"Arcane Fashion" is an idea I came up a while ago but never got to making it a reality until now. This roleplay would take place in an alternative world during it's middle ages. However, unlike Earth's, people within this alternative world have fused their knowledge of science and magic and produced something far beyond what earthlings could ever do. They've created Arcane Links.
An Arcane Linker is a magic powered mechanical wristwear with a clock which acts as a link for magic to be accessed by those who understand and possess it. Anyone can wear it, and obtaining it in this world is not very hard, only an engineer and a wizard's cooperation are required to produce this, and frankly, they do it all the time. It has been one of the best sources of gold so far.
The glove, as mentioned above, works as a link between the user and magic. The clock never stops ticking, however, the arrows themselves don't move. Upon creation of this glove, both arrows are stuck on 00:00, however, the more magic is linked with this glove, the further the arrows move, and it can do it until the arrows reach 00:00 again. With every link done, the minute arrow moves by 20 minutes. Meaning the maximum links possible on a glove is 3*12=36.
What are Links?
Arcane Links are like fuel to the Arcane Linker and acts as it's food. They are runic symbols drawn with special ink - magic. For it to be functional and ready for linking, it has to use up a Link Crystal, otherwise it will not work with the glove. Upon usage, the glove gains power equal to what the rune meant. There are hundreds, and even thousands of these runes to be inscribed, it all depends on the wizard that inscribes them. However, the crystals are very hard to obtain and are often the life force of ferocious monsters around the world that hide or attack villages. They must be defeated for their bodies to turn into the crystal. Each rune has a different magical effect. Some are strictly one spell, some are more free, however, they all are powerful in their own way.
That's where our institution comes in - Arcane Fashion, or Arfa for short. It is a group of people who use these Arcane Links in order to find even more crystals and upgrade their powers even more. Located in one of the capitals of Shinwa, the most economically and politically advanced country on the globe, they also protect it from any enemies, thus have cooperation and funding from the king of Shinwa. Whenever a monster is located, they rush to it to obtain this crystal.
You would be playing one of the Arfa members, an Arcane Link user.
