While its similar to mine, a clear distinction would be that your character would be able to sense it around them, while mine is only able to mimic what he sees. Yours would be able to respond to sneak attacks a lot easier, while mine would be able to learn moves from watching them on TV. Plus our sub-powers are different too. I'll leave it to GM decide but we could edit mine too to create more differences if need be.

Your power sounds more like a heightened reaction and dedicated muscle memory. They do seem similar, but depending on how they're written, could be utilized in far different ways from one another.

I can still see them existing in the same setting without issue, but in the end, the final call lies with you and, as Kkushmar has said, the GM if they see any issues.

Hey, join the metalhead club. What were you thinking?
This

Main Power
Aurokinesis: Ariel can manipulate and control gold. She do so on a semi-atomic level, meaning she can change its state without changing its temperature.

Supporting Power A:
Golden touch: Upon touching any metal, Ariel can turn it into gold.

Supporting Power B:
Golden weave: Ariel's skin is interwoven with golden thread. This passively increases her durability to the point she can handle small-arms fire and low-level blunt force trauma, but very little beyond that.

Limitations

Limitation 1
: Ariel's abilities aren't inexhaustible and large displays and/or frequent use exhausts her. Similar to a muscle, her powers can (and have been) trained for greater stamina but overuse can damage her body. At present, she is only able to produce around 3 kg of gold a day.

Limitation 2: Her ability to turn metals into gold are bound by the laws of physics, and as such the initial atomic weight of the material must equal the final atomic weight. For example, converting iron to gold will only yield a 1/4th of the item's initial volume upon the atoms rearranging themselves into their new element.

Limitation 3: While her golden weave does give Ariel added durability, any injuries that do break the skin become doubly serious due to the risk of heavy metal poisoning from the gold. This puts a hard limit on how many times she can become seriously injured before chronic headaches and psychosis become a serious threat.

But I'm not married to it, I've got a few other ideas in mind, plus some old reliable superhero OC's

Hahahahahaha absolutely a Midas touch moment

And I still love how we all went similar but also so different in the end

That railgun is looking more and more like our future

Just need one more martial powered character and we can have Metalheads vs. The Catch These Hands Gang sub-arc.

Let's do some math.

The estimated world population by 2045 is nine billion.

About 10% of people have the correct genes for superpowers. Let's assume half of them live peaceful lives and never develop noticeable or substantive powers.

So, 5% of nine billion is 450 million, which is the population of 2022 USA and then some. That's, worldwide, 450,000,000 supers.

Let's say that 70% of those people would be considered D ranks - more than human, but still perfectly suitable for daily society.

30% of 450,000,000 = 135,000,000 C or higher rank

30% of 135,000,000 = 40,500,000 B or higher rank

30% of that = 12,150,000 A or S rank

30% of that = 3,645,000 S ranks in the world.

The proportion of the American population by 2040 is estimated to be 4%. So, 4% of all of that leaves us with... more math than I'm inclined to do before lunch. Suffice to say, you could in theory put all the S ranks in the USA in a city about the size of Surprise, Arizona.

FYI for the first mission, I HIGHLY recommend that at least one of you brings a character who can commune with nature in some capacity. I did not name the mad scientist "Demeter Green" for no damn reason.

EDIT: I love all the metal themed characters very much. Do not change them because of what I said. It will be hilarious if none of you have plant or animal powers. You will not die, I promise.

Biography

History
Born in the city of Sacramento in California, Julio's household knew no peace as he had to compete with 3 other siblings from the get-go. The youngest of the trio, yet futurely to rest in the middle, the boy felt often overlooked and compared nearly every single moment. It was hard to beat the perfect eldest, with life practically settled already, the age gap making no service to that bond. Full brother, half-brother- That didnt't matter, but how could he attract so much attention even when outside this darn house?!

Then came the twins and that sweet spot of being the cute youngest had been snatched too. Julio was average. Average height, average grades, the middle of the 'litter', average, average, average... Even the messes he got himself into out of rebellion seemed like typical boy things and easily dealt with by his extremely experienced mother. It was not fair! So he got sloppy and when that came back to bite his rear during a test that his mom would kill him for failing-!

