Opening Scene
The sun had finally begun to set, dipping it's self gently into the water on the horizon, giving off just enough light to bathe the beach in a warm orange glow, as the stars far above began to peek out just as slowly. Anticipating the rising full moon, ready to join it's luminescence with their own.

The universe held its breath while waiting for the solar blaze to finish it's agonizingly paced extinguishment.

In the meantime, people buzzed around the dimming beach side, moving coolers and barbecue grills, tarps and tables. It was time for a party, the first chapter to a story already in started.

"Once again I can't thank you two enough for your charity. The town's been tight on budget for a while now, but with since we've had a few more wealthier home owners settling in, projections look good. Another thing I should thank you for, the hospitality you two have given to the town council has been more than we could every really repay" the Mayor said with sincere appreciation in her eyes as she gazed out towards the dying sunset. She finally got to relax a little, right in the middle of another campaign, and with a large fire less than five hundred miles away, things we're increasingly stressful for the woman.

"No need to thank us Heather, I grew up here too, and Chinmi just really enjoys financial mapping. "

"She's right about that. " Chinmi responded to Rin's comment "And besides, with Piyeone coming back to town, especially after everything she's been through, it was the least we could do for her birthday. Two birds, one stone and all that. The girl could use some friends, and what better way to get her acquainted. If anything we should be thanking you. " The short woman finished as she leaned gently on her wife.

"Either way, I couldn't have done all this without you two. Now if you lovebirds will excuse me, there's some things I should go look over. A mayor never sleeps, but I'll make time to catch some drinks later. " Heather smiled and waved as she walked off leaving the two Aunts alone together, both taking the moment to enjoy each other's embrace as they quietly watched the last bit of light retreat beneath the waves.

Candle Kid

"Running out of light and state of mind"

Piyeone wasn't so used to so many people waving and smiling at her, stopping for small chit chat before continuing on with their work setting up the party, or just giving her some gesture of acknowledgement. Most of them wishing her a happy birthday, while others expressed their gratitude towards her Aunts involvement, paying for most of the event. It was easy to forget that they were rather successful and shrewd business women, making waves in the surrounding towns in cities. The home they lived at was the same one she grew up in, a large but rather modest hut like building out at the edge of town. Nothing about them really screamed money. Well, except for their suits and their cars.

Piyeone was a bit lost of what to do, or who to talk to. So she had ended up at the waterfront at some point, simply strolling along and performing a bit of tumbling here and there. Taking time to enjoy basking in the night air, one of her favorite pastimes. The salt and sand from the sea gave it a bit of a tinge, but nothing unpleasant, in fact she was rather refreshed by the scents. Bringing back memories and a deep sense of nostalgia from her past in Candle Cape.

Though it wasn't all so pleasant. While few and far between there were still memories of her parents before they had abandoned not just her but the entire family. They had grown up here too-

No, she didn't need them, nor did she need to fixate on their shitty self absorbed non-parenting. It was her birthday, and she would enjoy it.

As she continued to cartwheel and leap her way across the sand the pink haired girl eventually came across and odd sight. It was a large conch half buried in the sand, which she picked up curiously, looking over the object with fascination. She considered putting it up to her ear and trying to hear the ocean, though she realized it was kind of redundant when she was already right there. However Piyeone didn't get a chance to try as a seagull squaked above, causing her to jump. It flew in a big circle before eventually swooping down to land on the soft sand before the girl. "Go away! shoo!" she yelled softly at the creature, but it only twitched it's head to the side before taking a slow step forward. Piyeone froze. "G-go away!" she shouted a bit louder this time, but the seagull continued it's careful approach.

It twitched again and Piyeone took a step back, still the thing kept coming at her. Taking three steps back, then four, the creature started sprinting, opening its wings wide, flapping madly. She shrieked and stumbled, throwing the shell still in her hand at the seagull. The object crashed into the sand, shattering into tons of tiny fragments, but most importantly scared away the demon bird that had tried to murder her.

Piyeone's fear of birds obviously wasn't going let her off easy in Candle Cape. It was only a matter of time before there would be another, a chilling thought which legitimately made her all that much more anxious to be in this strange new environment.

'I wonder...this is certainly some party.' Jyannette had been invited to the party on the water front by some kindly old people when she was drinking her tea at the local cafe she started visiting almost weekly since she had moved to Candle Cope in early summer. She had finally come back to the states after being away for over a year on missions around the world, and she was glad for it. She had missed the country, and most of all her family. She was walking down the Main Street, towards the ocean side where the kindly old couple had pointed out the party to her earlier that day.

Taking in a deep breath of the ocean air, she was glad to be alive. Seeing the clean ocean and smelling the salty air, she was extremely happy to had made the decision to move here. It was a fresh start after the things she had seen in Congo. Jyannette took off her sandals and dug her feet into the sand feeling the residual warmth of the day, and knelt down to also put one hand into the sand. She sighed happily and felt the air in her dreads, strong enough to lift them up some and flutter behind her.

