Every year a group of childhood best friends would gather in their woods back home for an annual camping trip. Being college aged everyone had split on their own life's journey, but still came back home for this no matter what, everyone but Augustus. A year after high school graduation, Augustus simply didn’t show up, no one knew how to contact him, nor any idea where he could have gone. Seven years passed, and just like every other year the camping trip came. The old friends caught up and set up camp just as usual, but when night fell a strange figure emerged from the woods, a young man wearing a pointed wizards hat- it was Augustus!

He joined the others at the fire, seeming just as excited as the rest of them, but something was different about him. As he began telling his story, his words like a melody, the fire began to change color and the world began to shift.

“We are not meant for Earth my friends. We must go back home and right the wrongs of our families.”

*Please refrain from posting anything out of character in this thread.*

Being the first year back under her parents roof Lyra once again had to beg her them to go on the camping trip-like she was some high school child. It took her promising to sign up for a whole extra class during summer orientation a few weeks away. After the years of freedom Lyra couldn’t help the resentment she felt towards her parents, having to constantly remind herself they were all she had and to keep her mouth shut.

The hot summer sun bore down on her as she walked a few miles to the hidden camping spot of their friends. Her hiking pack was almost too heavy, but still a manageable weight of food, clothes, some other essentials, and mostly her trusty tent. The walk filled her mind with all the hopes of a good break from her life, a break to forget the last couple years and put herself back into the blissfulness of friends. Yet, Augustus wouldn’t be there, he hadn’t been there for some time and still her heart ached to see her closest friend.
Childhood memories bombarded her the moment she stepped into the thick woods; Her and Augustus muddy, far in the lead, a few of the others right on their heels, and the rest trailing behind; their second time exploring the ‘forbidden’ hollows was when they found the clearing. It was mid spring then, a hidden stream that led them the direction to the clearing of bright red, yellow, and orange poppies making a perfect circle around the thickest part of the stream. It was there that they played the most, and when finally old enough they camped inviting any new close companions worthy of their secret spot.

The first to the spot this year Lyra took her time in the silence thinking of all good memories, getting herself into the right mood, she couldn’t-no wouldn’t let her past year bring her or her friends down. Think happy thoughts, she reminded herself over and over again. As the rest of the group appeared Lyra wandered over, greeting everyone in their own personal ways, helping wherever she could.

Finally the stars were beginning to sparkle in the sky, the full moon shifting higher and higher. Their fire crackled and reached high, casting it’s warm glow around the sitting group. Lyra had taken it upon herself to cook the first night's food; burgers for some, beyond burgers for others, and everyone’s favorite chips! It gave her enough time to be by herself, to decompress from the growing painful emotions that she had to hold back, and had to hide.

*Snap*

Lyra’s head turned in the direction she thought she heard a noise. Everything was quiet for a long time and it was easy for Lyra to forget and fall back into the conversation at hand. As per usual Lyra asked her signature question:

“So, what has been the most daring thing you guys have done this year?” She always loved to hear what mischief some of their friends got up to, while also hearing all the good things the others have done with their lives.

*Snap* *Snap*

It came again and this time Lyra knew she wasn’t hearing things. She pushed herself to her feet staring in the direction it had come from. They were in the woods after all, and this wouldn’t be the first time an animal had stumbled upon them.

“Hey, who goes?” Someone called out, Lyra no to sure it hadn’t been her. No response came, but more snaps resounded, getting closer and closer.

A shadowed figure stood in the brush in the direction Lyra had turned too. She couldn’t make out much but a tall form made taller by some weird pointed hat. Did some lunatic find their spot and was going to try and murder them? The form stepped out farther to be lit aglow in the light of the fire.

“Augustus!” She cried out, almost instantly tears she had always hidden from her friends sprouted to her eyes. This year had been so bad, but if Augustus and everyone else was here, maybe it could be better.

“Hello friends.” He stepped closer to the group, a small smile lighting up his face. He looked almost exactly the same, just older, a little facial hair having formed a shadowed goatee around his mouth. Without realizing it Lyra had held out her hand to him, to see if he was real, and in response his own squeezed hers quickly before he dropped it to move in closer to the rest of the group still around the fire.

“It’s been too long, yes I do know it’s been mostly my fault.” He answered someone's retort before it could even come out. Augustus fanned his fancy robes out and sat on the log that had always been his, right between Lyra and Fan and smiled at everyone some more.

“Where have you been?” Lyra finally whispered more flopping than sitting back down in her spot. It took her a long moment to fully process his strange outfit, but she had already used all her willpower to speak what she had, she didn’t want to do or say anything that might make him walk away again-this time forever.

“You all wouldn’t believe the places I have been. What I have seen.” Augustus leaned forward, a spark of excitement, and something more glowed in his eyes. His voice was different, the words spoken as if they had a little melody to them.

“Oh how I have missed you all, but there is so much more out there, and I think it’s time it was shared with you all.” Lyra was entrapped in his words, the woods around her had lost all it’s noise, the only thing that she could hear, could see was Augustus.

“Don’t be scared, everything ahead of you will be worth it.” Augustus actually reached out and patted Elias’s hand before he rose to his feet. With his movement the sky filled the entire space around them, everything was the stars and cosmos containing shapes Lyra had never seen before.

“We are simply not meant for Earth my friends. We must go back home and right the wrongs of our families.” The stars fell around them and the world went black.

Lyra woke in a perfect circle of her friends, but it was not in the clearing back home, and Augustus was long gone. Above her no bright mood shone, and instead of the wondrous star filled dark sky, it was an endless array of purples. A warm, soft wind blew around them, the tall grass bending slightly with it.

Her breath came fast, a clear panic attack on the rise, no advice her therapist had given her could help at this moment. Where were they? Where was Augustus? WHAT HAD HE DONE!

Koshi looked around. Where was that black haired boy now? Where was he? He couldn't tell anyway, his glasses were misting up. He wiped them. He wasn't at the campsite, that was for sure. He was lying in a field.

He had a few pieces of very long grass in his hair, so he undid the ponytail/bun and he wiped away the grass from his hair. He looked in every direction to get his bearings. He had to stand on tip-toes to look up. He found the tall grass very strange.

Koshi looked up and was more surprised. There was no moon, just purple stars. Was he dreaming? He pinched himself. Yep, still awake.
"What the hell?" he mumbled quietly, a bit freaked out.

Hanako was on guard now. She woken in a patch of grass, in a land unknown to her. She felt scared for a second but the fear quickly melted away as she looked around. She hated to admit it but where they were right now was pretty beautiful, to her at least. The grass was unusually tall, taller than her even, she stood up at her height now. In her head she wondered what Augustus said, 'We are simply not meant for this Earth.' She doubted they were alien, but then again after this stunt, she wasn't so sure anymore.