The power the unnexpected power that came out of the stress was also...average.

For a while, Julio had given up. Maybe it was fate that he would just destroy devices by standing close to them and throwing coins for projectiles when he was bored. That was it, an average fate for a very average boy. It had taken the encouragement ans help from SASS' staff to eventually relight that flame, the longing from greatness that seemed to constantly get snatched right before his eyes. 'Be creative', no one could know him better than himself and if his heart was settled for more, then who was he to deny it?!

If average it's what he had, then you better believe Julio would be the best of average that there was!!

There were several nights of sleep lost over it, articles and more articles and then questions, but it was worth it when a glimpse of hope showed itself amongst the hidden potential his power had! A hero of the people, the fake speedster that soared through 'average'. With a firm base of operations in Los Angeles, Lightning Bolt oversees the Southwest area acting as a support to stronger supers in the region. A well-humored young man, the harshness and mild-disdain showed to his opponents couldn't be farther to the real Julio, who uses his own experience as a example of believing in oneself against all odds.

And It was good to finally let that internal light shine proudly...!

Relationships
  • Other person's name: Description of your character's relationship to this person.
  • You can consolidate this list if your character knows a lot of people or has a big family, or if you're lazy like me.
(Stay-at-home old mom, 5 other siblings/half siblings from other dad's, Julio's own dad was one of the better ones and fatigued himself from overworking to death when Julio was still a teen. Sadly not an uncommon thing for the neighborhood. I refuse to look up names right now, fuck you)

Superpowers

Magnetism Manipulation
One half of Electromagnetism. Julio can strenghten his own magnetic aura to attract ferromagnetic objects to himself or inverse the polarity to repel them from his location instead. It's at the core something extremely simple and weak, yet he's learned to be creative with it, pulling himself to structures, hovering ever so sightly from the ground to diminish friction and even attach himself to concrete walls.
As a result, Julio manages to pass as a speedster, all by knowing how to apply what he's got in efficient and showy ways. He can also theoretically generate energy, if able to constantly change his magnetic field to induce an electrical one. Though this has rarely been put to the test.

Limitations

...Read the Name Again: Magnetism, only. There are not actual lightning bolts (ironic), no electrocuting, nothing one would expect an electricity super to be able to do. While the jets in his suit do help out, being without ferromagnetic items in the vicinity will greatly slow him down, rending him practically useless in natural grounds. Julio can't magnetize objects either and depends on specific types of metal.

Wall Incoming! Pole-oof! Focus. Everything requires at least some of it to work. While the hovering can be done almost second-nature at this point, his movement is more comparable to swinging than it is running, contantly thinking of 'pull' targets to practically slingshot himself from. One moment of distraction can be all it takes to lose the rhythm and end juuust a little further from a target... and into a sudden pole. Ah, the chaos of the big city.

Charge the Remote not the TV: While he may be able to power devices, it is in no way a efficient nor quick thing to do. The voltage is laughable, compared to a lithium battery and it will take so long that one is better off using an actual charger instead. Not to mention that by the time he's managed to charge two of those batteries he'll be tapped out, given the effort of constantly changing the field polarity to accomplish it. Might be useful for an emergency or kickstarting machines, not much beyond that.

Other Abilities

Skills
Equilibrism
: Nope, the balance didn't come with it. Julio had always been a bit of a daredevil even as a kid, but there's a difference between climbing trees and walking over elevated walls and well, actually running up a wall. Over the course of AEGIS training he's been made aware of how physics can help or dampen progress and learned to employ it to the same degree a cat (probably) can.

Creature of Concrete and Wires: Ever try predicting where certain street is going to end up based on how it looks like and what structures exist in it? Well, depending of the chaos of the urban environment to move around surely does make one more aware of it! Not just having his home town memorized like the palm of his hand, but Julio has developed a certain intuition to how cities are put together; The neighborhoods, possible shortcuts, possible dead ends- It's the kind of thing you can only understand by living so close to what makes it work, in a daily basis. People were onto something with those metaphors...

