THE HALL OF INSIGHT

The guy's hesitance to continue singing for them didn't come as a surprise. His initial assumption was because it was out of shyness as opposed to anything Potential-related, but as Jackson kept speaking, it became quickly apparent it was because of the latter. He had seen Potentials affect weirder things, so there was no need to question it. He was planning on suggesting an alternative of just monologuing, maybe telling them about how his time had been in this competition so far, but it seemed both their heads turned to more pressing matters when Thelma collapsed.

The laugh from the new voice brought a frown to Pascal's face. They sounded confused initially, as if they were just as lost as the rest of them. They were the one to begin monologuing though, and it became apparent that not only had they struck Thelma down, but it was more than purposeful.

The blond had to hold back rolling his eyes when she mentioned the gangs. Of course. This was supposed to stay wholly unrelated, and here it was, the Four Heavenly Bullshit seeping in.

"Who cares?" he called out into the darkness. "We're here to play some games, not be caught up in your turf war nons-" His words failed him when she mentioned others. It didn't come as a surprise to hear, and as he was saying before, it really wasn't important. He had imagined this was some personal grudge against Thelma. Maybe something internal from the Serpents, or maybe they had picked a fight with a Phoenix or a Dragon. Hell, it could have even been some Tiger. Pascal barely kept track of the important ones. And yet... this seemed beyond that. This seemed bigger than "an eye for an eye" or "just business" and possibly external.

"Who are you...?" he asked, "and why here?"

Perhaps for the reason mentioned by this mystery woman, Pascal had picked up the sound of her footsteps and voice softening as time passed. She was moving away from him, presumably in the direction of the new guy. Was he her next mark? And then would Pascal follow? He had stayed back in the light to act as an anchor for Thelma after they grabbed the straggler, and yet, it had given him a prime opportunity to escape. In the back of his mind, he knew he could have ditched them in the darkness and gotten a head start on finding the exit to this maze. And yet, they had formed an alliance, one which he wanted to see through to its end. Was it dumb that he still wanted that now? Probably. The only thing that had changed was the goal: instead of finishing the challenge together, it was now surviving... possibly for only two of them.

Surely Miles had tabs on them though, right? Their bumbling around in the dark had to have been currently filmed. Surely he'd notice soon enough and something would be done? Even so, security or the police would take time to come... or worse yet, Miles was in on it.

"... It might be time to show off those pipes of yours, Guy!" Pascal called. He waited for Jackson's voice, deciding it was back to Plan A. He'd remember the steps he took and the turns he made. Hopefully the woman would be debilitated, and hopefully he wouldn't be before finding them.

HUNKS IN THE CITY vs. THE DRAGON AND THE PHOENIX
Markus shot a look at Tiger. The Kings weren't acting like themselves. That was what that Dragon Bitch had said. His mind immediately went to the strange tremor from earlier that day, and the way that Tiger had reacted to it, how he'd claimed to have saved him. Saved him from what? The fate of a mindless puppet, he figured... Though, he wasn't sure entirely that the two events were connected, but the evidence was continuing to accumulate.

And then, as if things couldn't already get any worse, Vulken-fucking-Beckman.

Markus braced himself, his arms shielding his face from the brunt of the heatwave that had emanated out upon the Phoenix's arrival. Chikage, Vulken. This scene was starting to look familiar, Markus thought as an insidious kind of madness started to take hold within him. Tiger was warbling on in his ear about how he was letting the Phoenix King escape, about how he was a failure of a King and on, and on, and on.

He closed his eyes, and when he opened them again, it was like someone had pulled the wool off. He felt like he was seeing clearly, again. He felt more like himself, the way he'd always dreamed he'd be. Maybe he'd miscalculated, somewhere along the road. But now, in this three-way deadlock of déjà vu, Markus saw an opportunity to atone for past mistakes, to finally wipe the slate clean. To kill the old, so that the new could finally break free.

“Alright, then...”

In a gesture that had become increasingly rare for him in those days—ever since he'd become King—Markus smiled. It was a threat.

“Let's get this done.”

It was time to move. Regardless of what ever little trick Vulken's cronies were pulling, Markus' next act was the same. He dropped to the ground in a crouch and slammed his palm into the concrete. He was ready for an eruption of ice to follow, flowing like a river to the sea towards everything that opposed him. And it was at precisely that moment that the world dropped out from under them all.

The ground shook. The buildings shook. Car alarms blared from every direction as the earth quaked beneath their feet. Markus stumbled back as the pavement cracked and his attack faltered. FUCK—, Markus awkwardly tried to regain his footing, but everything continued to shift, uncaring, unfeeling. What the Hell is this—?

So distracted by trying to keep his feet, Markus failed to notice when Tiger started to act... Strangely.

“Oh, boy... Uh-oh. Uh-oh, uh-oh, uh-... Oh?.”

Markus turned in time to spy Tiger examining itself, staring at its paws with what appeared to be an expression of both disbelief and delight.

“Ohhh, ho-ho-ho!!” The tiny creature exclaimed, and then was gone. Markus blinked. He staggered as he whipped his head around, looking for the beast that had been his constant companion for eight long months.

Nothing, except for the sudden feeling of dread that accompanied a low, rumbling growl that left the hairs on the back of his neck standing rigid. Markus could not locate the source of the sound, though it was quickly accompanied by that of padding footsteps—ones that sounded as if they belonged to a creature the size of a large bus—as whatever it was slowly loped down a nearby alleyway.

Whatever it had been, the invisible beast was gone. Markus was now truly alone, and acknowledging that fact, he readied himself to beat a hasty retreat.

Sang-Cheol Man
SCENE:
Serpents Arc 3: Scene 3 [The Filth in The Gutter]
LOCATION:
Lab Icarus, North District
PARTICIPANTS:
Sang-Cheol
Sun In The Gutter

The flames flickered, and smoke erupted from the lab grounds. The foundational level of Lab Icarus was destroyed and broken; debris lay everywhere. The occasional corpse littered everywhere, accompanied by their numerous body parts. Amidst the rubble and the fire lay an unconscious man.

"Urgh... That... Motherfucker..." Sang-Cheol groaned. Pulling himself back up, Sang-Cheol sat up and coughed up blood. His arm was slightly green from injected Greenman, but it would fade soon enough. Looking up, Sang-Cheol surveyed his surroundings. "Huh. Everything's destroyed." However, this wasn't entirely bad. Lab Icarus had gone through worse and recovered from. Not to mention the Dragons didn't breach beyond the first floor. It'd be a pain in the ass to replace the equipment, but it'd take a day or two to start production again. Bash was nowhere to be seen, but Sang-Cheol assumed he was okay.

Jiak, on the other hand...

"Damn, bastard." The sheer thought of him made Sang-Cheol angry. Of all the ones to call a bastard, Jiak decided to call him a bastard. If Jiak didn't lead the assault, then Darius would have been alive. Olivine would have still been alive. Mimi-

The scientist's breaths slowly became more ragged, though he cleared his mind. At the end of the day, there was no point mulling over a dead man's words. Jiak didn't know shit, and accomplishment was nothing but shit. Darius was his fault. That much he would acknowledge though Darius was still alive. After all, what was the difference between dead and alive? As long as a person acts like a person, they are a person after all.

"What a pain." Pushing up his sunglasses, Sang-Cheol's finger brushed against his nose. Sang-Cheol froze. His sunglasses were gone, and in return, he had noticed everything was in color. "Ah... Ah... Ah...." The confident persona that Sang-Cheol took up crumbled immediately. Even with the multiple drugs that flowed through his body, Sang-Cheol felt weak. His head pounded as it started to slowly register reality.

