Umbra Regalia

There's no place like 127.0.0.1
No longer do we live in freedom. Rather we live in captivity, surrounded by walls that protect us from those beyond it. We live in cities ravaged by both monstrous creatures and our own economy. We live beneath the protection of those who protect the walls and those who live behind them, we named them Weavers. We live in fear of the red eyes silhouettes, we named them Reapers. We've already been torn apart, our families no longer holding each others' hands. Now, they blame each other for the deaths of those they lost within the years before the walls. The years before Weave.

Eleven years have already passed since we could sit comfortably in front of our television screens watching the drama unfold. When we were told to escape to the nearest airport where the military would protect us, panic revealed itself in the form of two glowing red eyes and sharp black claws that tore apart our sense of safety. They had no name at that time, and were simply called monsters. They killed as many as they could, snatching small children as they tried to follow their parents to safety. They preyed on the weak, and the strong let them do so. The military said they could only help so many, and so only twenty percent of our kind survived worldwide. Eighty percent died horribly by the claws of the dark figures, and no one could help.

We were homeless for months, barely scraping by on the food supplied by the military. Then, we heard the name Weave uttered beneath the breaths of many soldiers, hope filtering into their eyes once more.

"Weave, they're coming to save us. We're going to survive."

"Weave is going to help us."

"Weave will kill the monsters."

But, with every other case, there was controversy. Though, in this situation, there weren't that many who disagreed with the safety Weave offered us all.

"Weave is experimenting on humans."

"Weave is creating monsters."

"Weave won't help us."

They were wrong for the most part. While Weave did recruit soldiers to insert strange parts into their chests, no one could deny how much they've helped within the last eleven years. They were going to save us.

Our sons and daughters gave their lives to Weave, who did their best to keep those lives within their hands rather than the claws of the monsters who stood just outside the walls. Though many died, legends showed their faces to the public and were paraded as heroes. The simple designs of Cores near the beginning of the monsters' attack were just enough to allow the soldiers to bring down the numbers of the silhouetted creatures exponentially. Though, when a second kind of monster appeared, this type of Core was no longer enough. The monsters regained their standing as top of the food chain and tore through Weave's walls of attack before they could react. They took countless lives, earning them the title of Reapers.

Now named, these creatures were the cause of everyone's fear and anxiety. When would the next city fall, and which would it be? Would it be Tokyo, New York, Amsterdam, Berlin, Ottawa, or would it be another? Who would be the next to die? Those were just a few of the questions constantly sitting at the back of everyone's minds.

Three types of Reapers have showed their faces, and because of this the Cores placed inside Weavers have been upgraded to give them the ability to defend against these savage creatures. While the fight against the Reapers will always be a struggle, Weave has managed to stabilize the fight and at times even turn the tables ever so slightly. Now, with new types of Reapers revealing themselves left and right, Weave has no choice but to recruit more and more soldiers to fight the crimson-eyed threat.

Within the roleplay, the events will take place around the main base in Toronto, and while this doesn't mean your characters can't be from other places it does mean we won't be spending time in settings outside of the general area of south Ontario, Canada.

Also, this roleplay may cover some themes not everyone is comfortable with such as rape (there won't be any scenes of it, though it is a large element in two of Weave's higher ranking members) mental illness, and other "angsty" subjects. If you're a little iffy about that part and want to know how far these themes extend, maybe pm one of the GMs though we may have to spoil some things to paint a clear picture. Though, we're going to do our best to make sure we don't cause anyone to be uncomfortable with the roleplays content.
