Please refer to the "Personality Map" to choose your character's personality. Personality Map Can Be Found In Spoiler -->

-Personality Map-

Major Traits

What's your character's style? Are they traditional, or a free-spirit?

  • (Traditional) Your character usually follows the rules and the "normal" way of doing things. They are conservative, hardworking, routine, stable, and diligent. They focus on doing what's expected and making sure it's done without much fuss. They prefer to follow society's standard values, standard dress, and are slower to accept new ideas. They are the ones who wait for someone to finish speaking, before they themselves start. They are usually meek and respectful.

  • (Free-Spirit) Your character is used to doing things their own way and following their own path. They don't like going with the crowd. They prefer to live by their own code. These characters are open to most everything. They like to experiment and have no problem changing to take on new environments and situations. These are the ones who'd more likely ditch and leave a conversation if something more interesting pops up.
What is your character's way of action? Are they physical, or mental?

  • (Physical) Your character experiences the world primarily through physical touch. They like to hold things, hug things, kick things, punch things; anything that lets them connect with life in tangible ways. They are very aware of their bodies and surroundings, but are liable to get irritated if they're not able to move around for too long.

  • (Mental) Your character likes to take things in through their mind. They like to plan, think, imagine, and wouldn't mind spending a whole day inside their heads. Their brain holds an entire world; sometimes bigger than the one outside. Though they may like to daydream and appear as if they're not doing anything at all, they are. You just can't see it.
What kind of resolve does your character have?

  • (Careful Your character is timid. These are the type who look before they leap. If there was a dangerous situation where someone needed help, there's a possibility this character might jump in; just don't expect them to be the first. If there's something frightening coming, follow them if you want to live to fight another day.

  • (Bold) This character is brave. They are the type who leap before they look. In a dangerous situation where someone needed help, this person might stand back for a bit, but they wouldn't be able to keep out of the action for long. If there's something frightening coming, stand behind them if there's no choice but to fight.
What type of outlook does your character have on life?

  • (Realist) This character sees things for how they really are, not how they want them to be. A realist is practical. They do not shoot for the stars, but aim low and try to do things they know can be done. They can be cynical, brutally honest, always seeking the truth, and hard to make happy because of it.

  • (Idealist) This character sees things for how they should be, not what they seem. An idealist is imaginative. They refuse to be stopped by how things are and try to create change needed by shooting for the stars. They are positive thinkers who have faith and trust that most times the goal can be reached -- you just have to try.
What level of openness does your character have?

  • (Extrovert) These characters charge up and refresh by spending time interacting with external life. They lose their pep when spending too much time alone; most specifically during introspection. This character feels better talking to or interacting with other people and things, sometimes with more than one item or person at once. That is good. The more the merrier! They are usually effervescent characters that handle the outside world extremely well.

  • (Introvert) These characters de-stress and center by spending time alone. They lose their charm when being around people or other external things for too long; especially large crowds of them. Being spoken to directly or performing an externally demanding task, drains them even faster. When exposed to too many things at once, these characters will soon likely take a break to rest and recover. Introverted typed people are usually independent, and thoughtful, reliable friends.
Lesser Traits

What's your character's demeanor?

  • (Serious) Your character doesn't like to play games. They're all business. They get straight to the point and quickly move on as soon as things are settled. Time is one thing this character does not waste without a fight.

  • (Playful) Your character loves to play games and have fun. Joking around is a must. They may never get to the point...instead sit back and enjoy the view. Who cares if they lose a minute or two? These characters don't. Come on! Lighten up!
Which way to knowledge does your character prefer?

  • (Education) Your character places a high value on education. They likely took classes and studied a lot from books themselves. Though unlikely to reach a true and complete mastery of a single topic, these kinds of people usually know a great deal about many different subjects.

  • (Experience) Your character is a child of experience. They likely went out and got what they know about a subject by actually doing it. These kinds of people aren't able to explore everything in the world, but from what they have come across, they usually have a very deep understanding of.
Is your character romantic?

  • (Yes) Your character is affectionate, comfortable with romance, and open to love. This can be as friends or as something more. This person would be the type to sit with another and pat them as they cry their problems out on their shoulder.

  • (No) Your character is oblivious to love, affection, romance, and all. This can be towards friends or anyone they see as something more. This person would rather give a tissue or direct someone to the bathroom, instead of letting them cry on their shoulder.

Backstory:
Born to two very capable and very powerful politicians Teresa, often called Risa, was surrounded by successful people. Her older brother grew up from a child prodigy to a well respected scientist and constantly casted a larger shadow for taylor to try to step out of. The first five years of her life were a blurs. She was so lucky to be born into such a loving family who actually cared about her, since her parents were so loving they forego the age restriction and placed her into virtual world as a baby. It was then that she developed a very real imaginary friend, who talked to her both in and out of the virtual world. With her imaginary friend's help she realized there was no point in trying to make her parents proud, the'd never turn around to look at her anymore. So she decided to do what RED wanted to do instead. RED was a figment of her imagination after all, right?

Refusing to join the rest of her family she was soon diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder and eventually dragged into the virtual world for therapy. Not only did she hate being in therapy, no one would believe the virtual world was broken. There were all these strings of code floating around. Of course no one listened to her, no one ever did. They told her it war part of her disorder another delusion like her imaginary friend. Risa refused to abide by anyone's rules and did what she could to break them. Skipping school, getting into trouble, lying to her psychiatrist and telling anyone off, it was how she dealt with her struggles. Still she had to get the grades to keep her parents happy, so she made sure she never failed a thing.

Hearing the news of the recent uprise in murders everyone in her school suspected her. It didn't help that it was right then that her code-breaker abilities manifest. Sick and tired of this code in her face her imaginary friend urged her to play with the code and low and behold it worked. Finally something good came of her crappy situation. However Risa didn't take to the streets and cause chaos, no she took this new situation logically. She wanted to see what this was capable of doing so she read "Code Academy" and from there went to find a team. Sure she might not be the nicest of people, but she wasn't stupid with her track record straight and narrow was the best option for now. Taking off as soon as she could get out of school she made her way to the nearest guild.

Part II:
Trouble had trouble working alongside the other members of the Ponies. Seeing the others grow and become more with their power Trouble seemed to feel as if she was somehow resisting her Trojan Horse Skills. Not really able to explain her troubles to the others she retreated inward where her Resident. Evil. Devil was waiting for her. Taking advice from RED it bothered her how much her so called subconscious about something she knew nothing on. It made her worry and wonder, just who or what RED was.

As she grew in power and skill she felt more connected with RED. She was beginning to notice the changes in her appearance as her skills are used. How she's started to see sense in what RED says and takes her advice when given. Keeping herself away from the others she progressed at her own rate. Returning back only when she deemed herself worthy of helping them she's been happy to work with most of them. Not really making much in the regards of friends, but it was nice.

