Notes for applications:

This world has no hybrids in the traditional sense. The child is always the race of one parent. However, individuals who have parents of different races can inherit, awaken or even learn racial traits from the parent of the different species.

It would be ideal to not play any major or actual gods. However, something a bit more low tier on the god hierarchy such as a god based on the Japanese concept of eight million gods or some other variant of low-tier, village/town-range god is permitted.

If a race is established as or implied to be a one-of-a-kind beast in mythology (such as the Lycian Chimera or the Kerberos), it will not be a playable race. If you got doubts on your choice of race, try dropping a question in the thread or via PM.

If your character is from the Cult of Kagutsuchi, indicate so in your application's History Section's second paragraph. I am limiting the number of players who can be from the Cult to four.

You are allowed multiple characters, up to three in fact. However, these characters must be affiliated in some form as allies. This is due to certain gameplay mechanics I am implementing into this Roleplay.

History:

Kaoru was born in the city of Ibusuki in 1939 to Misao Ikeda. She never knew who her father was. At the age of 18, she helped out her mother in her work, as the proprietor of a bookshop.

When she was 15, she began to awaken her dragonic traits, which scared her. However, upon going through the books about myths in the bookshop, she became aware of her heritage as the daughter of a dragon. She slowly began gaining more control over her abilities and grew more powerful. As she searched for more information from Onmyoji and other people involved in the supernatural, she found out that her father was Ryuma ,who had been the guardian of Lake Ikeda for centuries.

However, a few years ago, Ryuma had been attacked by an evil dragon, Ryuukage. Ryuma managed to defeat him and chase him away, but at the cost of his life, and Ryuukage managed to steal Ryuma's hoard of treasure before fleeing. As she was searching for information about her father, Ryuukage found about her. He attacked Kaori, who barely managed to escape with her life. Ryuukage then took over Lake Ikeda, and began to flood the surrounding areas. Other Onmyoji managed to keep him at bay, but no one could defeat him. She soon fought him again, and this time she managed to kill him. She then took over her father's role as the protector of Lake Ikeda. She then came to be known as Katsumi, the victorious princess.

However, she was sighted by an ordinary human, and a legend grew of a monster named Issie. This was not a nickname she was fond of. She has tried to spread the word and get people to call her by chosen dragon name, but this has failed. Over the years, so as not to attract the suspicions of the townsfolk, she has pretended to be different generations of the Ikeda family. Throughout all those years, she has never given up her petition to change the name from Issie to Katsumi.

After her defeat of Ryuukage, many have come to her for help, and she has always acquiesced. She has protected the Lake Ikeda for decades now. She has also gained a reputation as a wise and protective spirit among the supernatural community. However, her constant interference in human affairs is something that is considered strange among other dragons.She has searched over the years, but she has not managed to regain the treasure hoard.

Over the past year, she had been hearing talk about the Cult of Kagutsuchi. An adventurer had come to her for advice about the 8 pieces of Kagutsuchi , and she had told him what he knew. However, after not hearing from him after a few months and not finding out anything from the ones who visited her, she decided to go after him.

Personality:

She is a bookworm. Her main hobby is reading, since she spends most of her time alone in the depths of the lake or in the bookshop. She is friendly and always ready to lend a helping hand to any passing hero. She has a dislike of the name, Issie, since the other dragons have used it to mock her on occasion. She prefers to be in solitude.

Description:
Tamae is about 1.75 metres tall and possesses three tails that are difficult to hide.

History:
Tamae, alongside her younger sister Kyouka, were born from the Qilin Hakutaku and the Kyuubi mother Kisaragi, many years apart, really. The two races, while never really at war, were not races that saw eye to eye, with Qilin being protectors of the pure-hearted and the Kitsunetsuki being known as deviants, tricksters and even manipulators. As such, they were in a condition where the family had to inhabit a place where neither race is too abundant - a small rural human-inhabited area that fluorished in a matter of a century, their mere presence and everyday life creating a culture that respected the qilin and the fox as equals and guardian spirits.