"Mimi... Darius... They're both dead." Sang-Cheol clutched his head. "Ten... Yuna..." More names were left out of Sang-Cheol's mouth. With each word, another drop of despair. "Hrrrrghhh." Sang-Cheol lurched over and started heaving. Yet, nothing came out. No substance, no scream, no anger.

Only sadness.

"Why," Sang-Cheol said. "Why does every relationship I try to build always end up in flames!" His fists hit the floor, cracking the floor, and he wailed out loud. "Why does everybody leave in the end!"

Mother disappeared when he was born. Father died from an overdose. Hyung abandoned him at the convenience store. Isobel stopped showing up to school. Boltius never showed up. Mimi...

"Mimi... Mimi... I'm so sorry." The weight of sin. At the end of the day, he was at fault for killing Mimi and Darius. At the end of the day, it was his fault for not maintaining the desperate attempts of friendship. "It's cold..." At the end of the day, he was the only one left.

Despite the flames, despite the warmth, a chill ran down his body. "It's cold... It's cold... It's cold..." No matter how many drugs he injected into his body, this cold wouldn't come. No matter how many times he was stabbed, this cold wouldn't come. No matter how many times he had killed another for his own personal benefit, this couldn't come.

Only realizing that nobody would bother to accompany him. Only realizing that everybody who did would die. Only realizing that in the end, nobody but him would remain.

"You're wrong about one thing, Jiak..." Sang-Cheol muttered. He was tired of crying. Tired of killing. Tired of living. Tired of yearning. Tired of anger. "In this world, everyone suffers in one shape or form. That it is only being selfish that we may continue to look forward."

"Don't look back and always move forward. Eventually, you'll find what you are looking for."

The words of his professor echoed into his head.

The pain of being abandoned over and over. No matter how many times it's been done, the pain could never be eased over time. The memory of spending in that cold jail without warmth suffocated him. A dead, bloodied woman stained his dreams. "At the end of the day, you're no better than me."

Sang-Cheol could hear footsteps.

"Gerda..." She was missing one of her arms, yet Sang-Cheol's eyes weren't phased. Her expression was vacant of any emotion as she walked towards him. "Gerda... Please tell me. What should I live for?"

The worker stopped in front of him. Kneeling before the emotionally vulnerable Serpent, she spoke. "You and I both know the answer, Sang-Cheol." With her arm, she embraced Sang-Cheol. The scientist made no effort, and his head rested on her shoulder. "To fulfill the professor's dream. To create a god." A needle danced around her fingers.

The needle pierced into Sang-Cheol's spine. Immediately, he went limp.

"Good night, Sang-Cheol," Gerda muttered.

Another pair of footsteps could be heard behind her. Aristotle, Timothy, and Rebecca approached.

"The resetting periods have become more frequent," Rebecca said.

"Then it means our roles art coming to an end." Aristotle croaked.

"To an end of a dream. And the birth of a new one." Timothy added.

One moment the lab was destroyed and filled with flames. In the next instant, it reverted back to normal as if a raid hadn't occurred, to begin with. As if nobody had died and it was just another ordinary day at Lab Icarus.

Only when a Lab Head is killed is when a lab is destroyed.

Kanna Katsura - Azure Dragons - Jack [CS LINK]
Scene - Arc 3, Scene 2 | The Dragon and the Phoenix
Location - Eastern Edge of Central District, overlooking the SEC Bridge
Mentions/Interactions - Helva, Isaiah, Meirin, Rin, Shen, Vulken, Yong-Yut

Kanna remained still. She had no idea where her opponent was. And fighting in the darkness was less than ideal. She could only rely on her instincts and her hearing to hopefully detect Helva before they attacked again.

Around her, Kanna could hear objects being thrown around her, most likely Helva's way of throwing Kanna off of where they could be. The Jack remained in their spot, listening closely.

Right, left, right, left....

Kanna heard the final object land to her right and immediately shifted to her left, meeting Helva's lunge. For the most part it was predictable they'd come from the opposite side of the sound, trying to bait them. Her arms came up to block what she thought would be a strike, but instead felt herself being pulled forward before something connected to the side of her face. Immediately afterwards was a strike to her chest. The wind escaped her lungs as Kanna gasped, but managed to remain standing as she grabbed onto Helva's outstretched arm, twisting around and raising it over her shoulder. The Jack then pulled and lifted Helva over, who would feel weightless once more before being thrown over and forward by Kanna, a decent distance away through the office room.

She didn't know where Helva would land, but she hoped it was back out the window they entered from. As soon as Helva was away, Kanna dropped to one knee, catching her breath. By now, the blood on her leg had took on a more solid-ish state, dark in color. She could feel fresh blood running down the side of her face. The Dragon spit out a warm liquid out of her mouth. This was definitely not her best performance and Kanna knew it. But there was little that could be done until the battlefield was evened.

Kanna looked around for her opponent, who had disappeared into the darkness once more. Perhaps it would've been better to pin them down instead. But Kanna knew that she was at least stalling Helva from capturing her. If they wanted to kill her, Helva would've done it much earlier. Kanna had no idea what they intended to do if they did capture her, but that was something she wouldn't allow up until her last breath. As for her own intentions, Kanna had no reason to capture her opponent, other than to bargain her own safety. But even then, the Jack saw it better to simply defeat them now.

It felt like forever since they first arrived here, when the once peaceful situation exploded into chaos. And still, Kanna knew nothing about what was going on with the Kings, just that something was wrong with them according to Isaiah. She'd just have to trust him, and the others that went with him. Her mind wasn't exactly given the opportunity to worry about that now anyway.

The Dragon Jack struggled back to their feet, ready for round two. In a coarse yet firm voice, she called out into the darkness.

"Even with the darkness, you're aren't strong without your friends by your side."

Kasumi Katsura - Azure Dragons - Veteran [CS LINK]
Scene - Dragons Arc 3- Scene 1: Securing the Future
Location - East District, Tech Expo Private Room
Mentions/Interactions - Sophia ( azenva azenva ), Jesper ( AriAriAbabwa AriAriAbabwa ), Amari (@angel doe)

Kasumi listened to the man's explanation. What he was saying was clearly a lie.

She was about to interject and threaten him once more, when she noticed something quick fly out towards the drone she was controlling. Before Kasumi could do anything, the drone suddenly shot into the air, colliding with the ceiling. She quickly disconnected before it made contact, blinking rapidly for a moment. That was when she heard the commotion outside the door. Whoever that Jane person was just made their move.

Kasumi quickly attempted to reconnect to the Guardian network. That was when she found out what had happened. The network was being manually overridden, and the source of the signal was within the convention center. Only a handful of people knew about, and had access to the override USB, which was normally kept within the Albrechts Industries budling in a secure area.

How it was here was a mystery, but one that Kasumi couldn't dwell on. Outside the room she and Jesper were in, it sounded like Jane had dealt with everyone outside. Kasumi had to move quickly.

Going back to her phone, Kasumi quickly access the convention center's network, tracing the origin of the override. She was expecting some complex set up, perhaps maybe in the security room she was in earlier. But instead, she found the laptop that was stashed in the janitor's closet.

Interesting...

Kasumi quickly accessed the laptop with little effort, cutting off its connection to the Guardian network. As a precaution, she removed the power limiters on the laptop, allowing it to overload and send a feedback to the USB, short-circuiting it and rendering it dead so if someone were to recover it, it wouldn't be usable.

To verify that it worked, Kasumi attempted to connect to another one of Jesper's drones, in which she was successful. She disconnected from the drone, sending everyone another message.

"The drones have been restored to your control, Jesper. I will deal with the man aiding Jane, who just dealt with all the security in the private room. Please hurry back."

