Futuristic New Society (Closed)

The world is nothing like it was before: barren and scarred. Earth is nothing more than a devastated surface with isolated cities. Even after so much destruction, the humans still live on the surface. While the fallout of so many wars has scarred the world, Earth is still far from peace. The gap between rich and poor is still relevant. However, it is far from the only concern with this world. Now with the evolution of mutants within human society, has caused another “witch hunt” to happen across the planet. To prevent revolution, the governments of the cities have implemented strong martial laws with heavy police/military presence. However, human instinct does not bode well with captivity.

Mikhayhu "Micah" Adelstein

It had been a nearly perfect setting for Micah. Outside of the Treasury Department’s headquarters a protest was going on. The crowd of human onlookers was large and watching the protestors with keen eyes. The Head Secretary had made several derogatory comments towards the mutant population in the city and even had suggested purging the mutants from the city. The police had been far too distracted by the protestors to have noticed Micah sneaking into the building. It had been too easy for the young mutant. It wasn’t until several explosions inside of the building caused the police to turn their attention away from the protestors.

Suddenly, the large wooden doors of the building blew open and blanketed the outside with debris and dust. As soon as the dust settled, the Head Secretary was thrown outside of the building. Covered in several bruises and his own blood. The onlookers stared in shock as a skinny figure made its way outside. Purple hair and ripped, black clothing were huge indicators for several individuals in the crowd. Many watched the figure with steady eyes as he approached the Head Secretary, no doubt thinking they were about to witness a murder. However, that was not Micah’s goal. “What a pathetic waste.” He spoke, his voice full of contempt. He looked down at the injured man, who was currently struggling to sit up, and took a step closer. He then looked at the crowds of mutants and humans.

The young criminal then spoke, loudly enough for all witnessing it could hear. “Look upon me, humans, and realize that this could be you one day if you go against us. Realize that you are weak, pathetic, and, most of all, powerless. The government may protect you now, but what happens when it falls? Would you rather submit or face our wrath? So, let this be in a message to you all: no one dare stand in our way.”

The criminal gave a cruel smile. He then turned to the Head Secretary and violently shoved him down the grand staircase leading up to the Headquarters of the Treasury. It probably wouldn’t kill him, but it would send a message. While the few police that had gathered quickly went to the man’s aid, a couple were going for Micah with their guns drawn. The mutant simply smiled and activated his powers. His eyes glowed purple and small lighting seemed to fizzle over his body. This caused both of the police to hesitate on shooting, which was enough time for Micah to jump past them. While his strength was powerful, his agility was almost unmatched. He was gone from the scene within a few seconds.

Micah made his way down a dilapidated alleyway. You couldn’t avoid the old rubbish that littered its floors but for a few intermittent steps. He knew most would not look there to check for him, so he walked in quite a relaxed manner. His eyes lazily scanned the ugly stone walls that surrounded him. “Huh? Been quite some time since I walked down this way.” He muttered. Suddenly a skinny rat ran across his feet from a nearby trash pile. His body didn’t flinch, but his pale skin seemed to get even paler. “I wonder why.” He muttered sarcastically to himself, he then proceeded on his way.

Chloe Harp Marsay
Chloe had been in a nearby building, her back against the wall as she held a young girl close to her. Someone had gotten too curious about the things that she does and the person she said she was. Chole could usually pass for a normal human especially since her power hadn't been and to her knowledge couldn't be even if she tried, be used for violence. It was a pretty good thing because it made it a lot easier for her to do what she always has done. Help those who need it most.

That morning she had found a young mutant girl, seeming to be around six being carried away by law enforcers so like always, she jumped into action. But unfortunately, when trying to hide the girl she was spotted. She was sure she would be caught, beaten, and detained when suddenly she felt a burst of emotions. All at the same time a loud noise could be heard just a few blocks down so the man looked back and ran out of the building to investigate out there. Chole felt overwhelmed as feelings of fear, confusion, and slight anger filled her and replaced her own emotions. She picked the girl up and ran out after she was sure that the man had gone away. She needed to figure out what happened. Once she arrived at the scene there had been officers surrounding the area and by the looks of it, what remained of a protest that had taken place. Though if they were going to continue was unclear to her.

She then turned her attention back to the officers walking around with guns and other various weapons then remembered the child she had basically put up for display. Chole quickly ran away and the farther she got the more the feelings of others had faded from her mind. She held the young female tightly as she ran so that she wouldn't fall but suddenly came to a stop when she looked down an ally, seeming a bit curious of the person who had been in it alone. Seems like he was talking to himself too. She was a bit hesitant but she put the girl down. "Please...stay here until I come back and try to stay quiet yeah?" She told her as she knelt to her height. The girl nodded and pressed her back against the brick wall and she didn't dare make a single sound as she did so.

Chole then slowly made her way towards him while of course staying cautious. She had no idea what to expect from him and while she wouldn't have cared if she was by herself...she wasn't. This could put her and the girl she's trying to protect at risk of being found. That alone would cause them nothing but trouble but her curiosity only grew. She couldn't just ignore it. She stopped a few feet away from him and called out in a soft and calm voice, "You alright here? Sorry if in disturbing something here- But people being in alleyways like this isn't something you see every day." She slightly tilted her head as she looked at him and took in everything she could make out about his appearance.