'Stein'
Shunjiro Miyata

latest

Age:
24

Gender:
Male

Appearance:
Part I:
A skinny, lanky man, Shunjiro has jet black hair, and eyes almost just as dark and that always seem to have a tired look to them. His skin is on the lighter side, and he typically keeps himself covered up as much as possible. He wears glasses due to poor sight, and typically keeps himself clean-shaven.

Part II:

Shunjiro is still close to his original appearance; medium-length black hair, tall and lanky, pale skin. Though he has gotten more comfortable showing off his body for some reason, not wearing so much clothing to cover himself up. He will roll up his sleeves if he feels inclined to, and wears more form-fitting clothing. If he has to dress up for whatever reason, he has a suit and different pair of glasses he wears. He also tends to wear a ring with a rather large garnet in it on his index finger.

Bio:
Shunjiro's early life was very, as he put it, eventful when nothing happened. He was an avid reader during his beginning years outside of the virtual world, preferring to enrich his mind on words on paper compared to speaking to others. He rarely spoke, and only said his first words on his birthday when he turned five, and spoke in a complete sentence. His older brothers, Eiji and Morio (who were fraternal twins), would tease him about it when they came out of the virtual world. This didn't bother Shunjiro, though, because he always thought that just meant he was smarter.

When Shunjiro was introduced to the virtual world, he was ecstatic! To have more material to read. He was rarely seen with his nose out of a few words sprawled out in front of him. His obsession of reading soon grew into an interest in writing, and he started to make his own material, in the virtual world and out. He kept journals in both realities, both having the same contents. He enjoyed looking back on what he was doing with his life, and sketching down the interactions he had with his family. He began to dream of becoming a renowned writer, and worked on his craft so he could publish his own stories throughout the world, and everyone could enjoy them. He became friends with two students in his year, Philip Kozlov, a large Russian boy, and Molly Anthony, an small Australian girl with a mind for numbers. The two of them acted as his moral support, and critiqued whatever he wrote to help him improve.

Discord began to grow within his family, however, when Shunjiro entered his teenage years. His brothers were now adults, and Eiji was set on becoming a distribution worker in order to better provide for their family. Morio supported him, but their parents kept pushing Eiji to change his mind. Shunjiro was stuck in the middle, and to avoid as much conflict as possible, would lock himself in his room for hours, working on his writing, wanting to escape from the bad things in his life. He would sneak out of his room when his family was asleep, and take food up to his room to survive the day. When he had to use the bathroom, he would run to the bathroom before anyone could talk to him, and run back, even when people tried to stop him. He tended to escape to the virtual world quite a bit, where he would spend time with Philip and Molly. They all graduated, and Phillip went on to open a bookstore/coffee shop where people could unwind and read a book, though he mostly opened it due to Shunjiro wanting a place to escape his life outside of the virtual world. Molly began working at the store with Phillip, so they could all stay in touch.

When Shunjiro turned twenty, on the day exactly after his birthday, he began noticing the changes in the virtual world around him. The code that made up the world so many people were invested in became clearer to him, and he knew this was what he had read about. The
Codebreakers. While the power scared him, he wanted to learn more about it. He tried to consult other Codebreakers, and began to understand what he was a little more. He got a job working as a secretary for Morio, who was a psychologist, and when he wasn't working, he was writing down what he learned from other Codebreakers. He soon joined up with one of the Guilds, known as Pwnies, in order to learn even more about Codebreaking.

Part II:
After joining Pwnies, Shunjiro found new inspirations for his literary work through the people around him. While he still wasn't good friends with any of his fellow guild members, he had eventually proven himself to be a trustworthy and reliable member to any party that needed him. He continued to compile information and offer his aid to his comrades if they needed it. He fell into a supportive role for the guild, naming himself the unofficial "scribe", keeping track of completed missions and important events. Due to this, he fell behind a number of his allies, but he didn't seem bothered by it much.

He has kept his life outside of the virtual world secret, though, after he had seemingly quit his job working for Morio. What was known about him, at least only in Pwnies, is that he had published a rather successful book, The Sparrow's Song, under the pseudonym Eda Torikami. The book focused on a young man with a disability who began taking care of birds after he lost his connections to the rest of his family and friends. As his first successful novel, Stein always carries a digital copy of it around with him.

Genki

Real Name:
[REDACTED]

Age:
19

Gender:
Male

Appearance:
An unusually pretty young man, whose good looks are more oft the not overshadowed by a haunted grimace that plagues his visage; a twisted expression that not even he knows the true meaning of.

Personality:
  • Free Spirit - Genki opposes the ideas of establishment and hierarchy to the point of blind hatred. Even Guilds such as PKFire, which were founded on the ideals of total virtual freedom, make him feel nothing but disgust. Relying on others is a just a ticking time bomb.
  • Physical - Genki's mind may run at a mile a minute, but the truly experiences the world through his body. He can't remind satisfied if he only thinks about things, rather than doing them. An infuriating sense of helplessness drives him to leave his mark on the word.
  • Bold - Playing the weak and meek servant is something that Genki has buried deep in his past. When he wants something, he will take it, by force if he has to. Likewise, his days of letting other wills determine his own are over. He would sooner die than let someone scare him out of a fight.
  • Idealist - Not all ideals are stars shining brightly in the sky.
  • Introvert - People are trouble, so Genki would rather not deal with them unless he has to. Making friends is just asking to suffer, be it now or later.
  • Playful - If he's living for himself and only himself, Genki figures that he might as well try to enjoy it. Despite his usual doom and gloom, a repressed, childish glee remains within him, only poking its head out on the rarest of occasions.
  • Experience - You can't trust anything other than what you've learned yourself. That's just the way the world is.
  • Non-Romantic - He doesn't care about other people's problems. Call him an ass if you want, but he's got other things to worry about.

Bio:

Within the newly shambled streets of Solaris, there is a ruin of an older age. A facility that once called the sewer network of the city its hideaway, and now calls them its grave. The air hangs heavy with the unmistakable musk of decay, and the halls are filled with the pitter-patter of footsteps belonging to a resident unseen.

It was not always this way. Behind every ruin, there is a story, a tale of the lives that used to fill its halls and the purpose it once so eagerly served.

MEPHISTO, as it was known, was once the premiere business in the bestial black market. Staffed by Code Breakers and Hackers alike, a collective of great minds gathered together to push the limits of the virtual world. They twisted the animal form in weird and wonderful ways, selling off their exotic creations to the highest bidder and then repeating the cycle again and again. Its clientele were wide ranging as they could be. Superstars in search of exotic pets, Breakers looking for a special companions, Politicians pursuing goals unknown. MEPHISTO did not discriminate, for all they cared for was their ability to create. Good or Evil, Saint or Sinner, you were welcome in their halls.

