Yulia nodded along as Miss Wonder vaguely rambled her way from subject to subject. She'd heard tell along the grapevine that the white-haired woman was amongst the more peculiar of the Tigers, but she'd thought it had just been gossipers going what gossipers do: Exaggerating. It was egg on her face, then, that she could hardly follow what the woman was saying, doing, and craving. Icecubes and Hamburger Helper was not a gastronomic combination she'd ever expected to see in her life. Or, at least, not outside of a radioactive trailer park.

Elias, the first of the Tiger's illustrious Posh Bastards, on the other hand, seemed to be maintaining a slightly better connection to the physical realm, what with his actual comprehension of the rising ruckus from below.

Yulia groaned in her seat. She had really, honestly, just come to this party to relax, chat shit, and maybe grease up some of her fellow Tigers. Playing Keeper of the Peace was supposed to be even less in her cards than usual, which was quite a difficult fault considering she'd never kept any peace in her life in the first place.

But. But, she considered, maybe that'd be a good way to do that aforementioned greasing she'd come here to do.
~
The familiar aroma of arid, desert air filled Yulia's nostrils. Coarse soil that rode the border between dirt and sand replaced the comfortable, high-end cushion she'd been sat upon, and a forgiving, heatless sun hung high above her head.

As it always did, the gas station that served as the sole attraction in Yulia's desolate inner realm loomed glumly over the arid shrublands, which were otherwise flat and unintriguing. Within, a glistening collection of trinkets, tools, and other miscellaneous valuables contrasted both the rickety shelves they lay upon, and the general aesthetic of the building as a whole. Glittering gold lay in piles atop dusty countertops, weapons were stacked on shelving clearly marked 'Soup and Dried Meats', and a stack of vaults sat next to a fridge that barely looked like it could function.

Yulia was many things, but an interior decorator was not one of them.

Her finger dragged across the rough, hand-cut wood of the soup-section shelves as she browsed her selection of weaponry. The bat was too boring. The chainsaw was too psychotic. The stun gun and pepper spray were both funny, but probably not what she was looking for, which was to make a point.

So...
~
Yulia reappeared inside of the penthouse with a loaded shotgun in her hands. Seeing as she wasn't actually planning to blow anybody's brains out, the only shells she'd bought with her were the ones she had already loaded into the gun, which she would soon see to using.

There was a semblance of either confidence or brashness in Yulia's gait as she pushed past Elias, giving him a nod that intended to communicate the general idea of 'Let me handle this, pretty boy' as she passed him by. The shotgun, which she was holding aloft and pointed skyward, wobbled drunkenly in her grip as she approached the interior veranda that overlooked the lower floor. She briefly eyeballed the crowd below, sifting through the various clusters of bodies and activities that littered it, but quickly gave up on pretending to do this subtly, and fired the shotgun into the air.

The explosive crack of ignited gunpowder filled the air, and the room went quiet. Yulia let the firearm fall from the air, resting it against the railing that lay at the veranda's edge as she regarded the shocked-silent crowd below.

"Hey." As if it were riding the crowd's newborn silence like a sled did fresh snow, Yulia's voice effortlessly glode across the room below. "Which one of you kids is kicking up the ruckus? We're here to have fun, aren't we? Let's not let things get ugly." Yulia's voice was flat as she addressed the crowd. If she was being honest, she didn't really care what they got up to if they left her alone, but her help had... sort of... been asked for, and she figured there was no harm in giving it.

VULKEN BECKMAN

Phoenixes Arc 1: Scene 3 [Training Day]
LOCATION:
Central-Connected Bridge

CURRENT STAGE:
1
TRAINING DAY

Before the burst of heat that signaled his entry into Stage 1 shot out at the two, Vulken caught a glimpse of... something. The sight alone forced his eyes to widen and allow flecks of sunlight to bounce off of them like warm autumn leaves floating about in a river of liquid gold, and for a moment-- a fleeting second, made him question whether or not burning everything in his vicinity was worth it. It touched his soul. Something divine-- a work of art that rivaled greatness and truly captivated him enough to briefly activate every single neuron in his body.

Pure, natural, unadulterated, five-star ASS.

And it was waving hello to him.

Or, so he thought. As the heat exploded from him, he even felt his hand raising to wave back. Thankfully, the success of the attack brought him back to reality and stopped him from making a complete fool of himself. As he watched Reika's body--including the backside he had just been marveling at-- become scorched with blisters, he couldn't help but feel a little bad. Not only had he just burned his Queen (which was, surprisingly, something he had become fairly used to by now), but he had also put a rookie in jeopardy. Not only that, but he had also made a grave mistake by letting his anger get the best of him.

He had given Reika another weapon to use against them.

He watched as the horned woman threw Dimitri onto a passing truck, leaping onto it herself shortly after. It didn't take long for the driver to realize that not one, but two monsters had begun to occupy his vehicle, and the truck began to violently swerve left and right, making his panic more than clear. Vulken, on the other hand, saw this as his free getaway chance. There was no way they were expecting him to follow after a moving truck on a bridge, right? So, he turned on his heels to face his car, and began to make his way towards it. He'd cool off and be out of his first stage in no time--

"Come on Vulken, get on! I still need to get you back for hitting me with your attack!"

"Huh?" he said to himself, turning his head to see his two gangmates still neck-and-neck with each other.

He looked at his car.

Then back to them.

Back at his car.

But--

Back to them.

"God damn it," He groaned to himself, making sure his car was locked before breaking out into a full sprint towards the truck.

"Both of these motherfuckers are batshit crazy... What the hell didja get yourself into, Vulken!?" He scolded himself. It was quite the dilemma. He didn't want to continue to fight with his red-headed MANIACS, but if he chose to drop out of the fight right there and go home, Reika would surely find him and do something even worse in the very near future. Quite the dilemma, indeed.

With every running step, he felt his body temperature rising even more. Now, Reika was the one who had made a grave mistake, evening out the score. Sure, Stage 1 made him faster, but he still had a long way to go before he could catch up with a speeding truck on foot. So, halfway into his dash, he crouched. And with a burst of energy, he launched himself into the air, propelling himself onto the truck with a not-so-smooth landing and standing up to face the two with clenched fists.

"Alright, Alright. I'm here, damn it... I'm here."

He removed his black jacket and neatly placed it onto the floor, before quickly rushing into the battle himself. He rushed to get behind Reika again. When your partner-in-combat is using a fucking sword, it's best to stay out of their blood-circle. With a burning hot leg, he aimed a heat-infused kick directly to the woman's head. Hopefully his kick wouldn't hit hard enough to destroy that pretty face of hers.

Cops being around were undoubtedly a problem. The boss being around… was a much bigger problem. He didn’t know just how much he should devolve to his coworker, but he wasn’t about to leave them going in the dark.

“Bad.”

He said the word quickly with a twitch of his fingers reaching towards his hidden knives. Despite knowing it was better to get all the cards on the table he didn’t want there to be any chance that his fellow gang member would try to scram before they could get going.

