Fantasy Non-Romantic (plots inside)

The reason I don't do romantic roleplays is simple: the characters' development is too easily swept under the rug of True Love™, Hot Sex, Domestic Life and Fat Babies.

As a reader and a writer I find stories that explore dark paths within the characters and their situations to be much more emotionally rewarding than the explosion of fluff that is so commonly attributed to a "healthy" relationship within the media; a character must be happy in a relationship only if their partner is affectionate/understanding/attentive, rather than utilizing the hardship they went through together, common enemies, or life experiences. A character doesn't necessarily have to have a "tortured" side to them to achieve this, either. Bad things happen to good people, after all.

Even if you don't share the same judgments about storytelling, I'm hoping to find someone willing to give a platonic 1x1 a try. Our characters don't have to hate each other, but they shouldn't be too close. We should be meeting each other face-to-face for the first time. It's possible we could have heard things about this person prior--good or bad, but the objective is to form our own opinions.

Here is what I'm looking for in a roleplay partner:
  • Posts at least once a day.
  • Substance over style. I prefer my partner to write what comes naturally to them, rather than worry over flowery prose. Make sure your post has value to the plot.
  • With that, I don't really have a word limit or paragraph count. Overall, I want our posts to match in length.
  • Most importantly, gives their own input and tells me if a certain situation could be handled differently. I love receiving criticism and suggestions when I write.

Here is what I bring to the table:
  • I am able to post multiple times a day.
  • I inform my partners of any developments or obligations that affect my ability to post.
  • I will always deliver my best.
  • I write simply, I express emotions more in what my characters say or do, rather than their expressions or internal thoughts.
  • I am very realistic when it comes to realistic/modern genres and historical settings, but I take creative liberties too.
Her are a few ideas I've had in mind, and plots I've done before with varying degrees of success:

Character A = me
Character B = you

Breaking and Entering
Character A is a thief who has planned a strategy to steal a priceless relic from the Royal Family of their kingdom. However, that night, their plan is thwarted by Character B, a soldier of the guard who saw them enter the castle. In order to keep the soldier quiet, the thief decides to split their earnings 50/50. They must work together to steal the relic.

Alternatively the thief is caught and convinces the soldier to break them out of prison for half of the earnings. The castle has very tough security--giving themselves away will have them both executed.

The Escort
Character A is a wealthy prince(ess) who must travel to the next kingdom to be wed. However, bandits and beasts roam the lands, making it dangerous for a noble to be out by themselves. Character B, an esteemed warrior, is enlisted to escort the prince(ess) with their knights for a handsome reward.

Twists include the prince(ess) is thoroughly uncooperative or spoiled and doesn't want to be married, or the prince(ess) and the warrior are separated from their group and must survive long enough to find their way to their destination.

Red Tape
A bizarre murder is committed in a small town. Character B, a seasoned FBI agent in the Violent Crimes Unit, is partnered with Character A, an agent who works in a forensic science lab, who has never had experience in the field, but is keenly intelligent. They must conduct interviews, find clues, and essentially "solve the case".

There are a lot of things to pay attention to here. I have done a lot of research about how both local police and the FBI solve crimes, and it's nothing like what the media portrays it to be. We only wish an entire case could be condensed into a 45-minute episode, because it's a messy process that evokes lots of tension and headache for everyone involved. The USA's criminal justice system is full of issues most TV shows haven't even touched on: the "CSI effect" coming to mind.

For that reason, I am taking considerable creative liberties with the plot, but there will still be plenty of obstacles for our characters. Perhaps they are taken off the case, perhaps they butt heads with the local police over their jurisdiction, or perhaps it turns out like most American cop shows where the main characters break/bend rules and start to piss off the bureaucracy. Or maybe the town isn't as friendly as it seems on the surface. The killer, still on the loose, may come after one of us. In any case, this will be more complex than the other two plots.

Have another situation in mind? Please let me know, I'm always willing to listen to an idea. Here are also my preferred genres:
  • Fantasy
  • Realistic/Modern
  • Historical
  • Nautical (pirates, Navy, cruise, etc. Set in the ocean)
  • Post-apocalyptic/isolation/survival
  • Fandoms: Legend of Zelda and Pokemon. No exceptions.
  • Willing to try a hospital setting, but with someone knowledgeable.
Things I especially won't do are:
  • School
  • Space
  • Anime/TV Shows/Movies
  • Zombies
  • Anything mental illness related.
I am willing to do MxF, FxF, and MxM. I enjoy playing both male and female characters.

Communication is very important to me. If you want out, I won't be at all offended if you tell me before dropping out. I don't roleplay with people who don't show me respect. But if you want in, please post here and we can discuss the deals through PM. I also have a Discord if you would rather roleplay there.

Thank you! I also, for the most part, don't participate in romantic roleplays here. I value quality of a story and characters over fluff, and prefer a roleplay that isn't a cardboard cutout. I have several characters that I would like to roleplay with, if you'd be interested in chatting over PM. I am usually pretty good about posting at least once a day, and I try to be a descriptive writer and add to the plot.

I have an idea for a low fantasy kind of dark themed rp, that does not necessarily need romance, meaning my original intention was to see if it develops through the rp, but if you prefer without, that´s totally suitable as well. Pm me if interested please
