Bergen of the House Adair, The First of Her Name
I have an insane craving to do a modern-day version of the Orpheus/Eurydice greek myth, preferably with more than one partner but one person willing to play multiple characters would work too.
The original myth goes something like this:
Orpheus is a demi-god, the son of the sun god Apollo and the muse Calliope. Orpheus is an extremely talented musician and nothing can resist the charms of his music. He falls in love with Eurydice, a beautiful oak nymph, and the two are happily married for a time, but the god of marriage predicts this happiness will be short-lived. One day Eurydice is wandering in the forest and is bitten by a snake and died. Orpheus, overcome by grief, writes such a beautifully moving song that the gods decide to help him. With Apollo's blessing he descends to the realm of Hades to ask to reclaim his wife's soul. He plays a melody which is so beautiful Hades agrees to help him, but under one condition: he may bring Eurydice's soul back from the underworld as long as he does not look back at her until they are back in the light of the mortal world. Orpheus agrees, and begins his journey back; but he cannot hear Eurydice's steps and believes the gods have tricked him. He looks back and sees the shadow of his lover's soul following him, but because he has broken his word she is whisked back to Hades. He dies soon after and they are reunited in Elysium.
The modern twist to this myth will have a short love story preamble to develop the relationship between the characters and will include a mixture of mythos (Greek, Egyptian, Pagan, Christian, Islamic, whatever partners are interested to add). The ending definitely doesn't have to be the same, and any additional love interests or obstacles in the way of the reuniting of the characters can totally be discussed.
Characters needed (3-6)
Orpheus character
Eurydice character
Human friend/s
Godly/Mythical guide for Orpheus character
Various ghosts, monsters, mythicals, and spirits to encounter or travel with the pair
(Names and personalities should probably be similar to the originals but can definitely have a modern/personal twist)
Anyone interested?
