  • This was only the second gathering that Sorrellark has been invited to. Last time, she had been a bright-eyed apprentice, looking to impress her entire clan with how well-behaved she would be. None of the other cats seemed concerned about that now.
She had sat herself smack-dab in the middle of a cluster of WindClan cats, a move that she now wished she had been given the foresight to avoid. Between her own worries, and the clamor of the cats all around her, it was difficult for her to even think straight. Her tail twitched back and forth, agitated, no matter how much she hoped to hide it. She told herself that it was only natural; that of course, she would feel so unnerved, when the heavens were quite literally falling to pieces. StarClan, no StarClan, she'd never been entirely sure. It had never mattered, until now.
Somewhere in the crowd, one of the cats yelled something. It was enough to startle the young warrior back out of her thoughts, and other cats around seemed to feel similarly, as they quietened down. The leaders seemed to notice the lull in conversation, and they took advantage of it. Sorrellark turned her eyes up at the five leaders above them. It seemed that the medicine cats had something to say.
    Gifts from StarClan.
    A prophecy.
    Her blood ran cold.
She couldn't put a date on when the flashes had started. It was simply one of those 'it's-always-been-that-way' things, disregarded by her parents as the whimsical tales of a kit with too much free time. It only made sense that nobody would believe a story like hers, that she could press her head against a boulder and 'feel' the cold waves that had once splashed up against it, without really knowing that they were waves. It sounded like a story that elders would tell. In some strange way, she had come to believe that, herself. That it was just her imagination running wild. She wasn't really receiving any memories; she was just thinking too much.
And yet, now, it felt like those assumptions had been uprooted. What if she wasn't just too deep inside of her own head? What if there really was something to this?
She didn't notice until now, but she had curled her tail around her paws, wide green eyes fixated on those who had given the prophecy. The cats around her were growing fearful again. Her ears pinned back, as she looked back and forth between the cats around her.
Somewhere from ShadowClan's area, a voice rang out. A cat claiming that they had a gift, too, just barely audible through the chorus of other cats. Sorrellark's ears perked up, twisting towards the source of the noise. She couldn't see the cat through the sea of fur, but she knew what she'd heard. One of them was brave enough to speak up. She was quiet at first, thoughts racing. If one spoke, then it was only fair for her to do the same.
"I..." Her voice wavered. She held the tone of a cat with no idea if what she was doing was right. She forced herself to sit up a little straighter.
"Me, I- I have a gift too!" She failed to clarify exactly what her gift was, as if turning on her own decision halfway through.
Trying to ignore the sensation of her parents' frightened gazes, she kept her eyes on the tree.

Moonfeather stood up, despite her doubts. She aimlessly searched for the two voices that where brave enough to speak up. She wanted to know who they were, where they were, and why.

That was until her sister, spoke for her.

"The warrior from Thunderclan, known as Moonfeather, has a gift as well." Her clan-mates turned to her, shocked, scared, and angry.

All moonfeather could do was try to shrink down. But as she did so, more and more starry pelts rushed around her. To the point she had scrambled backwards, trying to get away from them all.

Her head was turning to try and see where they where. But each time she spotted one, she had to search for a different starclan cat, as every time she laid her eyes on one, they'd disappear. It was a game they had always played.

In the midst of her search, she found herself getting dizzy with the voices of the past cats.

Nightshade saw what was happening, and rushed to her sister's side. Not even the sisters mother, nor father, rushed to help. Nightshade seemed to wrap her smaller body around the she cat, that was panicking. She licked her sister's head, in an attempt to calm the larger cat.

Moonfeather was scared, she closed her eyes and shook her head.

"I don't want this gift.. I'm scared.." She mumbled.

Murkpelt
-ShadowClan-

Murkpelt.jpg As things around the black she-cat began to only get worse from there. But-- there were others like her. With... gifts, alike to her own. Murkpelt wasn't the cat to ever speak of things that she thought. She sighs as she spots a cat from her own clan who also had a gift. She perked her ears as not only them but many more. Oh my, she thought with a flick of her tail. Her conscience began to ring in her head as she remained quiet. Speak, say something, her consciousness rang in her head menacingly. She flattened her ears as she then stood to her paws. "I too have a gift," her accent spoke roughly. She then looked around her at the cats than at the leaders. She wanted to speak more, but that wasn't her job. "But why were we given these gifts, huh? Is there an explanation for all of this? Is this what StarClan wants, huh? They have given us these gifts for a reason. Have they?"

(Sorry about the late response I was at school!)

Duskshine looked at the She-cat from his clan. His eyes where then fixed on another she cat. The Shadowclan leader spoke up. Addressing all the cats he could.

"Please, if you have any type of gift, and you know it's a gift, step forward, you all could be the answer to helping our clans!" It wasn't like a Shadowclan leader to pleas for help.

Duskshine did what was recommended. He took the first step forward, showing any others, that they could do it to.

He stepped up, walking up to the tree where each leader sat. He then turned, and bravely adressed the concerned cats.

"Whatever is going on, and who ever else has gifts, I wanna help. I wanna make the clans right again. I'm tired of the constant blaming of Starclan's fall on everyone." He spoke up.

Even though he knew it wasn't his place to do so, he did anyways.