Genki was never a client of the back-alley business himself, but some of those close to him were. Born not only as a Code Breaker, but also as the son of a once great politician, to the outside eye it would've seemed like he'd been holding a golden ticket at birth. But the outside eye is ever ignorant. "Once great", those were the words that rang the truest in Genki's father's heart. In his prime, he'd had entire countries dancing in the palm of his hand. The people loved him, and the courts had followed his every whim. He'd just made one mistake. One little mistake had cost him his pride, his legacy, and his career. He'd gotten off lucky and been able to retire quietly, allowed to live a quiet and comfortable life until the end of his days, but that wasn't enough for him.

When Genki awoke to his abilities, his father was quick to capitalize. He lavished praise upon him and molded him into the perfect tool for his political return. After a few years of subtle training, the boy proved to have a certain talent for imitation and was put to work.

He was his father's scalpel. Whether it was kicking up political scandals, or beating down those who sought to do them ill, Genki followed his father's word as law. He just wanted to please him. He wanted to earn the love and respect of the man who birthed him, and his father knew it. The man could see the glint in his son's eyes, the hunger for approval, so he kept him hungry; every now and again he'd throw him a bone, a the odd word of praise here and there, and Genki gnawed on it like the dog he was.

Even hungrier than Genki was his father himself; his son was a decent enough tool, but he figured that it was high time for some improvements. He found himself in contact with MEPHISTO, and put forward a proposal. The next generation, both of Beast and Breaker. They'd take the best from both worlds, and something newer, better, faster, stronger would be born.

It didn't even take a day for the deal to be sealed.

Genki's life went from empty to miserable soon after. Before, he'd been allowed the odd bit of rest. Sort periods of privacy and solace that let him keep his head on top of his shoulders, no matter what he'd been made to do the day before. But once the experiments started those moments were all but gone. Work, work, and more work. If Genki wasn't in MEPHISTO's labs, the he was off on one of his father's usual acts of political espionage. Even with the experiments going on, the man had no intention of slowing down.

Whenever he complained, it was brushed off. None of this was real, his father reminded him. No matter how much his muscles ached after a day of ceaseless work, or how much close to the edge of life the tests drove him, nothing really mattered. Once he woke from VR, his wounds have vanish and everything would be okay.

But this time it was too much. His father's tongue was not quiet as silver as he'd thought it. It took a long time, but eventually Genki snapped. He didn't care if none of it was real, nor did he care if it went away when he returned to the real world. He still felt it all; he still had to endure each and every second of it. The pain and pressure was too much, and the dam broke under their weight. Years of pent of frustration flooded out from from his heart, and he was deadset on reaping his vengeance for all of it.

It was simple enough. Through his father's good graces, he knew more than his fair share of contacts in the political world. All he need to do was slip a word in with one of his rivals, and the gears had been set in motion; MEPHISTO's location, staff, projects and customer base was leaked to the public and outrage ensued. Genki's case was only one in an ocean of scandals that arose, but he orchestrated it as well as he had any of his father's little plots.

Teary eyed, he made a public confession. His father's crimes were laid bare, and he was painted as a victim most tragic. Of course, his father was beyond furious, but there was nothing he could do. This time he wasn't just being cast out of the political world, he was being cast out from society as a whole; only weeks after the initial incident, tabloids were splattered with a headline that brought a smile to Genki's face.

His father's arrest and imprisonment.

Since that day Genki has been living life by his own will and his own rules. He might have been able to use his father's destruction to launch some sort of career of his own, but he chose not to play the role of the Pheonix. Even if it was only his ashes, Genki wanted nothing to do with that man, so he discarded everything he could.

Everything except for one, bitter memory. One that wouldn't let him go.

Prince Antonelli

Real Name:
Luciano Antonelli

Age:
23

Gender:
Male

Personality:
  • Free-Spirit
  • Mental
  • Bold
  • Idealist
  • Introvert
  • Playful
  • Education
  • Romantic
Bio:

Luciano's parents own a multi-billion dollar private company called Antonelli Talent Agency on the 8th floor. The boy grew up surrounded by stars, artists, and musical talents. It was only natural that he wanted to join their ranks. No. He wanted to be the best of the best. To outshine others on the virtual stage. His parents endorsed their little boy's desire. The best prep school. The best music instructors. The best dance stage. Nothing was too much for their little star.

However, Luce didn't want that. Perhaps because all the best artists, the ones he admired at least, started out with nothing. Luciano wanted the same. Or, perhaps, it was simply a pride thing. He didn't want people to think he was just riding on his parents coattails...or that he was buying his way to success. Whichever the case, Luciano decided to attend a regular public high school where Luce started a boy band with a group of friends: AXEL (just an acronym of their names Anthony, Xavier, Ethan, and Luciano)

Their first gig was in Little City...and they took the virtual world by a storm. Since then AXEL's only been climbing higher. They ended up signing with his parent's company (gave them the best deal), despite Luciano's reluctance. It was for the good of the band. It would help his parent's company. Surely pride could give way for the sake of the group. Contracting with Antonelli Talent Agency ensured that AXEL continued to remain at the top of the charts. Floor tours. Adoring fans. Ever flowing money. There was always a stage for AXEL to perform. It was like paradise...except Luciano wasn't happy. But his friends were happy, so Luciano never said anything. Friendship was what kept him in the band.

However, that shattered when, in an argument with one of the members (regarding the style of music they should play), it was revealed that the only reason he was in the band in the first place was because of his connections. His bandmembers had known his name even before they became friends. Somewhere in the argument, it had even been implied that his skills in music were mediocre compared to theirs. Incensed, and hurt, Antonelli quit the band, deciding to go solo.

He would prove them wrong. Even if he was alone. Even he didn't have his parent's money, Luce was going to make it big on his own. Fortunately, Luciano also happened to be a CodeBreaker. If he was going to strike out on his own, he would need a source of income from somewhere. Unfortunately, his frivolous habits from being a rich boy made him penniless really fast. Who knew that those pretty looking katanas in a virtual store could be so expensive? It was during that time of low (the low of a starving artist who couldn't even use his skills because they cost money) when an old acquaintance of his from his high school days appeared before him. Jessika Xanders. Or rather, JinX the Codebreaker. At first he thought she was a Social Media. However a brief pvp with her revealed the girl to be Trojan...who was trying to play the Social Media game.

Be her friend and make money. Say her name and make money. It seemed like she wanted to be a celebrity Trojan. Well, whatever she wanted to be, it didn't matter to Luciano. She promised she would help him if he became her 'friend'. Luciano didn't completely trust the Trojan from Pwnies. But then, that was probably for the best. Luciano knew from experience that trust only led to hurt.

That was one thing they shared in common at least.