“Let's just say it sounded like their boss was on the move and we do not want them reaching HQ-”

He turned back to Sang-Cheol and would have continued to explain if not for the quick blur at the corner of his eye. He snapped his head to the side to look closer at the blur only for it to continue past him. He looked back to Sang and stood as still as a stone watching the newcomer crawl over Sang.

“Wha- ah. Sure? More hands the better. Don't blame me if you regret it though.”

It would look like it happened to be more than a couple of cops. Seeing Snake's expression change made Sang-Cheol wary of this situation. In any case, he reached out to his trusty handgun. It's more than enough to bust a cap in someone's ass whenever he brought it out. He nodded to Snake, but before he could, he felt a heavyweight on his back. Anything that Snake had said in the past minute went from one ear out of the other.

The first thing Sang-Cheol felt was a surprise. What was happening? Why the hell is something on my back? Are we under attack?

"Oh," Sang-Cheol said as he stumbled under the newfound weight. Then he realized that newfound weight was a person who was, from what he assumed, taller than him and heavier than him. Going by what the fucker was saying, he wanted to join them.

The second thing that Sang-Cheol felt afterward was anger. What the fuck is this guy doing? Why is he so fucking heavy? Is it possible to ask Snake if he could mutilate this man and incinerate him?

None of these thoughts were voice as Sang-Cheol's flushed with anger before shifting back to a calm expression. Contrary to his look, he did his best to lock Yuto's limbs with his arms and proceeded to attempt to slam him against the wall right behind him. "I'd appreciate it if you got off of me," Sang-Cheol growled. Granted, that would be hard to do since Sang-Cheol already had attempted to slam the Rookie against the nearest wall.

He didn't necessarily care if Snake yelled at him for attacking a fellow gang member, but Sang-Cheol was already in an irritable mood. First, the drugs failed, then he had to babysit a shit ton of workers, he had to leave it to Vice of all people to watch the lab, afterward, a bunch of cops decided to snoops, and on top of that, he had to deal with this man child jumped onto his back.

Helva watched the scene unfold as Hide was overtaken by the crowd, Helva didn't even flinch though knowing he would be fine enough, her interest was more so on the girl in Pink. "The girl in pink, I'm pretty sure she is a HP with a potential that influences others, a command type of potential, pretty sure she is the leader of the party or atleast one of the main bodies of command, their are likely more HPs in the crowd as well, I would suspect the one that Hide tried to take hostage is one of them. Zulin, go talk to her, be sure to get Hide out of there, and try not to do any unnecessary violence." Zulin only chuckled a bit as he then proceeded to take out his weapon and detach the silencer, before throwing the silencer towards Helvas direction, in which case she caught it out of pure reflexes. Zulin then pranced off towards the boat waving back at Helva as he said "Sure thing Helly!". Helva got off of her cars hood and placed the silencer back into the trunk of her car, rubbing her eyes in annoyance once she had done so, she then got in front of her car in order to face the direction of the boat, not bothering to close the trunk of her car yet, just in case she needed to go in herself.

She really didn't want to crash this party, but Hide being Hide always had to complicate things and now she has to bail him out, again, just another day of working with the Phoenixs she supposed. She thought a bit and went back to the trunk of her car to grab a G18 and loaded it, before holstering it in her hidden gun pouch, just in case things turned super sour she figured being armed would help quite a bit in case she had to rush down there.

Zulin was pretty ecstatic with how things are playing out, there has been quite a bit of chaos with and he would get to talk to the cute pink girl, maybe even shoot her if things didn't go his way. Zulin put his gun away and allowed shadow claws to form on his hand, he then jumped onto the hull of the boat and climbed it up, in order to avoid the large crowd gathered outside and leaving a few claw marks in his wake. When he finally got on the ship he was quiet a ways away from the Hide and the woman in pink but he simply weaved his way towards their direction and when he was finally close enough, he pulled out his gun and fired it into the air with a smile on his face in order to make his presence known. When he figured he had gotten everyones attention he looked across the crowd and then spoke "Hello everyone! Spellbinder, Party goers, Cute girl in pink. I'm here for Spellbinder over there, he is kinda with me and if you would be so kind enough as to give him back, we could perhaps continue this fun little party without anyone getting hurt.... If not though, then i suppose we will just have to have a even more fun party for me, and a less fun party for you." At the last part, Zulins eyes turned black as they let out a sinister smile towards the group. But after a moment he then closed his eyes as he let out a more innocent smile towards the group. "But you guys wouldn't want that now would you? Right pinky? We are only really here to talk to you after all, no one has to get hurt, once you release Spellbinder over there we can have a nice civil conversation, just you and me, and maybe spellbinder, what do you say?"

Isobel watched as dusk turned to night and the last sun rays of the day enveloped everything it touched in hues of golds and purples. In the distance, the silhouette of the city’s skyline, barely visible from the window of her apartment, pierced through the warm glow like a jagged mountain ridge and the dense mass of skyscrapers glittered under the fading daylight. Still, the hustle and bustle never ceased and the encroaching darkness only seemed to breathe renewed life into the city. There were many things wrong with the city but at the very least, New Oasis definitely did its name justice.

Aristotle leaped up on to the couch and stretched before settling lazily next to Isobel's leg. Absent-mindedly, she reached out and gently ran a hand across his smooth grey coat. In the background, the evening news played on the old radio she had found and fixed up only several weeks back. It was a lovely thing from the 1980s with knobs that you could turn and an antenna you had to adjust just right otherwise all you'd end up with was static. Nothing like the tiny, sleek, metal boxes they sold in shops these days. Before, she would loiter in the corner shop down the street every evening pretending to shop for groceries just so she could catch the headlines. She was pretty sure the owner eventually figured out what she was doing but he never said anything. The last few times she stopped by she even noticed that he would even turn the volume up just a little.

"Good evening New Oasis, it's 7 o'clock and here are tonight's headlines. Gang activity has been on a rise over last several months. Police are urging citizens who may have any information to come forward..."

There was something sinister going on the city. There had been for a long time, but somehow they always managed to pass under the radar of the police force or if it got picked up, there was rarely enough evidence for them to pin it on any of the gangs. As much as the authorities would like to believe otherwise, the gangs were the ones in charge of New Oasis. They were the ones that held the power and it was a constant back and forth.

"In other news, Hamburger Helper is celebrating their 40th Birthday! Until the end of the year, Hamburger Helper is offering customers 40% off on all their products!"

Isobel rolled her eyes and went over to turn off the radio. Grabbing her denim jacket, which was far too large and swallowed her petite frame, she stepped out of her apartment and headed out into the night.