Looking about the clan cats confused as to why shadow clan needed the cats with these special gifts. She was not going to speak up unless she had more information, it was not that she had any thing against the shadow clan cats it was the fact that thangs could get sticky fast and she did not want to be in that kind of situation.

β€œwhy do you need clan cats with these special gifts” she said as she watched some of the other cats move to the shadow clan leader as she turned to her own clan leader in hope of some information before she jumped in to something. This is not one of her pranks that she knew she could get way with it with only a scolding.

Otterpaw turned to look at her sister who stared intently at the meeting and the cat who had stepped forward to show them it was alright to share their gifts with the rest of the clans. Her ears twitched in the direction of the windclan cat who had asked why they needed the cats with gifts. Then the Riverclan medicine cat spoke up. "All five clans have received a prophecy of these ten who are gifted by starclan. They have the power in their paws to help save the clans and..even starclan themselves." Once the medicine cat had stopped speaking, there were murmurs from all the clans and some scared yowls that got louder and louder.

"Why would we need to save starclan?" A cat from Skyclan spoke.

"Does this mean the clans are in danger?" Another cat spoke, though she couldn't depict which clan because of the overwhelming voices.

"They've abandoned us!" A cat spoke, this time one she recognized as a cat who had spoke earlier. Hazestep from Thunderclan. Though, he had not exclaimed in fear, but anger, "They've sent us these gifted freaks so they don't have to work themselves. They want to be rid of the responsibility of us. They don't give two fox tails about the clans!"

Lilypaw had looked scared at her sister, hoping she hadn't taken offense to what the bristling tom from Thunderclan had said. But, she did take offense, and she channeled that into a form of courage. She took one step, then two and then finally made her way to the front, weaving through cats from her clan. The cats were still meowing in fear while the leaders tried to calm things down. "I have a gift." She spoke a little softly and it only got the attention of a few cats. She then raised her voice and meowed almost the same sentence, "I think I might have a gift!" The noise calmed down as the cats began to turn their eyes on her and she forced herself to stay in place, her fur beginning to stand on end a little as the five clans looked at her and then shadowclan cat next to her.

Meanwhile, Mistpaw was thinking bitter thoughts about the role Starclan had decided for him. They didn't have any right to do that, it should've been his choice. He didn't want any of this and he wasn't about to participate in it. Starclan could go find another cat to give his powers. He would be content with that.

The spirit of Featherpaw had seemed shocked by her father's declamation of how starclan had abandoned them. That was not true. They were trying to help by gifting the ten with powers. It hadn't been her decision to do so, she had only died recently, but she knew that the decision made by the other starry cats was meant to help the clans. She desperately looked back to Mistpaw, trying to urge him to go up, but not matter what she said, it wouldn't reach him. Her head bent down in defeat. He needed to go up, he was one of the ten, but he seemed like he would never move his paws or speak up about his gift of visions.

Hawkpaw | Sky | Tom | Apprentice | Umbrakinesis

Others would begin to speak up again, including the leader of Shadow Clan who asked that any cats with gifts come forward and speak up should they also be the same but Hawkpaw wasn't sure of doing so. Slowly cats did speak up and and two cats would end up walking towards the tree where the leaders, deputies and medicine cats of the five clans were seated in their respective usual places, according to his mentor. Hawkpaw wasn't sure what to think about Star Clan. He wasn't even positive they were real nor did the kit hold any true belief in them. To him they were naught but stories told to kits from the elders and so he remained silent, remained still at the side of his mentor who didn't speak up for Hawkpaw either. But he did look at the tom that was his mentor, the cat scowling at the information that was being spouted off by the Shadowclan leader. "Beetle brains," muttered the cat to himself. "Star Clan turned their backs on us long ago."

Hawkpaw didn't comment on what his mentor said as he remained seated by the bigger cat. He had no idea what was going and was confused and tired by the conversations going on around him and so figured it was best to keep his mouth shut. He still wasn't sure if this were a curse or a blessing. While it was cool, he didn't know what he had done to get this and thus said nothing about having a 'gift'. He was an apprentice...this...whatever this 'star clan' had in store...was for warriors. He'd never get to be an apprentice if he went off into the wilderness! No, he was staying right here. Starclan, if they even existed and he wasn't sure, could solve their own issues.

Spiderpaw | River | Tom | Apprentice | Flora Manipulation

Voices peppered up around Spiderpaw, the cat having to turn his head to hear those on his right side. Something about cats having gifts and being chosen by Star Clan. He couldn't see these dead cats nor could he hear them but there seemed to be frightened eyes about him as some cats spoke up about having fits of their own. Were they gifts? What purpose did they really serve at all? Spiderpaw was unable to answer even if he could, not with his mother watching over him. He knew it wasn't out of his own safety, it was more out of embarrassing his family. It was what his parents, at least, constantly said to him. That he had to work extra hard at being a warrior due to his disabilities. His eyes widened as he saw Lilypaw head on up to the Shadowclan leader who asked that all cats with 'gifts' come up to the tree and announce themselves. He kneaded the ground with his paws as he remained prone upon the cold snow-covered ground beneath him, the wetness sinking into his belly. Another cat, he wasn't sure who or what clan, would walk on up to the tree as well and there were others who voiced they had gifts, resulting in some stares from other cats of their respective clans. Spiderpaw remained motionless but for his kneading and breathing, his good ear twitching to hear.