Her hair was down, removing the hair band that was always on her wrist, she tied it up in a ponytail. The new scars on her neck were now visible. She had been in a bad fight recently, resulting in her neck bleeding slightly. Of course, she didn't notice until after the fight when someone pointed it out to her and when she felt the red liquid on her neck. Here eyes then looked to see her friends. 'Well at least none of them are dead yet.' Hanako thought, but her guard was still up.

Grabbing a dagger she carries around with her, she gripped it in her hand, Waiting to see if anything would come after them. If something did, she would be ready, she would not let any of her friends get hurt today.

While all of this was happening , the white haired young man was sitting holding his knees close watching a nearby fire burn to a crisp as it provided warmth for the rest of the others who went on this trip. He was sitting by Lyra per usual being very close to the girl who was the same age as him, though maturity wise James was much older than her. Though something appeared to be off by him, he was usually quite and only spoke when the others needed to act more mature, being the older brother figure for most of them. He was quite this whole time, people knew that he got into the Olympics but not much even dared to watch him compete.

This is one of the reasons he didn’t see them as freinds really more of acquaintances in fact. Though there was one person who he saw a friend, we’ll actually in fact more of a sister than a friend. And she was the only one who he spoke too besides saying hello to them. He was currently devastated and depressed from his lost in fencing, I think he Olympics. Streamed in international television. In front of millions of people. He felt like he brought disappointment to the entire nation of the free world.

He remembered that day, the sweat coming from him as his hand shake uncontrollably as he stabbed to deep and lost from a counter attack from the Russian male he went up against in the finals fighting for gold.

He remained silent when Augustus arrived, not seeing him in years. He was too much in the moment to give his attention, though he listened carefully.

In a flash everyone awoke in a new world definitely not of earths as an unfamiliar landscape was seen with the pupils of his eyes. Then he looked at Lyra who appears to have a panic attack. He put his hands around her shoulders trying to hold her in place, he did so carefully trying not to freak her out more as he kept a straight face.

“Lyra. Calm down, you need to calm yourself okay? Breathe in and out Lyra, calm down, I’m sure we’ll get an explanation for this soon.”

Bastard.”

He whispered to himself.

Nina Simone Rivera

Nina swore last year that this was the last time she would come, and the year before that. And here she was yet again. Chasing long gone moments where her life was much happier. It was exhausting. But she keeps coming back, and she keeps telling herself ‘ One last time…’ and then she’d move on and let go. Nina was a liar. And deep down she knew that she was lying to herself. She was too selfish to let go of the last genuinely happy moments she had. Maybe that’s why Augustus left.

She didn’t know why she still came. She should have stopped coming a long time ago. But she didn’t want to let the others down. Even so, it was tiring to come back to this place. It used to be full of good memories that seemed hollow now. All the times with Augustus and the others; what was he thinking back then? Before he left. Did he laugh and joke around with everyone after he decided to leave without saying goodbye? Nina couldn’t guess. He never let anyone see him vulnerable, for all she knew, he thought of her as a burden and left because of it. He always seemed so far away. Nina didn’t want to think about this anymore.

After a couple of hours of driving, Nina made it to grandmother’s house. She briefly exchanged greetings before heading off to the campsite, a smile making its way to her face. Here we go, Nina. Just like old times. You know the drill, don’t let anyone know how unhappy you are to be here. It’s not their fault that you’re the way you are. Nina stepped into the wooded areas, her expression faltering. This got harder every year. She quickly walked through the area, eyes trained on the ground.

Nina did the routine perfectly, she was able to laugh and smile and tell stories as flawlessly as she did the years before. She was even able to do a few dumb thing that got a chuckle out of the others. Before she knew it, the sky had darkened and Lyra was asking the annual question of who had done the most daring thing this year. Nina was half listening until Lyra called out to a seemingly unwanted guest. Her cheery expression dropped and she immediately stared at the strangely dress newcomer. Wait-

“Augustus!” Lyra’s voice confirmed her thoughts.

At first, Nina was happy. Overjoyed, even. Then she was angry. Angry at herself for being happy to see him. The first time she felt genuinely happy in years was for this? You could see the conflicting emotions on her face. Honestly, the poor girl looked frustrated enough to cry. She looked as if she’d seen a ghost. Maybe he was. Then Lyra touched him and he was real. He sat down with the rest of them as if nothing much had changed. Nina balled her hands into fists and bit her lips. She glared at the ground to stop the tears from spilling. Nina furrowed her eyebrows and collected herself. It took a terrifyingly short amount of time for Nina’s face to return to that of ingenious happiness. She finally looked up at the others. Honestly, Nina heard none of what the others said, she was too focused on keeping her expression from breaking. Then Augustus spoke and she had no choice but to listen.

He spoke vague words to them, they read like something out of a tall tale and sounded like a lullaby. Nina couldn’t even catch exactly what he was saying, to focused on the sound of his voice. Then he stood, and the world shifted with him. It frightened Nina. She squeezed her eyes shut and covered her ears, ducking her head as everything around her went black.

Her eyes snapped open and she was somewhere else. She slowly sat up, and looked around. The grass was tall here, everyone was on guard, Lyra was on the verge of a panic attack, and Augustus was nowhere to be found. Nina bit her lip, hoping to satiate the anger that boiled inside her.

Fan had been looking forward to the annual meet up. He had emailed everything to his editor early so she wouldn't be too worried if he went dark for a few days. Although the spot they all picked always had perfect reception. The drive to the camp site was quiet and uneventful. Fan was just happy that he'd get to see everyone again. Rare was it that everyone's schedules aligned so they could have even a day out together. Some were at college, some were working. Others like himself were just doing what they did to get by.

Fan enjoyed writing, he really did. Yet sometimes he saw things like Astoria studying to be a Nurse or Hana kicking all kinds of ass. It would remind him of how little he was doing with himself by comparison. His days usually just consisted of slamming his head into a desk while his laptop screen showed nothing of worth being typed. Forcing himself to think more positively. Fan reminded himself that he'd be with his friends, the people who knew him best. Although it was worth noting that not EVERYONE was going to be there.

After Augustus had up and vanished on them. Things got tense between everyone. Fan had always suspected that Augustus had been their glue. Without him, they fell apart quicker than a house of cards. They still cared about one another. However Fan could tell that everyone missed the presence of their proverbial rock. Without him, things just weren't the same. Pulling up to the campsite and exiting his car. Fan took note of the air. It was cleaner outside the city limits. He hadn't been out much lately. Pushing himself to give a near perfect draft to his editor so he could go on this trip with minimal worries, really took a lot out of him. That wouldn't matter when he saw everyone again.