Bio:
A quiet but curious girl - always on the lookout for items to dedicate her time, one day got her wish when on an outing to Victoria's Secret on the upper floor of the mega-mall Harrods. Not one to shy from the spices of life, Gracie was taken by an odd stream of girls entering the store that afternoon. A woman with pink hair and another with brown, there was a small child with them who looked no older than 11. Eavedropping in on the trio, it was interesting hearing what they talked about as they tried things on. Normally, eavesdropping would be considered a sin by most, but to Gracie, there was nothing wrong with a little idle listening...right? It's not like she was listening to anything extremely sensitive. These people...she just couldn't supress the urge. There was something about this group of girls that stood out to her. Wracking her brain and tapping a finger to her chin, Gracie finally found out what it was: their usernames. While the little child seemed to have a normal one, Gracie could make out the names of the other two...the secret ones that was, and it could only mean 1 thing. That they were Codebreakers too.

What were a group of Codebreakers doing at Harrods..? Codebreakers fought crime. Or at least she thought they did. Could they just be hanging out on some off-the-job down time? Goodness! Catching herself, she was surprised that she cared so much! And soon idle curiosity turned active as she tailed them at a distance, eventually coming to witness firsthand the debacle that was Edge La, a legend in Codebreaking, killing Gay Lord, a local movie star and icon of Little City. Well, actually, he was pretty famous across all of Floor 1 which made what she saw all the more-boggling when it went down. She'd heard of Edge La too; one of the biggest names in the Codebreaking world, and not just because of her level, but because she was one of the first to step into the light and embrace the role as a Codebreaker, not hiding her identity or what she planned to do with the new-found powers she had. Or so Gracie heard. Yet what she didn't hear, was that Edge La was seemingly in the midst of creating of a guild of them. She never heard anything about it, and the way Edge La spoke to the older brown-haired lady and the child, it seemed like they were already part of the group.

Heading home that day and checking on the internet, Gracie wondered how she didn't see it before. After a few minutes of searching, she resolved to do a better job of keeping her eyes and ears to the world around. Among various message boards and forums dedicated to Codebreakers, there she was, Edge La, recruiting for the Pwnies guild to bring a level of order to the virtual world. "How noble", Gracie thought with brows raised and crooked smile. Yet remembering the scene back at Harrod's, Gracie sobered up quick. This Edge La was clearly a serious person who had no problems acting to backup what she said. It was kind of scary. Scary to think it was not some kind of joke. Gracie was always curious about her codebreaking powers and if this was the real deal, then it'd be the best opportunity to find out just what she could do. Maybe end up doing better than she thought? Figure how to use her powers to make a real difference in the world. Not to say school and learning about the mundane wasn't interesting, but the sitting down and studying for hours at a time was something she could do without. So seeking out the Edge Lord, Gracie Dent started down a journey she would likely never forget.

Real Name:
Edward Philips

Age:
18

Gender:
Male

Appearance:
downloadfile-6.png

Personality:

Traditional-Ed isn't obsessed with following the rules, but he generally doesn't fall out of line. He's a respectful person that doesn't cause many problems (intentionally).

Mental- He often interacts with the world for his work, but Ed mostly prefers to think things through and visualize. He likes to imagine things in his head before going through with them, but many times, he keeps to his thoughts without doing anything at all. He's usually quiet, but there are often many thoughts going through his head.

Careful- Ed normally doesn't take many risks in life. He's naturally timid and refrains from seeking out danger, instead sticking to his usual routine. However, there are times when his good nature forces him to act, even if it may not be good for his health.

Idealist- Not blind to how the world is, Ed is aware that there are bad things everywhere. However, he likes to put his faith in the possibility that things can be better and tries to think positively. Even if it's done in a small way, he'd like to share that positivity and help other people feel better instead of worrying.

Extrovert- While Ed does have some trouble interacting with people due to his meek personality and the jitters come along with meeting someone new, he greatly enjoys speaking with others and finds happiness in being able to get along with those around him.

Playful- Ed isn't necessarily a jokester, he does have a certain playfulness to him when around people he's comfortable with.

Experience- Primarily learning from trial and error to improve in his field, Ed often leans toward firsthand experience to truly understand something. However, he doesn't shy away from the traditional method of studying either.

Romantic- Not very experienced with romance, the thought of something like a relationship can make him nervous and red in the face. However, he can easily display plenty of care. Even if he doesn't know them very well, Ed will listen to a person express themselves and do whatever he can to cheer them up. He has a strong desire to help others and be of assistance. However, some could say that he does this to an unhealthy degree, placing more importance on others than himself.

Bio:

Ed never really knew his parents. At best, he could only ever remember their featureless faces obscured by his own cloudy vision. However, even if he couldn't remember their appearance or what their voices sounded like, he could still feel the pain that had been given to him. Ever since he was a child, he struggled with the knowledge that he had been abandoned.

Without his parents to look after him, Ed was placed into the care of a relative. As for how they were related to each other, he couldn't say, but he always referred to the man as his uncle. He was grateful to his new guardian for taking him in when he had nowhere else to go, but the living conditions were less than optimal, to say the least.

The place where his uncle lived was small and cramped, always smelling of tobacco and other less than pleasant odors. It wasn't surprising that the environment was unsuitable for a child, considering that it was only home to a middle-aged bachelor not long ago. His uncle often complained about the lack of space that he had to deal with, among other things. He never made it a secret that Ed's presence was an unwelcome one. If things had gone his way, nothing would have changed, but the child was practically forced onto him. It was extremely inconvenient and annoying for him to deal with, but he had no say in the matter. Even so, Ed was no less appreciative. Although, there was guilt mixed with those feelings of gratitude as well.

While it may have hurt to be treated as a bother, Ed was more concerned about the trouble he was causing for his uncle. He was an inconvenience, but rather than wallow in sadness, he wanted to do something for the man and make himself useful. He focused entirely on that feeling of wanting to help and ignored everything else. If he did that, he thought that there was a chance for him to be seen as useful. He had a desire to be wanted.

While living with his uncle, he did as much as he could to help around their home. Where it was picking up the garbage often left sitting out, or cooking simple meals, he tried to earn his place and prove himself as someone that belonged. It did little to change his uncle's opinion of him, but he continued to do so, becoming a daily routine throughout the years. It was only during school that he took a break.

Ed often had trouble communicating with others. He was a naturally shy person, never quite sure of what to say when around other people. Even when he did attempt to connect with classmates, it never went well. He struggled with making friends and became somewhat of an outcast for that reason. His personality made him an easy target for hazing, as he never put up any resistance, simply letting things happen. However, it was his desire to be useful that caused many people to take advantage of him.

During the later years of his school life, there was a particular group of classmates that sought to make use of him. He was often forced to do various tasks for their amusement and kept around as a convenient source of entertainment. By no means did he enjoy being a target, but there was little he could do about the situation. He wasn't the type to fight back and didn't possess any of the strength that was necessary to do so. His emotions were simply bottled up and suppressed.

While school and home life may not have been the best, Ed did find enjoyment in one thing. For a long time, he had admired the captivating images of landscapes and other scenery found in the books he read. In reality, the outside world was in ruins. It was a discomforting sight, one that many could describe as depressing. However, there was more to be found in the virtual cities. The objects themselves may have been fake, but their beauty and the emotions people felt while looking at them were real. Ed wanted to capture those emotions he felt while looking at something. While he personally enjoyed it, there was also thought that maybe if he shared those images, other people could feel them too.

