Realistic or Modern [OSV] "Our Small Victory"

Attempt to use a Concentrated Shockwave on it.

Hopefully 'attempt' means he'll stop before he tears himself in half if it fails. I wanna see if he's grown enough to manage this compared to a year ago.

Am I...really about to do this..?!

Eryn backed up from the blast door and entered a finger-snapping position with his right hand, raising it. He accumulated as much kinetic energy as he could, causing vibrations from his hand across his entire forearm, and even some visible vibrations in the air around the fingers, like distortions that appeared when high temperatures were present. This was as far as he'd ever gotten with the move before giving up. It didn't hurt as much as last time, but he still had to wonder. How much vibration was a good amount of vibration? Was there even meant to be any vibration in his arm? Viper didn't have the same recoil aspect to his powers, so he wasn't able to tell Eryn.

He'd just have to do it anyway.

The Sentinel finished carving through the door and resumed its approach. When it saw Eryn however, it hesitated for a moment. Probably because Eryn was mimicking the pose Viper would use when setting up a concentrated shockwave. Viper usually would have fired by now, though. Eryn kept accumulating power until he felt the vibrations down to his bones. If he was going to go for a one-shot-kill, he needed as much explosive force as possible.

Now he had to focus on the Sentinel, which was approaching again. The blast had to be concentrated to a literal needle-point if he was going to do it properly. Even as he did this, and as the Sentinel saw through his own hesitation, Eryn still wasn't sure if he could pull it off. He was operating on pure theory, although he was pretty sure he was doing everything right so far. The only thing he knew for certain was that he probably wouldn't be torn in half.

You'll be okay.

The Sentinel leapt at him. Eryn extended his hand out and snapped his fingers. The Sentinel was blasted backwards. A sharp pain went through his arm as he was immediately deafened by the resulting shockwave, leaving him with an intense ringing in his ears that blocked everything else out. His vision went dark for a moment, and the pain in his foremarm continued to grow rapidly, like it had been set on fire from the inside. On top of that, his head felt like it'd split at any moment. He collapsed onto one knee, but couldn't find the strength in his arms to even hold his head. He breathing had gone ragged, and his right side in general felt sore.

As it stumbled back to it's feet, and Eryn looked up at it, he saw a hole in its chest. It didn't go all the way through, but it was spitting flames and sparks. Its movements were sloppy and slow as it tried to step toward him, and the large blade shapes on its arms fell apart into nanoparticles onto the floor, leaving it with only its base arms. He knew he'd struck something important. But it was still alive. He had to finish it. But he couldn't even raise his arm now, let alone launch another attack.

His vision went dark for another moment. When it came back, Sydney was standing in front of him, towards the Sentinel. He hadn't heard her arriving. The Sentinel swang its arm slowly and pathetically at her, which she stepped out of the way of. A pang of guilt struck him as he realised he'd stolen this important kill from her. She was able to finish it off just by stabbing the red-spiral sword into the hole he'd made, and igniting it inside the Sentinel. It practically fell apart on its own after that, flames bursting from every gap in its external armour. Eryn looked down at his arm and saw that it was being stained by blood from the inside. It felt worse than when he'd been slashed by the werewolf.

Various breakages in the wrist and forearm alongside multiple lacerations on the surface. Torn muscles in general in the right arm and leg, and a bruised shoulder. You've also somehow suffered an impact to the head. Your concentrated shockwave wasn't as concentrated as it should have been.

Sydney knelt down in front of him, examining the arm.
"I'm sorry.." was all he could weakly get out without screaming in pain. His hearing was returning now, letting him hear the police sirens coming from outside. Sydney looked at him for a few moments. Her mask made it look like a cold glare. It was only when she raised it slightly that he saw he she was smiling.

"Thank you, Eryn...I'm..glad you're safe." She rolled up his sleeve and wrapped a cloth around his arm. Then after retrieving their stuff, she helped him up and let him lean on her as they made their way outside, invisible. She pulled her mask back down fully, sniffling a bit.

He knew just one Sentinel wasn't going to be all Seraph sent at them today. Even if nothing else targeted him, Robin and Sydney, there was still a good chance that Okami and Victoria would also be attacked elsewhere. Students were being sent home right now. They met up discretely with Robin, who it turns out wasn't able to smuggle the auto-medkit into school.

And now?

Call Okami and Victoria to check on them.
Head home and treat yourself there.

Call dad to help out.
Head to the hero workshop to try and find support there.

Location: Streets, Time: 13:20

Eryn was about to call up Okami's phone when he noticed two battle alert notifications. One for Ecto and Aegis against the Sentinel at the school, and another for Jack-O-Lite and Kumori against another Sentinel downtown. He then of course continued with making the call, putting it on speaker.
"H-"
"HIIIIIIII~"
"Oi, give back the phone! Sorry about that. You might have guessed already if you've read the battle alerts. We dispatched the Sentinel, but Kumori got pretty messed up. She'll be alright in a few minutes since she's...y'know, Kumori. The sunlight is making her recovery take a while though, and her parasol got sliced up, so we're heading into a store."
"Parasol-slicing bastard..."
"How're things on your end?"
"We're, uh...good?"
"No we're not."
"No we're not."
"...Ah. Well anyway, isn't it weird for these things to be attacking out in the open? Doesn't line up with what the Predators were up to."
Eryn let out an exasperated sigh.
"Yeah, we probably pissed them off real good after last night...they've amped up the security keeping the Cerberus locations out of public view, so now dad has to decrpyt the data he got from his investigation to potentially get more clues."
"Hey, shouldn't the professor at the workshop know something about the Cerberus facilities? What WAS Cerberus anyway? I don't think a weapons tech company would be important enough to be refurbished into an evil villain hideout."
"Hold up, I can see two Sentinels on the rooftop across from us. It's, uh...staring into the store, right at us. Not moving though."
"We're coming over. Downtown's not far from here."
"Alright, we'll keep this spot secured and text you the address."

You can't fight like this.
Shut it.

Eryn's arm still felt like it was burning, but there wasn't much he could do for it right now. At least he could move around on his own now, though. Odd, he wasn't so pain-resilient a few days ago.
Robin put on his ski mask so that Eryn didn't have to keep up the invisibility. All three of their identities could be attributed to being students of their school now, but it should have been fine as long as nobody could identify WHICH students. It was one of the few times Eryn felt lucky that their private school made them wear uniforms.

As they ran through the streets towards their teammates, Eryn noticed Sentinels standing across various rooftops along their path, following the trio with their gaze. Some jumped down and slowly walked after them. They wouldn't catch up for a while longer, but eventually would at this rate.

Fight or Flight??

Engage the Sentinels together.
Turn the three of you invisible and flee.

Taunt them for being Terminator rip-offs.
Telekinetically float your weapons next to you and keep firing at them as you continue on your way.