Kasumi switched back over to the convo center network. She needed a new tool to use, as she didn't want to take another drone away from Jesper. As she scanned around, Kasumi noticed something that was in the Robotics section of the center. Though she found the name a bit weird and childish, 'Updog' was a sophisticated machine design. And it was armed too.

Better than nothing...

The Dragon quickly took control of the 4-legged bot, navigating it through the hallways back to where the mysterious man named Baptiste was. There were speakers installed in Updog, to Kasumi's slight surprise. She took advantage of them, speaking to Baptiste again.

"I believe I made my intentions clear the first time you were confronted. I will not reiterate them."

Kasumi took aim with the two gun barrels mounted on the sides of Updog's head. She took a moment to verify the ammo was non-lethal again. Though she had a strong sense the man was an HP, it still didnt sit right with Kasumi to take a life. But knowing Baptiste was an HP also allowed her to know what kind of damage he could live through.

Updog fired, sending another non-lethal bullet towards the man. But this time instead of the leg, Kasumi aimed directly at their eye, with the goal of rendering disorientated and hopefully that would subdue them enough to surrender.

"Yoohoo!"
The greeting reintroduced the fallen idol at the door. He waved at Alice and Dante, oblivious to the drama that occurred here. "Nico is back, and ready to get the show on track! We got more customers coming in who would love to meet you!" Nico walked inside, beaming at the girl.

Alice sighed. A part of her wished she could talk more with Dante. Talk more about her forbidden thoughts; the things she wasn't allowed to say in front of the Tigers. Her motivation from this morning was long gone... but she couldn't disappoint the customers, nor Nico. The most she could do was offer them what they came for. Forcing a smile out, Alice said, "I'll be right there!"

Then in a hushed tone towards Dante, "I'd like to talk again at some point, even if I'm seldom left to myself. I want to do something."

But not long after, her attention shifted out the door. Faint grunting and clattering echoed in, and as Nico turned to the noise, she knew she wasn't alone in her confusion. "What is it, now?" Nico muttered.

"Are the guests fighting?" Alice guessed. It wouldn't have been the first time...

That was until they got to the uncovered manhole, Noas eyes twitched in hate and disgust as she already knew that she was supposably going to go down there, probably ruining her last outfit in the process. "Nope! NUH UH I REF-" Before Noa could protest any further their bodyguard Tyr swooped them into their arms, and gently descended down into the manhole, allowing her to enter without ruining her outfit, though it didn't stop Noa from muttering curses and swears. As Noa was still pissed at the prospect of going down there, going on as to shudder with each move Tyr made as he transverse through the sewers, while Noa practically refused to uncover her nose dreading the smell of the place with a burning passion. It wasn't until Noa was able to start hearing music and voices, did she relax somewhat, still not happy about the entire ordeal though, and it was made clear by the facial expression she was wearing.

When they finally were able to see the people that resided in the place, Tyr figured it would be a decent enough spot to allow Noa to be set down in, so without much prompting, Tyr lowered Noa down signaling to them that it was alright for them to walk on their own. Noa eventually complied allow herself to get back down on her own two feet as she now saw the group of people that had been residing in the tunnel. It pissed her off more, than not as she realized she wouldn't be able to punish the offenders who practically made them go through a sewer to go after them, and she would of be furious if their efforts in transversing the sewers was in vain.

Noa didn't say anything as she allowed Tyr to stand by their side, in order to continue their work as their bodyguard, her annoyance was clear on her face as she listened to the men ramble. That was until they were able to find out who they were dealing with, The Oranjese Mafia, it didn't ring any bells, but Noa didn't care, she finally had a target, someone who she would make pay for the suffering they caused her, the trash, the ruined outfit, and now the sewer. Her annoyed expression soon turned into a smile as she began to laugh, albite a bit maniacally, before rushing up to the guy, and with a crazed grin asked "OH DO TELL, where can we find the Oranjese Mafia, I would love, to have a nice CHAT with them."

Gav | Central | Passionate Melody Onslaught

The giant that stood staring down at Milo maintained that horrificly humane smile.

Then Gav spoke. " Alright, that sounds perfectly sound to me." His tone was still conversational, casual even. It seemed like a trick, at least until he moved out of Milo's path.

No sooner had he done that the place rattled and shook like the Tower once had under siege by the Astrial Knives.

Miles and Elizabeth practically announced it as the rattling and groaning of pipes and shake of dust showed the first signs.

The blank board grey that were now his sockets- widened.

The first piece of rubble came crashing down as balance was lost and the red lights span, silently yelling for those still in the shaking building and its spider-web cracking walls, to flee.

The ground shook and Gav grimaced.

An earthquake now? Of all times? Why? The timing was atrociously wrong and even worse, he had never heard of an Earthquake occurring in Oasis before or even ever. What was the meaning of this?!

It didn't matter. His gaze went to the shrieking Elizabeth and in his palm his hand shifted- it became a sphere, enveloping Elizabeth in its entirety. She was swallowed in the orb, dust, pieces of metal bouncing off it as it did Gav's Jotunn like body. Unaware of the fact that despite things bouncing off his giant like form, he still felt every single tap even with Altaia covering his body in hardened skin- the sensation was grating, and if the larger pieces of rubble fell--

KRRSH

Like one had just now-- it would only mean trouble later.

People scrambled all around them for the exit, some running blindly-- Gav however shouted-- "WATCH FOR MY EXIT" In a voice so loud it vibrated the air-- and then with his steps audible, he charged literally through the exit that Milo may have already went through, making it not just 4x larger, but much wider for the flow of those wishing a hasty retreat.

Gav however did not stop his charge there- the place crashed and came around them as he did and with Elizabeth in his left spherical palm he had no interests in slowing down till they both were out safe. Only when they were was when he slowed down, came to a stop, bits of dirt and metal glints flickering off the light- things he brushed off his metaphysical form. And then he shrunk, shrinking as he did while maintaining the orb's size.

Till finally he was his normal height, where he finally released Elizabeth with a slightly rough pop as the sphere deposited her on the ground and his hand snapped back into its natural, blue sigil marked form with him falling to a knee in the process from the pain that caused his hand.

" Mmm, well...that was fun."

Biting her tongue, Arisa attempted to keep her tone in check while speaking to her seniors. "Sir-," She bit off the rest of her thought because of how gross the phrase felt coming out of her mouth. " I'm coverin' for someone by that name, yeah. I am not aware of plans to send anyone else."

Arisa then noticed the source of the yipping sound at Hifumi's heels. "Aaaw cutie-" Her comment was cut off by the man hysterically ranting on the floor. Arisa's brows pulled down, and her nose wrinkled in disgust. " What in the fu-" She backed away from the man as her eyes darted to follow the fox's movement.

None of this shit was in the briefing. "Ya'll a real special lot, hm?" While there were more people with HPs than ever, Arisa hadn't ever been in a situation where people with abilities surrounded her. When the fox bit Hifumi, Arisa found herself even more confused and intrigued.

Zach’s eyes could penetrate through elevator doors, but the bullet couldn’t…especially not from this angle. Lowering the barrel, Zach moved again, finding a good spot to take aim and…the ground shook. Peering back in the direction of Central, towards things only his eyes could see, the Phoenix sniper tutted before doing the smart thing and exiting Vantaggio Tower before the old building collapsed. He made sure to grab his supplies along the way.

“Move the car directly below the 7th floor window. I’ll direct you.” Phone to his ear and duffle bag over his shoulders as he re-directed their escape vehicle to a more convenient location for the two that drew the most attention, Zach weaved through the streets of confused pedestrians that ran for cover once the earthquake struck. Or rather, ran away from anything that might fall on them. Others clung onto whatever they could to keep themselves standing.