Ed's happiest memory was the moment he was finally able to buy a camera of his own. All the time he could spare was spent working small jobs in an attempt to save up enough money and it had paid off. From then on, it was as if the object was permanently attached to him. It was almost always hanging from his neck, ready to capture whatever walked in front of his lens. While he may not have considered himself to be very skilled, it was something that he could be dedicated to and call his own. He took comfort in it.

With time, Ed improved, each photograph coming out better than the last. His work had even managed to attract the attention of one teacher at his school. Despite his initial hesitation, he shared more of what he had done, which earned him praise. To his surprise, this lead to his teacher promising to put in a good word for him with a former colleague from Duchamp. He had never given much thought to his future and still didn't consider himself good enough to be worthy of any attention, but the idea made him happy. If there was something that he was capable of doing well, then he was glad.

Unfortunately, Ed's recent change in demeanor did not go unnoticed by the students he had been at the mercy of. They believed he was getting cocky, thinking better of himself because he could take wave a camera around. To amuse themselves and teach him a lesson, they decided to pull a little prank.

Ed found it hard to process when he was brought in for disciplinary action. Unbeknownst to him, he had been framed for vandalism of the school grounds. No matter how much he protested, there was nothing that could be done about the situation. There was fabricated evidence and the word of several other students against him. In the end, he was suspended.

Unable to return to school, Ed spent most of his time wandering throughout the city. His uncle was even more upset with him than usual, making it difficult to be in the same place, regardless of whether it was the virtual world or reality. The experience has taken its toll on him, but he continued to fill the empty days by taking pictures of anything that crossed his path, even if his heart wasn't in it. His listless travels eventually led him to the people responsible for his predicament.

Despite being at their mercy during school hours, he had never met his classmates in public. Without the watchful eyes of the staff to hold them back, they were much more ruthless. Not satisfied with their previous work, they quickly snatched away the object that had caused Ed to slowly change. To deal with that and add entertainment to an otherwise boring day, the camera was promptly smashed. He could only stare at the broken pieces as they left, unable to do anything until he bent down to silently pick up the remains.

The sun set soon afterward, but he still hadn't returned home. Walking the empty streets aimlessly, his mind was blank as he carried what was left of his camera. He was sad. He was angry. However, he couldn't do anything with those emotions, so he simply buried them. That's what he always did.

Eventually, a noise interrupted his walk, causing him to become more alert. While he had previously shut out all other sounds beforehand, this one was enough to catch his attention. It was unusual, yet somehow familiar. It was distorted and somewhat frightening, especially in the dark, but he eventually recognized it. It sounded a bit like crying. Even if it wasn't the typical sound that came to mind when imagining a person crying, he could tell that it was pained. Maybe that was the reason he followed it without hesitation and walked down the dark alley. Even if he had been sad and frustrated a moment ago, he wanted to help whatever it was that cried out.

After that, Ed could only remember waking up the next day. At his side, there was his camera, fully intact. Because of that, he wrote off what happened as a dream. This would happen several more times, beginning a period in his life where remembering things became much harder. There were often blank spots in his memory that he couldn't fill. This wasn't the only strange thing he began to experience.

After serving his suspension, Ed returned to school without any trouble. The group responsible for his absence didn't pay him much attention, ceasing their usual harassment. They acted as if they had never met him before. He thought of it as some new method of messing with him, but their behavior as a whole was strange. None of their previous poor behavior in continued, each of them acting as normal students. It was as if they had been reset, completely forgetting about their previous lifestyle.

Ed's life continued normally from then on, most of his time still spent improving his skills as a photographer. He managed to win a few competitions by submitting his work wherever he could, but the ultimate payoff for his efforts came in the form of his acceptance to Duchamp. While not too much, he did manage to earn scholarships that would help deal with future payments.

His uncle initially disapproved of his decision to attend university and move out. While he still wasn't very fond of Ed himself, the boy leaving would have left him without a worker around the house, as well as the money that he brought in from working. Despite outright forbidding the idea and causing Ed a great deal of grief, he eventually came around to the idea.

Not much has changed in Ed's life after he started attending Duchamp. While working in a flower shop to help pay for his tuition, he has taken his classes seriously and earnestly tries to improve at what he loves, hoping to continue as a photographer for as long as possible. While difficult to manage, it has been rewarding. However, there is still one issue.

In his head, there is a voice that nobody else can hear. There is a person that nobody else can see. It is always there, speaking to him and making demands. While he isn't sure of when it arrived or where it came from, it is always there.

Normally the story would start many years ago, discussing Viera's childhood and all that. Well none of that matters, other than the fact that she had always been "off", even at a young age. Nothing of any real note took place until her early teen years when two facets of her being came culminating together. One was, of course, her abilities as a codebreaker. The other was her complete and total disregard for anything even coming close to empathy. Quite the opposite, really. Viera received a perverse joy from ruining other people. The more pain and suffering they felt, the more joy she felt.

Her young age left her naive and inexperienced which, combined with her morbid hobbies, led to more than a few close calls. Fortunately for her, her abilities as a codebreaker helped keep her out of any serious trouble until she wisened up to the way to the world worked. As such Viera honed her outward persona over the years. To those who'd see her and talk to her during day to day life she'd come off as a nice, simple girl. She enjoyed being around people. She was open and expressive. And for the most part these were her genuine feelings. She truly did enjoy being with other people and living a normal life.

But she also very much enjoyed seeing people suffer. And once she had reached her adult years and lived on her own this joy of misery ultimately led to her taking the life of others. Of course she knew it wasn't "real" murder, they'd just revive and nothing of any real value would be lost. But even so she donned a helmet befitting her adventuring outfit and made the most of it. Catching lone travelers and bringing them to a brutal end when she wasn't out clearing out the monsters that dwelled on her floor. And to this day that's where she remains.

Bio:
If you take the backstreets away from the hustle and bustle of Little City's face, you may find yourself on its dark side and staring down a run-down hole-in-the-wall office. Awaiting you inside is an ironically named young man - likely sizing you up with a glare and a grimace plastered on his face. Though, on rare occasions, you may run into that young man's erstwhile companion: a thing wrapped around in a trench coat. Perhaps, it's at this point that you realize that this is the worst possible option for your mystery-solving needs.

The freelance investigator (though he prefers being referred to as a 'private detective') is a dour individual whose cynicism betrays his youth. Perhaps its a result of his locale or simply his relatively unknown reputation, but Joker often ends up tackling small-scale cases like missing items or investigating digital adultery. On the rare occasion where some petty case quickly goes south and becomes the stuff of film noir, he falls back on his own abilities as a Codebreaker. Still, it beats whatever awaits him whenever he logs out from his second life on the virtual world.