Huh? This part is smudged. It seems very important, though.

Personality:
Ever since birth, Tamae was always the shy, bashful one, even after gaining quite the size. She is one who constantly apologizes, even after one tells her not to. She is one who prefers to turn to help than doing things on her own, but fears that she cannot return the favour properly, hence will not offer to help back, but will help if others count on her.

Skills:
Tamae possesses great agility, speed and jumping, partially from training and partially from her own physiology. She has skill in hand-to-hand combat that she integrates with her magical capabilities, using every dexterous body part to its fullest.

Equipment & Weaponry:
Tamae possesses no weaponry to speak of.

Magic:
Tamae's currently-depicted form is her human form. Her primary form is a black-furred fox with three tails and stylistic white markings around her body. She is the same size as an actual adult fox. In addition to assuming a human form, she can assume of other items, be they living or inanimate. She will be unversed in any newfound power she might assume, and thus be at a disadvantage if she attempts a ditto battle.

Tamae possesses levitation.

Tamae's magical nature grants her a great degree of enhanced strength that she can activate and deactivate.

Tamae is able to channel 'black elements' which possesses a dark element to it. These are black foxfire, black blizzard and black lightning. While they are all dark element in nature, they possess the exact same properties as their more natural counterparts, with burn effects, freeze effects and stun effects alike.

Tamae can utilise a spell that is universally referred to the magic community as 'Nosferatu'. This allows her to gain health by sucking away at others through a type of beam-based attack or contact for close range.

Description: Being a skin-walker, the actual appearance is difficult to tell except for a lumbering humanoid shadow hidden beneath the skins and pelts of many creatures, some human, some not. Underneath it all, however, he is, in fact, only human.
History: Yaloo was born within the Americas and was ported over to the Orient with his parents for reasons they did not quite specify from the young age of five. China, Mongolia, Japan, Indonesia -- he moved to various locations with his parents before finally deciding on his own on the quaint island nation of Japan, where he seemed to commonly run into others of his own kind: the freak kind. His knack for finding out things worked well with his unique skills of wearing different shapes, and he made a handsome living as a private investigator, getting the scoop on some of the more notorious individuals in the country without having his face found out. It worked well until recently, and he ducked into hiding, using the funds he had to live elsewhere as a different person. The resurgence of this cult intrigued him, however, and he unraveled the mask he hid behind to meet up with those who opposed this odd religious gathering to suit his own interests.
Personality: Conniving, desirous, and prone to ennui unless otherwise piqued, Yaloo likes to be sneaky and learn more about everyone and everything, sometimes against his better judgement but always with grace. He has many loves and few dislikes, but an overt interest in others is his greatest flaw. He has a fondness of eating, but for some reason does not seem to gain weight.

Description:
Kyouka is about 1.45 metres tall and is rather dainty. She has cervine-like antlers at the top of her head and a tail remniscent of that of a dragon's and certain equine species.

History:

Personality:
Kyouka is cheeky and playful, enjoying a good prank or joke from time to time, hardly ever running out of fuel. She is the type to assert herself in scenarios in condescending, mocking ways. She finds herself difficult to break, constantly persisting on counterarguments even when there is no need to, a hinge on pride, if one may.

Skills:
Kyouka is primarily a melee fighter, using either the dexterity and agility of her human form to deal a great deal of hits, or using her true form's hulking size to charge at others. She is not too skilled in her recently-acquired swordsmanship, so she combines it with spells to make it work.

She possesses natural enhanced strength, which seems to be concentrated on her lower legs.

Equipment & Weaponry:
She wields a great odachi comprised of an alloy of Qilin horn, Qilin scales and Qilin hair, passed down from Qilin to Qilin, father to daughter. This blade is known as the Akugiri. The edge can slice through a wide range of physical items, making quick work of even steel, though magic enhancements can impede the process, while the blunt back can break magical constructs such as magic projectiles or magic barriers, cleaving through them, though physical items will slow it down all the same.