That was when she heard a shriek a couple of paces away from her. She immediately looked the way of the scream, and saw a girl with pink hair ducking it out with a seagull. She burst into laughter, even though she knew some people where actually terrified of birds. 'Fears are like that, but it truly doesn't make it any less funny...'

Lennox didn't really want to be here. It was too loud, and the bright lights were piercing his eyes and he kept blinking and turning his head, probably looking like a total idiot, to avoid looking at them for too long. Lennox never liked bright lights, nor talking, nor loud sounds- being around them felt like repetitive horrible banging on his brain.

But his mom and step-dad insisted he should go with them. He hadn't wanted to disappoint them, so he was here, at the edge of the ocean, surrounded by people talking and lights piercing his eyes through the darkness.

He sat on a bench, hands together and rocking a bit to try and distract from the lights, next to his mom and step-father as they talked happily with some older folks. When he heard a shriek nearby, he looked up and saw a pink-haired girl running from a seagull. He laughed a bit, then felt guilty for laughing. Seagulls could be aggressive.

Lennox took out his phone to scroll through Twitter for a bit, though it was hard to focus with all the lights piercing his eyes and all the talking going on around him. He was only barely resisting running off to be in a dimmer, quieter place out of not wanting to disappoint his parents, who were convinced he was childishly lying about his sensitivities to the lights and noise out of a desire to get out of things- which wasn't the case at all. But it was really starting to get on his nerves.

Sebastian Mors

MOOD: Concerned.
LOCATION: The Beach

INTERACTIONS: Piyeone
Sebastian grinned as walked along the beach, the water a few feet to his right. The sound of the ocean waves and gulls filled the air. He could almost taste the saltwater. It had been far too long since his last venture to the beach, since work kept him indoors most of the time. Sebastian turned to face the waves, his hands sliding into his swimming trunk pockets. The dipping sun cast a familiar orange hue across the sky. Though loved being locked in the kitchen, there was something about being out here, taking in the fresh ocean air and tasting the saltiness on his tongue. The view reminded him of the cake Pedro prepared last year for some tiny person's party. The kid couldn't go to the beach because of something crazy like he was allergic to fish, but the poor kid had a love for the ocean.

Sebastian couldn't imagine being allergic to fish. Never being able to swim in the ocean or lakes would simply suck, but that didn't compare to not being able to eat the fish he prepared daily at CandLight. Sure, there were worse things in life, but not much worse for a cook. The sound of giddy laughter behind him made him smile. When he glanced back he saw two kids standing next to a sandcastle. At least, an attempted sandcastle. It looked more like a mound with a halfhearted moat. The boy and girl couldn't be much older than eight or nine. The blonde boy ran past Sebastian to scoop water into his pail before dashing back to the short brunette. The girl nodded, pointing to the empty moat. In his haste to do as she commanded, the boy squashed the bridge, which earned him a pop on the back of the head. Sebastian chuckled as the boy rubbed his head. He stuck his tongue out at the girl before dumping the water into the moat. The pair exchanged a few words before he started repairing the bridge.

"Oh, to be young again," Natalie said as she approached Sebastian. "You dodging my texts?" She crossed her arms, her brown hair in a high bun with those blue eyes trained on him. Slowly Seb glanced at her, meeting her glowering gaze. Her crimson lips were straight, as though she needed to emphasize her displeasure.

"No," Seb said. "This is my first break of the day," he added for good measure. "Don't you have a date to get ready for anyway?" Natalie was his oldest friend, one of the only ones that stuck around. Most of his high school friends left Candle Cape. All of them pursuing high education, whether that meant out of state or out of the country. Something about getting away from the "simple" life. Sebastian felt differently and so did Natalie. She started at a community college before transferring those credits to a school that offered what she wanted, but she chose to pursue that degree online. He was grateful she stuck around, even if she constantly poked her nose into his business. It felt nice having someone who cared enough to nag at him.

"It's just Toby," she said before her eyes widened. "Crap."

Seb laughed. "That's why you wouldn't tell me?" He pushed her shoulder before carrying on down the beach. Ahead he saw people shuffling to and fro, some hauling grills while others set up chairs and filled large coolers. The setting sun meant the party would soon be in full swing, but it wouldn't be like the parties from high school - not that he minded. "So, he finally wore you down."

"We've all changed, so maybe he has too," Natalie said as she walked beside him.

"Oh. So it has nothing to do with...uhm. What is it that those youngins say? Glow-up?"

Natalie chuckled as she nodded. "That certainly helped, but I am only half that shallow. He grew a sense of humour too."

Seb laughed before a shriek caught his attention. A little way in front of him was someone with pink hair. The girl floundered before tossing a shell at the seagull in front of her. Moving a little quicker, Sebastian shouted, "Hey, you okay?"

"I'll tell you about it later," Natalie quickly added before walking back the way she came.