Out in the real world, the guy behind Joker doesn't have a single clue. An entity who simply came into existence in a well-furnished yet incredibly cramped room. Lacking memories or an identity, it quickly became apparent that there was no chance of escaping this room and that he was under constant surveillance. Nourishment came through a one-way slot in the wall. With nothing else to do, he cautiously logged on. The young man encountered an error while logging in. But soon enough, the gates to that second world opened.

For Joker, this bleak existence and the unwanted niche that he fills is little more than a facet of life. He endures it because he knows the alternative's worse. And maybe it's the paranoia gripping at his heart, but he doesn't play well with others. Hell, he'd prefer if most people were in the dark about this 'Detective In Name Only' being a Codebreaker.

Part II
After a brief period of time spent clearing some jobs for the up and coming Pwnies guild, Joker began to ascend the floors of the Virtual World in search of more work to be done. With the advent of the update, Joker has regained much of his original power - the most important being the official implementation of his previously exclusive (and incredibly glitchy) RAID EX.

In the interim between his adventures on Floor 1 and entrance into Floor 3, the DINO has been busy taking on small jobs on the side with his reliable partner and companion, Maxwell, at his side. And although he maintains little to no contact with Edge La or her guild, it seems that a certain pink/brown-haired mystery has managed to remain in steady contact with the investigator. "Bosom Buddies", indeed. He's been keeping tabs on a certain maid/serial killer and hitman as well...

Recently, an old acquaintance has contacted Joker with details about a certain case. One that involves people falling into comas after being slain in the Virtual World by an unknown assailant; often in scenarios that can be likened to the 'locked room' phenomena prevalent in detective novels. With a grimace on his face and reluctance in his heart, Joker nonetheless moves forth towards the denouement. Who is the culprit behind these mysterious slayings? How are they committing these crimes? What sort of truth awaits Joker at the end of this mystery?

...Of course, none of that was true. Thomas was a young man obsessed with the virtual world, who had never made an impact in reality. A smart young man, and talented, but he left his gifts unused. His parents were embarassed by the way their son conducted himself, and eventually threatened to cut ties if things didn't change. Hurt by their disdain and unsure of what to do, Thomas became even more lost in the virtual, and despite taking up classes at a prestigious school of the digital arts, he decided that his real world existence was something to be discarded. After all, here in this world of ones and zeroes, he could be so much better... As a result of his parents words, Thomas developed a personality in the virtual world far different from the ones he displayed in reality, while the full discovery of his codebreaking abilities only made him feel more assured in his belief that he was wasting his time, living in the real world.

Bio:
Erik was always intrigued by the concept of communication. Ever since he was little he desired to know things such as how languages were born, or why does the same line said by two different people directed towards the same audience, have different effects. He started reading books about it, and as he grew older he started to understand more about the diffferent aspects of communicating, such as body language and metalanguage, but he only truly got how to use those aspects by the time he turned 20. Even though, sometimes he wished he didn't.

Albeit in introvert, Erik was an outgoing individual. He was in no way shy, and apart from his moments of necessary solitude for recharge, one wouldn't have been able to tell he was actually not extroverted. He had many friends, especially in highschool, but things began to change gradually. Through studying and experimenting, Erik understood how to controll the flow of conversation, how to gain the most information out of it, and even how to somewhat manipulate people through it. Your average highschooler would not have understood that, but other students and his professors from his university did. Some admired it, some were jelous, and all were somewhat afraid of it.

Obviously, nobody had a perfect life. Erik had his own ups and downs. Betrayed by so-called friends, jelous people trying to get in his way, and getting cheated on by his girlfriend, to name a few. While things that happen to anyone, the deeper the person, the deeper the wounds. And he...was extremely hurt. He began to think that the concept of communication was truly incredible, but not all humans were worth the effort.

He already started his first year in Business Communication, but he gave up on it, and opted for Accounting instead. He had way less people to deal with, and numbers didn't lie. He also took up judo, as it was another form of body language (and he was more interested in soft martial arts rather than hard ones) but tried to keep his interactions as brief as possible. While not necessarily unfriendly, most people felf some sort of barrier when talking to him, and it was unnerving.

Fast-forwarding towards the present...

Now 29, Erik had been a Code Breaker for a few years. He initially didn't think much about it, but...codes were merely another form of communication, weren't they?

Please refer to the "Personality Map" to choose your character's personality. Personality Map Can Be Found In Spoiler -->

-Personality Map-

Major Traits

What's your character's style? Are they traditional, or a free-spirit?
  • (Free-Spirit) Your character is used to doing things their own way and following their own path. They don't like going with the crowd. They prefer to live by their own code. These characters are open to most everything. They like to experiment and have no problem changing to take on new environments and situations. These are the ones who'd more likely ditch and leave a conversation if something more interesting pops up.
What is your character's way of action? Are they physical, or mental?

  • (Mental) Your character likes to take things in through their mind. They like to plan, think, imagine, and wouldn't mind spending a whole day inside their heads. Their brain holds an entire world; sometimes bigger than the one outside. Though they may like to daydream and appear as if they're not doing anything at all, they are. You just can't see it.
What kind of resolve does your character have?
  • (Bold) This character is brave. They are the type who leap before they look. In a dangerous situation where someone needed help, this person might stand back for a bit, but they wouldn't be able to keep out of the action for long. If there's something frightening coming, stand behind them if there's no choice but to fight.
What type of outlook does your character have on life?

Lesser Traits

What's your character's demeanor?
  • (Playful) Your character loves to play games and have fun. Joking around is a must. They may never get to the point...instead sit back and enjoy the view. Who cares if they lose a minute or two? These characters don't. Come on! Lighten up!
Which way to knowledge does your character prefer?
  • (Experience) Your character is a child of experience. They likely went out and got what they know about a subject by actually doing it. These kinds of people aren't able to explore everything in the world, but from what they have come across, they usually have a very deep understanding of.
Is your character romantic?

  • (Yes) Your character is affectionate, comfortable with romance, and open to love. This can be as friends or as something more. This person would be the type to sit with another and pat them as they cry their problems out on their shoulder.

Bio:

A resident of Harajuku Theatre who makes something of a living as a private investigator. There is little to know about his life. He has parents, but he lives away from them, and rarely visits. He sends them money once every few months, however. He sustains himself off daily servings of curry, eggs, and okonomiyaki.

Since becoming a Codebreaker, things haven't changed one bit. Se7en primarily focuses on reconnaissance and investigation, and would rather do that than throw himself into a fray. He offers his services to multiple Codebreaker guilds, and his detailed and comprehensive dossiers are more well known than he is.

He currently rents a small office in a small corner of Harajuku Theatre.

Real Name:
Elijah Royals

Age:
24

Gender:
Male

Appearance:
downloadfile-3.jpg

Personality:
Free-Spirit: Elijah isn't the type to deliberately break the rules and go against authority, but he primarily does things on his own terms, living out a carefree life.