Magic:
Kyouka's current form is her human form, which Qilin do not naturally learn and have to be taught by others who know it either as a racial trait or as one who is taught. There are no other forms she can assume aside from these two forms. Her Qilin form is rather large, where even in her quadrapedal pose, her height from ground-up is a whopping 4 metres, exceeding even the biggest horse.

Other traits of her natural Qilin magic include levitation, as well as the ability to walk on water and clouds. Qilin in general can sense the emotions of others.

Kyouka has vast healing properties, able to rejuvenate allies and bless them with different kinds of temporary protection spells. She can dispel negative ailments as well.

She has a spell that the more global magic community might recognise as 'Nosferatu Zwei', a version of the original Nosferatu spell that heals the user only at a quarter of the rate of the original, but also quickly drains the target of their buffs. Nosferatu Zwei can also selectively drain ailments.

She can transfer her ailments to others, and even split them into weaker versions to transfer to multiple others.

She is capable of creating short-term protection spells that fully negate attacks, but she prefers her 'filter barriers' that last longer, as one might call them, which weakens attacks that pass through them.

  Haruna is born to a line of demon hunters that slays the supernatural that causes harm to both humans and friendlier supernatural beings alike. She was trained in the ways of magic and sword at a young age and continues to practice it up until now. However, Haruna has something that she wanted since the start of her training; a perfectly normal life. Taking up hunting duties is very taxing on her time to be a regular person. While she may have excelled greater than her peers, the stress from slaying demons takes a large toll on her social life. She never got to make many friends, but she got made into a friend during one of her hunts. The first person to be friends with her is a barista who knows martial arts and the second is a fellow student cursed into a demon.
  
  One day, an assignment was given to the trio; find out the activity of the Cult of Kagutsuchi and stop them.
  
  Personality
  Haruna is a friendly and kind girl, but she is an introvert. Her life being a demon hunter hindered her ability to socialize and will only talk if someone talks to her first. She is also not fond of sudden interruptions during certain conversation and whenever she wanted to say something, she would usually tell her friend to say what she intends to say. However, Haruna is good-willed. She is willing to do whatever it takes to protect the people she cares about and is shown to be very ruthless in fighting the supernatural.
  
  Skills
  Her swordplay is her greatest strength. The Oda family's signature sword art is unique in that it has "sub-styles" that can easily turn the tides of battle. They are known as Flows, and each Flow can invoke the quality of an element that mimics the property of said element with each move.
  
  Flow of Water focuses on swift and graceful movements and is the most easiest and go-to style to start off.
  
  Flow of Fire is oriented in delivering combo-based executive attacks.
  
  Flow of Lightning is more on very fast charging attacks that brings pressure to the opponent.
  
  Flow of Wind is based on the art of Iaijutsu, or the art of quick draw, and is focused on extending the range of the attacks making it the only style that is oriented to zoning.
  
  Flow of Earth leans on countering and parrying while never moving away from the position, making it the only defense-oriented style.
  
  Aside from the sword style, Haruna's other skills include being an athletic sprinter, swimmer, and high jumper, and being knowledgeable with the supernatural beings.
  
  Equipment & Weaponry
  The family heirloom and the weapon that defines the nature of the Oda family as demon hunters, the Totsuka Sword, originally wielded by the god Susanoo. This sword is perfectly capable of slaying supernatural beings such as how the original wielder slayed Yamata-no-Orochi. This sword has been bathe in the blood of many demons so much as it can have the potential of "making an immortal bleed". The end of its handle is bind by a long chain, allowing her to extend the range of her attacks.

  Anna was born to an American father and a Japanese mother. Her parents owned and run a bar that has been a frequent target for supernatural events that only happens at night. When she was young, Anna was fascinated by martial arts films. She liked the high impact violence and well-executed choreography of which she begins to emulate. Later on, she takes lessons online and partakes on underground fights to test her skill. Eventually, during one of her fights, she unconsciously taps in a hidden strength that left her opponent severely crippled. She doesn't understand why or how did she got such strength. She confronted her parents, not mentioning her recent fight as it might cause trouble, and learned that her mother is one-half ogre. She was initially shocked, but her father reassures her that her strength is just only a gift that can be used rightfully and properly.
  
