Mind Control​

Name: Noah M
Age: 19 years old
Gender: male

Personality: There is a lot of hatred within Noah's heart even if it might not be that recognizable at the beginning, because he tries to hide it. Yet, there are times when Noah feels like the hate is going to eat up his skin and bone. He wasn't always like that. It started probably around the age of 11 after he head been transported to another lab and accidentally found himself at a local farm where he breathed fresh air for the first time and saw the outer world. Back then when he realized that life could be different, he knew that something was wrong with the lab. And while he was being used for tests, tortured and while the doctors tried to break his mind the wish to leave grew stronger. That time the hate began the form, and it grew until now. This is why he keeps himself controlled and distanced most of the time. He is an organizer, he plans things and takes responsibility which gives him the feeling of safety. Also, it is the only way to keep his head clear and not full of impulsive emotions. However, there is and will always be a cynical undertone that isn't going to leave anytime soon. He also learned in the lab to be loyal towards the other kids therefore he decided not to leave alone. Since he belonged to the group of kids that were taught to control things with their bare mind, he was schooled in many analytical subjects and succeeds in logical and mathematical thinking. Noah is a tough guy with an extremely hard shell, but a kind heart which he only shows towards the other kids.

Backstory: Like all of the other kids, Noah was born in the lab. He belonged to a group of kids that were born with the ability to control people's thoughts with their minds. Everybody from the lab knows that the mind manipulation kids have the toughest lives maybe along with the physically enhanced kids. To measure and train the kids minds the researchers do sometimes give them an injection that creates an immense fear since fear can clear their thoughts and enhance their ability to control other people's minds. It is well known that a lot of kids don't make it past the age of fourteen, because they go crazy and get eliminated. When Noah was 11 years old they transported him to a new lab to start the tests with him, and there was a confusion. For some reason Noah ended up on a farm where the researchers do tests with a few animals and for the first time in his life and in most of any kids life from the lab, he saw the outer world. And before any other thought came to his mind, he asked himself why he hadn't been allowed to see all of this beautiful things. It was only ten minutes after when a researcher found him and brought him back to the lab. After that incident, Noah had changed. It had a reason that he was able to shut himself down, and didn't let the injections affect him: A thought was planted in his head that he was going to leave this lab any time possible and go back to the outer world that was not as dangerous as he had been told all his life. He lived with the kids and didn't let them notice anything, but soon it was clear that he couldn't leave this place alone, because some of the kids had found a way into his heart. So, he let a few of the kids into his secret and told them his plan: To run away, and somehow find a way to destroy the lab and free the other kids.

Skill: Noah is able to control the minds of other people. He can plant small thoughts in their head that can make them change their way or say something they didn't want. However, he is not able to do that if the people are shielded with aluminium which acts as a barrier for mind control. Also, he will get a strong headache after using his ability that contains parallels to a strong migraine. It can last up to four hours. When trying to create bigger thoughts like seeing images of nonexistent things, he might as well black out for a few minutes.

Ecological Manipulation

Name: Rose B
Age: 16 years old
Gender: female

Personality: Rose is a beautiful and gracious girl. Whenever she moves or does something, she somehow manages to do it in a very elegant way. She is a very empathetic person who tries to understands the reason for people's acting, and to never be judgemental about something. Most probably, she is the only one of the kids that doesn't hate Arthur Magnus for being the man he is, but rather tries to understand his motives. Yet, this is also her biggest flaw, because she can be really naive and easily change her mind about things. Rose is a very optimistic person that always tries to see the best outcome out of a situation maybe because she was educated this way. Therefore she also always tries to put on a good face. However, when it comes to stress and any kind of pain, her facade begins to crumble. On the inside, she is very sensitive and anxious which other people might see as over-emotional or maybe even melodramatic. But she is actually extremely sensitive to pain even though, she had to bear the scars and agony her whole life. One of the doctors told her once that body is created to be that sensible to interact with its environment more easily.

Backstory: Rose grew up in the ecological manipulation department. This is one of the more peaceful sections of the lab, because the kids are trained to be empathetic and remain a stable and good mood which betters their ability to heal or interact with plants. Rose was always one of the favorites of the department's manager, because she would always have a very charming side to her, and was was keen to better her abilities. However, from early on, people knew she probably was a failed experiments, because of the scars that started to appear at the age of eleven. She could only use her ability to a certain extend otherwise she would get hurt herself, and could even die. When Rose grew older, she realized that her life was probably not going to last a long time if she stayed in the lab. So, she decided to contact Noah from whom she knew that he was going to leave the lab at a certain time. Due to her rather easy upbringing (compared to the other kids), she has a very light-hearted and happy nature. Most of the other kids do not really like the ones from the ecological manipulation department, because they are either jealous of them or see them als traitors since they receive more affection from the doctors. Rose does still not face the truth that most of the doctors did it to improve their abilities, not because they had true feelings for the kids.