Zach, however, sequestered a car from a West District civilian, after threatening the taxi driver at gunpoint, and drove his way to the Lucky Rabbit Casino despite the shaking of the earth. He pressed a hand to his earpiece. “Everyone doing alright? That earthquake was quite a doozy–magnitude 7 or 8 at least!”

Fortunately, they weren’t in Central.

Vantaggio Tower wasn’t very far from the Lucky Rabbit building either. The only reason Zach even stole a car is because arriving in one made him look less conspicuous. He parked the yellow vehicle in the casino building’s parking lot, leaned against the dashboard, and waited. “Hawk to Spellbinder and Gourmet. Hold out just a little bit longer. When we’re ready to retreat, or if you feel you really need to, the window is your easiest exit. Don’t forget to grab some cash on your way out~ Same to you, Temperer. Pluto. Break slot machines, but also watch each other’s backs until the retreat signal is pulled.”

A casino valet stepped out of a fancy looking car and Zach tracked him for a moment before getting out of the taxi to follow him step by step, though at a reasonable distance. It wasn’t until they were completely alone, away from even the prying of Tiger-eyed cameras, that the valet found himself dragged behind a large van, hand clamped firmly over his mouth.

Zach stepped out from behind the van, dressed in a Lucky Rabbit valet uniform. Taking his newly acquired ID and keys, the pink haired Phoenix veteran entered the casino through the back, ‘employee only’ entrance. Some things had to be done up close and personal.

“Hawk to Queen Pharaoh. Hurry it up.”

“You know bird brain, I’ll give it to you. Not many people can force me this hard.” Standing up from Hide, she walked over towards Pierre’s corpse. Grabbing the scruff of Pierre’s shirt, she opened her mouth. In the next instant, a big chunk of Pierre’s body disappeared into Raquel’s stomach.

Ahh, that hit the spot.

“And you! You’re not going anywhere!” Whip in hand, she swung it out at the crawling lady. It wrapped around her leg and began to pull her back into the elevator. Raquel took another bite out of Pierre’s body and had an ecstatic look on her face.

Lady Sonnen’s head spun, dizzy with the rapid blood loss as she tried to crawl away from the stench of death and the threat of the Phoenixes that surrounded her. She couldn’t even put up a fight when her ankle was gripped, pouring fresh blood from the sharp metal that had snagged her. She slumped onto the ground as she got dragged closer to the cannibal.

“You’re disgusting…”

Deryn’s eyes were wide in horror and fury, her bloodied talons held up, claws ready to slash as she witnessed the feast before her. She reached down to her pocket, brought out a radio, and stabbed a button with one claw, sending out a brief message before pocketing it again.

“I need backup, floor 7. Security backup on floor 7 now.”

She knew that her options were limited here, but it didn’t matter to her. Already she had let one life slip away between her fingers, and she didn’t see much she could do for the Lady. From her point of view, the most honourable move was a fight to the death, revenge.

Hide groaned in pain, staggering back onto his feet. It felt like a boulder got launched at breakneck speed right into his sternum. “Heavy..pantBastard.pant. Fuck… His head hurt like hell. He reached back, his scarred hands finding something warm and wet clinging onto the back of his head, dripping down the nape of his neck. Inspecting his palm, he found red. Hide mumbled, “For fuck’s sake…

He made a cry of outrage, taking the dagger from before, marching with fast, heavy steps forward, then flinging it at the bird lady with all his might- another yell leaving him. “I’M GONNA TURN YOU INTO CHICKEN POT PIE YOU DIRTY FUCKiNG WINGED RAT!” He took out his other dagger he had stashed away in the opposite pocket, along with his crowbar in the other hand, his stomps unending.

“I’M GOING TO-”

The emotions bubbling over inside Deryn were distracting as she realised the dagger was headed her way a bit too late. Had she been at peak body and mind, she’d have dodged the knife to the face without breaking a sweat. Instead, she broke off her sentence to snap at the approaching dagger with her beak, catching it though the cracking noise was indicative of injury to her mouth. With a growl, she pressed her mouth shut, rendering the dagger unusable as it clattered to the ground. A sharp bloody tooth fell with it.

A few lingering customers screamed.

Deryn charged Hide, using her potential to propel herself off the ground for extra momentum. Her outstretched claws aimed for his arms.

With Lady Sonnen dragging inch and inch closer to her, Raquel gave a toothy smile. “It’s meal time!” In the next instant, she jumped onto Lady Sonnen’s back. Acting quickly, Raquel grabbed the back of Lady Sonnen’s head. “You know what the tomato goes, miss?” A sinister tone filled her voice.

Lady Sonnen felt the air escape her body as her torso was flattened under Raquel, she had no words for her, just panicked breaths as she felt her grip on consciousness fade away.

“It goes… SPLAT, SPLAT, SPLAT!” In the next instance, with all of her strength, Raquel smashed Lady Sonnen’s head onto the hard floor like trying to open a coconut with a hard rock. “Sing with me~ SPLAT, SPLAT SPLAT!”

Blood escaped from the Lady’s face as it crushed into the ground below under the cannibal’s enhanced strength, and just like that, she was out. Not even the capacity for feeble resistance remained as her body went slack.

Hide pulled back, his shoes scuffing against the ground to halt his momentum. He swung his crowbar to the approaching talon, the momentum he had before swimming up his body and into his arm with a shout.

CLANG.

Crowbar met talon as the two forces charged at each other, and Deryn’s attack was halted. Her hand fell to her side, bleeding and misshapen from the impact. That was her bad arm anyway, and now there was little she could do with it with the bullet in her shoulder, the bite wounds on her arm, and the broken hand. She took a few steps back, before charging again, bringing her best side forward as she soared above Hide before falling down at him, good claw and beak poised to strike him.

“Hmmmm, it tastes so good.” Raquel blushed as she cupped her cheek. This woman wasn’t half bad either. A nice tender, yet sweet taste. Not to mention a great spectacle was happening right in front of her. She almost felt like a queen, but she had a job to do.

Taking out Pierre’s card, she swiped on the elevator and pressed on the 9th floor. “Good luck, honey!” Raquel waved. The elevator doors soon shuttered to a stop and started ascending.

Hide gasped in a panic, tripping over his own feet and landing on his back with an “OOMPH” His hands and feet shot up towards the ceiling in a flurry, trying to prevent Deryn from getting any closer to his main body. His eyes shot to Raquel in appalled alarm, yelling in fury to the closing elevator, “RAQUEL YOU FUCKER-” before it was shut to his outrage. Hide smiled, eyes as wide as saucers. A manic laughter bubbled out from his rage and adrenaline of excitement boiling through him. It shook his whole body, the sound loud enough to block out any other noise he could hear. “Ha..hahaha.. hahaHAHAAHHAHHAHAHAHHAAHA

“RAQUEL?”

Deryn capitalized on her foe’s fall, attempting to scratch and peck at the defending limbs, growing more and more frustrated. She was too late to join Raquel in the elevator, but that wasn’t so important to her, as long as she caught one of the birds.

“Friend hung you out to dry, huh? Karma sure is a bitch.”

The Dragon and the Phoenix

This was why she disliked the police.

Perhaps it was because she grew up in the East District, where police influence was minimal, but Meirin found a lot of officers useless when it came to protecting New Oasis. She didn’t hate them. They were simply doing their jobs and their goals aligned with true Dragon ideals…but for the most part, they always seemed to show up last minute without doing much but arresting people willy-nilly, showing off their badge, and harassing her friends.