  One night, Anna was preparing to close the bar when a teenage girl entered. She was looking for a rogue yokai and when asked, Anna scoffs it off, only for the said yokai to suddenly appear. The teenage girl was ready to fight, but Anna immediately attacks, only for her to get overpowered. Luckily, the teenage girl quickly kills the yokai before it could finish Anna off. When she asked for her name, the teenager calls herself "Haruna" before leaving the bar. Since then, Anna grew to respect her, eventually making Haruna her friend.
  
  Personality
  Anna has two things that she admires: a good drink and a good fight. At day, she is a hard-working girl, sometimes showing off her barista skills to woo her customers. She is very devoted to her job and is motivated by the need of customers' satisfaction and money. At night, she partakes on underground fights. A fighter full of honor and pride, can be self-centered at times, and will do no matter how it takes to attain victory. She will breakdown if she ever experience a loss, which she hasn't experienced at all since her debut. Outside of both worlds, Anna can come off as an energetic optimist with a very hot-blooded side.
  
  Skills
  Ever since she was young, Anna first emulated the techniques from watching martial arts films. As time passes, she takes martial arts seriously. As a result, Anna has learned about a dozen or so techniques, styles, and philosophies. Aside from that, other than also having inner ogre strength, she also has an extensive knowledge of drinks since she is a barista.

  Mayumi is just an ordinary girl when tragedy befell on her. One night, flesh-eating demons entered her home, killing and eating her parents. Mayumi was attacked and fatally wounded by one of the demons until she was saved by a demon hunter. Just before she could thank her savior, she loses consciousness. She wakes up in a hospital, the charges answered by the demon hunter. A few weeks later, Mayumi was discharged and having no place to go, she was taken in by the demon hunter. Mayumi begins to grow a strange appetite she tries to resist. It begins to show one day when she eats a live bird and the demon hunter, Haruna, bears witness to it.
  
  She realized that while slaying the demons at Mayumi's home, the blood of the demons got into her wound, which then proceeds to blend in with her own, turning her into a human cursed with demon blood. Mayumi was horrified, but Haruna assures to her that she will find a way to cure her before the curse overwhelms her.
  
  Personality
  Mayumi is a frail and shy girl. She was originally soft-spoken, but after the incident, she is rendered mute. However, that did not stop her from being the nice girl she is. Due to having cursed with the demon blood running in her veins, a scent of blood or the sight of violence can trigger her into becoming a wild and vicious demon only suppressed by her will to only limit her cravings on demon flesh and not harm any human or friendly supernatural being. She may have affection towards Haruna.
  
  Her demon form is characterized by having sharp claws and teeth, crimson eyes, and numerous veins popping out as if she is angry.
  
  Skills
  While her human side has no such skills other than being a fast runner and knows signs language, her demon side incorporates a savage fighting style that makes great use of her strength, speed, and instincts.

  She fights with her sharp claws and teeth in her demon form.

  The demon blood that runs in her grants her numerous abilities such as rapid regeneration, limb expansion and extension, produce electricity, and create and manipulate flames.

History: Junko comes from a large family of farmers out in the Kansai region; hearty, down-to-earth folk that always thought her a bit queer and flighty. Growing up, the kids at school made fun of her for her insistence that she was a princess and, of course, her strange habit of speaking to her pet frogs. But could one really blame Junko, considering the frogs talked back? She had met them in the fields outside her house when she was a child, a pair of ancient demon-toads who explained that she was both the reincarnation and direct blood descendant of the legendary Takiyasha-Hime, destined ruler of the youkai and one-day empress of Japan. Of course, someday-empress isn't quite something to put on one's resume, so until the day of reckoning arrives Junko works part-time at the 7/11 to pay her rent.