Alison squinted in the mirror, trying to tilt her head to catch it in the good light as she put the finishing touches on her light makeup. It wasn't much more than the "no-makeup" look she often wore to work at the cafe, but it wasn't that often she got the occasion to put a little more effort into her appearance, and damnit if she wasn't going to take that chance. With a satisfied smile she flicked open the medicine cabinet to set everything back inside before closing it, taking one more look in the mirror and heading on her way. She had the evening off, what with the party and all it didn't make sense to have the cafe open, half the town was probably going. She snagged her purse from a hook by the door on her way out of the apartment, slinging it over her shoulder and stepping out onto the street. The purse was big enough to hold her sketchbook and pens, which she'd gotten in the habit of taking everywhere, as well as just about everything else she wanted with her at any time. A bright smile drew across her lips as she wandered down towards the beach, cutting through side streets and familiar avenues, occasionally tugging out her phone to aimlessly scroll on instagram or check the time before putting it back.

It was a wonderful summer evening, the weather warm enough for her light sundress but the breeze off the ocean keeping it from getting to the point she might worry about sweating. Just as she emerged from a winding path between two houses, she caught the sunset out over the water, drawing her grin wider as she quickly dug into her purse for a camera. She was just a bit slow, so by the time she had it out and took a picture, it was more a photo of the aftermath of the sunset, the faint line of red along the horizon and lighting the sky. It was still a good shot, an left Ally's pleasant mood undimmed as she stowed the older but well cared for camera back in her purse and started to wander her way down the beach towards where lights had been set up, enjoying the breeze ruffling her dress.

It seemed like they'd really gone all out this year, going above and beyond to set up a little corner of the beach for the party. String lights, candles, and more tables than she'd expected, even hearing that it was doubling as a bit of a birthday or welcome back party for a girl who'd been away or something. Though it made sense, if she remembered right, her aunts were a total power couple, badass business women and all that, fucking goals if you asked her. Well, aside from the whole business thing, she had more than enough of that in managing, if her whole job was paperwork she'd tear her hair out. As she got closer to the site of the party, the beach grew more populated and Ally could indulge in a preferred past time of people watching while she walked, observing the mix of familiar and new faces milling about. Some were obviously finishing setting things up, her eyes caught on an older couple -- at least she guessed they were a couple by the way they worked together -- putting the finishing touches on some lights, others loitering about or just showing up as she was. She curled a strand of her hair between her fingers and peered around, trying to get a sense for where everything and everyone was.

A shriek caught her attention and she followed most people's gaze to where a girl seemed to have been startled by a particularly mean gull, she seemed okay enough, and there were a handful of people by her in case she wasn't so Ally turned her attention back to the main body of the party. A small line had formed at a table with some coolers, probably the drinks, and she kept half an eye in that direction to see if the line would go down as she wandered through the party, smiling and greeting familiar faces, whether friends or regulars at the cafe. She was flitting around the gathering crowd, though never quite settling in to talk to anybody for more than a minute or two before making an excuse and stepping away, only to quickly find herself in another conversation. It wouldn't be long before she started wanting to get away from the main party.

The streaks of orange light lanced through the sky as it started to darken, the few clouds that still floated lazily in the air briefly illuminated as they continued their slow journey across the ocean to lands unknown. The buzz of the crowd was loud, yet quiet, the individual voices regardless of tone or level all blended together to create a 'buzz' that seemed to permeate through the air, it surrounded and encased all as if determined to suffocate the individual and draw them into the great mass. If one tried, they could make out the ocean as the waves rolled almost as if it awaited the arrival of the moon, the full moon that would tug and pull on the waves to encourage their endless assault on the sandy beach, the smell of food in the air tainted with just a bit of salt from the ocean and, ever so faintly, the squawks of hungry gulls waiting for the foolish humans to leave their food unprotected so that they, the true lords of the beach, could feast. Many would consider it beautiful, picturesque, a true slice of americana... Callum Baker was not one of those people, in fact, with every fiber of his being, he hated it. He hated the crowd that gathered to happily gorge themselves on the food as they made small talk, pretended to like one another as they gleefully spread rumors of the others, hated the taste of salt in the air, how it made him feel 'sticky' despite being away from the water, hated the buzz of conversation that made it damn near impossible to hear anyone unless he leaned down to them. Not that he was, particularly, in any rush to socialize with complete strangers. Cal's blue eyes jumped once more to the orange streaks of lights that pierced the blue sky and for a moment, just a moment, as a soft breeze came through, he thought that Kaylee would have loved it. She would have been so shy and terrified of the people, probably a single second away from a panic attack, but she'd have loved it, not that it mattered, she was gone and he was alone.

He ran a hand through his brown hair and let out a tired sigh, "What the fuck am I doing here?" he muttered under his breath.