New Oasis was always the most alive at night with its sea of neon lights, large digital screens fixed to the side of buildings flashing advertisements for anything and everything, and loudspeakers on shop fronts blasting exaggerated hip-hop bass lines. Groups of college students could be seen spilling out of bars laughing and intoxicated, girls with brilliant bleached hair and healthy legs thrusting out from micromini skirts, couples dressed to the nines making their way to dinner at the newest celebrity restaurant, and businessmen still in their suits enjoying beers with their colleagues after a long day at the office. There was something for everyone here.

Standing in front of the towering building in which the Tiger's penthouse suite was located Isobel mentally noted the extreme flaunting of wealth that was on brand for the gang. Does the rich man pray for his own salvation while those under him toiled in hell? Shaking the thoughts clear from her mind, the young woman stepped into the lift that would take her to the top floor. As the doors opened, Isobel found herself immediately sucked into a crowd. The mood was electric, people feeding off the endlessly flowing drinks and heavy music. Isobel hated all of it. Pulling her jacket tighter around herself as if it was some sort of shield, she slipped past the dancing bodies and headed towards the marble staircase that led to the VIP area; And within it, Markus' office. This was after all the only reason she was here. To get her next job.

The VIP area was filled with a host of colorful characters, veterans and rookies alike. Checking the main table perched on a platform, she noticed Yulia alongside two vaguely familiar faces (she wasn't one to keep track of new members), but no King. Without so much as a glance at anyone else, she made a beeline for Markus' office. At the door, the guards momentarily stopped her, confused by her underdressed appearance, before one of them recognized who she was and embarrassedly stepped aside. As he did so, she heard some commotion break out on the dance floor below followed by a loud gunshot causing Isobel to flinch. Swearing internally, she quickly closed the door behind her, temporarily separating herself from the chaos on the other side. Rubbing her eyes, she let out a long sigh of relief. This had better be worth her time.

The High Life
Of all the things Callahan was expecting, a gunshot was not one of them.

He was already rather late, anyhow. The whole “gang life” schtick was still a rather new concept to Callahan, so the orders and operations were hardly any different.

The city was his home, of course. The way the breeze chilled as the sun fell below the tops of the city was natural to Callahan. He was able to time, with the snap of his fingers, the instant in which the street lights flicked on. Time and time again, he had been made to work long enough that their cycle was a part of his. The activity of the sidewalks and alleys studied from years of working above them was second nature to navigate through; after years of spectating the world from a bird’s eye view.

But now, he was at the hands of his own devices. When the breeze struck, Callahan had already yanked his jacket taut around his hefty frame, and had buttoned it from top to bottom. It’s worn folds flapping about at the hem, which would have allowed the air to flow up from underneath, before Callahan jammed his hands down the pockets, and held it all tight together.

This part of the city was a new one, however. Eventually, during his trip, Callahan had made his way into the Albino Tigers’ territory. It was fresh ground, and he had been wandering it for just over half an hour, now. Looping about, losing track of himself, checking the details of the location again, and then beginning the search anew. Not that the sightseeing bothered him, of course, but there was word of a party going on that night, and Callahan was more than eager to see what kind of high life this gang had in store.

It was while Callahan had paused to check his map once more, an old school, paper rendition of the west side that he had to turn every which way, that he noticed a figure hurrying past him. Something was speeding through the streetlight he was under, and when he turned to look, he caught a glimpse of a particularly well dressed hostess, carrying a box of… Hamburger Helper, under her arm? It all seemed odd enough to be linked to at least something to do with the gang, for what Callahan had heard of everyone, so he followed along after the Hamburger Hostess as she strode along on her mission.

She was hurrying so fast, even, that Callahan had to choose between matching her pace, or keeping his. So, in the end, she sped on out of sight. Leaving Callahan to follow in the same general direction.

Which worked out surprisingly well. After a few more minutes of walking, Callahan was near enough to recognize the Tigers’ Penthouse as it stood tall and proud further on down the street. The hostess had already slipped inside by the time Callahan reached its steps. Which, he stopped to inspect, on his approach. As well as the furbished walls, windows, and rooftop. He found himself looking beyond the excessive, posh details and partygoers he could hear through the first floor window panes. Instead soaking in, with his eye for construction, the structural masterpiece for a minute or two. At least until he started to consider how much work it would have taken to properly build so much as the ornate, sturdy steps he was standing on. That part of Callahan's reverie was enough to make him feel tired, just thinking about all the effort this structure had required. So onwards he went.

No sooner had Callahan approached such a magnificent piece of architecture, however, and had freed a hand from its pocket to turn the door’s handle, than a gunshot had rang out on the other side. Silence had ensued, as far as Callahan could hear, so he waited a moment. Sticking his other hand under his jacket for his handy-dandy ladder rung, and squeezing his burly self inside as quietly as he could. Chuckling, and muttering under his breath as he went,

“Ah boy, so this is the life, is it?”

It seems as though there was a little bit of miscommunication between Lorrin and Vahn he had thought he was going to set up an ambush but instead it was to cause some sort of distraction for what reason Lorrin will likely never know. Within moments, the trio had a few eyes on them but if anyone out there knew better they would stay out of this or else risk them selfs in the process. This is one of the more annoying things when comes to working for others you have to take into account not only your own possible errors but everyone’s else as well, something he’ll have to take more into account as time goes on. Still thou it might possible to take advantage of this situation. He turned his attention back towards the red figure lady as she tries to taunt him back. “Well ya there are plenty of ways to find people with even less information than you have even given me for years. Do you actually believe it’s below our organization to do the same?” After saying this the figure started to run away Lorrin would let loose a few bullets as she did but nothing that would hit, unfortunately. “She’s getting away after her!” Lorrin would fallow after her from the streets below shoving anyone that would get his way. Occasionally he would try to fire a few rounds but to no avail. Then he saw it a knife coming towards their direction without a care in the world on where it might hit has she gone mad with her cause that citizens are just a minor annoyance just what is her goal. But she did just give him the opportunity he needed to use a bit of his potential but this is going to leave a mark. Biting his tongue he moved in the direction of the knife shoving someone out of the way who had only been filming on his phone “Move dumb ass” the knife would hit on the arm leaving tare in his sleeve as wells a nasty cut but if anyone had paid attention when the knife hit him brief light glow would appear to lessen the blow making the damage far less saver then it would have been. Lorrin would grab the knife from where it landed. “I’ve danced the danse macabre likey far longer than you have, so yes id be glad to think you can keep up?” The white glow would appear in his hands this time as thrown the knife back at her as the force he has absorbed from the blow goes into the throw and adding his already preexisting skill in knives as well as his own force, the knife had gone faster than the original individual who threw it. But the strange’s thing is he didn’t aim for any spot particularly on her but instead the article of clothing she had been using to hide behind. “But I have to say it is rather rude not to show your face to your dance partner.”

To Tri’s reaction, a rumbling chuckle came from Bear Yuudai, which someone could think to mistake as a growl if they weren’t paying any attention. “Good. You need more practice.