Personality: In spite or perhaps because of her origins out in the sticks, Junko enjoys putting on airs and doing her best to act in accordance with her role of demon princess and future empress of Japan. Unfortunately, she's ultimately still a naive hick at heart and has a hard time staying in character when faced with unfamiliar city-slicker phenomena such as roombas and shopping malls. Junko is, in short, kind of a tremendous fucking dork.

Skills: Strong negotiator, capable of identifying most wild plants, stamina that would put a mule to shame, has memorized the price of every existing cigarette brand, can restock an entire aisle in under five minutes

Equipment & Weaponry: A stun-gun and a boxcutter, wallet, cellphone, etc.

Magic: As Takiyasha-Hime's successor, Junko possesses natural dominion over all forms of youkai and great skill in conjuring them. Unfortunately, dominion does not necessarily equal cooperation; many of her so-called subjects are unwilling to help unless bribed appropriately, and Junko as of yet lacks the strength to truly compel them against their wishes. She is particularly skilled in the conjuring of swamp and marsh-related youkai, who are often more willing to hear her out. She can also speak to mundane frogs and toads.

Familiars: Numa-Bou and Sawa-Bou, Junko's most loyal retainers. A pair of demon frogs whose origins stem back to the original Takiyasha-Hime, they possess great knowledge of sorcery. They commonly perch on Junko's shoulders when she's working or hide within her purse otherwise. They are both natural bootlickers.

History: Born to a single mother, Laura, then Ranko Sakura, was raised in a rather unhealthy environment. Her mother works part-time as prostitute when Ranko was very young, which she'd later describe as “having men doing scary things to her body,” although eventually her mother get over it and decided to be a freelancer. Though her mother never have a steady job to support her, Ranko still consider those times “enjoyable” as her mother would pour a lot of her attention toward the still young Ranko.

Then, several days after Ranko's seventh birthday, her mother never came home. The next day, someone who claimed to be her father picked her up and brought her to Germany, where she was raised in a rich, noble lifestyle. Ranko, then having her named changed to Laura by her father, heard from her father that her mother was actually a demon hunter, much to his despise, and that she was killed during one of her hunt by her comrade who betrayed her. It was a heart-breaking moment for Laura, but essentially an important one as it would form her entire purpose of life. Secretly, Laura practiced powerful magic with the help of her family's butlers and maids. While her father allowed her to learn some magic, he only allows the weaker spells used for self-defence and forbid her from stronger techniques used by other demon hunter. Eventually, however, her father found out about her secret training, and gave her two choices on the matter: either to stay in the house and discard all of her advanced practices, or to be sent back to Japan, where she would live by herself. She choose the latter. It also happens that she had just finished her middle school back then.

So Laura decided to live in Kyoto, where she made a name out of herself among the supernatural community as the Flame Queen due to her upbringing and her powerful flame spells. Later on, she learned about the Cult of Kagutsuchi, and their involvement in her mother's death. Turns out that throughout her lifetime, her mother had always opposed the cult, and seek a way to get rid of them once and for all. Eventually, she also heard of the 8 pieces of Kagutsuchi, and decided to form a team to search for them in hope of finding and eliminating the Cult of Kagutsuchi.

Personality: Laura, at hindsight, is what you would expect from a lady who grew in a family of noble descendant. She is prideful in her upbringing and have no sympathy toward other. She is also quite narcissistic, considering herself as the most beautiful person there could ever be and that nothing could be better than her. However, it was but a mere act as Laura crave for a friend she can trust, and she often feel lonely within her heart. Despite her proud persona, Laura always tried her best not to antagonize anyone and is never fond of arguing with other people herself. She is also quite paranoid, and extremely dislike anyone gazing toward her.

Toward her friends, Laura is a bit more open person though also a little bit shy. She isn't the best at socializing, so even if she tried, Laura would have a hard time starting a conversation and might end up making the situation around her more awkward. However, Laura isn't the one to lie toward her friends, and even if she has to, she would either half-assed the information or not saying anything whatsoever. In the same way, she also dislike it if her friends lie to her, and even though she hates getting herself into argument, having betrayed by her friends is one of the few things that would send her into full blown rage. The other things that would anger her are basically any situation where she lost her friend.