Truly, what was he doing here? Not just in this place full of strangers, but in this small town in the ass end of Oregon? It had seemed like such a good idea, he needed to get out more, meet people, but Denver had been a bit too crowded for him to feel comfortable to do it, so why not try a small town elsewhere? Everyone always said small towns were a hub of community and friendships, everyone knew everyone, or at least, that was what he heard, but what the fuck was up with his town? The realtor had fired at him like a machine gunner determined to make her sale, spoke of how the town was 'growing' with young people around his age, of how it was such a nice location, they even had some town chat, which seemed utterly ludicrous to Cal, and, even more, there was going to be some kind of full moon party which, also, just so happened to be some girl's birthday who, Cal was sure, was very kind and all that but, frankly, he could give less of an ass about the unknown person and her seemingly rich parents. As he drove through the town the day before, it seemed more and more strange, yea, the town was full of 'young people' but why the fuck were they all so good looking? Cal kept expecting to be stopped whenever he rounded a corner to be informed that it was closed because they were filming some shit YA movie.. And a town wide chat room? It had to be either filled with kids and teenagers shit posting or the elderly of the town bemoaning the loss of morality in their lovely little town, and honestly, Cal was far too afraid of either to click on the link the realtor had been sure to send him to check... Maybe it was some kind of crazy west coast cult? Full moon parities, worked hard to ensure everyone kept in contact and so 'under control'... Jesus, if they pulled out the bees, he was running as far as his sedimentary life riddled lungs could carry him because his Nicholas Cage impression was pretty horrid.

Despite the buzz of the air, a sharp, feminine, voice caught his attention, well, it was more that plus the words 'Go' and 'Away' that nabbed it. His blue eyes slid to the beach to his left where a young pink haired woman was clutch a shell, wait, no, a conch, because of course it would be, and was being starred down by a rather angry looking gull. He watched, utterly captivated and amused, as she tried to ward it off, and he felt zero desire to interfere in this spectacle, before fleeing before the seagull's feathered wroth, flailing her arms and, in doing so, losing the vaunted conch which shattered and scared the bird. Yes, if anything, this woman was proving the truth in that when the chips are down, running in circles while flailing your arms was the best way to handle any situation. Cal leaned against the rail and rest his chin in his hand as he watched the scene continue as two, of course, good looking people approached, the woman of the duo going back the other way but the man continuing and Cal couldn't help but let out a scoff under his breath, "Good fucking god, they totally are filming some YA movie. Based on the classic book, a group of young adults are trapped in a ghost town, watch as our heroine, pinkie, who is totally approachable but unique and quirky, I mean just look at her hair, meets the young, handsome and understanding male lead in a fiery romance as they struggle to maintain control without the power of the conch." he continued as he deepened his voice to complete the mental trailer his mind and constructed, "Take your tween daughters to theaters near you."

Well, the fun seemed to be over, Pinky had successfully fended off the gull, and with that, Cal's interest in her and the male romantic lead disappeared, but it was fun while it lasted. Cal pushed himself off the rail, time to find some food. Surely the rich people that were to throw their kid's creepy full moon totally-not-a-cult party had some good food prepared.

Solaris was not having fun. It was the full moon and people were on the beach. She reined in the urge to scream go home at people who were staring at her as she threw chips at seagulls. Solaris hated seagulls. They were evil birds who had no respect for the give and take that Sol prided herself upon. Ravens were better. If you give them chips, they'll bring you shiny things like bottle caps and string. Seagulls poop on your car.

Sol didn't like parties, but one Miss Rose Greenwood loved them. But what green witch doesn't love communing with nature and community at the same time? This witch, that's who. Sol would much rather be at home in her mom's little trailer, with Milaj and Rupert, and eating her mom's stew. Not out where people give her dirty looks for feeding the evil sea rats with wings.

She gave an older woman a dirty look right back.

Out of chips and out of cares, Sol was about to call the whole party thing quits and beg her mom to take her back home when she heard a scream and saw a pink haired girl throwing seashells of all things at a particularly aggressive seagull.

"Awe dang. That was a perfectly good conch," Sol muttered to herself, feet unknowingly taking her in the direction of the girl. That is before she caught herself and stomped angrily the other way, towards the food and people.

"Take your tween daughters to theatres near you," Sol sneered at the crazy man on the railing as she passed by him, whistling the cuckoo sound and clicking her tongue.

Artemis had always been planning on attending the party, even if he pretended he hadn’t. Truth be told, he didn’t want to go because he liked parties, nor because he wanted to celebrate some random girl. In truth, he only attended because his parents attended - something about keeping their spotless reputation or whatever - and although he would have preferred to refuse to go, he did always like the beach. Besides, his parents would hopefully be too preoccupied to keep track of his whereabouts anyway. It was one of the reasons he wore a skirt; if they were embarrassed by him, they would leave him alone and hope that he didn't let anyone believe that he was actually their child.