He watched as Tri obediently picked up the people he could carry. Yuudai got down on all fours. “Feel free to stack some on my back. Gonna try to just take one trip back to the caravan. Don’t mind my stuff, I’ll fucking get it.

At Kisara’s entrance, Yuudai twitched a nose at her, “You keep complaining, you’ll get a wallop of paws.” He contemplated if he should attempt toughing that girl up or taking her phone away.

His tiny ears flickered, “Can’t even pay attention when your phone is off. Remind me to get one of the Docs to check your ears. Like. Deacon. Deacon, check her ears when we finish up, would’ya?

Delynn then fancied rejoining her conscious with the rest of the team, but Yuudai applauded the rookie for not electrocuting everyone and everything in her vicinity. It meant she was really trying to garner control of her ability.

The bear sauntered over to where he initially shifted, seeing his phone light back up. He read a text on his screen that read “911.

A grunt of displeasure snorted from him as he shifted back, in the nude with not a care. He grabbed his gun and his pants, “Hurry the fuck up, now!

Tossing his pants on, he tied his undershirt around his waist and threw his jacket on without buttoning up. He didn’t have time to waste to dress properly.

Rushing over to the bodies, he grabbed the man he punched the lights out on earlier and the one Yeona dropped on Delynn. If there was anyone else, Yuudai instructed someone to grab them.

A huff of air was forced out of Yuto's lungs as he was slammed against- what he assumed was- a wall behind him. A bubble of laughter erupted from Yuto's throat. This guy was fun! Still smiling, he gingerly caressed Sang-Cheol's hair. His back now ached, but Yuto shut it out, exclaiming happily, "You're so silly! I didn't know you liked to joke like that! " Yuto did find Fire Guy's playful bantering harsh, but he didn't mind it all too much. He could adjust!

Chuckling, Yuto's fingers in his hair tightened, tugging his head back and pressing one of his hand's nails into Sang's neck. He didn't do it hard enough to draw blood of course, they were just playing after all! " See! I could do it too!" He giggled, feeling proud of how fast he adjusted to Sang's style of play.

As much as he was enjoying this, he now felt the pressure pushing against his spine a bit too uncomfortable to stand. Wiggling himself, he pushed against his comrade's back, struggling against his hold. With one big shove, he pushed Sang away from him and toppled to the ground. Yuto shook his head. He felt a light ache from where his head hit the wall on his way down.

With a pout, he got himself up and shook his shoulders, now turning his attention to Snake. Trotting over to him, not having learned his lesson- he jumped onto Snake's back this time, throwing his arms around his neck. He put his chin on the Queen's head and made a cheeky giggle. " Heheh so! What is exactly happening that made you two seem so worried hm?"

Cars screeched to a grinding stop, car doors swung open or slammed shut, feet squelched in mud when they weren’t on the pavement, the sound of guns having their safety removed permeated the air.

On the radio, a woman’s voice could be heard by the uniformed people, “10-23; are you guys on scene?”

“Yes Ma’am,” a person standing tall amongst the group radioed back. He seemed to be the head honcho in this here group.

Her response was, “Do not underestimate them under any circumstances.”

“Copy.”

The radio fell silent.
ZQ9Y4QR.png

Alright Fuckers! The man’s voice boomed, his tone was aggressive. He wore a blue uniform, but he refused to wear the hat that everyone else seemed to wear. Maybe for good reason, as what was upon his head were two fluffy-looking triangles that almost seemed to blend with his spiky white hair… Ears that had black tips. A tail spilled out from behind him, though at the current moment was still.

“This group is dangerous, but Captain bade us to take care of these snakes and we’re going to do her fucking proud, you hear me, you shits?!”

The men and women of the group nodded. It seemed they were used to the verbal abuse. The man meant well. “Yessir Sir Vargfang!”

There was no chance that they’d be able to do any sneaking. It was known the gang had people full of potentials of all shapes, sizes, and abilities. Essentially, it would have to be an all-or-nothing situation.

Congratulations! The Serpents in We’ll Do It Live are surrounded.

“Guess we’re about to find out.” The taller man said, peering ahead through a pair of tinted goggles. “You take one half. I’ll take the other.” He paused long enough to take one last long drag from his cigarette before flicking it into the mud. “Meet in the middle.”

“... Right on! Let’s go.”

Running would only take them so far. Luckily it seemed their little dragons had given up the chase. They passed out of the fog and reached closer to the road leading to the bridge to central. He let go of her hand to pull out a revolver from his coat, brandishing it low by his hip. It would do frighteningly to HPs but they had odds in their favor to obtain a car, and more importantly a driver.

The girl released the boy’s hand.

Their first choice for the driver was… occupied at the moment. While unfortunate it was just how the cookie crumbled. He tapped a button on a small hidden earpiece.

“Lupine to BabyBlue. Destination one reached. Acquiring transportation. Locking in targets.”

After the transmission was done he tapped off the earpiece once more. He gave her a short nod as he ran for a nearby convertible raising the gun to the driver.

“Hey there, we’re going to need your services for a bit. Don’t worry though you can bill this to the Dragons.”

“Lulu, that man can spirit us away from Doom.” She smiled but the smile didn’t meet her eyes. “Do you think Ghoul will make it?”

He gave her a smile that showed he had every faith in Ghoul holding his own and collecting the others.

She swept her butterfly-covered fabric aside to show off the sword on her hip as she hopped over the door into the vehicle, indeedly not using the door, and stood on the seat.

“Your services are required for the Deathly Dragons. Stay in your vehicle.” Her skin became matte in appearance.

Lupine put his safety back on the gun once more as he hopped behind the driver. Once he was seated properly he took the safety off once more and got in position in the car to start a drive-by shooting.

Drive

As the driver continued his eyes continued to pick out cars. The crowd had thinned of the majority of average citizens leaving behind truckers, the usual johns coming into the district for some “fun”, and a few poor saps that would be wildly regretting their choices soon. He raised the gun with both hands before popping a few shots at an eighteen-wheeler coming up working to off the entire line of tires. As the fifth went down the truck started to tilt down clearly losing control.

The butterfly-clothed girl looked down at the driver to ensure that he was complying as she unsheathed her sword. She brought the blade up to her face as she inspected the edge.

With a quick swipe, she held the blade over the side of the car, a car in the right-hand lane getting a scratch that was worse than keys along the body. Sparks flew.

“Hm. My blade will need to be sharpened after this.”

Titus’ face went momentarily blank, his eyes trailing off as if he were lost in thought. As if he were listening to something... Ezra’s insistence that he drink the tea was the first thing that pulled his attention back firmly into his immediate surroundings.

pXe3KFF.png

"Hm? No! Er— no, I-i couldn’t possibly, m’boy! M’lady, ahem…”

Titus cast Alice another askance glance, only this time his lechery had been supplanted by fear. He squirmed like a worm in his chair wriggling to escape the snatching talon’s of the raptor. Ezra’s insinuation that he may be cheating succeeded in getting a rise out of the rotund man.

pXe3KFF.png

"I say, m’boy. T-that’s a bold claim… Bold… and preposterous!”