For those who make an enemy out of her, woe unto them. Laura can turn into a sadist toward her enemies, and would greatly enjoy making them suffer. To the enemies she had to treat much more seriously though, she treat them as such and would immediately go for the quick kill. In other word, if she found her time to purposefully torture you, you might not really worth her time to begin with. However, she treats her opponent in rivalry with great respect, and while she might be quite a sore loser at heart, she knew better than to voice her saltiness.

On the other hand, to those whom she put all her trust upon, either as her lover or her best friend, lucky them for that means she will protect them with everything she got. This is the only kind of people she had ever smiled upon, and the ones she would willingly pour her emotions into. Toward someone she loves, she also shows a rather seductive side while still being a shy person herself. Laura, strangely for someone having a hard time trusting people, rarely gets jealous, and just as rarely voicing it.

All that aside, Laura really likes eating fishes and any salty food. In private, she would often add a lot of salt to her food no matter what it is. She likes her drink warm regardless of the surrounding temperature, and she could care less if it would make her sweat a lot. She simply can't stand cold water. Her favourite pass time is listening to music, and Laura is a great soprano singer herself.

Skills: Good at handling her blade.

Equipment & Weaponry: A long dagger-like blade and a shield, both imbued with the power of Phoenix' feather. She got this from her father's heirloom to help her with her demon hunting task. Later on, she also added the blessing of Atago Gongen toward the shield. The weapons are stored within her soul, and can be called at will. It also cannot be discarded, and will always return to its user's hand when the weapon is thrown away.

Magic:

-Flame Manipulation: Her specialty. Laura can create fire from her palm or her weapon, and manipulate it at will.

-Flame Nullification: With the blessing of Atago Gongen, Laura also gained immunity to any form of flame, whether it was a normal flame or ones imbued by magic.

-Soul Absorption: Laura can absorb soul from dead people using her dagger. Not really useful for fighting but it was mostly to fuel her ultimate ability.

-Die Ewige Flamme – Lavatein: The strongest form of Laura's flame magic. A cursed magic which can burn even the soul of human and youkai alike, Lavatein is not just a mere flame magic. In fact, it can't even be considered as a flame. It is the “concept of burning and incineration” given form as black flame, which color is darker than night and temperature is hotter than the sun. It is a flame-like entity fuelled by millions of sinful souls, whose sins gave the flame its pitch black colour. However, as it is not technically a flame but a materialization of concept, this magic also bypasses Atago Gongen's protection, and thus, it could also burn Laura herself if used carelessly.

When it is not being worn side-ways on his head, it is guaranteed to be tied on his back and hidden away by clothing.
• History: Nolan Adkins had been born prematurely with a weak, fragile health. As if that wasn't bad enough, in the early years of his life, a strong respiratory disease had harmed his lungs to the point that little Nolan had acquired an incurable Acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) and needed to be constantly plugged to life support to live.
  
  Ever since he was 4, a hospital room had become his world. All he had ever know were from books his parents brought him occasionally, souvenirs from trips, the radio and hospital crew conversations. He never had the opportunity to attend school and make friends but, several relatives came from very far away to visit him every month. They looked happy, they smiled but somewhere deep inside the boy knew they were hurting. That by being there, in such a condition he was hurting them, keeping his loved ones from moving on. At the same time, though he was able to read about the world and look at pictures, it would also bring him immense pain to not be able to see them in person.
  
  At his sixteenth birthday, the teenager had decided that it was enough. Arguing and discussing ensued as Nolan begged at his family to please pull the plug on him. This was not a life worth living and the effort others kept making to pretend everything was fine... It hurt to see them put on happy faces when they were, in fact, miserable and worried. Both he and his relatives needed to move on. Eventually, they obliged, granting him a last wish of singing at his passing instead of crying. His favorite Christmas carol echoed through the hospital halls that afternoon and he felt loved as his short life slipped away without the help of the machines.
  
