Character Sheet: Varis NaÏlo

Backstory:

Varis was born on the outskirts of Daggerford in one of the many hamlets. His father, Kerri, a human, and his mother, Shava, an elf. From the time he was a baby he had paler skin than most, and had the strangest of nightmares. It was always the same, a gloomy, stale, atmosphere where everything was dark and decaying. Ravens were the only thing he could pick out that was from the world around him. When he could explain these nightmares his father turned bleak, for he had once been sent to the Shadowfell. As Varis explained his father knew something had latched onto him and been transferred to his son.

Varis’ parents kept any information they had away from him and sent him to a monastery in the forest away from civilization in order to rid him of these dreams or break his connection to the Shadowfell. He continued to have dark, bloodthirsty dreams, when he explained them the priests would try varying methods to exercise his thoughts such as meditation, leeching, beating, or therapy. When he would get blood let barely anything would come of it. The leeches would garner more from the hand of the priest when being pulled off than the body of Varis. Another boy in the monastery had a glass orb with a raven-like figure in it to which Varis found as his closest friend. His newfound friend Jassan would tell him stories of what he learned and the Shadowfell. They would bond over their similar dreams, and Varis learned much more from this boy than he did the priests. Jassan told him of the ravens and how the land was of the dead, not the living. When the boy left he gave Varis the orb saying he was rid of his possessor and hoped it would help Varis find or rid of his own.

On his own now inside the monastery he prized his time for meditation, he would discover all sorts of new places inside his dream world and it gave him abilities as time grew on. Being a half-elf already he could see in the dark, but now when he peered out his window he could see further into the distance at night. After a couple of years in the monastery Varis left in the night, taking his glass orb as one of his few possessions trying to find the true meaning behind his powers. It pained him that the monastery had hid information from him that he desperately wanted to know. Leaving fully grown, he was a taller half-elf, he had pale skin and vibrant blonde hair. His blonde hair was the only animated part of his appearance, his eyes a dull grey, a rounded jaw line, and slender build draped in muted clothing. Varis’ body had almost appeared as if he was a remnant of the Shadowfell living amongst the mortal plane, after all he was there frequently in his mind. Deep in thought, he would often wake from laying under a tree having it be in the wee hours of the morning, and he desired the night, feeling almost as if he was at home. He wound up now in the city of Daggerford searching for clues into why he was connected into the shadowfell and what it means.

Character Sheet:

On your spell sheet please mark that you have 2 slots under Max as well.

I suggest marking your background feature on your sheet as well -- it may come up in a campaign since it can be far more general than some other features.

Your attack bonus for crossbow and daggers would be +5 -- DEX+PROF. Daggers are finesse, I doubt with a -1 str you'd be using that for attacking when you could use dexterity. So daggers would be +5 to hit, 1d4+3 damage.

Please also mark that you have 1 hit dice, not just the max.

Character Background:

I don't see much that needs changing -- seems to cover all the bases fairly well!