Hero of the People! More than concrete and wires, what makes a town function are obviously the people in it! The little guy the sells veggies by the road; The big CEO's in their glass palaces... While Julio's social skills may be nothing to be truly envious of, but one has to admit that he has the right amount of tact. In an instant he'll be chatting up with others as if they're old friends and leave others wondering how he did it. What a charmer.

Loadout
Just his own smartphone, which has been given a special casing that nearly emulates a Faraday cage and keeps it from completely frying while Julio is out doing hero work. Needless to say, voice commands are a life saver!

Augmentations
Fully aware of how fragile he actually is against physical hits, even if difficult to catch, Julio has sought out an armored suit if only to make sure eventually hitting a wall wouldn't be his last. It comes employed with little front and back jets to help stabilize runs on top of non-regular terrain and vertical surfaces, automatically controlled by an A.I. that's linked to his phone.

Slavedriver

Name: Kingsley Plumbly Smidt-Hausen Rothlundt
Gender: Female
Age: 22
Power: Endosymbiosis/Parasitism
Rank: B1
Limiter: (In)Active
Appearance

Race
Anglo-Saxon

Hair
N/A

Eyes
N/A

Height
Variable

Figure
Roughly around 15lbs of mass

Notes
A sticky mass off ooze, Kingsley does not have a human form but is capable of maintaining a pseudomorphic humanoid appearance for purposes of communication. Capable of emitting sounds by vibrating the membrane of her form. The ooze itself is a dark, brick red and semi translucent.

Personality

Positive Trait
Sanguine: With all the crap handed to her, it would have been too easy for Kingsley to fall and spiral into a depression. Instead, her personality latches on hard to a hopeful attitude that one day this could all work out for her. That things will get better, that maybe she'd find a way back to normalcy. Even at her lowest, she'll find a way to pull herself back together again.

Neutral Trait
Habitual: In order to survive, Kingsley has relied upon being a creature of habit. Her daily routine, fresh interactions and plans are by the book and well practiced. If it works, why change it? If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Neutral Trait
Genteel: Despite her life choices and circumstances, Kingsley remains polite and overly careful to remember to be polite and respectable when she can.

Negative Trait
Self Obsessed: It's all about her. When things boil down, what matters is that Kingsley herself is safe and happy. Fuck the world, everyone could burn for what they've done to her and she wouldn't shed a tear. Unless it affects her, there is no empathy. Contrary to popular opinion, the world does revolve around her.

Biography

History

Born into the wealthy family, Plumbly Smidt-Hausen Rothlundt, Kingsley had nearly everything one could ever wish for. She was a golden child in every aspect, feared and respected by peers and peons alike. A life of ease was in store for her. Until her power manifested. Instead of flight or super strength or laser beam eyes, she melted. In front of everyone during class no less. Screaming for help. It was unseemly of her. Fleeing in a panic, she made it outside before collapsing and slipping into a storm system outside her school.

Carried away downstream, she finally came to as a puddle. A curious raccoon being the catalyst for her abilities, she infested and took control of the animal, making her way back to her home where she was, to put it lightly, soundly rejected. Unwilling and finding the waning body of the raccoon irritating, she made her way to a morgue and began eking out a living inside various coma patients before events unfolded and she found herself in the clutches of Facility 108.

Offered a deal, she took it and ever since has been living a fairly comfortable lifestyle within the AEGIS system actings as something of an agent. Willing to take on dirty jobs and risking bodily harm, she's been refining her powers and host jumping ever since.

Relationships
  • Other person's name: Description of your character's relationship to this person.
  • You can consolidate this list if your character knows a lot of people or has a big family, or if you're lazy like me.