Upon their arrival, Artemis made a beeline for the water. His parents, too busy schmoozing it up with other politicians and probably the Mayor, made no effort to stop him, whether they noticed him walking away or not. As he walked past clumps and gatherings of townspeople, he pulled his phone out of his pocket and shoved his earphones into his ears. Well, only one, so they could still hear the sound of the ocean. They turned the sound up so the sounds of the part were blocked mostly out, and when they reached the water, they stopped. Art watched as the tide came in and out, and lined himself up against the line where the water met the sand. Placing one foot carefully in front of the other, he walked along the line, not minding when the tide moved in a little further than normal and got his boots wet.

As they walked, a scream startled them into placing one of their feet directly into the water. He looked up and shook the water off of his boot, spotting the origin of the sound. He watched as a seagull flew away from the girl whom it had evidently scared, a long way ahead of him, and, realising that there was no imminent danger, looked back down at his feet and continued his mock-balancing act. Once he reached the girls toward the other end of the beach, he’d probably turn around - especially now that they were being joined by another guy, as well. He had no desire to interact with them, or anyone really, for the rest of the night. But he wasn't going to think about that. For now, there was only the ocean and the music.

Sarah layed back in her white and tan Ford Explorer. She drew the short straw, guarding the mayor. Or maybe it was because she was new. She couldn't tell, but she sat there, looking out the window with he x20 binoculars, playing a game she made up, the objective of which was to evaluate all high points in an area, and decide which historical army would defend it the best. She glanced at her watch. Her shift would last forever it seemed. She turned to the party, the girl it was for fell as a seagull swooped in. Alexis suppressed a laugh. Then her radio chirped, "Dispatch to 1 Donovan 15." Alexis quickly responded, hoping something cooler was happening, "Dispatch, send traffic."
"Copy, any updates?"
"Negative, all clear"
"Good Copy"
Alexis was disappointed, no 10-32's were needed, nothing. She looked around now from her car and thought to herself, All clear on the Western Front. The then realized how poorly that movie ended, and hoped a similar scenario did not occur here.

Red Velvet

"Rebirth"

Piyeone's racing heart continued pounding in her chest for a bit as she watched the winged creature finally leave. She didn't know why she was scared of birds, but she didn't care either. Birds scared her and that's all there was to it. Still she hated the idea of being mocked for her fear, which she felt was completely justified with no room for debate. Of course, her reaction to the thing that had ferociously attempted to kill her garnered some attention.

Piyeone released a deep sigh and pressed her lips into a thin line. Partially annoyed and disappointed in not just herself but just being unlucky to find herself in this position in the first place. If anything happened on her birthday it would be being attacked by a bird and making a fool of herself in front of the whole town, or at least a good number of people. The over exaggeration was a problem she had been trying to curve, often letting small things blow out of proportion and suffering the result. Still, even the idea of just one person scoffing behind her back was one that didn't go away very easily.

The girl's focus on her inner thoughts was ended when a boy came up to her asking if she was alright. Piyeone wanted to roll her eyes and blow him off with some witty remark, which she would have done had it not been for the genuine look of concern on his face. Masking her insecurities with insult wasn't going to do anyone good. She wasn't like Moon who didn't need to mask anything, the woman was a transparent as she was bold. Something Piyeone admired a lot, her ex was a true spectacle, and also probably off having some adventure somewhere without her. To be completely honest she really wanted to just be snuggled up with Moon in her small lifeguard shack, ignoring the world outside the walls boundaries; instead she was standing on the beach side with the dumbest expression on her face, staring at some guy who was probably worried she had a brain aneurysm at this point.

"I-I'm fine. I just don't like birds. Though it's kind of my fault for not realizing there'd be seagulls on a beach.." She said a bit sheepishly, instinctively grabbing her left arm with her right hand. Normally this is the part where she'd blush and look away. She blushed surely, but continued staring at him with an expression which didn't match the rest of her mannerisms. She was embarrassed sure, but she wouldn't dare let herself be vulnerable in any way. She had no reason to and wanted to keep it that way. She wasn't the kind of person who got flustered so easily, and even if she was, it had nothing to do with the boy in front of her. Though she did appreciate the concern at least, it's not everyday complete strangers were so kind, or at least didn't have any ulterior motive. Something Piyeone herself was more than guilty of.

"Though I'm almost more mad that I had to give up such a pretty shell.." She added as she moved her gaze to the pink shards of Calcite scattered across the wet sand. Though before she could morn the loss of her find Piyeone was interrupted by the cold sensation of water washing over her bare feet, causing her to gasp and utter another, albeit quieter, squeak of surprise. She tried to step out of the waters flow but it had moved far past stepping-out-of distance, at least until the drift began to rapidly recede back into the sea, the force of it nearly knocking her off of her now unsure footing, which only caused the girl to stumble once more. Nearly falling over this time as the waterlogged sand had begun to suck her toes down into the chilling depths of the beach. Piyeone was clearly not used to the seaside environment, having only had minor exposure to beaches on her few vacations to Candle Cape which usually just ment spending time with her aunts and sister. As well as spending time with her ex when the two weren't parting in a desert or forest somewhere, and Moon was actually doing her job of being a lifeguard- Well kind of, they mostly just fucked in their own little love shack. So in all, experience with beaches was pretty limited.