Tossing a disdainful look at the cop that threatened them, Meirin might’ve retorted if she didn’t have more important things to worry about. Vulken hadn’t simmered down. Lyric/Momo floated into invisibility. Weiss looked ready to ice them all. A wall appeared between them and the potential fighters. The Police Captain declared his will to fight. However, the first attack came from neither of three…but an act of Heaven itself?

Having heard Fade’s illusioned voice, the Warden of Eternal Night Place moved to follow after the Azure Dragon’s Ace when the ground beneath her feet violently shook. If not for her extensive training, Meirin might’ve lost her footing. As it stood, the girl regained her center and continued her run–after but a brief stumble–despite the way the streets oscillated like waves.

“What the heck is going on!? I don’t remember an earthquake-warning…”

Then again, it wasn’t as if she had the time to check her phone, nor did she entirely trust the Amestrian government when it came to the prediction of natural disasters. Amidst all the shaking, Meirin could’ve sworn she heard a sound that resembled a…cat? A predatory cat. She glanced briefly back at an innocent-looking alleyway, but it wasn’t as if Meirin was an expert on animals nor did she have time to save a cat. Ahead of her, a family of 4 ducked beneath a patio table as the billboard sign from a shaking building tilted over and fell, threatening to smush the table as well as the people below.

Meirin reacted before she could think (as always).

Growing, the 20 meter tall woman reached forward and caught the billboard with one hand like catching a piece of paper. Studying the picture of an idol of some sort, Meirin tossed the billboard aside, ignoring the look of fear from the people she saved, and glanced down at the Ace of the Azure Dragons. “What now, Ace? Where are we going?”

Ideally, they’d return to the East District, because she was ready to leave this farce of a battle and call it a day, but some meathead Dragons and Phoenixes were still fighting. Kanna and the King were still out there somewhere. A long time ago, the looks she got from NPs in regard to her “scary” potential used to affect her…but now it no longer does. Now she used it as a weapon. After all, it was the Night Lord, and the Azure Dragons, that showed her she had nothing to hide.

They found use for her power and so she would use it to assist the true Dragons bring about peace--with force if necessary.

THICKER THAN WATER
A combination of August's accent and his choice of words made Peyton really confused by his response. What was that supposed to mean? How do dark corridors make someone 'get goin'?' Was August scared of them? Maybe he had something akin to the insatiable instincts that Peyton had? That could explain why he wanted to not miss out on the fun.

Regardless, Peyton decided to comfort August in his own way. He glomped onto August, nuzzling his cheek against the blushing face that August tried his best to hide underneath the collar, "Well, if you're saying that cause you're scared of the dark, don't worry! You've got the biggest monster out there hugging you right now!"

It was quite an ironic thing to say considering Peyton's height... and the fact that the suspiciously absent Takaoana was objectively the tallest monster.

The next moment though, Peyton was distracted by Raphael, draped over Kisara's shoulder, and he hopped off of August. It had been over a year since Peyton had seen his frenemy in the flesh. Quite a few months before Nai informed Peyton that Raph had been kidnapped, and eight months since then. Peyton moved next to Kisara, his favorite friendly rival, and gave her a toothy smile and a wave as he gazed at the man slung over her shoulder. Raph's hair had grown out into a gangly mess, and his face was unusually peaceful. But he was still the same jackass-looking guy he was used to. The same cruelly handsome features. The same alluringly muscular figure.

"Ra~aa~aph?" Peyton drawled out as he poked Raph's shoulder, "You there? It's me! Your favorite enemy! Long time no see!"

He hoped that Raph was still mostly alive. If he coaxed some sort of reaction out of him, and hopefully it was a mean one, then it would be proof that Raph was still holding on to life. Ahh, how Peyton missed Raph. It was good that the wispy-looking man was able to guide them like this.

The nearly nonexistent rational part of Peyton was worried though. Once Raph was lucid enough, Peyton was definitely going to have a confrontation on his hands. Then he would have two choices. Fight all the Serpents and hope that enough of them were apathetic about a fight for Peyton to come out on top. Or flee when he got the chance.

There was also a third option though. Defecting once more. Surrendering himself back to the Serpents. Tri was the King now, and that hopefully meant that Peyton would be spared if he gave himself up.

"You're going to have to decide who you are before the mission is over," his friend Nai had warned him prior to Peyton leaving his apartment. Peyton had dismissed the words as Nai simply trying to convince Peyton to return to his old friends. But when Nai had yawned and stretched to fall down onto Peyton's couch to nap, Peyton questioned whether his assumption was true or not.

The time for Peyton to choose was getting close.

Securing The Future

Corralling "Jane" seemed to be an unnecessary endeavor. With the redheaded woman considered handled after one last threat from Amari, Sophie followed Jesper's cue and left the room...though part of her told her to stay. "Jane" had surrendered far too easily. Still, heading off seemed the better move, so disregarding that gut instinct, Sophia followed the other two. After lingering for even longer than Amari had.

The three made it to their target. If the appearance of Guardian and its escorts wasn't already unusual enough, the spectacle of the doors being slammed open and Guardian shouting at Ariadne would certainly draw eyes up. That, or the gunshot over yonder. Sophie, trusting the other two to handle Ariadne, positioned to watch out of the door for any backup. Standing at the entrance, she listened to the instantly defused hostage situation, the ratting out of "Jane," and Kasumi's message. As Guardian dragged the new captive out of the café, Sophie relaxed the slightest bit. Bad move.

Her turned back also meant that she watched a drone smash the ceiling. And that she watched as the other drones turned to fire on them.

Her only tool to handle them, short of tossing her beloved bottle, would be to try and throw toughened feathers at them. Sure, her throwing arm was up to the task. Sophie closed her eyes and focused on a patch of feathers, which hardened into a honed edge. Taking a deep breath, she grabbed a handful of her feathers and pulled. With a hiss of pain, she now had weapons ready to handle...nothing. By the time Sophie had recovered from the sting, opened her eyes, and drawn a bead, Amari had already handled the drones. Alright.

Sophie stuffed the knife-like feathers into a pocket, ready for later use. While her hand was in her pocket, the rumble of her device got her to pull it out. Another message from Kasumi, with instructions to get back. Another gunshot across the expo made Sophie lift her head.

Short of when she plucked her feathers, she had been dead silent throughout all of this. Sophie turned to Guardian and reached out. "Let me carry Ariadne. I can do the grunt work."

Busy day.

The elevator slowly ascended, shaking with the building as it went, continuing to groan and creak. The ground and walls were splattered with blood now, littered with the two carcasses. It wasn’t long into the journey when the lights flickered off and didn’t return, leaving Raquel in the dark. Eventually, the creaking and shaking worsened as the elevator came to an unsteady stop. After a moment too long of waiting, the door opened, stopping halfway, leaving a smaller exit gap.

What Raquel was met with was clearly not a place for regular casino-goers. A more sterile environment, devoid of the allure of shots and card games, and more notably devoid of people. A reception desk was unmanned, the contents scattered on the floor — telephone, stacks of paper, a smashed monitor. Beyond that were snaking corridors, lined with doors. Each door was labelled with its current purpose, most marked as vacant. If Raquel were to make her way around each door, eventually she would find one marked as occupied.

This was the Ruby Room, reserved for the most important — today, it was Tigers. Before she’d reach it though, she’d meet Taurus. The bull guard was no shorter than 7 foot and appeared to be all muscle. And right now, despite the shaking, he was standing guard, only holding the wall for support.