  • It felt so sudden, how quickly cats were leaping to announce that they, too, had gifts. Despite herself, Sorrellark smiled gently. She wasn't alone. She never had been. Even in her deep loyalty to her clan, it seemed that there had been some part of her that felt separated, holding the knowledge that she was unlike the others. A rush of bravery ran through her, the same kind she'd felt on the day that she had received her warrior name. If this saved her clan, then she didn't care about what the other cats thought.
She flicked an ear as her clan mate spoke, and she glanced to the other she-cat. Silverwind, she recalled the other being named. It was a fair question. For so long, they had gotten along just fine alone. But this was nothing like anything that had happened before, to her knowledge.
"This is a lot bigger than us, Silverwind," she tried to explain, though beyond that, she had little answer. Even as it was, it was a poor response. "If- If StarClan is real, then aren't we much better off with their help?"
And yet, she found herself unable to join the cats who now stood in front of the crowd.
As quickly as the courage had spurred inside of her, it began to quell. While the idea of other cats like her existing was comforting, equally terrifying was the thought that she wasn't like her clan mates. That the cats she'd been around her entire life regarded her as cursed, or as a way for StarClan to pawn off their difficulties. Standing with the ones at the tree would be a signal to her clan mates that she stood with the gifted cats, and not with them. It wasn't a choice that she wanted to make.
But then, with the looks she was getting, it felt like the choice might have already been made for her.

With the courage that each cat was showing, Moonfeather found hers. She hesitated, but silently stood up, and walked forward. She had to be of some use. As she walked past the cats, she stopped, for just a second, looking down at the apprentice named Mistpaw.

"You have a guardian. Someone you care very much about." She whispered to him, before walking to stand with the other cats.

She was a bit larger then some of them, but her gentle nature showed it's way.

"I can see, and speak with the cats of starclan." She spoke up.

"They are with us. They need us. Your past loved ones, walk amongst you, still, maybe not in a physical form. But they are here, with us, tonight. They need help. If Starclan falls, the dark forest will come back. And those cats are ruthless, and murders. We can't let that happen." She seemed scared, but she gently stood her ground.

"Please don't let the dark forest come back..." She said.

Moonfeather stood, watching, waiting for the rest of the others that where like her, to at least speak up. Her breath hitched in her throat as she waited.

Her gaze searched the crowd of cats, hoping to see the others stand up with her. At the moment, there where only a few standing their ground.

Moonfeather sighed, and her head dropped low.

"I don't want to see any more kits die, if there is some way, even the tiniest way, we can help each other out, please, let us try! This leaf-bare is harsher then the others we've had. More cats are getting sick, more rogues are showing up. We need to help each other. The five clans cannot fall." She pleaded.

She hoped that her small statement would get through to the cats.

"And they do still care. We aren't freaks. We were given these gifts for a reason. A reason that we may not know yet, but maybe if those who have gifts work together, we can figure things out. And make things right!" She ended.

Murkpelt
-ShadowClan-

As things began to unfold within the clans, there was no doubt in her mind that there'd be much more ahead. One of the cats from her own clan had even stepped forward when those with gifts present themselves amongst everyone. Murkpelt did believe in StarClan, as she had an encounter with them in a dream. It was with her sister, who had passed away. The dream was long and deep in her mind. It had a been embedded in the back of her mind ever since then.

And before she knew it, her paws were taking her towards the group after a larger female had approached the group. Murkpelt wasn't a very large cat, but she was muscular and slick. She wasn't necessarily born in these woods, but she grew up here. She stood tall nearby them and her ears flicked in the direction of the she-cat, listening.

"She's right. We can't afford to lose any more cats or youth due to this newly harsh leaf-bare we are going to endure. StarClan is still here," she spoke tentatively with her tail twitching at its tip.

Her blue orbs flew around at the other cats and clans with a hidden eagerness and desperateness in them, that was only seen by her. Her posture pretty much explanined that she was serious as her deep-toned accent had spoken, it was a little obvious that she was indeed not born alongside them. Which hurt her in the long-run in her Clan being different. But that never stopped her.

Duskshine was happy to see at least the few who had stepped forward. His head turned, scanning the crowd of cats for the last of those who had gifts.

"We just wanna help. That's all. Maybe, if we figure things out, the clans can go back to normal." He spoke up. He turned and looked at the deputies, medicine cats, and leaders of each clan.

"I'll do whatever it takes to make things right again." He promised them, his Amber eyes scanning them for any doubts they had.

When he found none, he turned back around to face all of the cats, trying to show his pride. He wasn't always a serious cat, but at that moment.

He had to be serious.

Upon learning this new information that was being said by some of the other clan cats made her pause and think it over, starclan never did any thing with out a reason. Most of the time only clan leaders, and medicine cats got the dreams or talked to them. Standing up she walked over to the other cats that had gifts.

β€œstar clan never does any thing with out a reason and how many times have they warned us against dangers before. Yes we lost some clan mates during those times but we have stayed faithful to them. So why would the gifts that they give to us to protect our clan shake your faith in them now?” she meowed as she took her seat with the rest of the gifted and looked out over her clan mates before looing around at the rest of the other clan cats before she decided to let them see her gift of illusion. The image that all would be seeing was one of wild flowers sprouting around them with butterflies flying around and landing randomly on the flowers for a bit then taking off once more. She let the illusion fade away after a few minutes.