Superpowers

Main Power
Kingsley has lost her solid body and form. Upon the activation of her gene at age 16, her human body literally melted down. In its place, a puddle of goo with the scent of burnt rubber. After a few days, her body slightly reformed and became semi solid in a poor mimicry of the human body, allowing her some pseudo anthropomorphism. In this form, she is fluid and can compress down liquid shapes and designs. The true purpose of this form is increased mobility as Kingsley is now a capable symbiotic creature. Able to enter under the skin of human beings, Kingsley resides spread out under the skin and in the blood of her hosts. In active hosts, she cannot control the body, but can amplify characteristics and perform light maintenance to protect her host's well being. In weak minded or impaired hosts, Kingsley can take full control over the body, using it like her own. In these cases, Kingsley is actively feeding upon the host in order to power her control, lifespan of her host being in direct correlation with the effort she exerts in that form in full control.

Supporting Power A: Freebody - Essentially a living 'slime', Kingsley has a variety of abilities based upon the attributes of this state.

Supporting Power B: Hostbody - Either parasitic or mutual, Kingsley can amplify host abilities and create a mental/physical bond with her host.

Limitations

Limitation 1
: Hunger - When out of host, Kingsley has an incredibly strong drive to bond with a host. This will drive the majority of her actions.

Limitation 2: Override - A host body, aware and mutually obtained, can detach at will from Kingsley. Active sentient minds can essentially force her out of their body with little effort. Unaware or non active minds cannot.

Limitation 3: Tech-reject - Nanomachines and other microtech machines are anathema to Kingsley and will attack/be attacked by her form both if pushed into direct contact with disastrous results for all parties.

Other Abilities

Skills
Manipulative psychology - After years of bonding and host jumping, Kingsley can be incredibly manipulative to get what she wants out of hosts and others.
Suicidal fighting - Being safely encased inside a host, Kingsley will and has committed the entirety of a hosts well being to the actions she directs. Capable of not feeling her hosts pain, she is essentially immune to 'painful coercion' inside a body. Forcing them to carry on well past their limits when injured.
Highborn - Formerly and arguably still a privileged individual, her bearing, demeanour, and insider knowledge of the 1% often come into use.

Loadout
An array of cloned and brain dead host bodies she often shuttles around in a van, utilizing different bodies for different purpose
Augmentations

Apologies on being a bit distant! I am writing tonight and tomorrow, I’ll get a character in.

Orion

Name: Halle (Hal) Oaks
Gender: agender/INDENT]
Age: Indeterminate, but at least 37
Power: Symbiote
Rank: B1 Rank
Limiter: They won't stay on; sleeps in a satis chamber with a limiter and a tracker