Titus’ eyes flitted from Ezra to the new set of drawn cards. His eyes widened with understanding at the mention of the wager. He relaxed only slightly when Cassidy brought the new wager back down to a more reasonable one million.

pXe3KFF.png

"Y-yes, indeed..! One million. Let’s not get too hasty, m’boy! The night is young, gyuhuhu!”

Titus pretended not to hear Cassidy’s mention of Alice’s tea. One thing was obvious… He did not want to drink it. As Charmy rejoined their table, the three drew their cards. Titus, Ezra, and their new joiner Cassidy, whose studying gaze Titus had tried to avoid.

Ezra turned his card first. Six of Clubs. Titus breathed a little easier.

Titus flipped his card next. Six of Hearts. An equal draw. This would mean war, unless...

Cassidy flipped her card last. Jack of Clubs. Titus' expression fell and shattered on the floor.

pXe3KFF.png

"W-well drawn, m-m'lady..!”

Titus flushed beet red as he pushed his chips toward the middle of the table, as though the effort was too much for him. He managed it, after all, and was looking like he might faint on the spot. Just as the next wager was to be made, and before Titus had the chance to keel over completely, a young, smartly-dressed, unfamiliar-looking woman approached their table.

tWaOuJN.png

"Mister Latken, sir, your car is waiting downstairs. If you'll follow me we can true up your winnings in the lobby.”

Titus' eyes flashed briefly with recognition as he look at her before his gaze returned to his remaining pile of chips. Still stacked, albeit slightly diminished. He quickly tabulated that his haul, if cashed out now, would be significantly more than if he stuck around and let these vultures pick at him until there was nothing left. His savior had arrived!

pXe3KFF.png

"A-ah, y-yes, quite..!”

Titus said, preparing to bid his table adieu... And make his escape.

"I guess that was too much for me to ask of you,"
Guess she did like that dumb mask, huh. "I wouldn't rely on it for anonymity, if you wanna hide your identity, walking through central is always a risk. Hmm, maybe a full mask ain't a bad idea, actually, but I should've started wearing one when I joined, not now. Could still use a bit more style though."

Darius was doing it again, wringing his hands together, still a nervous habit. His stiff joints clicked into place, manipulated by his more mobile hand. It looked more like he was just trying to stretch his hands out, but no, he was doing it subconsciously. He kept his gaze to the ground as they walked through the streets, still avoiding onlookers. He'd look up now and then, to scan the area for potential recruits. Nobody seemed very interested. Darius was soon preoccupied with another matter.

She's judging me, isn't she? Fuck. Why are we both being silent? Darius wanted to say something, to ease the awkward situation, but what could he say? All topics had been covered or would be distasteful. He couldn't be like this around a rookie, though. They were the ones he needed to be an example for. The higher ups may be aware of Darius's... weaknesses, but to some, he's the Serpent's Cursed Touch. With the Ace potentially on their tail at any moment, there's no way he could be seen as the less dominant of the two.

Darius Oscar Kennedy, you are going to find the next fresh meat of the Sable Serpents, and you are going to be their boss. If they get in your way, show them what you can do... and then let Anna help.

Preoccupied with his internal power struggle, he barely noticed the change in scenery. Everything seemed a bit more upscale, and they were both more out of place than ever. Darius wished he could have a gorilla mask to hide behind right now, but that thinking was not allowed at that moment. Time for business, time for business. Or... maybe not time for business over there.

Anna drew his attention towards Mach Sling, which looked to be in distress just looking at the glass littering the path outside. Darius hadn't been there before, but could confidently say that it wasn't normally this... in need of repair. Godammit Anna, who will wanna join us there?

"Well I uh, it's certainly something we could check out, but I feel like..." Come on Darius, do you have a better plan? Take charge Darius, take charge. "Yeah, we should go check it out. If this'll be our turf one day, gotta keep tabs on the local businesses, right? Maybe we'll find just the type of people we're looking for."

He didn't have much faith in this choice, but hey, at least the music is still playing. That must mean something... good?

Darius made his way up to the building, and yep, there were definitely people in distress. He peered through the door and windows, stepping around the broken glass. A few menacing figures stood out but were lost among all the other things vying for his attention. The broken windows, the instability of some objects showing even from a distance, the people. Oh God, the people. Were they alive? Seemed to be uncertain, at least unless Darius could get closer. He had no idea what was causing all this damage, but the involvement of HPs was obvious. Even Darius had some confidence in taking on an NP, but HPs were a different matter. He froze in place.

His immediate thoughts were whether or not this was the work of a rival gang. He knew that the others all had their eyes on this district as well, but he liked to keep his own business in the North. How would he know who controlled what here? He had no idea how to approach, but someone from inside seemed to have some advice for him.

He looked up at Dante, "bit of work? That's an understatement." He mumbled, his instincts screaming at him to fly away. Fly away and leave Anna? It was tempting, but Darius clenched his fists, and let out an anxious sigh. His anxiety didn't leave with it, but he could hide it away for a moment. Your reputation is at stake, Darius. You are not a rookie.

"We want to know, what are you doing here?" Now to hope and pray that he wasn't their next target.

A moment had passed, and the two were heading towards the ground at an alarming speed. As the distance between the two and the asphalt shortened, Bash planted his feet into the ground and leapt forward with his arms wrapped around Raph's legs, attempting to multiply the impact by as much as he could before the two finally landed with a loud thud. The sight of his enemy's head colliding with the ground as the two crash-landed only served to widen Bash's primal grimace. The wind had been knocked out of the lowlife body beneath him, and the positions the two fell into forced the most vicious, yet quiet and subtle growl to roll out of the Ace's mouth. The boy and his prey had collapsed directly into his stomping grounds. He was winning.

The morning sun's light gleamed off of the beasts bared fangs as he fixed his position atop his , and he took a moment to assess the situation. Raph was still trying to catch his breath from the fall. He was still vulnerable. He could hear, but he could not see, as the man's arms were riveted to his face, fixed in position with no intention of moving out of his way to reveal his real target. Just looking at the iron walls that protected Raph's face from Bash's fists was enough to force his previous grin of delight to twist into a furious scowl. Those arms. They were in his way.

Move.

He raised a fist. Hands, practically trembling as adrenaline violently coursed through them, began to slam into Raph's guard at full force. It was the beginning of a relentless assault, like two iron battering rams restlessly ramming into a barrier. They wouldn't stop until they had completed their task. His eyes were locked onto Raph as he slammed his fists into his arms with no end in sight. Straight punches weren't working. A switch to from straights to hooks made his arms move to the side with every punch, but it still wasn't enough. The blockade was still holding up.

He felt his fingers begin to sting, and watched as his knuckles began to redden from the constant impact. "Oi," he calmly called out to his victim, sending another punch flying, this time into his ribs once again. "Move 'yer fucking hands. They're in my way."