Mistpaw had looked shocked when Moonfeather had come up to him, telling him that he had someone he cared about watching over him. He looked around for a minute as the cats that were standing at the tree began to make speeches about how Starclan hadn't abandoned them and how they wanted to fix things. His mind went immediately to Featherpaw and he desperately searched for her light gray pelt. Nothing. Not even one little whisker.

He heaved a sigh and looked up to see the flowers and butterflies. An amazing illusion that faded away a little afterwards. Shocked meows came from the crowd. The five clans had all seen the powers for themselves. They knew it was real now.

Otterpaw had stared at it from the front of the tree with the other prophecy cats who had come up. She was brave enough to come forward, but speaking up to all five clans was another matter. She let the older cats deal with that only letting a meow of amazement slip away when she had seen the illusion. It was amazing, those were the powers granted by Starclan. She felt embarrassed to be standing up here. A little nervous too. She was probably wrong about herself being gifted. Her 'powers' were nothing like that. She wasn't able to make amazing illusions. She was just able to swim like any other riverclan cat.

Hawkpaw | Sky | Tom | Apprentice | Umbrakinesis

There were already two cats at the tree, yet another went up after speaking to what seemed like an apprentice before making their way to the tree as well. Three...then another apprentice made their way up following the one that had spoken, saying they had a gift but not elaborating at what it was. Yet this apprentice appeared to remain where they were, whoever they were. Hawkpaw, being young, didn't know any other apprentices outside of his clan. It wasn't like apprentices were really allowed at gatherings, much less kittens, and he had only turned six moons this moon. A cat from Shadow Clan moved up at last as well, saying they should try to help if they could, making now and then one of the cats who was sitting near the tree spoke up, saying that if the Star Clan cats were there among them and that those with gifts weren't freaks, Hawkpaw's ears flattening as his mentor scoffed in response. The kit looked down at his paws as murmurs from his own clan broke out around him, some fear filled and others with anger. It didn't make him want to get up and announce that he also had a 'gift' either. The cat who had been sitting by the tree all this time, like they were important at all, seemed to...for a moment...begin shaking and mewling that they didn't want this 'gift' at all and the cat sitting next to them would attempt to sooth the shaking cat. Hawkpaw felt he could understand. While he didn't mind playing with shadows, what if that meant he was going to be a Dark Forest cat when he died? They seemed more plausible than Star Clan to him.

Eventually the cat calmed down and the river clan medicine cat spoke up, saying that there was a prophecy of ten cats receiving 'gifts' to help Star Clan. Why would a bunch of dead cats need the help of the living? It made no sense to Hawkpaw and it didn't seem to make sense to his mentor either. "Only a fish eater would believe such nonsense," the tom muttered. "It isn't our job to save Star Clan." As the cat that had been shaking and mewling pitifully like some kitten spoke up about not wanting dark forest cats to return, his mentor muttered something. "What makes you think they haven't returned already and really these 'cats with gifts' that you speak of?" This caused murmurs among his own clan as they conversed with each other. "Or that they aren't already here among us...if you say these Star Clan cats are here among us as well." When the cat spoke up about there being able to see and talk to Star Clan cats, his mentor broke into hysterical laughter.

"Mouse brains," he said. "Only the leaders and medicine cats can communicate with the dead cats of our ancestors," he said. "Everyone knows this. You speak blasphemy." There was a cat from Windclan that spoke up about potentially having a gift but they didn't make any move to go to the tree and then an apprentice from River Clan also spoke about a gift before making their way to the tree to join the cats sitting in front of it. Yet there seemed to still be hostility. Hawkpaw didn't see how they could work together at all...if they were capable of such a thing then surely the cats would have just been one clan right instead of five?

"Why...doesn't Thunder get all the prophecies?" Hawkpaw questioned his mentor who looked down at him and nodded. He had heard his mentor's comments before concerning cats with gifts and though his mentor knew of his gift for Hawkpaw had made the mistake of summoning shadows to play a prank on his mentor, the older tom cat didn't seem all that amused by his apprentice being able to control shadows at all. Eventually three more cats ended up heading to the cats sitting up near the tree, a tom cat looking around at the clans around him. There was a brief conversation between two cats in the same clan, Wind clan he thought, before first one and then the other. One of the wind clan cats would speak up, saying they had a gift and then showing off their gift which caused flowers to appear and butterflies which flew from flower to flower before the illusion vanished.

"Illusions won't help feed bellies," said an elder. "It's a useless gift," he yowled. β€œThis new leaf bare is harsh but nothing that hasn’t been weathered before and if it is harsh, it is because Star Clan wants it so. Why should we help them at all?”

There were murmurs of agreement at that and now it seemed there were a few hold outs, Hawkpaw being one of them as well as the apprentice that had been spoke to briefly by one of the cats that had gone up to the tree. But, from his position, he couldn't exactly see them and so instead searched for his mother and older siblings, hoping one of them could help tell him what to do.