  But it was not the end.
  
  One of the souvenirs Nolan had received in life was an odd oriental mask, bought from an old man that had been clearing his attic, and hung on the room above the bed. Yorokobi as it called itself, was an Okame mask once used in actual Noh theatre performances, before being stored away in a chest for hundreds of years, forgotten. Longing the warmth of the stage-life again, year after year after year, it had eventually gained a conscience of its own. From the wall in the hospital room, it had watched the boy's struggle attentively, instantly noticing the similarities of both their situations. Nolan, a human with a flawed body, trapped in-between 4 walls to guarantee his survival, and it, the Menreiki dreaming about a life in the outside world that it without a physical form, a way to disguise itself, would never be allowed to have... Two tragic beings, stuck in a position they despised.
  
  Maybe that's why when the human had begun to leave the physical realm into the spiritual one, Yorokobi had decided to intervene. A soul calling for another, thinking that this kind of ending was rather... dull. The boy deserved more than that, especially after those lonely nights, feeling like a burden, wondering why he was still there. The wishes of one and the other would overlap, mix, merge. Two became one.
  
  After Nolan's passing, all of his belongings got given and sold away because they were too painful to see. After passing by a couple of hands and storage boxes, the mask had ended up in the display of an antique/souvenir shop where for the first time, unwatched and in an ample space it could roam and begin making sense of the world around him. With no memories from before, Nolan would fiddle with objects and books around the store having to re-learn a lot of things. As such, those were often found moved out of place, or just slightly skewed from their initial positions in the morning, which the owner started attributing to themselves forgetting they had done such thing.
  
  Then one day they left, ready to explore the world outside the store where an unconscious longing for performing would lead Nolan to a travelling-circus. Nowadays, it is his home, both a way to satiate the stage-life itch and a ticket to see the world, including all of the wonderful things on it.

  Personality: Nolan Adkins despite having died at age 16, acts just as a 10-year-old kid would. Due to not knowing much about the world, he is very curious about everyone and everything, often making LOTS of questions to others, that might find such a disruptive habit annoying. He loves nature and sightseeing, even the simplest things like a park or a fountain are enough to wow him. No matter how bad the present might seem, Nolan considers the gift of life precious and special. Living by itself is the greatest joy of the universe.
  
  This boy loves talking and it's an open book when it comes to private or personal questions. It is incredibly easy to befriend him, yet equally easy to make him hate someone. A tiny flicker or cruelty and evil intent are all it takes for the little clown to start avoiding, or outright fearing, someone.
  
  He also seems to own quite an enormous reserve of energy, being one to bounce this and that way, quickly changing subjects or tasks and engaging in interactions with different people. Nolan loves exploring the circus in his free-time, visiting others in their rooms and such just to make casual conversation. If allowed, he would be ecstatic to visit the town in a bit of a tour. Not needing food or feeling physical tiredness anymore helps this a lot.
  
  Nolan deeply enjoys performing. He's longed to return to the stage for centuries and being in front of a crowd fills him with both excitement and a nostalgic feeling of similarity. He was literally created for this!! How could he not love it? The boy also truly dislikes seeing people sad and will try everything in his power to make them feel better. He also considers himself a good judge of emotions given that well, he is the representation of one after all. However, he also believes in anything that is said to him, being one to assume everyone is nice until proven the opposite. He'll often get used and tricked in return, yet, the childish and bright personality hardly wavers.
  
  Being one of a submissive disposition, Nolan has no strength to stand up for himself, alone. That is something that gets worse when added to his constant insecurity about his choices, given that he is never truly 100% sure of a decision he made and will apologize too much to someone if he feels like he has wronged them... What happens with a certain frequency since he is too honest and can sound harsh without meaning it at times.

  Joyful inspiration: Like its name (and similar to the entity it portrays), Yorokobi can inspire pleasant sensations of happiness, tranquillity and peace to the people around it. The effects depend on the person, to more empathic individuals being prone to receive stronger feelings, but in general, it makes an audience more acceptive of sillier performances and helps angry or stressed individuals to calm down a lot faster.
  