Another blow. Still, Shaw's arms didn't move.

Bash's eye twitched. He didn't understand-- all this, just to protect a face that was bound to get fucked up after a few more minutes of hitting? His fellow Serpent's tenacity and willpower may have gained the respect of any other adversary, but in this case, it only made Bash grow more upset. He had enough. He lowered his hands onto Raph's, and pushed his fingers into the miniscule gap between the man's arms, forcefully attempting to pry them apart.

"I said," the gap slowly, slowly began to grow. "Move. 'Yer. Hands--"

As he tore through Raph's guard, a glimpse of his face became visible to Bash. His grin returned to his face, and a sound of raw elation escaped from his mouth.

There you are!~

As soon as Bash had revealed Raph's face, an unanticipated rush of clawing attacks. It forced him to instinctively shield his face after the first few hits, but he managed to regain his composure and smack Raph's hands away, uncovering his face to reveal that there was a claw-like scratch running down the left side of his face, from his forearm to the bottom of his cheek. Blood began to seep out and fall down his face, and he was forced to close his eye to protect it from any further potential damage.

He raised his hand yet again, ready to finally put an end to things-- possibly once and for all --. Before his raging fist could begin it's explosive descent into the man's face, something... clicked in him.

Golden eyes took a moment from being strained with bloodlust to relax and... take everything in. The shielding of his face, the desperate clawing, the fact that he had reduced this man to nothing, as soon as he had taken his Potential away from him... again, at that... It was all so...

So pathetic.

I thought you'd be different. I thought you'd put up a real fight this time.

His fist unclenched. Fell to the ground beneath him. Those once-exhilarated eyes became condescending, and remained fixed on him for a few more seconds, like a monster looking down on a weaker being. The small crowd of people that had been watching around them fell silent as Bash refused to finish things.

He placed his hands on his own knees, pushing off of them and rising to his feet while still standing over Raph. Without warning, he clenched his fists again, and out of his mouth erupted a loud, strained roar of pure frustration and anger. All in Raph's face.

"...Later." He sighed, reaching into his pocket with tender knuckles and pulling out his cell phone. "We'll fuckin' settle this shit later. Consider 'yerself lucky." Fingers began cautiously tapping away at the screen of his device, and after a few seconds, he managed to draft up a text to send to the group chat they had made specifically for this mission. Normally, Bash wouldn't have bothered with it, as he wasn't exactly the most tech-savvy person in New Oasis, but, seeing where they were now, the suggestion by Darius to make a group chat wasn't such a bad idea. And so, his sore thumb tapped the 'send' button to transmit his message into the group chat titled "Chat3".

Fucking Anna.

'ANNA. DARIUS. WHERE THE FUCK ARE YOU. LOCATION, NOW.'

He shoved his phone back into his pocket and awaited a response-- one that had better come quickly-- before wiping his own blood off of his face with the sleeve of his jacket. His eyes drifted back down to Raph, who was still laying on the asphalt.

"Get up. We're meetin' back up with Darius 'n Anna. The mission is more important than kickin' 'yer ass right now."

What.... the hell just happened.

When that stupid pink haired blobfish spoke, it was like It triggered something in everyone. That something was to ATTACK HIM!

They people around all of a sudden turned on him, catching him off guard. In a panic, he started fighting back, that was until- he found himself being restrained. Hide tried to pull away, swinging his dagger in a blind rage- but he didn't seem to catch anyone. Damnit! He felt himself being dragged onto the boat, his legs flailing and muscles straining to escape.

" GET YOUR FUCKING HANDS OFF OF ME YOU DAMN DIPSHITS! ARGHH"

As he was thrown on the floor, he let out a groan of pain. His nose nearly cracked against the polished wood... there was sure to be a bruises and his glasses- ...HIS GLASSES. He sat up in a fury, seeing his glasses broken nearby, snapped in half and the lenses broken beyond repair. These... Fucking... ASSHOLES. He looked up to the people who captured him with fire blazing in his eyes. He grit his teeth, barely able to restrain himself from attacking and ripping the damn Pinkie and Hat guy's throat out.

A wicked smile came onto Hide's face as he was finally recognized. He tasted something hot and copper-like on his lips as he licked them. His nose was bleeding.. and he no doubt had a scratched up face thanks to these scumbags!

He sprang up, ignoring the pain in his ribs and- well.. everywhere really. Just as he was about to go for the Pinkie's throat, someone from up above made himself known. He snapped his head in the stranger's direction, anger still plainly evident on Spellbinder's bloody face. He didn't know if this plain looking guy was talking to him, or to Alex- who apparently made himself known as well. However, he spoke up before Alex could, not willing to ignore the chance to get a one-up on his superior.

"YOU-" Before he could however, he was interrupted by- of course- Helva's purple fuckin shadow friend. He rolled his eyes in annoyance. 'Damnit Helva! I coulda had this! I didn't need your fuckin saving...' He bared his teeth at Zulin, expressing how much Hide loathed him and this situation.

"HEY! I AM RIGHT HERE SHIT FOR BRAINS! I DONT NEED YOUR FUCKING HELP!" This whole situation just seemed to rile Hide up even further. He didn't feel like talking anymore. He whipped his head back to the plain guy- completely disregarding that he literally smashed a metal bar beneath his fist- and lunged. However, he was suddenly hit with nausea probably from his injuries, and fell... right back onto his face. He didn't bother getting himself up this time, instead choosing to hold up his middle finger to everyone around him.

Dragons Arc 1: Scene 1 [Rogue of the Night]

ROGUE OF THE NIGHT
The punch was a surprise. Adonis’s expectation was for something more adventurous. By and large, a simple punch came short of a test of his limits and character. It did raise wonder about its purpose. Bizzare gear switching or not, he had little ground to believe “being playful” had any part in her character. Why then the punch? He couldn’t think of anything at the moment. But this element of uncertainty, this likely wrench in the machination of his plots, was what made all this exciting. She was something interesting, he realized, or rather he hoped. It was the kind of excitement a hunter seeks in the spirit of good sports. All the better if she had something up her sleeve. It is often vain hopes that promote mere preys to good challenges.

The pretty young man could barely contain a grin of satisfaction as he took Angel’s hand. As Angel led him away, Adonis gave a vague shrug in Kairong and Robin’s direction. The ice queen was for them to coax now. Kairong could punch her face in for all he cared. He was completely absorbed in the prey before him for the time being.

Shortly later a room was chosen and occupied. Having seated himself comfortably on the couch, he bid Angel sit by him. Leisurely, Adonis rapped his slender fingers on the chair arm. He smiled at Angel, looking into her eyes. A finger was lifted to caress her spotless cheek. But abruptly he withdrew the gesture. Interrogation time.