Spiderpaw | River | Tom | Apprentice | Flora Manipulation

Spider's ears eventually fell back against his head as a cacophony of voices echoed around him and watched as cats slowly moved up to the tree where the leaders, deputies and medicine cats were seated, not understanding why there seemed to be a cat who wasn't one of those ranks seated there already and had been since the beginning of the gathering. Aside from him and Lilypaw, who else around their age had gifts? There seemed to possibly be one, a cat from Sky Clan who sat by a big tom who was making statements about how ridiculous it was that they trusted Star Clan while others voiced concerns on the cats with gifts not being able to help at all. He attempted to catch the other apprentice's eye but Hawkpaw was not looking in his direction. The river clan apprentice continued kneading his paws into the snowy ground beneath him, the cold continuing to soak into the fur on his belly.

Spiderpaw knew he couldn't move away from his mother or she'd bite him and then probably speak to his mentor about sleeping outside the apprentice den for two moons for embarrassing the family so he remained silent and didn't many any move to speak up, nor any move to go towards those other cats, who aside from Otterpaw, scared him. The entire situation with being able to control plants and earth scared him as did this talk of Star clan and Dark Forest. As others spoke up, asking why they needed to save Star Clan or help them, Spiderpaw couldn't help agreeing in some way, not understanding why it was needed. What could the living possibly do for the dead? And the stars had been fading too. He wasn't sure if others could see the stars fading or if it was just Spiderpaw who sometimes slept outside the apprentice den when he couldn't sleep, looking at the stars.

It didn't seem wise or safe to go on some journey into the unknown, let alone with other cats that were considered enemies. As soon as he had been forced to train as a warrior by his parents and the culture of the clans, he had been told by his mentor the warrior code though he'd heard it enough from his parents as a kitten. He winched as his mother smacked him with a paw at his incessant kneading of the ground and Spiderpaw flinched away from the molly but obediently stopped the action, his mother lowering her paw. As his father came over to him, the tom sat down on the ground and looked down at the kit. "Those cats are traitors to their family Spiderpaw and their clans by leaving when we need all the warriors needed to provide food and defend against not only rogues," he spat distastefully, "but also against other hunting patrols that may come to steal prey from our territory. You would do well to think about your loyalty to your clan, considering your leg will never allow you to keep up," he meowed, β€œor you being half deaf.”

These words were said in a low tone so only Spiderpaw and his mother could hear and the kit felt tears well up in his eyes as his father spoke to him, the disabled apprentice knowing his father spoke the truth. There was no way the apprentice could keep up with his leg given he could barely do so around camp and his being half deaf would surely lead to him being killed by a fox or eagle. Besides, didn’t the warrior code say a cat had to be loyal to their clan because they may face their friends in battle one day? Spiderpaw was better off here. The kit did everything he could to pretend he was normal and could hear like any other cat because deafness was only something that happened to elders along with losing their sight. What good was Spiderpaw, either in the clan or on some trip where the other cats might leave him behind or kill him if he couldn’t keep up or Star Clan should just take this curse from him and give it to a more worthy and whole cat. Obviously someone in the skies had made a cruel mistake.

  • Sorrellark found her eyes drawing back to the tree, as the ThunderClan cat spoke up. Even if she didn't know the she-cat's name, Sorrellark know that she was right. This leaf-bare had been the toughest that she'd ever seen. The kits and elders that had passed... Her ears drooped backwards.
She had to help them. Her duty was the serve her clan. She couldn't exactly serve a clan that didn't exist.
She lifted her head, about to stride towards the tree, only to falter as sprout began to emerge through the snow. She could only stare in awe, as the flowers bloomed open, butterflies fluttering down to land on the petals.
"Who's doing that?" she thought out loud.
As quickly as the illusion had begun, it faded again. The butterflies disappeared, along with the wildflowers. Still, it seemed that hesitance was stirring in the crowd. Sorrellark gave a quick look around.
"They're right, they're all right! Can't you all see that?" she called out.
No matter where her place was, with WindClan or with them, she had to go with the gifted cats. She would never be able to live with herself if she didn't, and it came back to bite them.
She pushed her way out of the crowd, glancing back at the cluster of surprised faces she had left behind. She held their gazes for a moment, as if silently assuring herself that this was the correct way forward, then turned to the tree again. She padded forth, joining the other cats who had gathered at the front.
"As warriors, apprentices, whatever rank you are, it is our task to protect our clan. As long as we have the clans, it's what we were born to do! No matter what anyone around us might think about it," she added, sitting down next to her clan mate.
In some way, she couldn't help but wonder if she was saying it to herself more than to the rest of the cats.

Moonfeather had noticed the one appreciate, one she didn't even know, he seemed to be ready to cry. She didn't know if he was paying attention, but her head bowed in sympathy. She then looked out, focusing quite hard.

"Then, if you do not believe me, I ask you this, why can I see your previous leader? One that was killed before I was even birthed? Dapplestar. Her name is Dapplestar. She lost her ninth life in a fight, as she says, she was protecting her clan from a rogue that had decided to invade your territory in Skyclan." Moonfeather spoke up, a retaliation to the Tom who called her a liar.

Everything she had just said, was being spoken to her, right as she was speaking, almost as if the starclan cat had guided her words. She then glared at the Tom who spoke of her being a liar.

The previous Skyclan leaders deathly details where only known by Skyclan, not any of the other clans.

"I now ask, should I show you more proof? Maybe tell you how your lost loved ones are sitting around, silent, and upset that you'd say that we are mouse brained. Some of them have refused to even look in your direction since you said that." Her voice was seething with a little anger.

