Demons are powerful beings.
They are great in size and might, as is their magic, but no two demons are identical. Many demons represent something else in the Physical Realm, like sickness or darkness or fear. But they also represent good things like joy or light. Some demons have horns or wings or tails, or eyes covering their whole bodies, or a hundred arms perhaps. Some are green or red or blue. Some are formless, and some are shape shifters. Indeed, their magic is most unique.
They can be brought to the Physical Realm when they are summoned. They could either be summoned physically, meaning they will be free to do what they will, or can be hosted in the body of the summoner, meaning the summoner can mentally commune with said demon and can tap into the demon's powers. With a few exceptions, when the summoner is killed, the demon will be sent back to the Other Realm. One could release a demon from their body if they wish, releasing said demon into the world, or could send the demon back to the Other Realm. When a demon is summoned, it must be on an altar, and a version of itself will appear on said altar, able to speak with the summoner, but unable to do anything else, until it is released or hosted by the summoner.
There are also demon lords, who are more powerful demons. They are identified by power and only by power. That being said, they aren't much different than 'normal' demons.
There are also lesser demons, who are less powerful ones. Just like demon lords, they are only identified by power.
