• It is the year 2021. And it couldn’t be worse than 2020. On May 21st, aliens have made their appearance on Earth, declaring their supremacy over humanity. These strange bipedal creatures have technology better than the humans could’ve ever fathomed. But alas, humanity refuses to be subject to such easy defeat. The stubbornness of humanity has allowed them to persevere, by challenging the aliens to a galactic battle.
  
  The aliens and humans agree to give each other ten years of preparation. For the aliens, ten years was a bit too much time, but they didn’t care much, since the humans’ technology growth was projected to be unable to surpass the technology of the aliens anyways. On Earth, people began to invest heavily in the technology sector, some people pouring all of their savings into the technology sector, in hopes of humanity to be saved. Others believe that the fight is futile and begin to stock up. As a result, everything is short in supply; it was like the coronavirus pandemic all over again. The government attempts to regulate everything, but fails. America has a giant food shortage, China has an arms shortage, etc. Realizing that they didn’t have anything under control, the governments of every nation met in an important landmark meeting.
  
  In this meeting, known as the Great Assembly, the world leaders met in a contentious meeting and determined that there would be a worldwide draft of all civilians, ages 18-23. They would be trained to fight against these aliens and defend humanity. A chosen group of humans, one family from each country, would be launched into outer space as well, to preserve the human race just in case they lost.
  
  Naturally, the world was angered by the Great Assembly, arguing that it did nothing to help the plight of the people. With peoples ages 18-23 making up a majority of the workforce, supply shortages would increase even more! As a result, the world leaders met in another meeting and amended the legislation crafted by the Great Assembly.
  
  Instead of drafting people ages 18-23, they would draft teenagers. Anyone ages 13-17 was subject to the draft. The world was angered, but the governments used sheer force this time, to shut down their protests. Suddenly, the legislation that legalized the draft disappeared and the draft was never mentioned again. Life went back to normal. Or did it?
  
  Except, the United States was planning something. 5 years have passed after the negotiations between the aliens and humans. The military has been planning a secret program during their silence: Operation X

  Operation X

  File is classified. Disclosing this information to any personnel outside of those enclosed in the program will endanger the lives of millions. US staff only. Failure to abide by the guidelines of Operation X will result in termination.
  Operation X is a five-year long program designed to create the soldiers of the future. Recruiting* citizens ages 13-17 to join our ranks, the US’s finest will train these citizens to become soldiers of the future. Recruits are chosen for their high intellect, physical abilities and other reasons that are classified. Recruits may come from other countries, but precautions have been taken to assure that non-Americans remain unaware about our program. When the time comes, these recruits will be the ones who will save humanity from the threat of the extraterrestrials. Recruits may be subject to (perhaps fatal) experimental treatments to enhance their abilities.
  
  *Due to the resistance to the former draft suggested, all citizens selected have already been verified into the program. Selected candidates‘ DNA has already been extracted from them to create clones, which will take their place as a civilian. Clones may perish due to the instability of our cloning capabilities.

  Welcome to the RP! I have a few set rules, just to make sure everything goes smoothly. I want to promote creativity, decrease chaos, increase organization and promote friendship within RPers, so please bear with me.
  
  1.) Posts should adhere to semi-lit length. This means a few paragraphs (or one big paragraph if that makes you happy) and good grammar (for readability).
  
  2.) Everyone must play two characters, one 'recruit' and one military personnel member. Please try to create separate posts (like use the tab function/use different colors/have different sections) so we can differentiate your characters.
  
  3.) Please don't make your character OP. All characters in this RP are going to be smart, strong, etc. Keep in mind that they will have flaws.
  
  4.) Characters can be claimed, but I want to give everyone a fair chance. This means that this is first come, first serve, but I can create 2 different RPs if there's enough interest. CS thread here: Futuristic - Operation X CS Thread

  There are a few character roles. This RP is intended for 4 RPers (including myself). Romance is permitted.
  
  
  Recruit Roles​
  
  The Alpha (open) : The Alpha has clearly emerged as the best. They're the strongest, the smartest (well, the Rebel is the smartest, but has yet to display said intelligence), etc. They're seen as the unchallenged leader by their peers and the most successful by military personnel. Probably aged 16-18; probably male.
  
  The Rebel (open): The Rebel doesn't want to be here. That's a fact. They've made it well-known to everyone. They believe that there is some way out of this wretched place and seek to expose every loophole to make the staff's lives miserable. They're constantly challenging the Alpha, just for their own amusement. Subject to frequent punishment, due to antics. Probably aged 15-18; can be any gender.
  
  The Nobody (open): They're kind of a background character. They're average. They're just there. But they know everything. This character is perhaps the most flexible one in terms of creation; they could be a spy from another country, just a normal recruit, or an alien. Its all up to you!
  
  The Pipsqueak (taken by Gish_Sky ): The Pipsqueak is the youngest kid there. He's small and innocent, the constant target of harassment. He's trying to be optimistic but secretly misses home. He's also the type of kid to follow all of the rules. Literally. He memorized the entire handbook. Will be taken under the Alpha's wing. Aged 13, male.
  
  
  The Staff​
  
  The Head of Program (open): They're the mastermind behind this operation. Perhaps one of the smartest people in the world. They're the one who chose every individual. They're also the one who will perform scientific experiments on the recruits. But do they really want to save humanity? Not really. They're in for the fun.
  
  The Veteran (taken by Gish_Sky ) : They've seen them, they know it. They've fought the aliens. They're tired. They don't want anything to do with this. But they're forced to.
  
  The Good Cop (open) : Secretly designated as a therapist of some sort, they play the role of the nice teacher. They're the mom of the recruits and admired by all. But the reason why they're here is to make sure the recruits are instilled with whatever the Head of Program wants.
  
  The Bad Cop (open) : If the Good Cop can't convince everyone that being a recruit is the greatest thing in the world, the Bad Cop will step in. They're scary and they know it. They're the one who uses corporal punishment. They're also the one who increases tensions (if there is any) among the recruits. They enjoy making the kids suffer, cause why not?