She then raised her head high, looking towards the stars. "The longer we wait, the more they diminish, we where all brought up, with the similar thought, starclan would always protect us. Send us prophecies," She paused then looked down at all the cats.

"If you believe these are curses, well, I don't blame you, none of us asked for these gifts. But starclan choose to give some of their powers to us, as we speak now, their home in the stars crumbles around them, not because they want it too," She paused again, then glared at all of the cats.

"But because all of you have lost your faith in them! You all brought this down on yourselves, by forgetting them, leaving them to fade!" Her voice rang out.

Some cats looked down in shame, proving her point, others wouldn't even glance in her direction. She then lowered her head.

"If you all do not believe me, and still wish to let your clans fall to ruin, then be my guest. But I am going to do everything I can to ensure that the queens, the kits, the elders, and the sick, get help." She spoke finally.

She then layed down, staring at the cats in front of her. Waiting for their answer.

Murkpelt
-ShadowClan-

Murkpelt was standing her ground but then sat herself down with her tail neatly wrapped around her forepaws. Her gaze shifted to whoever spoke, her gaze showed what she was thinking at least. But-- out of completely nowhere-- an illusion came upon them. It left her in awe, her soft, ocean blue eyes looked around her at everything she saw. It then disappeared as soon as it appeared.

But many cats began to spit out their thoughts and listened to the she-cat who came up there and had said she had the power to speak to their ancestors. Though, Murkpelt's anger issues were bad at the moment since other cats refused to believe the group. Murkpelt yowled loudly out of anger and scrambled swiftly to her paws. The wind began to heat up around her as it came as quickly as lightning, but after hearing the other she-cat's response, calmed her.

"She is right. Are you all fox-hearted? They are our ancestors!" She hissed as the wind began to appear again, encircling her. The wind made her pelt whisp around her gorgeously as if she was underwater. "They grew up and raised many of us. And many of us go to them for help, advice, and the one time they come to us for our assistance, we can't believe nor accept it? You're all bat-blind." Once she said what she wanted, the wind stopped by blowing away in all directions cooly.

Duskshine looked in awe at the illusion he saw. He seemed a little upset as it ended but shook his head, clearing his mind.

"Starclan has helped us, in every moment of our dire need. Just as this She-cat has said, are we really going to turn our backs on them? Especially when they need us?" He asked.

He silently prayed that the others would step up, though at this point, he wasn't sure they would.

He wasn't even sure about this himself, but someone had to help Starclan. He was the same as all of the others, he didn't really want the gift he had, but starclan had given it to him for a reason.

He lowered his head, he tried to focus on his own feelings, but found it hard to do, even now that larger She-cat had made everyone look away or look down in some kind of emotion.

His head was filled to the brim, the feelings of anger, sorrow, grief, and many more wouldn't leave him.

β€œI do not understand the full ability of this illusion gift that I was given, but it has helped me protect my clan and helped by drawing out some of the scarce pray that we have in our territory so the clan can continue protected it. Leaf bare is hard on all the clans as food scarce. Call me a freak, cured, or what ever other names you can come up with but I will use this gif… no this Blessing to keep my clan safe and teach the next generations about start clan. With out star clan to guide us we are no better than rouges or loners. With out star clan we would not be here. We would still be stuck near the two legged’s territory.” She meowed as she wrapped her tail around her cold paws knowing full and well that most of these cats were scared as she was, the though of losing star clan vanishing from their lives meant that they would also lose touch with there past and knowledge that they had.

Mistpaw's pelt bristled a little more, his fur getting fluffed from anger and stress. It was not a blessing. It wasn't. They hadn't even asked them if they wanted these gifts and now these cats were putting their blind faith in Starclan? It wasn't at all fair. He didn't care. He kept telling himself over and over again that he was cursed and by starclan and tried to block out the other cats with gifts.

Featherpaw had been amazed by Moonfeather. She had heard that the she-cat had been given a gift, but she had only recently died and gone to silverpelt. She spent most of her time as a spirit watching over her cousin and making sure he was all right after she had learned of his gift. He had always been a jumpy cat who liked to make up stories, only, these stories about what he saw were true. But, now, she knew that Moonfeather could see her and maybe she'd be able to help if she'd be able to do something about it.

Otterpaw just hoped that the rest of the ten would come up soon. She hadn't seen one other cat from Riverclan and was starting to get worried. Either she was the only cat in her clan with a gift or that cat didn't want to come up. She tried to scan the Riverclan cats to see who would have a gift while the others made their speeches.

Hawkpaw | Sky | Tom | Apprentice | Umbrakinesis

Hawkpaw continued searching for his mother and older siblings in the crowd but with the sea of cats didn't see them, however the kit knew they were there within the crowd, Snake and Thunder likely sitting protectively on either side of their mother. Hawkpaw knew why though he didn't understand the difficulties his mother and older siblings had gone through, what with he and his littermates being born in Sky Clan as mama had been and sought to get back to with three of his older siblings though he understood he and his littermates had many more half-siblings who were older. Mama had given him and his littermates some details about that time, but the kitten only knew that their fathers were mean and didn't live or act like the cats of Star Clan or even the cats of Dark Forest to the best of his mother's knowledge. She said they didn't believe in either Star Clan or Dark Forest, that she wasn't sure they believed in anything. Hawkpaw shook his head, looking at his mentor who had fallen silent at the words coming from Moonfeather about how their former leader, Dapplestar had lost her ninth life in an attack from a rogue. Only the sky clan cats knew of this and Hawkpaw's ears flattened at this information before looking to his mentor for advice. The tom cat seemed annoyed and momentarily speechless at this. "How exactly do you expect the apprentice you have in your little cursed gathering to become a warrior if have no training? That is only hurting the molly's chances of becoming a warrior and as such she'll likely have to continue her training long past that of others her age," he said.