That was when he saw Lyra. She was just as beautiful as ever. Although now her once radiant smile seemed a little sad. Ever since they were kids. Fan had always been in love with the older girl. She had been outgoing, charismatic and self-assured. The first to push ahead, the last to retreat. Lyra was everything Fan had been too scared to be. When he was a freshman. He had heard Lyra's other friends say how she only had eyes for Augustus. This broke his heart, which led to an argument with the older boy the night before he disappeared. Remembering all of this brought a bitter taste to his mouth. A bitter remembrance of his own vileness. He'd cussed his own friend out over a rumor that may not have been true.

As they roasted food over a warm fire under the starry sky. The sound of a snap came from the forest. Odds were it was a wild animal. If they wanted to go by horror movie logic, axe murderer. What appeared instead shocked Fan to his core. Augustus himself was standing before them. Decked out in some kind of wizard outfit and looking higher than a kite. Everyone else seemed to tackle the guy the moment they saw him. Fan wanted to do the same, he really did. Though he couldn't bring himself to. Their argument all those years ago made him feel too ashamed to embrace his oldest friend. When Augustus sat down to spill some tea. Fan was confused on his manner of speech. It was just like a character from one of his fantasy novels. Then everything went black. Awaking in a field with all of his friends surrounding him. Fan took a second to gather his thoughts.

"Hey Asshole, warn us before you do this isekai bullshit" said Fan as he expressed himself quite aggressively

The next time he saw Augustus, he'd shove that stupid pointy hat down that bastard's throat.

Lucius woke up and was as sure as the blueness of sky that the motherfucker just drugged them all. The fuck was this dusk sky? How long were they out until the whole sky changed and... wait. Fuck. Their tents were gone. And the trails. And his fucking motorcycle. Lucius' face changed. He took out his phone and his expression turned ugly.

"Fuck." No service. Not like no internet, but no signal to make a phone call, too. Even the GPS didn't work. Lucius cursed Augustus seven generations up and down before he calmed and observed everyone's reaction. Lyra panicked, but everyone else looked relatively calmed if not just as confused with the situation. That clarity of observation also convinced Lucius that at least they weren't high. He ignored Lyra with James around. That Border Collie could handle her.

"Quit it with the delusion, Paper Tiger." Lucius snorted. Paper tiger, all talk, no action. He couldn't be bothered to entertain Fan right now. Seriously, just because that Augustus put on a wizard hat he was going to believe everything? He turned to the others. "Anyone got signals? Mine's a horse beaten into medicinal paste kind of dead."

He clicked his tongue. "Come on, don't tell me you fucks believe that bastard really get us to another world. Occam's Razor. He probably dragged us some miles off thinking it's a funny joke."

Lucius had done something similar. Leave your wasted friend in some weird ass place with creepy shits and watch them scared out of their pants when they woke up. Without waiting for the others, Lucius grabbed his bag and took off to check their immediate surroundings.

Supernatural was debatable, but magic was fiction. Lucius rejected any idea that said otherwise, thus, he ignored the signs that contradicted it. For instance, the fact that it hadn't even been one hour since they fell unconscious according to his phone. For instance, the fact that he didn't recognise any of the trees around them.

For instance, the moon's disappearance.

"Anti social personality disorder doesn't have to control your life. There are a variety of ways to manage it" The leather couch he is laying down on is as cliche as they come. Though his therapist keeps talking the words seem distant and echoing as his mind tries to wrap around the information. It isn't an easy thing for him. He spent his like staying away from people, and for good reason and know suddenly he knows why. Years of always being a square peg as society is a round whole comes to mind. Years of never quitting fitting in even as his "Childhood friends" try. Years of staring at the bonfire feeling nothing except rage. Years of watching the cackling flames as they joked and laughed.

The fire is beautiful tonight in his eyes. It always is though. It's another year so he goes on this crazy trip because it's what a normal healthy well adjusted person would do. If he plays the role long enough maybe one day it will feel real.

He stares at the fire hearing their conversations in the background, white noise as his focus is internal. I should get a few plant samples while I'm hear it's far away enough from home some of these plants are uncommon locally.

Eventually though his world grows dark as if watching the fire slowly lulled him to sleep.

When he awakens to the new world the first thing he does is put his thumb on his pocket knife and slowly look around.
Wary eyes examining the world around him, looking for danger.

The comforting pressure of James was enough to help Lyra focus back in the here and now, but it did still take her a good minute before she could stand on shaky legs. When had she gotten so weak? Why hadn’t she immediately been worried about her friends, instead she was sucked in on her own feelings. . . Yet, no matter how much she beat herself up internally there was no changing the ripping tides of her emotions. She wanted to cry, and even felt the burn in her eyes from tears wanting to be shed, somehow she held them back.

After a few good deep breaths, and a tight squeeze of James hands she stood without any assistance. She couldn’t see over the tops of the grass, only a few tree tops a good distance away reaching into the endless purple night sky. A couple more deep breaths and she began to take stock of her friends. Emotions varied from each person, Koshi just as shocked as she felt. Hanako was on high alert as usual-she should check her friend, make sure none of her knives had accidentally cut her in whatever transit they took to get there. Fan rightfully angry but at someone that was already gone-had Augustus even been there in the first place? Nina was harder to read, at one point Lyra was certain she could have picked up the girl's emotions, but not there, not now. Donavin ready and wary, another friend easily expecting danger. Finally she looked at Lucius, his words digging deep into her gut, making her question what she really saw and felt.

Yes, this must be one of Augustus’s more devious pranks, his most cruel even. How could he just show up, drug them and leave them confused? Even as the thought crossed her mind she knew how ridiculous that sounded. There had been no chance for him to drug them, let alone drag every single one of them on his own. . . What else could it be? Was Fan right? Were they in a new world, or was that just his imaginations speaking? The panic began to rise again, and hiding it the best she could she wiggled her fingers at James hoping he would grab her hand again, ground her back to Earth-or not Earth.

It took Lyra even more deep breaths to notice something else was wrong; Once she had been standing for a few seconds she realized how off the breeze was; it was sweet, almost sickly sweet, like sugar just on the verge of burning.
“We need-” her voice croaked out and Lyra had to clear it, trying to make it easier to talk. “Is everyone ok? Any injuries?” Her voice was still hoarse, it was like the breeze was making it hard to talk, or was it just her anxiety? Once again she did a head count, making sure everyone who had been there was still there, and it still counted the same. Could she be dreaming still? No! She had already gotten out of that cycle of thinking, it was too real even to be one of her dreams.

