The City
Panorama city is a large metropolis roughly 2/3rds the size of New York city. With Dense woods to the north, Flat plains to the south, The Rocky mountains to the west ,and a large river to the east it has the ideal landscape for almost everyone with almost the perfect climate, and unusually pronounced seasons. Many buisnesses have their headquarters stationed in the downtown sectors, one of the nations most prominent universities is found in the around the historical district which is also home to a number of museams and government buildings. Residential areas have strict HOA's which keep the streets clean and tidy. Unfortunatly crime is also very prominent in such a successful City, but the police are some of the best trained in the country so for the most part its a safe and happy life.
Thats at least the appearance of the city. In reality the city is located in a soft spot between dimensions creating a large bubble of in-between space called purgatory. The pressence of which generayes a type of spectral radiation that effects certain people turning them into Endymions. Endymions being able to battle the angels and demons that creep in from the adjacent dimensions has turned the Spectral state of the city into a hellish landscape filled with danger that is only apparent to a handful within the city. With Spectral radiation now permeating the very landscape, Flora, and Fauna these dangers of purgatory threaten to bleed out into the material world. Strangely enough a copy of this city exists in purgatory, Heaven, and Hell.
The Otherworlds
Material realm- this is the actual physical world we all know and love...or hate i guess it depends on your experience. Point is demons and angels cannot enter this realm and can only influence the kinds and hearts of the humans here in minor ways. Endymions are immune to this influence however possess no powers in the material world other than being able to sense things in purgatory and enter the dimension at will.
Heaven- the realm of angels and the place where orderly and good souls go when they die at least according to he mythos. However its not all harps and feathery wings here. Angels are beibgs that are hard to look at, being both terrifying and beautiful with auras that can cause weak beings like humans to die from their pressence alone. Heaven itself is unbelievably orderly with everything being scheduled and provided and no deviation being tolerated.
Hell- the realm of demons and apparently where wicked and chaotic beings go when they die. Hell is the polar opposite of heaven, everything is taken from you and nothing can be planned for as it is a pure chaotic realm where only the whims of the twisted denizens exist. Unlike the demons from myths these beings are not deal makers but rather cruel beings who will lie and slaughter with littke regard for anything.
Purgatory- A strange middleground realm that is a copy of the material world. However it is devoid of life and demons, angels, and Endymions are able to enter this realm in their full powered states. The realm is seemingly ever regenerating and smashing people through the buildings of the realm will only destroy the structures temporarily as they rebuild themselves. Recently insects and small animals have been seen in the realm some of them being unrecognizable as lifeforms of earth.
The Beings
Endymions- Humans who were exposed to massive amounts of spectral radiation and possessed a unique trait that absorbed the radiation and maitained it. Endymions gain the ability to sense things in purgatory, and eventually enter the realm assuming a Spectral form with amazing power, enough to battle on even terms with angels and demons. The powers of Endymions fit a central theme unique to each Endymion. Endymions can also sense the amount of power another Endymion, angel, or demon posseses. Finally their time in purgatory is dependant upon the power of their forms and the training they undergo. More powerful forms are harder to maintain and dissipate faster.
Angels- contrary to popular belief While almost always graceful angels are rarely beautiful. Seemingly living machines in nature they come in all shapes and sizes and all their forms almost boggle the mind. They serve to enforce the will of their creator, which means to enslave all and enforce an empire of order on earth and hell. Though humans often times view them as good these beings are neither good nor evil and instead are embodiements of Order.
Demons- The ever reincarnating species hailing from the dimension we call hell. Unlike the angels these beings are obviously organic often tines with weapons grafted onto them. They are horribly mutated to the point where no demon looks the same as another. However the grotesque abominations are not the ones to worry about. The demons who look less mutated are often more powerful as greater power allows one to control their mutations. Due to a distinct lack of resources in the demon realms demons find themselves either as food, or as members of an army belonging to one of the 13 demon lords. However due to the fact that they reincarnate upon death this fate is usually an eternal one.
