Personality: A quiet girl with an intelligent mind. She’s not very good at interacting with other people, as she’s autistic, and her special interests tend to be viewed as odd by a lot of people— they tend to be a bit dark and unusual, or weirdly childish. She enjoys reading and writing poetry, and spends much of her time doing so— usually in dark corners, because bright lights and colours strain her eyes. Scared of frogs and other amphibians, and she hates anything to do with bubblegum or strawberries— the flavours, the scents, anything. She usually prefers not to participate in sports and special trips, for obvious reasons, but she will go if it has something to do with one of her interests. When faced with new people, her usual reaction is to hide away as much as possible— if she can stop them from noticing her weirdness for long enough, it might delay the horrible bullying sure to come, after all!

Backstory: Born to two 2nd-generation Italian immigrants, she’s had CP and all her other things since birth— the CP caused by pregnancy complications, and the rest just normally. She was brought up speaking both Italian and English (with the aid of hearing aids), as well as ASL, and was bullied intensely for both her heritage and her disabilities for most of her school life— her home life, however, was much better, with a large, accepting family and better accommodations. They eventually found out about the school, decided to send her so she stopped having as horrible of a life and being so depressed, yadayadayada, current events.

Ties to Penzington/Reason being sent: She’s had trouble with bullying due to her condition most of her life, which led to struggling in school, depression, etc. and it’s hoped that being in a more supportive environment with those similarly afflicted might help with it.

Backstory:

Rauiri (Rory) was not born with his disability. His family is well off, father being the owner of his own company. The family business picked up near the end of World War II, riding the economic boom to success. His father inherited the company as the war began, and it brought their family in from Ireland. His old pops managed to be a good leader for the company and Rauiri grew up knowing little hardship. However, when Rauiri was but a young lad, the car he had been picked up in got into a crash. The accident was quite severe and though Rauiri made it out with his life, he did not make it out with his legs.

Rauiri would be bound to a wheelchair from that day on and likely for the rest of his life. Although he did not mind the change all that much after getting used to it, he was soon targeted by the undesirables of his school. There were a few incidents that had taken place. One was when he had gotten into a fight with another kid, and cracked a yard stick over the others head when they tried to take hold of his wheelchair. Another significant event was when he was thrown into a pool by his bullies. An event that nearly took his life as he always had trouble swimming, and the loss of his legs only made it far harder to cope with the situation.

When he was found beside the pool the next day, his mother insisted that they take him out of school to find a more suitable facility. Soon enough, they found the Penzington-Hale House. Seeing it as a good opportunity for Rauiri to escape the hardships he faced in his previous school, they promptly sent him here. Rauiri was not opposed to it though! He was tempted by the idea of exploring an all new place that he would call home, at least for a while. Find all of its secrets and make his own history here. Could be fun!