Jennifer moved to follow along just in front of the Queen, being the last two to enter the Van. When the rumbling began to get a little more than out of hand though, Jennifer began to wonder just what the hell was going on. With the van Speeding away the woman took a firm grip of a railing near the loading door, one likely used for anchoring goods. With little to no visibility in the back of the armoured van and some others blocking her view forward, Jennifer was all too unaware of just how insanely close they had been to death. Of course, she had registered the other's concerns but hadn't really grasped the actual seriousness of those tones used. Feeling they had possibly been heightened due to adrenalin.

That aside, the ride for Jennifer had left her wrist quite bruised and very possibly sprained, it had been a bumpy ride and those last few minutes, well they had been torture. Jennifer had heard crashing water at some stage through it all but it wasn't until she moved to stand and glance out the front window that she realised what exactly it had been. The tunnel having collapsed and the screaming all made sense now in hindsight. "Holy shit...". So that was the tunnel Cal was talking about and that water was...

Even with her Potential still, active Jennifer had managed to be shaken by the sudden reveal. But her emotions were soon forced aside and her mind regained its focus. "I'm fine, my wrist may be sprained and I'm certain I've other bruises unbeknownst to myself but nothing too major." This wasn't true, as Jennifer would move to turn, a loud and wet crack would sound and an agonising scream quickly followed suit. Something very uncharacteristic of Jennifer and all the more cause for alarm to those who knew her. Wincing and biting down hard on her lower lip Jennifer was quick to silence herself. Looking down it became clear very quickly that whatever way she had been bracing against the turns and bumps had left either her left ankle or some other bone in that area broken.

"Ngh! Fuck! Never...ah never mind, somethings broken.". Looking at the Queen, Jennifer's potential began to flicker in and out likely affected by the severe pain she had been ignoring up until now all hitting her at once "Forget that though. Tsk! We need to get out of here before emergency services show up for damage control"

As Matsuda spoke, the Minatos collectively begun to shush him.

”Shh...”
”Wait a sec, wait a sec.”
”Sh, sh, sh, sh!!!”
”Wuzzat?”
”Quiet, maaan. I'm thi—”
”—inkin' here.”
”I GOT IT!”

When one Minato exclaimed his genius, the rest fell silent. The main Minato puffed out his chest, adjusted the invisible pair of glasses, the ones that have circular rims and reflect the light in just the right way—you know the kind I'm talking about—that definitely rested on the bridge of his nose, and began his lecture. But first! Thesis statement.

”What if?” Minato posed. A simple question, for a simple problem, really. It was all so simple. So... Elementary. He went on. ”What if we got rid of some.” Minato declared—not asked, not guessed. And the rest all nodded in approval and understanding. ”I mean, this is obviously,” adjust glasses once more; another flash of light. ”A rudimentary ISIS Puzzle.”

This was met with scratching heads and raised brows from the audience of one (of ten). Minato went on, stroking his chin as if he were a college professor of an old wizard. Something wise. ”Which stands of Identify, sort, index, and solve! We've already done the identifying and sorting... Now we're on to the second 'I', which is Index! And, if we remove the titles of the books that sound like they're extraneous... Extraneous Mentions... Insignificant Words... Petty crimes and other trivial pursuits... Superficial... This is neither here nor there... Ah, ha!”

Minato exclaimed, and the rest leaned in to examine the neat stack of spines that remained. The first letter of each, when strung together, spelt the word D E I T Y.

The Sherlock Minato stared at the books in self-satisfied glory. He'd cracked the case. That is, until a voice from the peanut gallery piped up, asking, ”Well what now?”

Minato's brow quirked in annoyance. ”Well, isn't obvious, isn't it! It's spelt out right there, plain as day! D E I T Y. Deity!”

He glanced from the small squad of his own face staring back at him, to the row of books, and back again. He was waiting for someone to take the baton, to pick up where he left off. He had no idea what to do, now.

The Heist
The drive throught the tunnel was... exhilitarating. Maria, despite being in what was basically a brick with a motor, was thoroughly enjoying how close it was, seeing the water slowly crawl up in her side mirrors. It was a rush that was uncommon from her races these days. It was gonna be close, and with the music reaching its peak, Maria had basically forgotten she was with others, letting her passion as a driver take over. Then, they do it. They reach the exit, and only by a hair. As the van gets blasted out of the tunnel by the water and the van does the midair spin, she cant help but let out a "YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" before retreating into her shadow, allowing her to come out relatively unscathed. Once the van settles, she reappears, chuckling to herself. Damn that was fun, and it only made her more excited for her future plans. I definitely want to now, I'm gonna make a race this city nor the drivers will ever forget. The excitement I feel now won't compare to that day. she thinks, before the sounds of grunts from the back remind her she's not alone, as her eyes, still hidden behind a helmet, change to a look of horror. "I'll get us to a safe house, don't worry." she says, turning the key to the van, which seemed to hold on by pure miracle, as it croaks to life. She expands her shadow to the nearby tunnel and lets some water pour into her shadow pocket. "Not even the water can get you down, huh? You're tougher than you look, brick." she mutters to the van before pulling away. The damage the van had taken was still substantial though, with even the sound system being unfunctional, much to Maria's frustration. She figured driving wildly would not only bring attention to them, but also might kill whatever functionality the van may have. So while the earthquake was taking most of the attention from the authorities, she decides to drive as fast as the van can still go, but avoiding doing crazy turns that could potentially overwork the potentially drowning engine. At the very least, there was no sign of enemies. Still, they needed the safehouse ugently, for both loot and meds. Speaking of meds, Maria sinks a hand into her shadow pocket, using her stored kitana to cut up the now frozen water in her shadow pocket. Stretching her hand to the back area, she drops a pile of ice cubes on the ground. "Use these to ice whatever wounds you have in the meantime" she says.

"Whoa hey now, I dunno where they went." Giles quickly replied as he put his hands up slightly on Noa's approach, especially growing concerned over her crazy looks that stemmed from her anger. "They just kinda... vanished? Like a big black blob came and swallowed them. They were there one moment, then the next they just... poof." It was dead-on the description of what the Phoenixes themselves had faced at the end of their brawl in Sajeem's club, leading to the two Phoenixes to look at one another in knowing. "But I do know where your friend went!" Giles went on to say before scratching his head. "Uh... uhm... hmm..."

It was like a lightbulb fizzled out in his brain. The neurons ceased to fire their pistons as Giles looked confused for a moment before turning to his compatriots. "Oi, where did the dance-guy go!?" he yelled out to them, but only received shrugs in response that indicated bad news. "Oh riiiiight... we *were* high as fuck last night..."

And still now he was, much to the dismay of logic in such a time-sensitive manner. "Oh bugger, I don't think I remember that part... I *do* remember the other parts though. I think. Hard to kinda forget what he did."

"And what did he do?"
Ryoma asked, crossing his arms in anticipation.

Giles gave a smile as he parted his lips to speak...

HITOSHI YAMAKAWA

Phoenixes Arc 3: Scene 1 [Follow the Lightning]

Hitoshi, Noa, Ryoma
FOLLOW THE LIGHTNING

LAST NIGHT...

After his supernova at Hyperstar and going out in a blaze of glory after tanking his reputation there Hitoshi was now, quite literally, in the dumps. Fallen through an open manhole covering and straight into the sewers with a few bottles of liquor on hand. At least here no one was to bother him in his misery as he stumbled through the dark and gulped down both the spirits and the growing acids that wanted to erupt from his gullet. This was not even including the scores of product coursing in his blood at the moment as he waned between hallucinogenic insanity and lucidity. So much so that he discredited the sounds further up the sewers as mere figments of his mind... there was no way anyone was playing music down here.

"Your pal came up to us out of nowhere really, while we were getting our stuff set up still. We're new to the scene here, and we wanted to make ourselves *really* underground. More underground than actual underground music, y'know? But we didn't think anyone would find us un-so-li-ci-ted." Giles explained, setting up the scene for Ryoma and Noa as he continued on with his story.