Mental: Elijah can often make decisions on a whim, but for the most part, he prefers to think things through. Despite how he appears, the man is quite crafty, taking advantage of his clever mind

Careful: While he's not easily frightened, Elijah doesn't like to deal with things that are more trouble than they're worth. He prefers to keep his easygoing lifestyle, rather than get caught up in anything dangerous

Realist: Elijah doesn't have a very optimistic view of the world, looking at many things in a negative light after experiencing them firsthand. Although, he's not the type to rain on someone else's parade, keeping his more cynical ideas to himself unless asked to share.

Introvert: By no means a shy person, Elijah has no issue communicating with others, but often keeps to himself.

Playful: For the most part, Elijah is an easygoing person that won't take things seriously unless they're of great importance. He likes to have fun, often joking around with a calm tone in his voice, even when it annoys people.

Experience: While he has learned a great deal from studying books, Elijah believes that personal experience is the best source of knowledge, being able to see how the world works firsthand and form opinions without outside input.

Romantic: Elijah isn't very concerned with matters of the heart, not placing much importance on things like love, but he's not blind to how others feel. He's willing to sit and listen as people express themselves, even if he doesn't reveal his own feelings much.

Bio:

The first six years of a child's life are spent in the real world, disconnected from the virtual reality that people had adapted to. It plays a major role in their development, raised by their parents until they eventually grow old enough to join the rest of humanity within the vast digital space. Unfortunately for Elijah, the only two sources of interaction available to him were less than optimal, both mother and father having more than their fair share of issues.

Elijah's father did not hold many positive feelings when it came to this new form of society, untrusting of it. Those emotions spread to most things related to technology, maintaining a very negative attitude as he distanced himself from them as much as possible. This contributed to his choice of occupation, working in one of the few remaining real world professions as a product distributor. While it was dangerous work, he found it preferable to any job that was available in the virtual world.

With a salary that matched the large risks that came with job, Elijah's father brought in a healthy income, which created more problems than it solved. A large sum of the money his father made went to supporting his drinking habit, being one of the few things that the man actually seemed to enjoy. After returning home from work, he would simply sit in a secluded space, keeping to himself with a blank stare as he continuously opened new containers. Ordinarily, he was cold and distant, hardly giving anything a second glance, but the alcohol made him just a bit more annoyed the usual. Since he was always drinking, the man was was pretty much always upset, anger brought on by the smallest things while intoxicated.

Even when aggressive, his father wasn't the type to display much energy, never being too loud when in a bad mood. His tone was still rather harsh, easily noticeable when he would argue with Elijah's mother. Whether it was verbal or physical, it didn't take long for those acts of aggression to settle down when everything was out of his system, which likely had something to due with his mother's lack of a response. Dealing with a person that never reacted probably made things boring for him.

Working, drinking, and arguing. That was pretty much all that there was to his father. He never had much of an opinion on the man while growing up. There certainly wasn't any affection between them, which could be said for everyone that lived in their home. Still, Elijah had some respect for him. Not really the respect one would have for a parent. It was probably more along the lines of what a pet felt towards their owner, receiving food and shelter each day. There really wasn't much to complain about.

Elijah's relationship with his mother wasn't much better. While his father had the bad habit of letting his emotions get to him, his mother had the opposite problem. In the house where it almost felt like speaking was some sort of taboo, the woman was the most silent of the three occupants, leaving her son to often wonder if she could talk at all.

It was quite clear that she held no positive feelings toward her husband, which was probably the only thing the two had in common, aside from their rough exteriors. It appeared as though they stayed together for convenience, rather than any emotional reason, merely putting up with each other. She never resisted when on the receiving end of his abuse, but that didn't mean that she wouldn't react in other ways.

She would often go out of her way to spite her husband, but never by openly confronting him. Whenever she had the chance, she would have Elijah learn about the things he disliked, primarily anything that involving computers. He never heard anything from her directly, merely having books filled with information lazily tossed his way,
but the boy always assumed that this was her own small form of revenge. Truthfully, he never gave it too much thought, simply reading whatever found its way to him. He wasn't particularly interested in learning about the subjects, but it wasn't as if there was anything else for him to do. It was the only thing that he had to deal with the sense of boredom, which he found to be the most troubling aspect of his life. As a result, he became quite knowledgeable about anything that involved electricity and had a blinking light.

By no means did he consider this way of life as something normal. He knew very well how dysfunctional his family was, something he became aware of after eventually being allowed to interact with other people in virtual reality. However, it was the only life he had known. He had grown accustomed to it, despite realizing how bad things were. Elijah viewed it with indifference, largely unconcerned.

As time moved onward, not much had changed, aside from his age. His life in the virtual world remained rather uneventful, spending most of his time in school or the Library at Sal-A-Tet. While he never had any trouble communicating with others, Elijah was never the type to make friends, always keeping to himself.

As for life at home in the real world, there was quite a stir on the day of his eighteenth birthday, greeted with the death of his father upon logging out of the digital space. It didn't take long to figure out what had caused it, not at all surprised that his mother was the one responsible. Honestly, he thought she would've done something like this much sooner. She must have waited until he became an adult and was able to support himself, putting up with an unsatisfactory life for several years instead of leaving behind a child with nobody to look after them. It was very considerate of her. In that respect, she at least had some qualities of a responsible parent.

Elijah didn't have much of an emotional reaction to the loss. He wasn't intentionally trying to be cold, but it was difficult to muster any form of grief when those involved felt more like strangers than family members. Even so, he still payed his respects, considering that they did raise him all these years.

At the time, his main concern was finding a source of income, left on his own to pay for bills and such. In the end, he would settle on taking the recently opened position in product distribution, the salary more than enough to support himself. It wasn't as if he had any other career in mind, lacking ambition and having no clear direction of where he wanted to go in life.

Elijah was never overly concerned with the potential risks involved with traversing the outside world while making deliveries, but he still made sure to be cautious. He always made sure to be aware of his surroundings, carefully doing his job without complaint. It felt more mundane than frightening, especially when constantly confronted with the same scenery of what the world had become. Although, he had no problems with that. The only issue that he ever had to deal with was the one that led to the premature end of his career.

When transporting goods, the man he often worked with wasn't in very high spirits. His memory of what he said on that particular day was vague, but it likely had something to do with his family, often hearing of the wife and daughter waiting for him back home. While not having much to talk about himself, Elijah was still willing to listen, knowing that speaking with someone else probably helped ease the guy's nerves during such a dangerous job.

While listening and responding with the occasional "yeah" and "is that so" in between the man's sentences, a rather unfortunate incident took place. With his coworker's lack of attention and the usual dangers of the outside world, it was natural that an accident would occur. The man thankfully came out of it unharmed, save for a few minor cuts and bruises, but Elijah hadn't been as lucky.

The accident left him with a pretty nasty scar on his face and a serious leg injury, losing all feeling in the damaged limb. It wasn't as though all hope was lost, having a chance at recovery if treated. Although, there was also a possibility that nothing would come of said treatment. Considering the costs of medical operations, he wasn't fond of the idea of paying for something that could end up solving nothing. Thus, he decided to accept things as they were.