Piyeone's hand reached out, grabbing the boy's shoulder in an effort to keep from falling until she found herself stable enough to step away from the cold wet sandpit at the edge of the water. "Sorry about that." She sighed, glancing around, possibly to check for any more sneaking environmental hazards. "I'm Piyeone, but uh, most people just call me Penny." She said, committing to introducing herself despite how awkward it was.

Aunt Chinmi chuckled as she glanced over the beachside from their table before turning her attention back to Rin who was now clinging onto her arm and obviously beginning to wind down, most likely with a little bit of assistance from Soju. Rin always was rather lightweight, though it usually just put her to sleep, something Chinmi found rather cute. "She really does take after you," Chinmi said softly to her wife who smiled up at her before turning herself to look back at Piyeone for a moment. "I haven't had as much interaction with her as I'd like, but she still turned out well, so I'll take that as a compliment." Rin replied with a long deep breath out before shifting to get more comfortable. Chinmi rolled her eyes, amused, and simply lifted the other woman into a better position. "We're the closest thing she has to parents, and that's being generous. Getting her out of Blackwood was probably the best thing we could have done." She said eventually, taking a sip from a can of sprite as despite being able to drink anyone under the table, Chinmi has always elected to be the most responsible person in a room at any time. Rin was a woman who didn't need anyone's help and was powerfully independant, but it was exhausting at times. Relying on Chinmi wasn't necessary but it was better than not. Chinmi was well aware of this and took pride in being able to provide for her wife, and the family she married into. While also taking comfort knowing Rin could pull her own weight and be a reliable partner. "She's going to be a great woman someday, just like her Mother." Rin's face was blushing from more than just the alcohol at this point, and she gave Chinmi a soft kiss on the woman's cheek before settling her head back onto her wife's shoulder, knowing that 'Mother' was referring to herself. As Chinmi refused to address Piyeone's biological parents as such, even Rin herself struggled to understand her sister and the role they played in their daughters lives.

Cal could only wonder at what kind of food this party had, hopefully the whole 'eerily similar to a slice of Americana' thing this town had held true as some hotdogs or hamburgers sounded very good. He could only hope he wasn't about to be shoveled some horrid 'alternative' foods or, worse, that this was some weird way that the rich folk of this town used to flex on their neighbors and provided vastly overpriced horderves that couldn't feed a peckish toddler much less an actual grown adult. Maybe there would be seafood or some kind of fish? By the ocean, seemed like a reasonable thing to do, Cal wasn't very experienced in seafood as he had been raised in landlocked state with the nearest ocean being a couple thousand miles away which made seafood rather expensive and not super common. He wouldn't be opposed to being a bit explorative in cuisine if it was being provided and he didn't have to pay for it. Odds were it was better then the microwaved crap he would have had ordinarily.

A sharp sound brought his attention back behind him, over the railing, but not to pinky and the probably-not-so-brainy, but to another, new figure. Young, crazily attractive, as if this town seemed to have any other kind of young person, and she was looking straight at him as she clicked her tongue and made the universal cuckoo sound which, Cal had to agree, pinkie did seem a bit crazy but who was he to argue the logic in challenging a random seagull to mortal kombat with a seashell? Maybe that seagull had murdered her father and this was some sort of ultimate vengeance or something equally stupid? But, wait, no, that wasn't it. As his blue eyes searched her the depths of her dark, seemingly endless, eyes he had a stark realization that she was calling him crazy and that sneer did not help matters at all. This teenager all dressed up as if to scream, 'Hey, look at me, don't come near me.. but actually, really do cause I need to validate my existence by denying anyone who approaches me to create this mysterious persona that is totally me,' was calling him crazy and was sneering at him as if he was some kind of unsightly creature she was passing on her way to the truck stop bathroom she no doubt spent most of her evenings. What a lil shit.

But it didn't matter. She was some punk teenager who probably wasn't even old enough to drink, who cared what she thought? He certainly didn't. Not at all. Not even when she passed right past him, just ghosted him as if she had 'enough' of him now that she had her laugh. Its fine, he had just done the same to pinkie and the boy, what did it matter? It didn't. Nope... But it did. It mattered a lot. It was annoying. It was aggravating and it shouldn't be, but fuck it, no, fuck this kid. A small part of Cal, the adult part, the one that had lived on this planet for twenty-seven years, knew this was dumb, knew he was overacting, but the rest of him, was stuck on the mantra of 'Fuck this kid' so he did the most mature thing he could possibly do and walked after her, his pace brisk as he bobbed and weaved his way through the crowd to close the distance. If Cal were a more rational, and mature, adult, he'd contemplate that power walking after a woman, as a man, who was probably half his size with a fire in his eyes probably wasn't the best way to go about... anything, really, but she wasn't some woman, she was a sneer lil shit teenage kid which really didn't make the situation any better, arguably made it worse, but to Cal it made perfect sense.

