In the far east was the town of Silverfrond, which Argius stated was "along the way". He said that, though he knew about the ruins due to Oghma's visions and directions, the god had not actually told the minotaur where to go or how to get there, instead leaving the bull beastfolk to figure things out. The group was heading forward towards the town, only to be stopped by the sounds of deafening screams. Over the hills they could see smoke arising from the town, the cries of children and babes, and the shouts of men in panic. The town was being attacked, and the information they needed in the town, about the location to Oghma's Ruins, was going down in flames.

Balthazar
During their travel, Balthazar had his smoking pipe on his lips, ready with another batch of herbs he enjoyed to smoke. The old wizard was mostly silent, choosing to use their time traveling as a break to digest every bit of information he had received within the Guild Hall so far. As usual for him, when walking in a group, he preferred to take the rear. He did so, not only because of his physical frailty, but also as it would give him a chance to analyze the quest giver, Argius. Something kept warning the old man to pay special attention to him. Was there any merit to it or was the old coot just wasting his brain juice doing it so?

The answer would have to wait as the group came to a hellish view of the town they were supposed to travel to. The flames, the smoke and the screams. Flashes of a past the magus was not proud of appeared before his very eyes. His facial expression betrayed him for a moment, his eyes widening, his mouth opening slightly. The tyrannical face of the late, and last, Grand Magus Tildan Delbolbes came into full view, before dissipating and bringing the wizard back to that very moment.

What should they do? Well, there wasn’t much to weigh in that situation: the group needed to enter the town, regardless if they had or not the inclination to save the town and its residents, they had to bring order to chaos - “We will have to prepare for combat earlier than I've expected” - he said, looking at every member of their party. Extended his right hand forward, which held his staff, he dropped it and, before it hit the ground, it simply disappeared. Still holding out his right hand, he also held out his left one, pointing them at an empty space a few ways in front of the group.

Without so much as uttering a word, the ground shook. Raising his hands, a monolithic, rocky figure started to rise from the ground. The stone golem rose from the earth, standing at 12 feet tall. The creature opened its wide arms, roaring in a loud, almost demonic guttural voice. The creature started to march towards the town, with the mage following it not far behind it.

The town was under siege, and it seemed incredibly important to protect it. Both Argius and X'nerus unsheathed their weapons. Argius turned to his party.

ARGIUS

HP: 50% / 100%

"Balthazar, round around the back and do your best to survey the damage and get any surprise on our enemies. Use your stone golem to protect yourself. Alice and Siwai, attempt to save any individuals, injured or otherwise. X'nerus, join me in stopping the threat." To which the feline nodded.

Siwai was already dashing off the moment he heard the screams. His eyes flashed with rage at the sounds of chaos. He glanced back at Argius, "Alright! that's what I was plannin!"
He charged into the town, quarterstaff brandished, ready for action.

Balthazar

Balthazar heard the taurine hurried orders and nodded - “They will never know what hit them” - he commented, in a mocking tone, towards whatever waited for the group within the city limits, and followed the plan as it was laid out to him. Both the old wizard and its creation started to make their way around the town, with the golem taking the front for protection. With each step, a slight tinge of anticipation grew, wondering if it were the goblins that they would face.

Alice Evergarden

The travel to the quest proved to be rather quiet, Alice had spent most of it in Siwai's shadow. Literally. When the group came across the burning town, Alice hummed from her dematerialized position behind the kobold. "Hm, alright." Alice muttered in an almost dejeted tone. Being in Siwai's shadow, Alice tagged along with him. As they neared the entrance of the town ethereal smoke began to build and nip at the heels of the kobold. "Lead the way, Siwai. Try not to breathe in too much smoke, okay? I wouldn't want to cause any permanent damage." Alice remarked, still hidden in the shadow of the boy.

Balthazar was met with almost no obstacles. The buildings had began to crumble from the flames, stones toppling on children and adults alike. It was obvious that whatever was there was interested in destruction and devastation. Goblins were, of course, sneaking past...but also something more sinister. A sense the mage probably would recognize. Daemons. Summoned from the Netherworlds.

As they went into the collapsed village, they found large monsters blocking their path. It was obvious that they would be facing monsters. Argius' nearby cries of pain filled the air. It was obvious that they had become outnumbered.

Siwai summoned his Ki into a golden orb between both palms. "These ain't goblins! Alice, be careful!"

He looked at the monsters, diminutive as he was, there was no trace of fear in the kobold hybrid. With a sweeping motion, he lashed a beam of pure radiant energy across as many monsters as he could.

Balthazar

The old man’s nostrils twitched, his nose moved from side to side as he got closer and closer to the town. And it wasn’t from the smoke arising from the flames that were engulfing so many houses and constructions inside the town. It was instead of the energies he felt that place was filled with. The dark energies and demonic forces had a peculiar smell and feeling, which the old magus would never mistake. Balthazar himself was actively trying to gather more knowledge and becoming proficient in such arts. While many may consider it forbidden or sacrilegious, the same way that necromancy is also seen, to the Magus they were nothing but tools, that existed to be used in the right situations.

But, in that very moment, his mood was not so much as to learn about it. Without saying a single word, his golem rushed, with its massive body, forcing its way inside the town. The creature tried to shield the civilians from the rocks that were falling due to the flames. It was, however, not the being’s own choice, but rather the wizard’s. The decision was not taken without proper consideration: it was a high-risk, no-reward bet. His golem being busy saving the villagers, left the mage not properly guarded. Albeit the magus was not terrified to be without rocky servant, his attention perked up.

Lightning began to crackle around him, when he saw the very first goblins came into his view. The air was sizzling with electricity and, pointing the tip of his fingers towards two of the green monstrosities, a bolt was shot towards them. It ripped through the air, its loud sound travelling throughout the town, as if a furious tempest was ready to hit the village. Meanwhile, the stone creature dragged as many as of the villagers it could outside danger. Leaving them in a field, quite a few ways from the mage.

Alice Evergarden

Alice didn't bother to respond to Siwai, the time for talking was over after all. The witch slipped out of the boys shadow and back into existence, crude tome in hand. She traced a finger across the painted eye upon the cover and held it close to her face, muttering an incantation into it. Soon after, ethereal smoke began to pour from anywhere it could. Shady backstreets, crumbled buildings, out of the sewer. Billowing clouds of grey mist took upon the monsters. Mere contact with the smoke would dull the mind, muddle the senses. Sharp images would become blurry suggestions of shapes and ideas, the adrenaline of conflict would be forced out, replaced by an artificial peace in the mind.

Most of the smoke piled onto the monsters, but a much thinner layer descended upon the populace as well. Just enough to shake the panic, to restore the mind to a state of clarity.