After a few more minutes of everyone getting their bearings, and Lyra finding herself emotionally strong enough to move away from James, she stepped closer to where Hanako had gone. Yet, a strange heaviness fell over her body, making every new step harder and harder. It would have taken a truly keen observer to notice the change in the wind, it had almost shifted to a barely visible green hue, and even then it was only for a second, easy to dismiss.

“Mqjjht!”

The strange syllables resounded like an echo all around the group. Lyra found herself turning her head left and right, trying to see where it could have possibly come from. Yet when she commanded her legs to move forward again, her body did not listen. Her weight grew heavier and heavier till her body slid to its knees and then fully down to the ground unable to move.

**Narrator**

While the group had not realized it, they had landed in a new world and slept longer than they thought in a farm field away from a major kingdom’s capital. While they had slept, reports had been filed and the kingdom’s military reacted as if they were spies in their land. They mobilized and waited till the perfect moment- the moment when the cursed storms would blaze through and leave the intruders paralyzed. The storms are unpredictable so they watched and waited through a magicked spyglass till they were sure the effect of the storms would put the others down.

With one of their leading commanders gifted with invisibility he and the rest donned on their suits the moment the green became present and silently moved in on the friends. Once the group of friends were completely immobilized they dropped their invisibility; they were hulking figures, the shortest probably seven feet tall, their faces completely covered by a shifting blue mass that looked like a jellyfish clutching to them; their bodies were covered in tight black suits with wires flowing the same blue as the face going in and out different parts. While the group could not move, they were completely aware of everything around them, they could see and still feel the harsh ground underneath them.

The soldiers continued to talk in their strange language, impossible for the Earth dwellers to understand, and got to work quickly on the friends. They tied them up tight and rough, slapped a strange copper collar runed to stop any magic they may have around all of their necks. They checked and confiscated all weapons, marveling at the strangeness of the metal and finally dragged them onto a waiting cart a ten minute walk away hidden in the trees. The soldiers roughly threw them into the back and didn’t waste any time to start their hour-long trek back to the city. The green storm seemed to pass as quickly as it came, and within five minutes of it being gone the group was able to start moving, the more physically fit first, the others not long after.

Nina Simone Rivera

Nina never stood up. She just kind of sat there while the others were trying to figure out where they were and exactly what happened. Nina had been completely silent, her expression remained startlingly blank, aside from her glossy eyes wide eyes.

She couldn’t believe it. She let herself be abandoned again. She thought- that Augustus was finally coming back to them. She would have been fine, with whatever he was doing, as long as he stayed. But he was nowhere to be found, and it made Nina feel stupid for expecting otherwise. She felt stupid for hoping that he would stay. And she felt stupid because she knew that the moment he showed up again, she would immediately forgive him. It took a minute or so of blank staring for Nina to finally come back down to reality.

What.. should she even do now? She wanted to attempt to comfort her friends but no one looked like they needed any. Besides Lyra- but James was already there. So she would keep her distance. Should she cry? That’s what she would do, right? Their Nina wouldn’t be able to keep it together in a situation like this. They know how hard it is for their Nina to adjust to new places. And maybe they need to feel like they're protecting something while she figures out what she can do to fix this.

Nina’s eyes watered as she looked down and buried her face in her hands, her breaths turning to sniffs and quiet whimpers as tears fell down her cheeks. She honestly used to enjoy crying, it was a way for her to wind down and let everything out after bad things happen. And now she doesn’t really get anything out of it anymore.

Nina was attempting to get up when realized that she couldn’t move her legs. She could barely even feel them. Her gaze turned to genuine panic as her entire body felt like it became heavier. Nina was probably the first to lose movement in her entire body, yet she was aware of everything going on around her. No matter how hard she tried, she couldn’t move. And her fear only doubled once she heard unfamiliar voices talking in a different language. These unnaturally tall people approached her and the others.

Questions zoomed through her head. Was she going to die? Where were they taking her and the others? Why was this happening? Why did Augustus bring them to a place like this? Did he want them to die? It was the longest five minutes of her life, laying in that cart. She refused to look at the others, it was humiliating to actually be this helpless around them. This was real helplessness, not her normal pretend. And it was the worst feeling she could ever imagine.

So when her feeling came back, after everyone else’s, the first thing she did was sit up and pull her knees to her chest, looking at the others with a confused gaze. What were they going to do? Nina would listen, she would do whatever they told her to right now. Just tell her to do something.

Koshi thought for a bit. 'What if this was a prank?' he thought. He dismissed this notion. He had never done drugs in his life and the stars were very CLEARY purple and the moon was very clearly not there. "Oi!" He called out as loudly as he could to get everyone's attention, "I want to say that I'm pretty sure that this is not a prank. I didn't really know the black haired guy,so-" Koshi was suddenly unsure of himself. "Actually, this might be-" This was one of the few times where Koshi wasn't very sure of himself. "Nevermind that! I'm pretty sure this isn't a prank for a few reasons. But to start, if this was a prank, there would probably be some way to go back to the campsite. Like if you were lost. Secondly, my brain feels quite fine, so I wasn't drugged. Unless it's a drug that's hard for my brain to detect..." He was thankful that it wasn't a very big crowd he was addressing.

"What was that guy's name?" Koshi added. "What was he like?" If those two questions were answered, he could peg what they were doing here. Whether it was a hallucination or something else, he didn't know. He noticed that Nina seemed paralyzed and when he tried to move, he couldn't. He was thankful that he was in a position that wasn't uncomfortable. He did hope that his unable to move was only temporary. "Anyone else unable to move?" He called out again, "Or is it just me?"

Or at, least that was the way it happened in his head. When he tried to speak, his mouth was closed as well. He couldn't speak. That could complicate things at the moment. He felt kind of stupid, if he was being honest.

It was a beautiful day many years ago. I was outside, in the sun resting in the shade of a beautiful large oak tree. The grass was smooth underneath me a comfortable carpet. It was a sudden as thunder, but what I actually felt was the absence that comes after thunder. My faith was gone. I don't really know why. The measure of a man's heart and soul is a mystery to all. Just suddenly the touch that had been a source of comfort was just touch. Loved lost like it meant nothing. I meditated a lot on that. Looking inside for something that wasn't there anymore. After my diagnosis I meditated a lot looking for what else is missing inside. Looking inside I found a lot. But never what I was looking for.

Paralyzed and in the back of a cart there is little, or more honestly nothing that he can do.

So he does what he has done a thousand times before.

He meditates, as he did for therapy, he meditates as he did for martial arts, he meditates as he did for his faith.

He looks internally to see what he finds, to control himself and to pass the time when he can do literally nothing.