When he caught up, Cal slowly slid by her and turned to look down at her, "Hey, excuse me, Ms. Social outcast with a chip on her shoulder who spends her time poking fun at other people as she wishes she could be invited just so she can turn them down to pretend she is so mysterious and interesting, do you know where the food is, by any chance?"

The fact it was a bit of the pot calling something, what may not even be a kettle, black never crossed his mind, the situation never crossed his mind, where, exactly, they were at didn't cross his mind, how much of an overreaction this was didn't cross his mind, or if it did, it didn't seem to stick the landing because at the time, the mantra of 'Fuck this kid' was all Cal could really think of.

What. Even.

So crazy guy really was crazy. Who follows a nineteen year old girl to harass her after talking to themselves? A crazy person, that's who. And a social outcast? Chip on her shoulder? Sure those things might be true. Well, they were true. She was angry and she was friendless. But she didn't want to be invited to things just to say no! She didn't want to be invited at all. Right? Right. And she was interesting! She was the most interesting person in Candle Cape! Who was this crazy old man?

"Over there, old man. You might wanna update your bifocal prescription cause it's pretty obvious where the food is." She nearly growled out, furrowing her eyebrows and marring her pretty face with a snarl. She didn't even want to be here. But just to be petty, she brushed past the man and stood before him in line. She saw him eyeing the last burger and even though she didn't want it, what did she do? She took it. Must be that chip on her shoulder. It was the first time she smiled all day.
She went to go sit down at a table and crossed her legs, making a show of tearing the prices of burger apart, just to toss it to more seagulls. She could be a petty little shit when she wanted to. Her mom was scolding her in the back of her mind.
Harmony, Sunny. Harmony. Green witches do their best to maintain it.
Fuck harmony. Sol wanted a fight. The more she thought about it, the more worked up she was getting.
She doesn't poke fun at people. Sol doesn't even talk to anyone. Rude old man. She was definitely lost in her thoughts at this point. Angrily and pettily tearing up burger bun and lettuce.

"Crazy old man. I don't pretend to be mysterious. I am mysterious," she muttered.

Despite the bubblegum hair colour, she seemed friendly. Her displeasure evident on her face with lips in a tight line and a sigh to tie everything off. For a moment, Sebastian stared at her. Was she joking? Sure her earlier reaction told him she didn't like seagulls, but most people don't. In fact, aside from his nutty neighbour, he'd never met anyone else who actually liked the birds. When her arm crossed in front of her he realized that the girl wasn't joking. With her eyes locked on his, he noticed the light reddish hue across her cheeks. He did applaud her attempts at portraying confidence she clearly didn't have. At least, not after she survived the "bird attack."

Had to give up
. Seb was ready to lose it. He could feel the desire to laugh crawling up him, forcing him to clear his throat to cover any chuckles that might have escaped. He didn't want to offend, but how could he resist?

"Seagulls at beach. It is rather unusual. But I think your daring actions very well spared your life," Sebastian said with a smile as he motioned toward the shell pieces that brightened the dark sand. Soon the only pink that would be left to see would be the girl's hair.

Bubblegum girl's gaze drifted, resting on what remained of her weapon of choice. Another gasp came from her before she began tipping. The squelch of feet fighting sand sounded as her hand shot up and grabbed his shoulder. Sebastian tensed, nearly jumping back at her quick movements.

This time, Sebastian chuckled without shame or worry he'd upset gum girl. "Nice to meet you Penny, I'm Sebastian. Most call me Seb, but I'm not fussy when it comes to nicknames," he said. "What brings you out to the beach? I'm getting the feeling that this isn't exactly your kind of place." He stepped away from the water until he reached dry sand. Then it hit him, what other reason could there be? It was the only reason he was here and he loved the beach. "Oh. The party, right?" He shook his head before gazing beyond gum girl. The string of lights illuminated the beach as people began to crowd around tables of food. Candle Cape was small enough that most people knew each other, but parties did draw in newcomers. Seb returned his attention to Penny moments before his stomach rumbled, the sound akin to a sputtering car. Running his fingers through his hair, he chuckled. "How about we head on over to the free food. I hear near-death experiences can make people hungry." He raised his brow and grinned a little wider than normal.

