An early leafbare breeze shifted the leaves of the canopy as the first light of day pushed out the night sky. The undergrowth gave a quake as a couple of slender figures prowled along the border, marking as they went. The long brown fur of the female shivered as some dew fell onto her as she past. Her black male companion chuckled before pausing to scent the air. "It's safe. Let's continue." Shadefang said, Olivebranch knodded before taking the lead down the narrow path along the creek. "I can't wait until I have an apprentice of my own to join us on patrol." Shadefang simply rolled his eyes in response. "You know, I didn't choose to be on patrol with you." Olivebranch hissed. "Then go hunt. You're barely more than apprentice so you will be no help to me." Shadefang snapped. "Do you think that's smart with all the cats that have gone missing?" She asked, Shadefang bristled, "I said you will be no help to me." With a look of disgust, Olivebranch turned and vanished into the undergrowth.
In the camp, a small light red brown she cat sat with her tail wrapped around her paws and her face tilted toward the sky. 'Starclan, help us!'. She silently prayed. The thought of her clan slowly shrinking due to an unknown enemy made her blood rum cold. A warning yowl sounded, calling her attention back to camp. 'A storm will end the shade that threatens the fate of all.' a mixtures of voices flooded her ears. Acornfall pushed through the barrier, holding a small bundle of grey fur. "Come quickly. It needs help." He muttered, setting it into the center of the camp. Fawnpaw hesitated before springing into action. -c-
