Hobbits are a small folk, farmers, and friends of nature.

They are, like Dwarves, short, but they are not quite as stout. Rather, their bellies are rounder. They have slightly big ears, in which small tufts of hair could be found, as the ones on their big, bare feet. Their hair is curly and different shades either black or brown, and sometimes grey. They only grow beards at a very old age, and other than that they have no facial hair. The soles of their feet are thick, and allow them to wander bare-footed, meaning that most Hobbits don't wear footwear. Their eyes could be either brown or blue.

Hobbits are a peaceful folk. They live in a beautiful land of hills and plains called Hobbiton, in tunnels that could be accessed by round doors. Each front door of a Hobbit Hole is surrounded by a wooden fence, lead to by a stone path, and faced with a most beautiful garden of flowers and bushes. Their farms consist mainly of apple trees and vegetables (such as corn, carrots, lettuce, and potatoes (PO-TAY-TOES)), but they also grow berries, grapes and strawberries in special patches. Many other trees, such as willow, exist in the shire as well. They get their water from the river that crosses Hobbiton, and the many streams that branch off it.

They have small horses, known as Hobbit Ponies, that they ride, use them to pull carts, or work farms. Hobbit ponies are not as strong as other, larger, horses, and are more used among men as pack animals. They are used by Hobbit sheriffs (who wear distinct hats that have a single feather or a straw of wheat each) for transportation. Hobbit Ponies, however, are not found inside the Great Smials, which are accessed by large stone buildings built around Hobbiton.

While Hobbits are, indeed, peaceful, they still know how to fight. They can use rocks better than any other creatures, short swords, knives, daggers, and small yet powerful bows. They also make excellent cooks, which could be explained by their unmatched love for food. They also love parties and celebrations and fireworks, and the sky over the vast land of Hobbiton could always be found lit by the beautiful and unique shapes and colours.

Hobbits are the only creatures known to be able to use Eplite; a metal created from the eyes of a dire wolf combined with mithril. Eplite is dangerous to all other creatures (with the exception of demons and, perhaps, Elves), but not to Hobbits, and could be used to slay dragons. Considering the vast amounts of mithril found in Hobbiton, and the fact that packs of dire wolves wander too close to the houses of halflings at times, they have a decent amount of Eplite at their disposal.