Without the use of his leg, there wasn't much of a future left for him in product distribution, leading to the end of his career. Of course, the worker responsible for all this was apologetic, visibly plagued by guilt. Elijah didn't really hold it against him, not having anything to gain from doing so. It was best just to keep things between them, passing off what happened as an ordinary accident.

It took some time to adjust to his new handicap, but it didn't prove too troublesome, considering that it was as if nothing ever happened when he slipped on his visor and returned to Little City. It was still possible for him to live out a normal life there, unaffected by the results of his loss. It would have been simple for him to settle down and move on to something else, especially with his qualifications. However, he chose not to do so.

Elijah didn't see much point in furthering a life in an artificial reality. Receiving compensation from the accident, it wasn't really necessary for him to find a new line of work. There wasn't much he wanted to do anyways, everything he had done up until that point being a result of necessity or boredom.

His life hadn't changed much, aside from the free time he now found himself with. Apart from occasional trips to the library, Elijah's only other hobby was something he had inherited from his father. He never really spent money on anything aside from what he needed to keep on living, but alcohol was the exception. He wasn't as heavy of a drinker as his father, nor did he have fits of anger, but he often took to a glass when he had nothing better to do. In all honesty, everything tasted the same to him after a while, but it helped kill time and alleviated boredom pretty well. As a result, he became well-known by the people that worked in the small bars he spent most of his time in, even if he never gave his name.

Spending the days drinking, reading, and exercising to keep his damaged body in shape, Elijah was comfortable with his life of listlessness. It was only when he discovered his abilities as a Code Breaker that it began to show some change. While he had occasional visions as a child, he could now see the threads of data around him much more clearly. He considered that he may have just been hallucinating until he heard of those with the same abilities. Upon learning this information, Elijah quickly decided that he didn't want to get involved.

Not interested in drawing attention to himself, he kept his status hidden, for the most part. On occasion, he would help out others in need assistance if their problems could be solved with his skills, earning a bit of Kirito in the process. However, he never tackled anything beyond his capabilities and made sure to keep this information contained to a small circle of people in his home within Territory 2.

Part 2Ever since he was drafted into Pwnies, things have gotten a lot busier for Elijah. While it's now impossible to have the quiet life he's maintained for the last few years, the man has tried to at least keep the noise to a minimum. When troublesome situations arise, Elijah is there to lend a hand, but that's usually limited to jobs that would cause more problems for him if he remained uninvolved.

Aside from those cases, he's maintained as little contact with the guild as possible in an effort to keep his preferred lifestyle as close to what it once was. Even if he has proven to be dependable during the times when he's around, Pwnies was never something that he wanted to be a part of. However, he still doesn't have anything against his fellow members.

Even if he does tend to stay away from the larger group, Elijah has managed to stay on decent terms with some of the Code Breakers. While he's yet to converse with many of them, a few interesting people stand out in his mind. A librarian, an amusing Trojan, the junior master, and a candy-loving detective.

Overall, not much has changed in the month since he joined Pwnies, but there's the question of how long before things inevitably take a turn for the worse. Well, he'll deal with it when the time comes. Probably.

Bio:
Iliaya's life was never meant to be a complicated one, and she was never remarkable in her birth nor her standing as she aged in her bunker.

You see, Iliaya was born into a dangerous time in her bunker. It had been built larger, with more power resources. It's original operation had been a seed vault before the cataclysm, but it had been repurposed and expanded to fit a population of about 180 people, with hopes that they could re-seed the world. This meant custom hydroponics, experiments in false sunlight to stimulate plants, and hybridisation projects. But with all this extra equipment came extra risk for breakdown.

These risks would prove true when the vault suffered a major communications breakdown. While they were able to patch through a single message calling for replacement supplies, the bunker was cut off from the VR world. This last for three years, and while some would question how circumstances could become so drastic, they need only look at the habit of herd behavior and fear. The communications failure was the first in what became a cascade of failures in other systems while the bunker desperately awaited it's missing supplies.

At first it was a choice by the elderly and sickly. Brave, selfless, and understanding that their supplies were dwindling under the strain of a barely functional system, these souls marched out into the wastes, hoping to give those they left behind more time.

What followed became a process of drawing lots. Each week, to try to keep their numbers under their production capabilities, the leaders of the bunker would draw names, and then again, until they came down to a final name. They would go, in the night, to find that individual. It was never a fight, a simple explanation, and most people knew that when the leaders came, it was time, and they too would walk out into the wastes.

It was about balance, after all. They give out to the world with the hope that the world would deliver them the supplies they needed to fix their bunker.

It would be under this system that a 15 year old Iliaya would hear her father approached one night. It was something that she wasn't supposed to hear. She should have been asleep, but as she had her habits she was up late reading. Generally they hadn't come for parents, but times had become tougher. Two meals a day, not too terribly large either. Fear and desperation were powerful things and with almost 90 people to feed currently, the bunker was in a desperate position.

But Iliaya couldn't see her father go. If not for her, then for her younger sister Vala, who was attached to her father at the hip. She also, more than anything, feared to see what her mother would be like. She'd never seen her mother without a smile and a cheerful attitude. What would happen to her should her mother lose that spark.

So she made the choice to face the wastelands herself.

If you ask her, she still couldn't tell you everything about her time outside. It was night, so the heat didn't get her immediately. Despite this between the still high temperatures, a lack of water and pure luck, Iliaya came back, near delirious, but with three things. The first as a crudely drawn map that led to an underground cavern with a broken ceiling. In the cavern was the wrecked vehicle carrying all the supplies the needed to repair their bunker. The next two items were unique oddities. The first was a single, solitary flower. It had bloomed deep in the cave, receiving indirect sunlight safe from the scorching heat. The second was a ruined book speaking of a balance to the world, that their is a god and goddess, the Father, the Judging Sun, and the Mother, the Nurturing Moon, that watch over and gift those that give for good cause.

For her people at the vault it was a miracle. Not only that she was able to return days later, having survived in the cavern on sparse water before making her way home, but that she was able to bring back the location of everything they needed to repair their bunker and return to a normal means of life. It truly had to have been the will of the Father and Mother that watched this selfless child leave willingly go, not because she was picked by lotto, but because she wanted to, and that this was their reward.

It was a short time later that the bunker managed to repair it's primary systems, then secondary, and then finally return it's occupants to the virtual world, each with a new respect for the life they held, and a new outlook on the world as a whole.

For Iliaya, she simply wanted to get back online and perhaps return to a simpler life. Not that she minded her real one, but she was heralded a saint by her bunker, and was often lauded for it.

So imagine her surprise when, upon her return to VR, that she learned she could manipulate code.

Clearly a gift from the Father and Mother, of course, it was time Iliaya figured out what to do with it.