Skill: Rose is able to use ecological manipulation. With the help of her mind and head, she can enhance the growth speed of plants and wounds, and do small versions of manipulations like changing the colors of plants. When helping to heal bigger wounds or maybe a broken bone, she will most likely not only feel the pain of the other person in the process of healing, but most probably develop a scar somewhere on her body. The size and pain of the scars will depend on the difficulty of a task. A strong empathy for the person she is healing will make the process better and easier. Also, she realized that over time and with a lot of training, the scars have become a lot smaller.

Dr. Arthur Magnus
Researcher​

Name: Dr. Arthur Magnus
Age: 54 years old
Gender: male

Personality: Arthur Magnus is a fractured personality. On the one hand, he is the loving father of two kids and married to his wife Anne Magnus. On the other hand, he is the ice-cold leader of Handler Labs. He is by far not a callous person. Otherwise, he wouldn't be able to be such an affectionate father. However, he is able to turn off this affectionate side as soon as he enters the Handler labs. He is very structured, organized and goal-driven. At school and at university, he would always shine with the best grades and outstanding work. However, his intelligence can also make him appear very arrogant at times. He knows what he wants, and he very sure most of the time that there is no other opportunity other than the one he took. Some of the people at the Handler Labs can't stand his arrogant behavior, but almost all of them have great respect for him. At work, he is also very reserved and you can see that he is able to switch off all of his emotions for the higher goal. At home, he sometimes questions his own work, but has persuaded himself that there is no other way to evolve the human race other than experimenting with humans themselves. Arthur is a rational thinker, sometimes a charmer and also manipulative at times which kind of comes with the work he does. Other than managing the lab, he also studies the kids of the Ecological Manipulation lab.

Backstory: Dr. Arthur Magnus is the one in charge for the laboratory in Langcook, Kanada. From a very young age Arthur Magnus had a huge fascination and talent for biology. His interest had been sparked when his father lost an ear due to a biopolar phase and had been able to regrow it at the side of his arm. Arthur who was always a rather shy and introverted boy would spend hours and hours reading about manipulating genetics. After school he studied Genetic Manipulation and Molecular Cell Biology, did his master and even took a doctoral degree. His years in university were pretty rough due to him having inherited his father's mental illness. The stress at university intensified the outcome of the illness, and he struggled with different medications. After Arthur had finished his doctoral degree brilliantly, he was actually seeking to teach at a educational instituation. However, he was approached by Dr. Felix Handler who had established and created the Handler Labs with research focus on manipulating biology. At the beginning, Arthur was shocked to see that Mr. Handler worked with living kids. However, Mr. Handler ensured these kids were born especially for this research focus, and they were working for a higher goal. With manipulating the biology of kids, they were not only allowed to use these supernatural abilities for fun, but also to cure illnesses such as cancer. Mr. Handler made Arthur an offer: He would cure Arthur Magnus' biopolar disorder if he undertook the laboratory since Mr. Handler had become too old. The rest is history ...

Hysterical Manipulation​

Name: Halton Davis
Age: 13
Gender: Male

Personality:
Callous, lacking empathy, inflexibility, calm, conscientiousness, trusting.

Backstory:
There isn’t much before the age of ten that Hal remembers, though he knows that he has always lived in this lab. He was raised in an emotional based power group, there was a large range of other kids who mostly didn’t understand their own emotions let alone how their powers worked even with the training and free range to use said powers. Halton discovered that he was one of the few to have such strength and heavy downfalls with his powers which lead to him not wanting to use them recreationally. It also seemed as though the doctors were more fearful over spending time with this group as they weren’t sure on how to protect themselves from being manipulated so the kids were left to comfort each other. Meeting other “failed” experiments had Hal more open to listening about any semblance of an escape plan. Destroying the ‘home’ he had grown in didn’t hit him in a way that had Halton feeling guilt as he was realizing how terrible the lab was. True there was a small piece of him that was tied to the physical building, it had him only somewhat caring for the ‘comfort’ he felt having a place that was shared with the others. The talk of them getting out and making sure to come back to make sure to let the other kids out was what made Hal fully lean into the plan.

Skill:
Hal has the capability to force someone to feel a certain way, depending on how skilled he gets this can lead to a full blown mental breakdown. To do so he has to have eye contact or physical touch, the physical side allows him to feel how he is manipulating the other. A side effect of having this power is that Hal cannot feel emotions on his own, he has to be controlling someone else in order to have that sensation. Along with growing in his skill with using the power Hal will lose the sensation from his nerves and grow numb to physical pain.
