A Menace
No one remembers when it first began; if old legends are to be believed, it was thousands of years ago. Regardless of when or how it came to be, superhumans now roam the Earth, and things will never be the same. A sudden influx of parahumans that occurred in the late 2080s, has made Night City even more of a technological marvel than it already was. In the year 2094, despite the devastation of the Fifth Corporate War, Night City managed to withstand the test of time and create the world's largest gateway to Space. The Orbital Elevator™, currently run by Weyland-Yutani Corporation, connects Earth to a sprawling station that hovers just outside its atmosphere. Its advent has made space travel much more affordable and Earth's expansion out of the solar system has lessened the crippling resource shortage that once shocked the world. Though it had been a long time, the world looked hopeful again.
That was, until the events of January 1st, 2122. Earth lost contact with the Atlas expedition, a colony ship that had been accompanied by an international military escort. Their routine check-ins suddenly stopped, and they both simply vanished. There was a global outcry, what was it exactly, in the vast deep expanse of space that had happened to the millions of people that had been sent to the Hyades Cluster? Before the world had time to ponder the mystery further, nightmarish creatures began to rise out of the ocean. While some of these beasts were only about the size of a great white shark, others towered well over forty stories high.
The world scrambled to defend itself, and despite the massive death tolls and destruction caused by attacks perpetuated by these beasts, the megacorporations were unready and unwilling to pose a united front. Swaths of land were lost to these attacks before a global coalition was formed to deal with the attacks, and mankind currently hangs on by a thread.
Despite that, here you are, in the year 2188, living in Night City; one of the last great cities, a bastion of humanity that could be swept away at any moment. Whether it was the need to be a hero, the want for power, or the fact that you had no other options, it is time for you to carve out whatever niche you can before the whole world goes tits up for the last time.

This is an interest check for a Cyberpunk-based story with many different fandoms sprinkled in. The basis for most story beats will be a cross-between Cyberpunk, Alien, Pacific Rim, Kaiju No. 8, various Superhero mediums, World of Darkness, some Lovecraft, and a few others. That being said, any story beats are welcome, so long as they mesh with the overall feel of the story and you run them by me first.
Writers of all skill levels are welcome, after all one can only get better through practice. I only ask that at a minimum, your posts are literate and add enough to the story that others have something to reply to. There will be no minimum post size. At least one post a week will be expected, but usually more often. As usual, no God-moding, being a jerkward, intentionally trying to ruin the story, etc.
This is NOT a first come first serve RP, character applications will open in a couple of days or whenever we have enough interest, whichever comes first. There is no limit to how many people can work for/with/against a certain Megacorporation, the story will simply change to reflect our roster of characters.