It wasn't until he was face to face with the old cistern and the blaring of dance music that he realized he wasn't dreaming after all, as Hitoshi quickly stumbled into view of Giles and his compatriots. "We were setting up the sound systems still, getting the kinks out of it." Giles explained to both before moving on.

"What... the fuck?" Hitoshi managed to get out as he looked around, bewildered at their setup entirely as Giles waved a greetings to the man.

"Oh, hey man!" Giles said to Hitoshi on approach, shaking the man's hand without prompting. "Guess you're here for the club? Though we haven't even advertised ourselves yet, must be lucky! Mum always said if you build it, they will come. Hasn't worked the four other times but maybe fifth times the charge, eh?"

Hitoshi stared at Giles with a blank expression for a moment, the words almost sailing over his head before he managed to vocalize: "Uh huh..."

"I know right! Anyway, welcome to *The Underground*! Good name, innit?"

Hitoshi looked around again in confusion before shrugging, "I dunno... seems a bit redundant isn't it? You're already underground."

"Yeah but, we're *actually* underground. Like, the real deal! Not like any other club, for real."

Hitoshi couldn't understand any of this new age crap being espoused and instead moved towards another line of inquiry: "Ok, but how the hell are you gonna get people down into a sewer?"

Giles opened his mouth to answer for a moment before stiiling, realizing what Hitoshi meant by this. "Well... uh... marketing?"

Hitoshi couldn't help but be impressed by the man's optimism, but he also let out a snort of derision as he shook his head. "Yeah, good luck with that." he said as he was ready to walk away, but the man's gasp stopped him.

"W-well, what would *you* do?"

"I guess that made *something* in him spark up, cause he just turned around and started talking to me and my crew about what to do. Especially our music choices... he had some choice words about this." Giles said to Noa and Ryoma in his recounting.

"All these NEW AGE HACKS and their SHITTY songs just repeat the same shit over and over!" Hitoshi explained to the group of wanna be club-runners, who had now gathered around the downtrodden man as if he were a god sent from the heavens to enlighten them. "Oh I'm so SAD! Oh I'm so HAPPY! Let me get something straight, people don't go to dance to LISTEN about some shitty lyrics or opera... they go to MOVE. To FLOW. TO DO SHIT AND LET LOOSE!"

Giles' mouth was agape as he listened to his new sensei's wisdom and greedily drank it up in his own drug-addled brain, before raising his hand: "S-sir... what kind of music should we play then?"

Hitoshi pointed a finger straight towards their main DJ: "Do you know how to make a beat? Sound mix?" he asked, prompting a swift nod from the man who then clarified that it was 'a bit'.

"THAT'S GOOD ENOUGH."

"So then he pulls my guy over to his equipment and the two just... whisper about shit. For like an hour or two." Giles then explains to Ryoma and Noa, "We all wait around and we start to hear a beat... and more! It's like evolution man! Shit's changing in real time... adjusting. Not a single lyric whatsoever. Then, it's *ready*." Hitoshi approached the very centre of the cistern, a pale moonlight from a crack in the road shining visibly upon him as he snapped his fingers for the man to commence what would become the greatest revolution of mankind.

Hitoshi closed his eyes as the beat started to play, his consciousness melting into darkness as he erased all thought. There was room for only the beat, swallowing it whole into his membranes of reality. He could feel the vibrations enter his soul; his cataclysmic, pathetic soul, and in that moment he became something else. He opened his eyes to witness his body doing the work for him of contorting and twisting in all sorts of manner of the new age of dance. In that moment, without pity or fear, he had become a triumph of biological rhythmo-plastics. Ever movement was liberating, and felt that with each step and turn he was healing the wounds he had waged upon his body for so many years.

"Oh my god... no way..." Giles said, his jaw agape as he looked in awe as to what was unfolding in front of him. "W-what's happening?"

"I am become Dance, the destroyer of Worlds."

The words slipped out of his mouth involuntarily, nor without thought as the beat took complete control of his body. Hitoshi's gaze fell onto Giles in that moment and he snarled: "DANCE. It's the *law* in *my* town."

Giles quickly began to bounce up and down before repeating idiotic motions that substituted what he believed to be dance, but failed in any real capacity to embody it truly. Still, the effort was admirable. The others around quickly joined in to become a fluid assembly of waving flesh and flexing bone, losing themselves to the music in the moment as they understood what was to be enlightenment for their cause.

"Ah! I remember now! He stepped away when the song ended... and he left through that tunnel! Without even saying a word..." Giles then spoke up, bringing the trio back to their corporeal reality as he pointed towards the far end of the cistern, which held the opening to another sewer line outwards. A small rumble then filled the cistern, with dust collapsing from the cieling of the area, with the brick, mortar and stone audibly groaning from the strain. "Huh... is this place known for earthquakes? Didn't know that..." Giles commented before nodding to Ryoma and Noa: "Hope you guys find your friend! He's a real one. A true *auteur* of dance."

The conversation seemed to be progressing smoothly. Their disagreements were clear, and Mirza wasn’t prepared to let himself relax, or forget about the circumstances, but the conversation was civil. He had even considered that they may have had more in common than he initially thought. He did notice the woman’s tone, though it wasn’t unexpected after he brought up violence on their end. He had been careful to keep accusations vague, but it was for nought anyway.

“Hm?” Slight puzzlement was showing on the Dragon’s face now. Mirza wasn’t necessarily upset by the interruption. The newcomer’s assertive nature was something he’d appreciate from a fellow Dragon, and more than anything, they gave him an update, even if details were vague. He couldn’t begin to guess what sort of frenzy they had caused, but he made sure not to react to any names listed. He didn’t know their current status, and if Ouroboros had their names, there was a big possibility that things weren’t going well for them. It’s why he kept Mirza separate from Ward when doing dirty work.

Before Mirza had a chance to say anything at all — not that he had much prepared — the man was gone. He looked over at the masked woman with the semblance of a regretful smile.

“My reason for being at the Zhànzhēng Resort today is to maintain the peace. My colleagues are the same. I’m happy to have spoken with you, and I hope we can come to a better understanding of each other another time, but I’m afraid I have to leave now. My time will be better spent there, doing what I went there to do.”

Mirza took his hands away from each other, leaving them at his sides.

“And I’d like to leave peacefully, so please direct me back to the Resort.”

Milo's relief at Gav's acquiescence was short-lived, as no sooner had he moved aside than did the whole world begin to quake. Milo braced himself as the floor beneath his feet began to shift, as one end of the hall collapsed behind him, the ceaseless tremors stranding hapless contestants in its wake. Helpless. That was the word Milo felt aptly described his current predicament. He stumbled as the heavy, concussive thundering of Gav's mountainous footfalls compounded the impact of the earthquake upon his tenuous balance.

Still, he saw the light at the end of the tunnel. Literally. The exit was right there. He could make it if he ran. Easily. Even without his Potential... And yet. The sounds of screams and desperate cries gnawed at him. He turned over his shoulder toward the pit of despair, and the cloying hands that reached for aid. He turned to the exit, the glimmer of sunlight, of safety. He had to make a choice.

With a groan that led him straight into a resigned sigh, Milo peeled his eyes away from the large gap in the wall that Gavril had opened, and turned to the nearest contestant struggling for purchase up the slippery slope of the hall. Sidling along the creaking path, Milo braced himself against the handrail and extended his arm, reaching for them.

"T-... Take my hand!"