Lucius couldn't be bothered to listen to whatever the fuck pink hair guy there was saying. So much useless chatter. If he knew the guy would be this annoying, he would have picked someone else to piss off everyone a bit. Further and further he went from their arrival spot before he paused. Nothing looked unusual, but his instinct told him otherwise. He turned to shout, but no voice came out. Like a ragdoll, his body slumped to the ground.

The soldiers appeared out of thin air before Lucius could utter a string of profanities. Threat. Even as Lucius continued trying to move, an alarm rang loudly in his mind. These people were practically giants. The mask covering them was weird. Their leotards were weird. The language... was no language he knew of. Not English, Chinese, Spanish, Arabic, or Tanoan.

A chill ran up his back. Fuck. What if Augustus wasn't talking shit and Paper Tiger wasn't wrong in his weeb-like utterance? The shock froze Lucius temporarily until he was thrown into the cart, at which point he started rebelling violently.

Fuck another world! Even if this was somehow in Heaven, he refused to sit like a packed sardine being carried to Gods know where!

"F-fuck!" Lucius was among the firsts to break free. He pulled himself sitting and glared at the soldiers surrounding him- them. Tear-stricken Nina, the others similarly quiet as mice. Not Lucius, though.

"Dibs on the first punch to that fucking wizard and his ugly pointy hat." He growled before tearing his gaze back off the soldiers. "Least he could do when he kidnapped us is to not immediately sell us to fucking slave traders. Bastards not even a mother can love. [profanity]. [slurs]. Hear that, [even more slurs]?! Puedes entenderme? Nǐ liǎojiě wǒ ma? Fucking hell, at least those trashy japanese light novels give their reincarnators no language problem. Fuck-"

Profanities flowed free like a stream. Unless stopped, Lucius would continue cursing. Despite the anger and hostility in his gestures and voice, Lucius made no attempt to escape. The cold sensation around his neck weighed heavy. He didn't know its purpose. Seeing it clasping around Nina's neck gave him an ominous feeling.

Tied wrists and ankles wouldn't stop him, but he'd be a fucking idiot if he tried to run with a detonating collar or something similar.

Fan sat with his eyes scanning the panicking people around him. Despite having his body freed from whatever effect had taken hold of it. He didn't move much and chose to observe instead. Needless to say the situation was taking its toll on his friends. Lyra and Nina looked like they were having panic attacks. Lucius on the hand was swearing up a storm as if trying to beat their kidnappers into submission with bravado alone. It would have been an admirable move if it didn't do anything but disrupt his focus. So finally he decided to move over to the two upset girls. In contrast to the fierce look of his fellow red head. Fan gave both ladies a smile that radiate pure warmth. Placing his hands on both of their heads. He slowly began to gently pat them. They were all in a tense situation. More than screaming or daring acts of bravery. Everyone needed a reminder that they weren't alone. They were all here together. Continuing to pat Nina and Lyra on their heads. Fan decided to address everyone. "Right now we're in pretty deep. Another world, we don't speak the language and we're likely to be sold into slavery if we don't find a way out. These gentlemen escorting us aren't likely to respect our wishes anytime soon. So we need to gather as much information as we can with what time we have. The language barrier is an issue but it works both ways. Lulu's screeching proved we might as well be speaking gibberish to them. Hana, how confident are you that you can take just one of them on if they can't let off a spell? James, you and Lulu might have to join her if things get to that point. Koshi, I need you to find an angle we can get at with these guys. Even if we can't understand each other. Work that magic of yours and get them to soften up" said Fan as his mind began to put things together. What he had was by no means a plan. Rather it was more like taking stock of variables that would come into play. Taking his hands off of the upset girls and poking their cheeks. Fan leaned back into the side of the cart and asked Donavin to take note of the plantlife.

Koshi was surprised that he could now move and he treated the assignment as he would to his audience in advertising. "Does anyone have paper and pencil so I can draw? Better yet, is anyone a good artist?" Koshi leaned towards Fan, "Everyone will understand pictures and that's why visuals of products come in handy." Koshi whispered. "I should be able to." His confidence and innocent-yet-not vibe coming back. He would probably engage at least one of them, and at the moment, he didn't realize he was being a bit arrogant. He then almost yelled f*ck, then he realized he could write some other way. Although, RIP his fingernails.

On the one hand, he wished that the soldiers could understand and speak English, on the other hand, he didn't. He thought about how he would ask questions and he hoped some idea would come to him. He would start by drawing a planet, then a house, then trees, then something else. His confidence had faltered a bit, but then it went back into place. Why should he care? Koshi started muttering to himself, as he sometimes did when he was planning an advertisement. This happened when he was really thinking of a pitch and it annoyed everybody.

Koshi grew impatient and paper or not, he would find a way to communicate. He tapped on the cart as loudly as he could and then banged it just in case nobody heard him. He then started to scratch the cart so that his pictures would somewhat appear. Every time his fingernails started to break, he would chew them off. His fingers were now bloodied and they hurt a bit.

"So why do you think your disorder scares you so?"

"Are you kidding? It's the serial killer disorder. I don't know how or why really, I just found out I'm broken and in a way always portrayed as a monster, and I don't even understand the way I feel is the only way I've ever known, my rage feels normal"

"Yes, portrayed as, lets explore that Donavin, T.V. and movies are the source of your fear, but you wouldn't be scared of aliens because of alien movies. Your disorder doesn't make you a monster, that is up to your choices. We are after all nothing more than the sum total of our choices, right?"

"So what I just make good choices and suddenly I'm a good person not a monster, is it really that simple?"

"I think it sounds simple but life can make it complicated. However, I am here to answer your questions, so yes. Yes it is that simple in a lot of ways."

"Cool, so then I just promise to live a life without violence in it, should be very easy, the vast majority of people never see actual violence in their lives."

Sorry doc, you were a great therapist but I have to break my promise.

"Okay, everyone. I'm sorry, for everything I never told you all." His eyes linger on Nina's for just a second longer than anyone else as he goes and matches everyone's gaze one at a time.

"I'm not who you think I am, and I wish I you would never see the truth, I was just trying to be a whole person, but well, I was born different and now your going to see that." The others will respond but he will just shake his head. "I don't have time to explain. Just be ready to run." He whispers not so certain their captors don't speak English, after all they knew enough to know where to find them.

The small knife he slipped up his sleeve isn't enough to even the odds with more than a dozen armed and armored men he knows a hopeless fight when he see's one. So after cutting most of the way through his restraints he cuts deeply into palm as he holds his hands up to his mouth sucking the blood into his mouth. He leaves the small Swiss army knife. It won't do him any good and others need to cut their bindings.

