Roleplay Type(s)
The Djinn are a mystic race that belong to the sandy dunes of the Eastern desert, also known as Genies.

In height they are quite large, towering over most other creatures, including many demons. In appearance, they share only one feature, that is that they can change their bottom half (or any part of their body, for that matter) into what seems like smoke. Other than that, they are quite different. All Djinn are shape shifters as well, which means that they cannot be identified by shape alone as individuals.

Their magic is near limitless, but not always as strong. Some Djinn are elementals, which means they excel in specific elements and are weaker in most others. Another type of Djinn would be Chaotic Djinn, which exist for the sake of causing chaos and anarchy among the people. There are Mystic Djinn, which are the most powerful (and rare) of all, and they excel at everything. There are also Dark Djinn, who, unlike their name implies, are not evil, but are rather named so after their powers; manipulating and using darkness. They can summon treasures from the shadows, and their curses are almost unbreakable. For this, they were worshipped as gods by nomadic tribes of the dessert.

While a Djinn's powers are unmatched and almost limitless, they can still be enslaved. Unlike demons, however, they are not hosted inside a body, and cannot always act of their own. Rather, they are imprisoned inside artifacts, usually smaller and more portable objects such as lanterns, goblets, orbs..etc. Very few Djinn currently roam free, and sometimes they could be found disguised as merchants, with camels or donkeys pulling their wagons. They could also be encountered messing around in the 'wild'.

When an artifact that holds a Djinn is taken by a person, the Djinn becomes at their service, willingly or not. They can command the Djinn, and the Djinn has to obey. Different Djinn work differently when it comes to smaller details, but they all share the same set of main rules.

  • A Djinn may find a loophole in their holder's command, unless there is none.
  • If a Djinn is wielded by two masters (as in both wield the artifact at the same moment), and is given contradictory commands, they may choose to obey whichever, or none at all.
  • A Djinn could only be freed if a spell is cast by the wielder.
  • If a Djinn is given contradictory commands by the same master, they may obey the latter or the former.
  • A Djinn may obey the command according to his/her understanding, and not what is meant.
  • A Djinn cannot grant their master eternal life or anything of that sort.
  • A Djinn may assassinate his or her holder if said Djinn is left released during the holder's sleep. This can only be done with a tool from the mortal world; tools summoned by the Djinn would not work. Strangling works as well.
  • A free Djinn has no master.