  Into the shell: Nolan may choose to retract his spirit-like form back into the Noh mask. It's a state where he's left in a sort of standby mode, able to only listen to its surroundings. It's very useful for hiding when however he's hiding from doesn't know anything about his true nature and makes it so that Nolan doesn't need much space for himself. In fact, he could live contently inside an items closet for as long as it is not too tight.
  
  Pain immunity: Given that his true form is solely the mask he wears, the spirit-like projection can be stabbed, burnt and everything you have a right to and it will not bleed, react the damage. If anything, akin to a ghost, physical objects he's not actively interacting with will simply go through his shape. If the mask is scratched or broken, however, the opposite then applies. Breaking said vessel in half will surely erase his existence from the earthly plane, forcibly expelling Yorokobi into the spirit realm.
  
  Additional Notes: It is unknown whether the soul residing in the mask (that calls itself Yorokobi, Joy in Japanese) and the soul of the diseased Nolan have merged into a single entity or whether the Youkai had connected with the struggle of the perpetually hospitalized teen so deeply it confused itself. Whatever the truth is, it has undoubtedly taken the identity of Nolan Adkins to itself, truly believing to be, in fact, the teenager. As such, he may use 'we', talk about Kobi in the third person or use the normal first person, depending on the context or situation. Physical or ability matters are Yorokobi's and emotional or mental matters are attributed to Nolan.
  
  Has the interesting habit of describing emotions and happenings with the usage of Japanese onomatopoeia, as if their meanings were common sense, which they are not.

  History: Born into the second most chaotic time of Japanese history, Sengoku Jidai, to Hojo Ujimasa. From thirteen years old Benjiro was taught the ways of the samurai, Archery, Horseback riding and Kendo. When he was fifteen his brother and uncle brought him into battle for the first time against a rival clan, during the battle in the enemies castle, he found a ornate box adorned with carvings of lions. Presenting the box to his Uncle Ujiteru Hojo, his uncle told him to keep it, a worth price of a great victory won, remember you first victory, where the words his uncle told him.
  
  Inside the box was a bamboo flute. Returning to the hojo castle his eight siblings pressed him to play his new treasure. Putting his lips to the object all his siblings felt a wave of clarity rush over their bodies as if the music moved their souls. It wasn't long till one of his siblings told their father, seeing his potential as great ornament to have at court he sent Benjiro to the Takeda clan Daimyo as a show of good faith from their many years of alliance. Word quickly spread all across Japan of the legend of the boy with a magic flute, gaining him the allies, The Blue Lion.
  
  Later in 1590 He received a poem from his father with a small box, the box was adorned with carvings of lions.
  
  
  Autumn wind of eve Blow away the clouds that mass O'er the moon's pure light. And the mists that cloud our mind Do thou sweep away as well.

  Benjiro knew what the poem mean't but he did not cry, him and his two brothers, Chiba Naoshige and Ōta Ujifusa where the last of the Hojo, both his brothers brought into the clan by marriage, that made him Damiyo of the Hojo Clan. Inside the box was a peach, a gift from china an legendary fruit that could make Benjiros reign of the Hojo last a thousand years! Sadly only ten years later the age of Sengoku Jidai was over the Tokugawa reigned as the new Shogun of Japan and demanded that Benjiro Hojo play for the new Shogun at court in Kyoto.
  
  Now centuries have gone by and Benjiro played for many Shoguns and Emperors only the Dysentery of Japan knew about his secret of immortality. Serving in the World War 2 it broke him. Seeing his own great proud of noble nation reduced to nothing but rubble and the once heavily divine emperor brought down to a mere man, he wanted to retire. Without question the emperor let him live in solitude high in the mountains of Japan for his many centuries of service. There he has been for almost one hundred years now sitting undernieth a waterfall playing his flute to sooth the souls of all who come to his mountain. A living legend that had lived though both of Japans greatest and worst times.
