The Outer Rim: distant, lawless, divided. Far from civilized Republic space, little legislation is recognized in these territories. What government does exist, falls under the control of corporations and criminal empires. Settlements, few and far between on most outer worlds, find themselves forced to contribute to their bottom lines or be wiped from the map entirely. One of the few benefits of these arrangements is protection from the wilds. Most of the rim's planets remain untamed, stalked by beasts and wandered by tribals. Even the most knowledgeable homesteaders may taste defeat and be beaten back into their blue collar communities.

This is the home of the 417th Pathfinder Division...

The Division's latest frontier assignment: an unassuming resource world designated as Frontora. A world of canyons, red rocks, and plateaus, it has been continually colonized by intrepid homesteaders under corporate contracts since roughly 30 BBY. The organizations funding these efforts, such as the Techno Union, have established these communities around the mining of rare minerals, the pumping of crude fuel, and even lumber. In recent years, more and more entrepreneurs have been drawn to this world in hopes of joining these colonies or kick starting their own operations. It now seems that competition is heating up on Frontora, as old powers and new parties vye for control of resources and land. Furthermore, since the onset of the clone wars, it seems more militaristic forces have also begun to utilize this distant world.

The technology of the CIS, specifically equipment used by their dreaded droid army, has consistently evolved at a staggering pace. It seems that every battle reveals some new super weapon aimed to contest the GAR. Examples of this include the heavy cruiser
Malevolence, a fleet crippler that plagued the 104th, and advanced armor encountered by the 501st during the second battle of Geonosis. Weapons such as these, though limited, have drawn much attention from Republic Intelligence throughout the war. The hunt for their development worlds has been ongoing, and it seems that continued efforts from various departments have finally produced results.

Production worlds were never the true mystery, the presence of droid foundries and shipyards on occupied worlds is common knowledge. Science worlds, hosting military testing facilities, were always the "big fish" Republic Intelligence are continually seeking to fry. It is suspected that Frontora may be becoming one of these worlds. CIS activity seems to have kicked up in the sector, though no official warships have been able to be tracked all the way back to the planet. What has tipped off agents, is a number of apprehended privately contracted freighters hauling CIS supplies. After interrogating crews and examining nav computers, it seems Frontora has been one of many destinations for a number of these mercenaries. This evidence led to much debate in the senate as to whether a military incursion to the world is warranted.

The Techno Union were quick to criticize this proposal and push for its dismissal. This was to be expected of them, considering the number of sponsored settlements they possessed on Frontora. There was also a brief inquiry regarding the validity of the evidence collected from mercenaries, as technically speaking they would have every right to work for both the Galactic Republic or CIS through corporate neutrality. This investigation was spurred forward mainly by the Trade Federation, but investigation into the matter came to a swift end when it was discovered these mercenaries had committed previous hostilities against the GAR. With that settled and the vote cast, the senate did eventually rule in favor of an incursion. Preparations were to be made.

The 417th Division was the obvious choice for such an undertaking. They possessed experience with similar terrain and excelled in far flung warfare, though at the time of the senate's vote they did lack numbers. To reinforce the Division, a new brigade was to be raised. Currently nearing the end of their training, the new 4th Brigade is entering its final phase of preparation for the invasion of Frontora. The operation, designated Operation Thunderbird , will first utilize the 4th and 2nd Brigade of the division in one of the largest airborne drop operations ever conducted thus far. With each brigade assigned to take their own plateaus, each the size of a small country, they'll be the first to regroup and secure the first landing points for the rest of the division (1st and 3rd). To assist the 4th in this endeavor, "veteran" companies have been integrated into their composition (roughly 24 companies across 6 battalions) in order to set an example and assist fresher companies on the ground. After almost a year and a half of planning and training, troops both seasoned and fresh from simulations are nearly ready to deploy.

Are we restricted to CTs or are Jedi commanders and/or mercenaries allowed as well?

For right now, I’m thinking CTs. The Jedi commander would be hanging with battalion command. However, perhaps a padawan could somehow end up rolling with the squad if you’re interested.

I'd be super down for this. Whatever you need; CT, ARC, CC, Padawan - let me know, and I can play it.

Alright, let’s get this character sheet up. Do to the lack of players you will be allowed to play as two troopers if you so choose. I’ll be playing the team lead and machine gunner, unless someone already wants that character. The CS will be up soon.

BUMP

We're about three posts into the actual role play, nothing anyone can't catch up on with roughly a minute or two of reading. Rules have been updated to allow people to play two troopers instead of just one now. The kinds of troopers that can be played can be found here: Futuristic - Pathfinders: A Clone Wars Story (OOC). This thread will also state who has already claimed what roles.