One method to force a confession out of people, as believed by detective movie fans anyway, is a dimly lit room, a menacing officer, and an air of complete silence maintained so perfectly until the suspect’s nerves collapse and he starts spilling the beans. Admittedly, it is as good a method as any when an anxious suspect is involved and a fitting environment is available. Reality isn’t as ideal, and the way gangsters conduct their investigations is also much less methodical. A brothel’s room, for example, is a prostitute’s home tuft. It was their castle in a sense. In which they possess, or believe to possess, a certain amount of protection. A brothel is their favored terrain, where every tried-and-true trick and scheme is at their disposal. An attempt to undermine a target’s composure when they are so assured of their safety is beyond foolish.

On the contrary, Adonis intended to make use of this sense of security.

He began to talk. Many know of Reveler as a good listener. Yet few are aware of her ability to talk non-stop once she’s been given the reason to talk for hours on end, equally eloquently in the most redundant subjects to the most obscure. It was something natural for the Annalist, whose favorite pastime was to gather knowledge, any kind of knowledge about others around her, only to construct with those bits and pieces a complete image.

“Now you see, dear Angel. Being a Dragon isn’t easy. It’s not. You saw that old guy, didn’t you? So violent, so impulsive, so short-tempered. I once saw him break a guy’s jaw for having stuttered a few words. Now that’s who I would call a disagreeable grandpa. The poor guy’s inability to speak like a human is hardly a reason to punish him. And I know some religious sort, who I know rather well (a fact I am not mightily proud of nor I find fortunate), who believe that even flaws, even sufferings, and to go even further, even evil are gracious gifts from higher beings. But my point is, yes my point, is that it was hardly the guy’s fault for stuttering a few words, nor his mother’s for giving birth to a defected being. These are not the things you break people’s jaws for. Some people just can’t help it. And we, I mean people like me, as better beings, better educated, and better suited for leadership, should be merciful, understanding, and in all ways respectable. There are mistakes you punish and there are mistakes you forgive. The line blurs, oftentimes. But it is the responsibility of a leader to make the right judgment. Ah, certainly not the kind of leadership that requires flying microwaves to keep people in line. But I’m going beside the point. What was it again? Ah yes, the old man. I assure you this unfortunate fact, people like him are not a rare sight in our ranks. Well, don’t trust what rumors out there have to say, careful recruitment and whatever. Why, I have to deal with insufferable people like that day in day out. But what can we do, people like us tend to be rather… eccentric. At any rate, the quality of character is certainly overlooked these days. Which is a crime, I tell you. But aha, what do you even know about it, baby doll.”

So he kept going on and on, saying these things, but in a roundabout, lengthy way riddled with unnecessary and irrelevant details.

“It is our business to keep people happy and our pockets full, not yours. You need only to know that I’m not the prime example for the Dragons these days. Sadly, I tell you. Back when I was invited into the gang, the criteria were an entirely different story. You give me a hundred capable HPs and hardly even one would have been picked. But I was, obviously. Back when I was in my teens even. I was some kind of a prodigy you see. Even now, to be frank, there are few Dragons who can match my ability. But as I said, you can’t judge talents in fairness with flying microwaves. No, there are finer things in life much more complex, much more incomprehensible. The things that only a certain few are born with, in the mind, in the body, in their potentialities. If everything was different–was arranged in the right way I mean, I could have been the King’s or Queen’s right hand. I should be revered, respected! But what do they know about it? Nothing, I reckon. Instead, I’m always sent on some kiddy errands. Some literal who got snuffed, who even gives a shit?” He checked himself. An unnatural, awkward smile magically appeared, as if to hush away violent displeasure.

“Oh, pardon my temper. I am on edge these days. It was only last week when a disagreeable character from the treasury… but hey you don’t need to know that! What I’m trying to say is that life is not very fair for everyone involved. Or something. Anyway, I would have much preferred a nicer reason to be with you like this, my dear. And not for such a boring job. I mean it’s not like the guy in question was well-liked or anything. Have you seen the bastard’s face, Angel? Not even a mother could love that. I certainly couldn’t. I had the misfortune to cross his path more than once. Arrogant, arrogant bastard. He fancied himself high and mighty, I reckon. He thought he was some kind of a badass gangster or something. Well, I bet he was nothing of the sort. Always so secrecy, so anti-social. Now I certainly don’t miss him. But a job is a job. Or to be honest,” Adonis chuckled, “I can simply report back that I couldn’t find anything. What are they going to do? I hope they wise up and stop sending me on missions like this. Now that’s a hope! But who am I kidding. It’s going to hurt my chance for a promotion. Not that I can do anything about it. Whatever, they would simply send someone else in my place, and it would be that someone’s problem. Till they eventually get bored of chasing wild geese and decide to pick a random girl in this place to present to the King. But don’t you worry.”

Adonis leaned even closer to Angel. Slender fingers lifted her chin and angled her pretty face to meet his.

“I have taken a liking to you, Angel. You have been a fantastic listener. You do. I feel all better after our little chat. So when they pick a scapegoat, I will tell them to leave you out of it, all right? What do you have to thank me now?”

Today could have been a great day. It was going to be a great day. Unfortunately, 7 o’clock.

Kazue was about to take a nap on a cot in the back of her “office”, blissfully unaware of the chaos bubbling in the East as she attempted to catch a rare moment of sleep. However, as she drifted into that beautiful nothingness, she was ripped away by a phone notification, which interrupted the music she was falling asleep to. The notification happened to be about this little Thing. Specifically, it was from those little whippersnappers who leaked critical info about the Azure Dragons with their shenanigans. That Thing.

Kazue sat bolt upright for a few moments, attempting to process what had just happened, when her phone pinged again. Sighing, she lifted the phone and read the text that had knocked her out of her trance. From the Queen herself came a summons to the Dragons’ surveillance room.

Getting up, she grabbed her cap and a bag of medical supplies. She had no clue what was gong on, the message had given her a task, and it had promised some answers.

HQ was a short distance away from Kazue’s little establishment, about a minute’s run from point to point. It felt like a minute too long.

For the second time that day, someone sprinted into the surveillance room.

“I’m here, as you requested. What happened?”

She was probably being an interruption to the…uh…smart person work going on, and the need to ask about 90 questions to figure out where the damage might be would definitely be annoying, but no matter.

He would have laughed at Yuto’s belief that Sang was playing around if they had more time but they really didn’t. Instead he went to grab Yuto before the idiot could do further damage to Sang’s mood. He only got air as Yuto tossed himself off the other smacking into the wall on his way down. Great his serpents were already doing the cops job for them. He let out a sigh before addressing the two.

“Alright alright enough. No need to show up fucked up already. Yuto there’s cops heading the way of our King’s mission. High Ups too from the sound of it. Trust me if it's who I think it is, we don't want her getting anywhere near our base.”

He pulled out a set of keys and beeper and clicked as a nearby car let off an unlocking sound.

“Huh, that one then. Let's move. Easy mission, get in fuck up some cops, divert away from the base. Preferable in Yuudai’s direction. If we can get to that group we’d probably have the highest success. Delynn should be with them. Charge them up and dodge out of the way of the electric nuke.”