A few moments later he rolls off the cart as he clutches his stomach. He forcefully starts coughing and with each cough great globs of bright red blood go flying. The blood is key, a prisoner faking sick is a cliche but the blood is real. It lends enough credibility that one of the guards grabs his shoulder to check on him or drag him back into the cart. Then like a viper he strikes suddenly all speed and violence. His nearly cut bindings rip free in an instant from his adrenaline filled strength. The mans dagger is ripped from his belt and stabbed through his eye. He would have stabbed elsewhere but with the strange suit he can't be certain where he could stab lethally.

Purity
There is a purity to violence born from it's simplicity. Not that combat or survival is a simple thing. Just that it washes away all the other complications in life. As he takes a human life for the first time he feels his anger being satisfied. His rage being met, slavers should die, and this case is so very very personal. With every concern about blending in, about being a good person and about everything else in life suddenly gone. He is free to simply act as best he can. It's primal, it's pure and it's free.

100% of his mind is dedicated to the fight, how many can he kill? He lacks the hesitation other humans do at the act of taking a life, his disorder a curse for 20 years suddenly a blessing. It and surprise are sharp knives to bring to this fight. He is certain numbers, and equipment will win the day though. He is free of every burden that life normally throws at you. It's freeing and somewhere deep in the back of his mind he is terrified that part of him loves it.

The very tall body falls onto him pouring hot red blood onto his hair and shoulders. He draws the sword and throws it towards the cart in a single motion. He is giving his friends every advantage he can. A man is nothing more than the choices he makes after all. The body he shoves into one of the guards and tackles on top of the two of them to bring the man to the ground where the dagger will serve best. He isn't done until the others escape.

Everything happened so fast, and yet so slow. One moment she had closed her eyes into the comforting touch of Fan, memories of similar interactions enough to help sooth her stress; the next moment complete and utter chaos. The newcomer-Koshi- had taken to listening to Fan as well, but Donavin, quiet, polite Donavin had other plans.

The world narrowed in on her friend, his speech just bringing more confusion to the situation. He’s not who she thought he was? Who could he be then? More and more memories were dragged to the surface, the group together, dragging him along some times, other times him coming on his own accord. What could he be talking about? What could he be doing? Lyra had lurched towards him when he cut himself, but restrained there wasn’t anything she could do, too many people were in the way.

The world slowed as he rolled off the cart, as he pulled apart his bindings, and attacked with such lethal grace there was no stopping the blood of the guard to spill. Lyra didn’t realize she had called out, but it was clear it didn’t reach, or matter to her friend as he threw the sword at them. This is when everything sped back up, they had a very short amount of time to free the others who were bound and use Donavin’s sacrifice to save themselves. Lyra had already cut through her own bounds, helping Nina and the others still trapped before she realized what she was doing. She was going to allow Donavin to sacrifice himself to save all of them-for Lucius was right, they were probably about to be sold as slaves, the collars were enough to prove that. Her breath was sharp and ragged, and Lyra froze for a second as the chaos continued, but she couldn’t freeze, no she had to be her strong, self-assured person of her past and take charge.

“Don’t waste his sacrifice.” She ordered her friends, her voice taking on the demanding nature of her old self. “We need to run, we need to survive and we can figure out the rest after. Go!” She shoved Nina lightly first, and then jumped off herself. The guards were focused on Donavin first, but there was plenty to notice when the others began their escape. Lyra didn’t wait, she grabbed Nina’s hand and took off in the first direction she could-the woods.

Yet, her sweaty, nervous hands were not enough and Nina slipped right through, leaving her grasping at empty air. It took Lyra a long moment-too long- to realize she didn’t have her friend there with her. A quick glance behind her was enough to end it all, one moment there was nothing but endless forest, the next a soldier materialized from thin air and brought the butt of his sword down, hard, on her head, sending Lyra heaped to the ground out cold. If she had kept running fast enough she maybe could have made it- but a ‘maybe’ in this strange world was the thin line between making it and not.

Nina Simone Rivera

Nina barely reacted to Fan’s head resting on her head. It’s not that it was appreciated. She was just trying to figure out a non violent way to solve this. It wasn’t in character for her to make plans, but Nina didn’t know how to do that subtly. So she just made sad puppy dog eyes everytime violence was mentioned in the conversation. Surely she could make a up plan while Fan spoke. Nina found herself ignoring the outside world as she brainstormed.

She snapped out of it when she heard a commotion. Seeing a dead guard laying on top of Donavin. It was pretty clear what had happened while she internally laborer. However, Nina wasn’t really afraid of Donavin. Even after he stabbed someone through the eye with a knife. She was more afraid of the fact that she didn’t expect him to do that. Most of her persona depended on knowing how her friends would react to her reactions and the exact course she needed to take for them to do what she needed them to do. For their own good. Nina couldn’t help but watch the corpse fall on top of Donavin and wondered if their chances of resolving this peacefully died with him. She felt guilty for Donavin’s actions. She should have seen this coming and done something to stop it before it happened.

She felt even worse about pretending to be afraid of what he had done to save them all. Of course she disagreed with what he did, but it wasn’t enough to make her fear him. That couldn’t be said for her persona though, and it was a good way to pull back and assess how well she actually knew him, seeing as how he was able to hide an entirely different side of him from her. It bodes poorly, even worse than the murder. Actually the murder does bode worse.

Nina couldn’t pinpoint exactly when Lyra began to pull her away from the cart, or when her body just went along with her but all of a sudden Nina realized she was running away. Nina’s mind raced as she glanced behind her, it didn’t Tia meant soldiers to get Donavin under control and there were plenty still after them. Maybe…

Nina slowed and stopped running, letting her hand slip from Lyra’s grasp. As she came to a stop, Nina felt a breeze of air brush her side, as if someone ran past her, but when she looked there wasn’t anyone there. Nina stiffened when she heard footsteps rapidly approach her from behind, an armored arm grabbed her roughly and dragged her back to the cart, Nina didn’t fight it. Why would she? For some reason these people didn’t kill them on sight, maybe they can be reasoned with? Maybe if she’s good, they can clear up whatever misunderstanding this may be. Nina was pushed into the cart again. She watched Lyra fall to the ground as a person appeared next to her out of thin air. Her expression darkened. They didn’t stand a chance, and now it was going to be so much harder for her to get them all out of this.

She was irresponsible and she should have seen this coming. Now look at the situation they’re in. This was a mess.

