another person came to the others with some strange red on them, of which at first he assumed was normal but when the boy both looked shocked and also started sparking? he leaned back in surprise, it made him realize that red of that kind was probably not good, and not good either meant hurt or bad, so he would just keep himself ready for if this person really wanted to start something here​

Samus would only muse to herself from within her busted-up ball. The pitch darkness, the way she was folded up...It was fitting, really. "There must be some reason the others returned home, but I didn't. But while I'm stranded here, the others could be in ever escalating danger. Even Mario was gone, and if he followed Banjo and Isabelle...Oh, I can only hope that Palutena knows what to do." Palutena was probably nurturing whoever else made it back right now, possibly seconds before some other catastrophe struck...

Evelyn's jabbering got Samus out of her wallowing for the time being. "Right, I promised that tiny one that I would join her as soon as I could. And I should be here for SOMEone..." She rolled back into the Maintenance Room, using her Power Bombs to push herself up the ladder. "What are we looking at?" She urgently asked the others, as she rolled up to them.