Halle is a nearly indestructible flexible blanket of thick terry-cloth like material, approximately one meter wide and three meters long, though they are capable of stretching to almost double those dimensions with effort. Halle is slightly fuzzy and uniformly dull dark red in color. They have no perceptible eyes, ears, or indeed features of any kind.
Ethnic Heritage
Unknown. Sometimes claims to be to be an alien from pi^3 orionis
Hair
Dull Dark Red
Eyes
None
Height
9' 10" typically but can stretch to almost 18 feet
Figure
Halle's figure is best described as flat and flexible. They have no bones or body structure to speak of other than roughly oblong. They weigh a bit over 10 pounds.
Notes
Completely covered in short coarse fuzz
Personality
Loyal
Halle doesn't have very many close friends, and does not take lightly those that they do have.
Fatalistic
Things are how they are. What's the use of complaining about it?
Lonely
Being a unique creature in a world dominated by humans turns out to kind of... suck.
Unforgiving
Gaining a new host is always a thrill at first, but seldom leads to true friendship. They always pour everything they have into the new relationship, but sooner or later they always get let down, adding one more drop of bitterness to their cup.
Biography
History
Halle's earliest memories are of scavenging for food in the back alleys of Minneapolis, sleeping rough with stray cats and dogs. They avoided periodic roundups by animal control by holding still and being mistaken for merely bedding. Eventually they were discovered by John Morrow (AKA Impact) of the twin city guardians, and subsequently spent most of the teens and twenties helping them to keep the city safe. Helping people made Halle happy, and they and John made a very effective team. But all good things end. After Aaron disappeared, and Harry retired, they didn't really feel like a team anymore so much as the remnants of a defunct social club. Kate was always more of a journalist than a hero per se, and John became more and more focused on running his family foundation. Eventually Halle just drifted away. For almost two decades they have wandered North America, keeping out of the spotlight and helping people here and there, rarely bonding with any host for more than a few days.
Relationships
  • Kate Barret: Former team mate and good friend
  • Aaron Mallory: Former team mate. Halle has still not forgiven him for running out on the guardians a quarter century ago
  • Layla: Halle's current host
  • Harry Triest: Friend and mentor
  • John Morrow: Sole remaining member of the Twin CIty Guardians. Former host. One of the few they don't hate
  • Lars Magnusson: A trickster who has evaded the guardians for years. Last seen in Baltimore some years ago.
Superpowers
You've got a friend in me:
Halle can bond with willing humans (and superhumans) by draping themselves over their head and shoulders like a cloak. This creates a surface level telepathic bond which allows both parties full access to the other's sensory data. This also allows Halle to share their strength, flight and healing capacity with their host, effectively making them a super if they are not already one, and adding options for supers who cannot already fly or heal themselves
Wind Beneath your wings: Flight is Halle's only method of locomotion. They can fly at top speed of about 230 mph for brief 'sprints' and can maintain 90 mph comfortably for long periods if unencumbered. They are shockingly strong for their size with a maximum lifting capacity of about 250 standard tons, though this will reduce their speed to nearly zero. They can comfortably carry up to 5 tons without tiring, and 40 tons with significant effort and about 80% reduction in speed.
Happiness is a warm cloak: While it does not rise to the level of typical comic book regeneration, Halle can heal quite rapidly, and when wrapped tightly around their host they serve as excellent protection from the environment, can stabilize all but the most grievous injuries for transport to a hospital, and can actually heal most minor injuries within minutes (superficial cuts and abrasions) to hours (Serious burns, open wounds and broken bones). They must keep still while healing however and cannot do it while actively fighting.
Limitations
Soft Body: while very strong, Halle can't hit things due to the lack of bones. They can enhance their host's punches, but this can get messy if the host doesn't have super strong bones.
What the hell?!: Once you get to know them, Halle seems pretty cool and fun, but their appearance is more than a little off putting at first meeting. It seriously bums them out how people react to them.
Blind: Halle has no eyes, but has exceptional hearing , and can sense their immediate environment through a kind of echolocation. They can see though their hosts eyes when they are fully bonded.
Damnit Jim!: Organ damage and lost limbs are beyond Halle's capacity to heal. This can be a problem for hosts, though Halle can usually keep them stable while rushing them to a hospital for proper medical attention. Multiple organ trauma or severe head trauma though is bad news and will likely result in host death regardless of Halle's efforts. As far as medical science has been able to determine, Halle does not personally have any internal organs (or indeed limbs!) In theory Halle could be injured badly enough to require hospitalization, or even to die, but so far they have been able to heal all injuries they have sustained within a day or two. Radiation or immolation or chemical burns could probably kill them, or possibly being completely shredded, but it is exceptionally difficult to actually cut Halle at all
Other Abilities
Skills
Mime: Halle is unable to speak but has developed incredibly expressive, and occasionally very funny, body language
Wrestling: While their style is unorthodox for obvious reasons, Halle can wrestle effectively even against significantly stronger opponents. Against ordinary humans, or even supers without enhanced strength, Halle can casually restrain several people, or up to a dozen with effort. As a side effect of Halle's largely unconscious symbiotic powers, anyone they grapple feels snug and warm and will immediately begin healing any minor injuries.
Loadout
Stasis Chamber. Halle's mobile home, designed by Harry to give them a safe place to sleep. It is a cylinder three feet high with a diameter of about 10 inches, which, when activated from the inside is all but impossible to open, and virtually undetectable except by physical contact.