Everyone was a fucking idiot but him. Such was the conclusion Lucius arrived to when he first met this group of stupid fucks, but also now. Paper Tiger [Fan] was still as useless as ever. Yeah, great job, genius. Fighting twelve people at once. Oh, even fucking better, drawing. What was this, pictionary? One look at the way these bastards dress and Lucius could tell they were soldiers slash goons. Low level goons don't make commands. What would drawing even do, anyway? Tell them they were aliens? Increase their price tags so they could end in a lab somewhere?

Lucius stared at Koshi's desperate attempt like a paramedic staring at a patient that got an alarm clock stuck in his ass 'by accident'. Yeah, he's definitely still stupid, but he got some mad respect over how crazy the bastard was. Drawing with blood. Hardcore.

Then, there was Donavin. His first thought was that he couldn't believe the fucking squirrel Donovan was a closet weeb. Then, the knife dropped.

Lucius' expression shifted. He stumbled forward, curses flowing, as he hid Lyra and the knife from view.

"Fuck you, Squirrel. Fucking say what your are planning before you do shit like this." He was pissed. Running attempts always brought suffering if they failed. Worst of all, he didn't trust Donovan to be able to do shit properly- "holy hell."

The scream. Everyone turned for it, and Lucius wasted no time. He grabbed the sword Donavin threw aboard and cut the bondage of his ankles off. The sword was heavy, much heavier than the baseball bat and pipe he used to wield, but beggars couldn't be choosers.

"Fuck off, bastards!" Lucius swung the sword against an unprepared guard with a vicious expression. He wasn't against fighting others, and whether he had or hadn't taken someone's life before was a matter of debate. At this point, there was no point in worrying about exploding collars or whatever. With how the situation had devolved, he had to run.

Lucius kicked off the carriage. He ran past Donavin. They had injured the guards. If they were recaptured, their fate wouldn't be pretty. Without waiting for anyone, Lucius disappeared into the forest.

Koshi had no idea what was going on and what everyone was doing. He was still squatting and he got up as slowly as he thought was humanly possible. Apparently, there was a fight going on. People had started to cut themselves free and he did the same thing, although, his wrists hurt badly and he was bleeding from his limbs.

Koshi went back down slowly, taking off his glasses and setting them back down. If he was smart, he would've hopped out of the cart. Yeah he would've broken this leg, but, he would've escaped. There were two things stopping him from leaving everyone to die. One, they were soldiers and he would get hunted down pretty quickly. Two, he might've been a dumbass of the highest sense of self preservation, but he had a conscience. He didn't know why nobody else had thought to do this and if it was his bad, he'd volunteer to get mangled first.

Based on loud cursing coming from Lucius, if he didn't die by execution, he'd die by murder. He was thinking to put his hands up in the air before stopping again. What if they got killed right here, right now? He saw Lucius run from the cart, good for him. Although, if he was caught, it wouldn't be pretty.

Koshi steeled himself and stepped forward, finally deciding to put his hands up. He couldn't fight to save his life and he couldn't run, either. He just hoped he wouldn't die just yet. He was pretty sure Lyra and Nina thought he was stupid. It may seem like he was putting himself in danger, but really, he wasn't. He was trying to go as quickly and painlessly as possible or maybe the guy would turn him into a servant or something if he was a bit lucky. Not very lucky, mind you, but a little bit.

He let himself be sit back down, and he quickly put on his glasses. He was bound tighter this time and he accepted his fate.

Fan didn't expect things to go so wrong. Sure he didn't have a solid plan. However anything he could have been able to brainstorm should have been much better than the absolute clusterfuck going down. Donavin had flipped out and started slicing people. Lucius had outright abandoned them. Nina and Koshi just gave up without even trying anything. This was the worst case scenario. Unlike Augustus, they hadn't manifested any magical powers. There were more of their captors and less hesitation on their end to kill if necessary. Unable to think of anything to make the situation any better. Fan could only lament the fact that everyone would have listened if Augustus had been the one talking. Although they were all friends, nobody ever expected much from Fan. He was really was just a Paper Tiger like Lucius had said. His self-loathing was interrupted when he caught sight of Lyra being apprehended.

Feeling heat in his body and his heart beginning to race. Fan leapt off of the cart and scooped up a dropped sword. It was awkward in his hands. This wasn't the first time Fan had held a blade. During his time with the circus. He had gotten close with the Sword-Swallower. She had taught him a few moves over drinks one night. Adjusting his stance and gripping the handle tightly. Fan did his best to ward the armed men away from Lyra. Hearing footsteps behind him. He narrowly deflected a glancing blow. Forcing himself to regain his footing. Fan slammed the butt of his sword into another attackers head. Breathing heavily while checking on the status of Lyra. He saw she was still out cold. Bringing his blade up to block an overhead strike. Fan was nearly brought to his knees. While he was honestly handling this a lot better than he should have. His luck was bound to run out soon. "I'm not giving up..." whispered the redheaded youth. Finding his second wind. Fan pushed his attacker back before picking up Lyra. Attempting to run for it with the unconscious girl in his hold. Fan felt an impact hit his back with enough force to push the wind from his lungs. Barely clinging to Lyra and with his view darkening. The sight of a raging blue rapids filled his fleeting gaze. He felt the chilling sensation of freezing cold water hitting his face...

Donavin see's only one escape. He knows that, that's probably it. He could keep fighting but most of the others don't even seem capable of making an effort to escape anymore.

He can't kill them all. He knows that, one was ambush, two was momentum, three is skill, four isn't happening.

As cuts the neck of the second man he makes his choice, drawing the sword, and running into the woods. They may chase him but hopefully they are busy with the injured and dead. Besides he has spent years in the woods, he trusts that he can outrun them in rough terrain.

The guards were in absolute chaos, yelling in the strange language could be heard resounding around the ones still there. Quickly it seemed orders were sent out. The largest guard with bulging muscles showing through his clothes climbed up into the cart and tied the two in there back to back in knots that would hurt, but be impossible to break through. He didn’t get down, instead he stood in the back clearly on high alert as the cart lurched forward and continued on. Three guards in total-including muscle man- went with the cart, their spears pointing directly at the two in the back. Three went after the boy who started it all and one disappeared as he tried to follow in the path that the first escapee took; it seemed they thought the two in the rapids were dead and long gone. Even with the masks on the glares from the guards could be felt, the tension almost rippled in the air as they finished the long walk in silence.

Shortly after clearing the woods a city with daunting walls could be seen built up on a hill in the distance; but the most breathtaking view was what had been hidden by the woods. Two pearlescent moons had begun to rise on the horizon, the purple night sky fading to a soft pink, the start of a soft day light cutting through the darkness. The path up the hill was steep, with different guard posts stationed in strategic lookout spots, but no one stopped them. Two large gates, one after the other parted for the cart and the city came into view.