As everyone indicated they were otherwise mostly unharmed, Ryu gave a slight nod from under his mask and turned to Maria as she got the armored van up and running again. Another rumble hit the area, with shards of glass falling from above as windows broke from the earthquake's continued impact on the city as a whole. Another reminder that they needed to get going; the whole disaster had Ryu thinking not of the impact, but rather the opportunities it presented. Vast swathes of the city would like be in disarray, and thus open to his holdings... particularly after he deals with G&G in what he had obtained from their box. But first, they needed to get out-

The Tigers' earpieces all burst alive as communications were restored, with a frantic Cal on the other side: "LOOK OUT-" was all he managed to get out as an explosion hit the back of the van. The impact of such a violent impact tore off the back axel of the van entirely and flung the Tigers inside violently as the vehicle swung about. Ryu's ears rang from the explosion, though he quickly scrambled up from the floor and staggered towards the doors. He took a moment to speak, but coughed violently as smoke began to coalesce before he could. "MOVE!" he shouted as a simple command, before practically kicking off the backside doors of the armored van as their immediate exit.

The influx of oxygen provided some breathing space for the Tigers as they scrambled to get out as well, but what Ryu realized was that the Twins had followed them here. Vile was missing an arm still, but a tourniquet had been applied that stemmed whatever other loss of blood he had earlier; but this was not the Queen's concern as Smile stood next to him, holding a *grenade launcher* that was primed and ready to fire again. And it was pointed straight at him.

A split second decision Ryu made was to dash out of the way of the van and in turn redirect their attention to fire solely on him. A click hit the air along with a audible thump as the next projectile was launched towards his position. Ryu quickly braced himself, his eyes flashing with power under his mask again before another resounding explosion hit the area as his position was enveloped in fire and smoke from the new impact, Much to the shock of Samira as she was first to clamber out of the van and witness the apparent demise of the Tiger Queen. She quickly turned about and pointed her pistol at the Twins, who now celebrated with cackles as Smile dropped his launcher to the ground and pulled out a knife again.

"You've caused SO MANY issues for us today. But now, we get to finish this." Smile rejoiced with a sinister tone, dropping all pretenses of his original demeanour as he flipped his dagger through his fingers with ease. "Easy picking for us... wouldn't you say brother?"

Vile only replied with a guttural growl as he brandished his own knife. He was practically salivating at the chance to deal with these nuisances once and for all, now that their ringleader was out of the picture. His mind was clouded by the rage of losing hand better arm, and now sought to take it out in the worst ways possible. "I... WANT... HER..." he managed to vocalize, aiming his blade directly at Jennifer as she joined the other Tigers outside on the street. But his words were much more sinister than what he had spoken at the bank, now that he was completely irrational and fueled by hate.

Smile in the meantime motioned his blade and laughed: "Good choice brother... any volunteers for me?" he asked rhetorically.

"Go fuck yourself." Samira snarled out as she itched her finger on the trigger, ready to dump a full clip into them despite how futile an exercise that was given their powers.

"Aha... I think I might go with you then... carve out your face... then your insides... spread them out like wings!" Smile shot back, before cackling again. "Though maybe... I'll go for you." He pointed towards Camila, "Make a mosaic from your blood... painted all over the walls nearby. How's that sound?"

The Dragon and the Phoenix

Libla was caught entirely off guard, by Lyrics hostile voice, not something she was use to from Lyric, and quickly new that something was off with them, at first she thought it could possibly be a imposter. But then their potential was used, forcing them to let their board disappear, so that she could allow her shadows to cover her feet, with a quick enough reaction time she was able to land on their feet and slide on the ground. Still it was clear that she was now confused as to what was going on, as she continued to hold the orb in hand, and a bunch of new faces began to make their appearance. It was too much of a worrying scene for Libla to allow Lyric to be risking herself in, though she was still suspicious as to what was going on, that was till she saw YY running away with Kaedas body in tow. She honestly didn't think too much of things before, but recalling the fight from earlier, she recalled the sudden stopping happening when Kaeda touched Lyric before then fainting. She figured it had to be connected somehow, but after a moment of looking of the players, she began to recognize the woman who was able to grow big as a Dragon one of their enemies. It started to dawn on them that whatever YY and Kaeda were doing was probably not for good, and they were probably trying to cause harm to Lyric, still though she didn't want to believe it. YY did seem friendly when she appeared after all, unless that was a attempt to get them to lower their guard and get them to come down in order to kill them, with their new Dragon friends. It was a long shot, of a theory but Libla didn't want to really believe that some of her Phoenix comrade would betray the entire gang for a few Dragons.

Still though, she wouldn't know if she didn't confront their old comrades, so with the Shadow Orb in hand, Libla started to look towards chasing after YY, until Vulken entered the picture. Libla was a bit relieved to see him, but she figured that she should focus on her mission, seeing that Vulken was strong and get things under control, she gave him a mock salute that she doubted he would be able to see, due to the vial of darkness, before then yelling out "Good luck Draken, don't get yourself hurt!" before taking on a more serious tone and storming towards YY. When the sudden wall appeared as if out of thin air, Libla was undeterred only going to increase her speed, and just as she had reached the wall she made a move to put her foot on it in order to run up and over it, but instead of her foot connecting with concrete, it connected with nothing forcing her to nearly lose her footing and make a hard effort to avoid falling down on her face.

Libla was confused but when she eventually regained her footing , she simply continued running towards the direction YY went, now more cautious of what was real and what wasn't. Liblas grip on the orb of darkness she had tightened as she zoomed forward, the more she thought of the situation, the more anger she started to feel at the potential of being betrayed by some of the people she trusted. Eventually YY was within their holding on to the body of Kaeda, spurred on by emotions and the sight of YY Libla zoomed past, YY stopping only when she was half a mile in front of them before shouting our to the "Velvet! Interloper! Whatever you did to Lyric, you better stop it right now, or i'll take you down!" she doubted it was very intimidating, anyone that knew her would know she was probably the least intimidating of Helvas Shadow friends, but she was still determined to protect the Phoenixs, most especially Lyric, and she had no idea what YY was doing. But before she could continue a rumble had happened shaking the ground beneath them Libla immediately jumped into the air allowing her hoverboard to materialize in order to avoid touching the ground and more quickly dodge whatever falling debris that came falling to the ground from the massive earthquake. The ordeal was confusing as she thought it was probably someone's potential, as the timing seemed so strange for a earthquake to happen in the middle of a event like this, where so many HPs from almost all the gangs were gathered.

They figured something out, but the Minatos were at a loss. It was safe to assume that Matsuda was at a loss, too. Even Zygarde was confused at what to do now.

Luckily, Kiwi was watching, and the speaker inside the backpack buzzed on. “Grab tha’ fuckin’ book!”

Zygarde stood to attention, tilting his head to the side to clamp the “Imagine, My Apollo” book in its jaws. Pulling on it, a small compartment hidden in the shelf the books sat upon opened.

Inside was a folded up piece of paper. Written on it was an address, and an accompanying note.

“hey < 3 sorry about that had to make sure you guys would put in the work < 3 thanks < 3”

…What a waste of time.

Especially considering the building began to shake, threatening to drop the bookshelf right on top of the puzzle solvers.

“Ay, take cover!” was the last, shaky sentence spoken from the speaker before it turned off.

…Kiwi probably wasn’t going to return with more instructions today.

The dog looked up to the others. He never experienced an earthquake before. He was scared, evident by his sudden barking and whining.

The already dim lighting flickered and the window beside the wall of Minatos shattered. It was crowded and uncomfortable and the bookshelves were still trembling.

Yet, the dog —still loud and afraid— stayed with the boys. He waited for their move, as they were his top priority. Not that he didn’t try to command them with yelps.