Hawkpaw did agree with his mentor there and looked up at the tom. "Then why don't you and your little group of riffraff head off into the wilderness and solve your problems yourself? Sometimes, change is necessary to be avoid repeating history and how do you expect the clans to work together when we are separate for a reason? Star Clan obviously wanted division, otherwise they would have made the clans one clan and not five separate clans. Perhaps this is a chance for us to become one clan."

Hawkpaw nodded in agreement with his mentor, wondering the same thing himself. He didn't know this 'Dapplestar' cat and so their death didn't affect him or his family at all. The kit was silent as the others continued to talk about Star Clan needing their help and yawned, becoming more bored by the minute. "Can we go home? I'm tired," complained Hawkpaw to his mentor. He hissed in displeasure and fear as a wind began blowing from one of the Shadow clan cats who had been protesting this entire time but then ended up joining the group at the tree. Hawkpaw remained stubbornly and safely next to his mentor but as his mentor nodded, signaling they could go home, Hawkpaw prepared to get to his paws to leave the gathering with his mentor and being the trek back to Shadow Clan territory.

"Hawkpaw," said Thunder as he padded towards his younger brother. "Why don't you say that you have a gift?"

"Thunder, it isn't a gift," said Hawkpaw. "I don't want this curse, even though it's cool," he admitted. "They're talking about going away from the clans for...maybe moons or years."

Thunder sat down at his brother's side, listening to Hawkpaw. "And?"

"I don't want to leave mama and my littermates," said Hawkpaw. "It will mess with my training to be a warrior. I'll never be one if I'm forced to go on a journey to help a bunch of dead cats." He looked at his brother and lowered his voice. "Besides, Star Clan never helped you, Snake or Omen and mama," he said quietly so only his brother could hear him.

Thunder was silent as his brother belaid his woes to him. "I want to be a warrior...not serve dead cats," he merowed angrily, tail lashing behind him. "Why are they even five clans anyway?"

Thunder shrugged in response, not knowing the answer to the question. He didn't care about the history of the five clans. "It does seem like it would be better suited for warriors to do," said Thunder thoughtfully. "But this might be a way to protect mama in case my papa or yours were to come looking for us," he said. "Fogpaw would be killed potentially on sight due to being blind and some followed us to sky clan borders," he said. "But it isn't fair to you or any other apprentices to sacrifice their training for dead cats that have nothing to do with us and would ruin your life," said Thunder. Thunder didn't have much belief in Star clan or dark forest, believing them to be stories because the clan cats couldn't think for themselves or do anything on their own. His younger sibling stared at him with angry tired eyes and Thunder rested his head on his brother's back in comfort. Hawkpaw's eyes closed and he purred under his brother's touch, the two male cats closer than perhaps should be normal for siblings. Thunder couldn't go if his brother was forced to go on this trip at all but perhaps words on how this would affect the training of apprentices might persaude him?

Spiderpaw | River | Tom | Apprentice | Flora Manipulation

Spiderpaw didn't notice Moonfeather looking at him as he remained by his parents, struggling not to cry. Tears pricked at his eyes, freezing as they began leaking onto his fur from the cold and he shivered from the snow. The kit was no longer paying any attention to anything spoken by the other cats seated around him, nor to the words coming from the cats at the clan. A gust of wind would follow some words from one of the cats about the previous leader of Sky clan's death and the reason for it, something that shouldn't be known at all by other cats outside of the clan. "Mama...it's c...coo...cold," said Spiderpaw between chattering teeth, the kit attempting to curl in on himself for warmth now. As he tried to fight sleep and the fear he was feeling by being next to his parents, Spiderpaw missed the fact that Otterpaw was looking through the clan to see if there were any cats that also had... 'gifts'. He barely paid attention to the wind that drifted through the area, warm when it shouldn't be warm with leaf bare or the arguing of other cats and thus has no idea that a Shadow Clan cat had gone to join those at the tree. As if the earth sensed his fear, it began shaking underneath him and the other cats, the kit unintentionally and unwillingly causing the earth to react to his emotions as it was wont to do and likewise with plants. He was young and couldn't control this curse yet over the earth and plants yet in this manner, unintentionally allowed others around him, at least in his clan and those at the tree to see that he had a gift as well though only Otterpaw would likely know who he was given their friendship. This however, did not seem to please his parents at all as they hissed angrily at him.