A large castle rose up at the very rear, only visible due to its size and height. The buildings were made of stones clearly cared for, but old, ancient even. Only a few people milled about, either starting their days or swaying off home drunk, all of them stopped and stared at the guards and their prisoners, not daring to come closer. For the most part the citizens looked normal, human even, but every so often a face and body covered in hair, or scales, large pointed ears and more could be picked out in the growing crowds. The wheels clicked an eerie sound on the cobblestone ground, the only noise other than the soft breeze hitting wind chimes here and there. Growing closer and closer to the castle the cart climbed up a little incline to just stop outside the steps to the main doors.

Here there were guards stationed everywhere, all wearing similar uniforms in the colors of white and gold, no masks covering their faces. Quick conversation was had between the rest of the guards and the ones waiting. Roughly the large guard easily lifted the two captors by their ropes with one hand, their bodies dangling above the ground. As he ascended the steps every so often he would allow them to drop down and bounce off a step here or there, clearly for his own enjoyment not because he couldn’t handle the weight.

Inside the castle was beautiful, but in a soft gentle way. The ground was a cool marble like texture that spread up the walls, golden swirls danced like liquid here and there. No art could be seen, but the space was decorated with different kinds of white and gold flowers; there were some walls covered in flowers, some large vases filled any bare areas, and all the lighting seemed to glow overhead from inside large bouquets.

The guard did not give them much time to gawk and look, instead he continued their quick speed straight through the long entryway to large doors just below double stairs. The doors opened with no help from anyone, showcasing a large throne room. There were no chairs or seats other than a single one placed up on a large platform needing three steps to get to. The chair was smaller, a beautiful white wood that seemed to glow in the large windows to it’s back; even here the only decorations were white and gold flowers.

Koshi and Nina were thrown to the ground, the guard still standing above them, his arms crossed but at attention. The captured two were left waiting and wondering for a few minutes before two doors opened on each side of the long platform, a large quantity of guards spilling out, at the very center of them walked a younger boy, early teens at least, soft and pale in complexion, carrying a lamb; next to the boy stood two other men obviously not guards, both wearing golden circlet that seemed to be implanted into their heads, and long robes made in gold fabric.

The boy sat in the chair, the two other men stood just behind his chair, close enough to talk if need be, and the guards all took different stations around the room. The boy stared at them with his golden eyes as he ran his hand down the length of the lamb, his white hair falling over his one eye. He shifted slightly in his chair, and stared at them longer before he finally spoke.

“Gasd sqt uxy lxobfatqt?” His voice was soft, gentle and melodic even in the strange guttural language. Even as the words left his mouth he shook his head and looked down at his lamb.

“No, no of course they don’t speak our language I’ve been told as much.” The words seemed strange on his tongue, he stumbled over them a little, but seemed to pick it up fast.

Finally he looked back at the two again, “I am Mezterus king of Polis, the land you have found yourself in. Do you care to explain why you have stumbled into my land, killed my guar
ds and why I shouldn’t just kill you here and now?”

Nina wasn’t okay, but she was getting through it at the moment. Even when ropes were roughly tied around her. She could push through it because this is how she can repent for what her friend did. She tried to remind herself that Donavin had killed their comrades minutes before. Their anger was justified. She deserved this. Nina’s expression resembled one of a kicked dog, but she refused to look up. She had to concentrate on not crying, she didn’t want to cry in front of these guards. Or anyone in general, not when she was genuinely upset.

By the time they arrived at the kingdom Nina’s feet felt like they were bleeding. She was angry, but she didn’t know who to be angry at. Donavan? Should she be angry at him for making the guards more enraged at the two of them? He was trying to save his friends and she chose not to run. She didn’t feel right blaming him. She had to blame herself. But she had no way of expressing that. At Least if she was angry she could glare at them or inconvenience them in a minor and subtle way. But there wasn’t anything she could do with anger that was directed towards herself.

Nina glanced up from the ground at the breathtaking sight before her. Normally, she would be in awe of a place like this. Curious and in wonder of this new world around her. But at the moment it almost made her cry. This was real and this wasn’t earth. She had no way to go home, she missed her grandmother and her brother. She might not ever see them again, and they might not know what happened to her.

Nina trudged through the gate of the kingdom and into the city itself, looking humiliated as the people stopped to watch them be taken in. She tried not to shake or stumble, but she was horrified. They should have killed her, she would have rather died than go through this. Nina squeezed her eyes shut, trying to prevent her brain from getting completely overwhelmed. Even if it was for just a few more minutes.

Nina let herself be dragged through the place with no fuss and thrown on the ground in the room, she didn’t get up for awhile. She just laid there, shifting her position to where she tightly curled into a ball. She didn’t say anything, she just silently cried and tried to steady her breathing. This was too much for her, her friends were swept away by some water, Augustus had forcefully dragged them to this place where she ended up in this situation. It was too much for her. She couldn’t keep up with everything going on. She just wanted to shut off her brain and stop existing. Her entire body hurt and she could barely breathe from how panicked she was. Though all someone nearby could hear was her irregular breathing and quiet gasps for air as she tried to pull herself together.

Nina slowly sat up after a few minutes right before the King entered the room and rubbed her face. She glanced at Koshi. She had to get the both of them out of this situation. She would have given up if she was alone, but she wasn’t. And Koshi was depending on her, even if he didn’t know it. Nina looked at the king as he entered the room, her expression looking slightly surprised by how young he appeared to be. Though, she was well aware of how strange this world was. He could be thousands of years old and still appear to be young. That’s the impression he gave when he spoke to them. Able to pick up their language within moments.

Nina didn’t know what to say at first, she was scared and her head was spinning. She didn’t think the King would believe the truth. She debated on lying, trying to create something more reasonable for them to believe but.. she didn’t know anything about these people. Anything she made up wouldn’t be convincing to them.

“I don’t know how we got here, I think our friend brought us here with magic and when we woke up he was gone. Then the guards came and took us.” She spoke. She sounded like she was already given up on living, and to be honest, she did. There was no way they would be believed. “My friend attacked them without any warning to the rest of us besides some vague words. We were all scared, and I guess he was trying to save us?” She added, sounding unsure about his motives.

“You can kill me if you want to, I can take responsibility for what he did.” She added earnestly. That’s why she stopped running in the first place. She wanted to play martyr and here she was. This is what she wanted, right? To die bravely… or something? It all felt so meaningless to her now that she was here. She didn’t want to die. Nina shut her mouth, it wasn’t really her choice if they killed her or not. She was basically at their mercy. She had no reason to be talking right now, she should have just answered the question, now she’s appeared arrogant to them.