Ally hopped into the drinks line, she supposed it made sense that they'd have to actually serve any of the ones with alcohol in them with all the teenagers running around, she chuckled softly to herself about how much of a mess that would be, the town council certainly wouldn't like it. She was surprised they even allowed alcohol in the first place though she certainly wasn't complaining. A smile and flash of her ID had her wandering away with a cold beer in hand, taking a small sip and leaning against a surprisingly sturdy post and watching the crowds mill about. The party was really winding up, the pleasant buzz of chatter filling the air and entwining with the crashing of small waves on the shoreline. Now that it was properly getting dark, the work put into the party was evident, and the warm glow of the overhead lights gave the whole thing a delightful ambiance. Nobody seemed to be paying all that much attention to her for the time being so she spent a few moments studying people, trying not to stare too much even as she tried to memorize the lines of their expressions and gestures, maybe she'd be able to mimic them later. Out of curiosity she glanced over towards the waves, it seemed the girl from before had calmed down without further seagulls harassing her. A couple other people seemed scattered along the outskirts of the party, wandering along the beach or sitting alone off to the side. She was doing the same for the moment so it wasn't like she could judge, so with a shrug to herself she turned her gaze back to the party at large.

As she did, a pair of people caught her eye. A girl stalking away from a guy who looked... just a bit too old to be following her with that expression and stepping in front of her. She furrowed her brow and took a sip of her drink, keeping an eye on them as the girl headed over to the food line with him in tow. They certainly didn't seem friendly, she had no idea who the guy was, but she looked familiar, even if Ally couldn't quite place it. As the young woman went to sit down at a table and feed the seagulls her burger, Alison stepped away from the pillar and wandered her direction somewhat aimlessly. The girl definitely looked upset so Alison nodded faintly to herself and her expression brightened as she stepped up to her table.

"Oh hey!" She greeted the girl, chipper as could be, wide customer service smile and everything. She still couldn't quite place why the girl looked familiar, but she acted like she knew her all the same. "I didn't know you'd be here! It's been a minute, how've you been?" She shifted slightly to mouth 'Are you okay?' in case the man she'd seen kept following her. "I love your outfit by the way, it's very you! Mind if I sit?"

"Mind if I sit?" Who the heck? Was everyone here crazy? Sol furrowed her eyebrows and frowned deep. Deeper than she was before that is.
"I don't know you," Sol whipped monotonly. The seagull she'd been feeding squwaked impatiently and Sol glared at him. "You're being rude Mr. Stevens. I'm obviously in the middle of a conversation."
She gave him the rest of the burger anyways and watched him scarf it down before shooing him on his way.
"And I'm fine. Why wouldn't I be fine?" Sol asked, ignorant of the way the older man stalking after an angry young girl could look to other people on the outside.
"Oh wait! You think-? No, he's just crazy," she realized how that sounded.
"Well, I mean, not crazy. Just rude? Or like-. I guess-. No. He wasn't bothering me." She tripped over her words. Why would this young woman be worried about her? They didn't even know each other. Sol's scowl returned, suspicious of this random girl. What did she want in return? Why was she being nice?
"I don't know you," she finally settled on.

Clementine Oakley
"He who fears he will suffer,
already suffers because he fears"

Clem had a long day at work and she just wanted to relax, mostly sleep. Her Aunt had other plans. She made sure that after Clem locked up the shop she would make new friends at the little beach party that was going on. Clementine didn't think it was a great idea..but on the bright side she could swim..thats the only reason she decided to go.

The sun was settling down in the sky as her Aunt,Uncle, and her arrived. "I'll just be in the water so if you need me I'll be there-" "Clem, at least try talking to someone tonight. Can you do that" Clem sighed, but didn't want her aunt to worry. "Alright alright" she said walking away from them and swerving around the people who were already there mingling.

Clem glanced over at the commotion someone was having about the seagulls. Clem let a few giggles out before placing her towel down at a safe dry distance from the water, putting her clothes on the towel while she was left with her black bathing suit. She undid her messy bun, letting her red poofy hair breathe as her feet stepped further and further into the cool water. She sighed happily and went underwater completely. She felt at peace in the water. Now, her body was floating in the water, her green eyes looking up at the sky as she hummed quietly to herself.

Hopefully me moving here was worth it and I don't regret...that'd be bad, ive only been here a week. I need to give it a chance that's all..

Still in her car, Alexis watched the party, and was slightly disappointed. She felt a pang of loneliness as she watched the young(and older) people joke around and interact socially. She then returned her focus to her lonely game, and decided that the French themed cafe was fit for the 101st Airborne, as it was surrounded by German shops. She smiled at her favorite comeback in history, "NUTS", and immediately regretted her decision, and craved trail mix as she looked at the burgers the party goers were enjoying. Looking around her front seat with a newfound hunger, she found a BLT in the glove box, and began to ponder who left it there, and how long it had been there. Using her police skills, she found a receipt on the floor, and found out that the BLT was only 7 hours old by the time stamp. She examined the BLT for age, found it to be suitable, and took a big bite. She noted the use of garlic mayo, and took another bite. A tomato wiggled its way out of the sandwich and onto her shirt, and she cursed as the mayo slightly stained her shirt. She wiped it off the best she could, but the stain remained after several wipes. She leaned back in annoyance, but took another bite of the BLT, this time taking care not to make a mess.