  • Dapplestar - it wasn't a name that Sorrellark particularly recalled. Even digging far back into her memory, nothing came to her. She decided that the old leader must have died long before she'd even been born, much like the ThunderClan cat claimed. And regardless of that, she agreed with everything else that she'd said, anyways. They couldn't allow this to happen, for the sake of their clans. Gift, curse, or somewhere in between, it had been given to them for a reason. To save the ones around them. This was what they'd promised to do when they became warriors.
With fur like hers, it was hard to not notice when the wind started to blow. She blinked a few times, curling her tail around her paws and crouching somewhat, as if shrinking into herself. This had to be another power. But who's, she wasn't certain.
As soon as the ShadowClan she-cat finished speaking, the breeze began to calm. Sorrellark found herself glancing to the molly curiously, silently trying to decide if it was purely a coincidence, or if there was a correlation there. Maybe it was nothing. She would ask later, she resolved, and looked back at the crowd.
She kept quiet, waiting for the other cats to finish. Silverwind's addition made her think back over the moons, wondering how often she had seen this illusion in effect, and not thought anything of it. It was so real, there was no way she would have been able to distinguish it from reality. Slowly, she turned her eyes on her silver clan mate. It was no use digging through her memory for this. She hadn't been able to tell then, she certainly couldn't now.
She only wished that her own power was a little more perceivable. She could feel it, but she couldn't exactly prove it. Not yet, anyways. Still, she opened her jaws to speak again, hoping to say something with more weight.
She didn't get the chance, distracted. The earth was humming beneath her paws, alive and frantic. Her eyes shot down, and she stood up, whatever frustration had been growing inside of her immediately replaced by fear. She looked up again, head swiveling around in search of the source. It had to be a gift. That, or the wrath of StarClan, itself. The latter option made her shiver.
Finally, her gaze caught onto a young RiverClan cat, probably an apprentice. He was curled up against the ground, clearly afraid. Her ears fell flat against her head, pity joining the fear in her body. But what was she to say? Of course he would be scared. And the warriors around him seemed to be of absolutely no help. How could they ever treat a cat of their own clan in such a way?
She glanced to the RiverClan she-cat who had joined them, also an apprentice. If they knew each other, then she felt it may be more comforting if the fearful apprentice was approached by someone that he knew. She knew that if she was in a similar position, she would not have wanted another Clan's cat trotting up and trying to speak with her. It would have only scared her more. Maybe he felt the same way.

Moonfeather had noticed the Riverclan apprentice, and the flora that started to grow. She then looked up, only to see displeasure. A low growl came from her throat, her maternal instinct kicking in as viewed the young cat.

Not only had she noticed, but her sister, Nightshade had as well, and in an effort to stop the large grey she cat, nightshade rushed in front of her sister.

"Don't do it, that apprentice isn't ours. You could get him in trouble, or worse, he might be thrown out of his clan." Nightshade hissed the whisper to Moonfeather.

Though it seemed as if the advice had gone in one ear and out of the other. When it came to kits and apprentices, Moonfeather would stop at nothing to protect them, even if they weren't from her clan.

She steadily trotted up to the two cats closet to the apprentice, she didn't know who they where, but seeing as how the apprentice seemed to try to get warm from them, she figured they where guardians of some sort, parents, mentor, or siblings.

"Why do you seem displeased by him?" She asked, despite her being angry, she tried her best to seem calm.

She tilted her head one way, and then blatantly stared them down.

"He has a wonderful gift, one that I myself envy. You should be proud. He can help so many with this gift." She spoke softly, almost to calmly.

She then looked down at the apprentice, not caring anymore who didn't like what she was doing.

"You are okay, right?" She asked softly, her demeanor changed as she spoke to the apprentice.

She ignored the comments being made, some claiming she was being soft, while others tried to make claims she was faking it.

Nightshade let out a hiss of disapproval, and the Thunderclan leader shook her head softly, knowing all to well that the large she cat wouldn't go without a good answer.

Murkpelt
-ShadowClan-

If Murkpelt was, to be honest here, she was beginning to become bored. All this arguing and defending was boring her, making her yawn. Since her pelt was thin, she controlled her wind to encircle her with warmth. She purred in pleasure from it, her blue orbs bouncing around the clearing. Though, she could feel a pair of eyes staring into the back of her head. She looked over her shoulder and saw a friend of hers staring at her; never had he seen anything like Murkpelt's behavior until now. She had slightly mentored him while his mentor was sick.

His name was Reedfrost, a calm, young, brown-spotted, striped tom. He had just become a Warrior and always looked up to Murkpelt as an older sister. Murkpelt sent a soft smile his way as he was kneading the snow beneath his little paws. Murkpelt saw the same with him.

Murkpelt saw some commotion off to the side, she remained resting against the snow calmly. She had already said her piece and stayed at ease in her spot. Murkpelt spotted the she-cat who had the gift of speaking with StarClan over speaking with another clan. Murkpelt simply yawns and before she knew it, her friend was resting beside her. Making shivers go through her body from his chilling-cold fur. He hadn't said a word and wasn't completely noticed him near her. He was shaking and some cats from her own clan were hissing in his direction. They obviously objected to him with her, but Murkpelt couldn't give two tails about it.

Duskshine sat back, he didn't know what to do to help the situation that played itself out. He wanted to help, but he just didn't know how.

He decided it was best for him to just lay down and wait. He looked around, all the cats that where there, well, they still felt scared, and angry, he could see why some where jumping to conclusions without actually listening.

Fear and anger mixed together, did strange things to others, making some irrational, or some jump to conclusions. But that was to be expected.

He looked down, and pawed at the snow, boredom taking over as he tried his best to ignore all the emotions circling him.
