Name: Dr. Sori Tieros


Age: 46


Position: Assistant Chief of Biology - runs part of the lab dedicated to making the world habitable and investigating the life that has emerged since terraforming.


Race: Anaxan


Appearance: Like most females of her species Sori stands slightly taller than the average male, around 7'4". Apart from this she is indistinguishable from a male while wearing clothes. Unusually her setae are mostly grey or white instead of brown, which gives a bright sheen to her surface. The chitin underneath is the usual black.


Sori moves with a kind of slow grace, and tends to walk almost silently. Once she was considered attractive, but after an accident severed one of her middle arms she's been regarded with less enthusiasm.


Personality: Sori tends to be soft-spoken and cheerful, but with a quiet conviction. Although she never seems to outright discipline her staff or even give them orders they always end up doing as she wants. All the while she roams about the lab being essentially kind to all, showing a genuine interest in their lives. Whether her team members enjoy this attention or not depends on their upbringing - some still see her as just another crawly to be avoided. Often she is hopelessly naive, expecting others to have the best intentions.


Internally she always worries about her position as the only anax ranking scientist, and all though intellectually she know's she's capable she finds it hard to shake the stereotypes of her species. Still, her passion drives her to continue, and she is easily excited by any new find.


She is obsessed with food, especially sugary food, and takes frequent breaks to chug softdrinks.


Bio: Sori is unusual for being an anax scientist, but one of the surviving legacies of the Flare's early days was a free and equal education for all races. Although both her parents were technicians working on minor systems she took an extreme interest in her schooling, and ended up being one of the more promising minds of her generation.


For her mandatory work-shifts as a teenager she was often given difficult or dangerous work, because, as the reasoning went, 'the extra arms help'. When she was sixteen she was cleaning the inside of a life-support intake when the Flare made an unscheduled correction burn. Her harness line wrapped around one of her central arms as she was thrown, mangling it beyond repair. Since then she has steadily moved through the ranks of the colony's science establishment, being for a long time the most enthusiastic biologist with no real biology to examine. The day the Flare made it's approach was the happiest of her life.

Position: Agricultural Engineer (Fancy name for farmer)


Race: Human


Appearance: Roland stand at the average human height of 5' 11". He looks as what would be called a baseline human, which means he does not have any of the adapted traits of far flung colonists. He has a dark brown head of hair that he keeps somewhat ubkempt, as well a eyes of the same color. His skin tone is tan peach, while his build is somewhat toned from farm work. He has a discolored patch of skin on his back 7 inches in diameter from where new skin was grafted after a surgery as a child.


Personality: Roland tends to be brash and energetic. He loves the outdoors and takes pleasure in a good long day of hard work. He is always likely to speak what is on his mind, as well as telling people when they screw up. However, don't take this behavior as mean spirited. He honestly believes it is best to just speak your mind so there are no misgivings. He is actually kindhearted in nature and spends a good part of his free time helping others. To some he is a generally nice guy. To most is is a brash farmer with a soft spot. To the thin skinned he is the rear end of a donkey.


In part do to his following of the Crux of Faith, as well as being raised by a Chrisynth, Roland is generally more tolerant and accepting of the more diverse members of humanity. Despite his stance against the genemodding of humans, he will not shun those that are not baseline human.


Bio: Roland was unique among the colonists of the Flare, as he was raised by Chrisynths parents. At the time of his birth, a deadly disease was spreading and taking many lives within the Flare. Both his parents would succumb to the disease, and he would have died as well if a Chrisynths couple hadn't found him. Bringing him to a surgeon, Roland was able to undergo a procedure that removed the infected tissue from his back. The Chrisynths couple, seeing that the young boy was now orphaned, adopted him and raised him as their own.


Roland has spent most of his life growing up on the colony planet Field. He grew up always wanting to explore the edges of the colony, looking through the wilderness for new and exciting creatures. He was always more active than the other kids on the colony. He would even take his younger Chrisynths siblings out for adventures into the surrounding jungle. Still, this love of the outdoors would lead to him becoming one of the head agricultural engineers on the planet.