He started to the car and flung the door open looking every bit like he’d never seen the car before. A trained eye would be able to tell he hadn’t and perhaps wonder just where he snagged the keys from.

“Good at least this one’s automatic. Hop in”

He slid into the driver's seat adjusting just about everything in the car before turning it on ready to pull out as fast as the car would let him.

BA603CD9-7DE2-422E-AE66-F007B13FB95A.pngAs her hand was waving in the air with her informative lesson, she noted that Dimitri was trying to get in a bite. She obliged, but not in an expectant way. She decided to stick the side of her hand into his mouth for him to bite.

This is a training lesson! Yes, please stay hydrated,” she smirked wildly as Dimitri backed off. She shook her hand slightly, some of her blood flinging haphazardly from the new wound.

In the mirror of the truck, the frightened eyes of the driver could be spotted as his hands gripped tightly on the wheel. Good man.

As Dimitri charged forward with his flurry of attacks, she went to dance around the sharp objects. A few managed to hit her regardless due to the tight space. She attempted to get close to close her hand around his cheeks to make his lips purse.

Just in that moment, Vulken decided to join them. Whatever Reika was going to attempt to do to Dimitri became distracted as she felt the truck bounce with the new addition.

And she absolutely got hit for her distraction.

She got a hot foot right to the side of her head. Her grip loosened on Dimitri and she went flying right off the truck..

Her body smacked right into traffic, which was going in the same direction, denting the roof of the vehicle. One of her horns melted slightly in the process, singing her skin. Maybe a rib broke in the process.

The vehicle that was victim to… hitting someone Reika pulled off to the right-most lane and stopped. They would be impeding traffic, but it seemed like that wasn’t the only cause of their stop as something up ahead swung around and blocked off all of the lanes. (This is the semi-truck that got shot up from Reckoning).

Reika groaned and sat up on the car roof, seeing the truck getting ahead. It wouldn’t get far, but she couldn’t just let them go without taking the pain they dished out.

She rolled over toward the driver side and knocked on the window, though only to notice it was cracked. She smashed it out, causing the driver to yelp in surprise. She stuck her head down and looked at them, “Get out. Mine.

The passenger quickly scrambled out of the door, with the driver trying to follow to get away from the woman that looked like a mess. Once out, she swung through the now-broken driver window and got into the driver seat. They left the keys in the ignition. Good.

She revved it up before hurtling it down and in between traffic to catch back up with the truck. It didn’t take long. She didn’t bother trying to slow the vehicle down as she tore the door off the vehicle. She climbed onto the roof once more and cackled, “Time for me to get serious, babes.

A sight to behold, probably. A tall woman, burnt and bloodied to hell, one horn melted, the wind blowing her wild hair back, standing upon a vehicle that was yet moving forward (though will be slowing down). She held her hands up, palms to the sky, her fingers curled slightly as she hopped sideways onto the road just as the vehicle crashed into the back of the truck Dimitri and Vulken were standing upon, which had screeched to a stop from the pile-up occurring on the bridge.

EE4E7CE1-3DA7-4D75-ABCE-CF009809E2C9.jpegRuriko sure was fast. He didn’t have time to react after tackling not into her, but her manifested portal. He had but to hold his breath to see where he’d spit back out–

Which was just the same spot, to which he stumbled a bit as he slowed his tackle down, causing his body to jerk down slightly to keep from moving forward.

Good timing too, because he felt the air of Kanna’s weapon above his head.

Now both of the Dragon women were behind him.

As loudspeakers were activated, the voice that could only be Guardian spilled through, followed by the sound of active drones flying in the air.

Still trying to get him to surrender. He sighed with a shake of his head.

Well, this isn’t looking good.

He kept his back facing the women, as he seemed to be trying to look out onto the water nearby. A car zoomed by the fog on the street, honking like mad.

Putting his hands on his hips, he tilted his head. “She’s gonna make me say it?

The sound of a commotion on the bridge caused him to smirk. “Ah, there’s my signal.

He turned around to face the women once more. “Time for some theatrics!

Thrusting his arm forward, he had his palm facing them.

I summon thee! The all-powerful water demon! Poseidon!!

He waited a moment. Long enough that someone could think he’s crazy.

A splash heard nearby from the river.

Guardian’s drones were just about to fire–

1018A055-FB76-408A-BDDF-86B4162D2705.jpegA giant… liquid hand merged with the dark fog of the area, sucking up some of it into the liquid as it reached down and snatched the white-haired man from the ground. Well, he was actually in the hand as bubbles came from his nose.

Bullets littered the spot he had been and where he went, some of them getting stuck into the water, which seemed to react, and some towards the man, but weren’t able to make it to him.

He swam to the top of the fist and splashed his head out of the water.

Neener neener!” He taunted

The hand took him from the darkened fog and delivered him to the convertible that Lupine and the girl were in, plopped into the unoccupied seat. He fell with a splash and was absolutely soaked. His white shirt stuck to his figure, revealing the muscles underneath easier.

He shouted at the water hand, “Now, you did this on purpose and you know it!

The fist made a thumbs up before waving and splashing into the water.

A GATHERING STORM
Ah yes, more chaos, more of a storm to be had. While Alex knew since Hide decided to use a hostage as a distraction it was going to be a wild ride, the addition of one of Helva’s puppets only added to the gathering storm. If Alex compared this mission to a dish, it would be curry, and someone else had added too much cayenne pepper. But a good chef always presented something edible, and so Alex had to step up his game. Looking over the situation Alex started to note everything down in his head.

Hide on the ground, could be bad, he was already dragged up

Purple Helva with a gun(Really a stupid choice if you wanted to deal with HPs). Probably drawing a lot of attention, could be good.

Cotton-candy the girl(He thinks is named Lavinia) surrounded by a posse, probably safe to assume at least one HP. Going to assume all are HPs until proved otherwise, forced needed to get to her might kill an NP. Probably the head of this party, the host.

Punk(Angelo???) that brought Hide up might know something, free-standing, might bind him for later.

Another confirmed HP was up above, dented the railing in a petty show of power, was trying to save face. Seemed to have some say in what happened.

With all that in mind, Alex started walking, stalking really, gazing upon the average guy. “As the purple fantasma said, we have questions. But first, perhaps you should get your party boat filled up~” Alex decided to bring a playful tone to his voice as enough of his potential’s energy had swelled out of his body that it was no longer able to be hidden, coating his chest, hands, and clung to his neck as a dark transparent mane. With each step forward the energy bobbed up and down then slinked forward to continue clinging to Alex. When Alex stopped moving, he had Lavinia and her posse between himself and the average boy. He offered a smile to the punks that bought Hide up then cleared his throat

Making a show of it, Alex brought a hand up to his cheek, finger reaching over to his earpiece and pressing in the button once and then twice to send out silent transmissions to get everyone’s attention to their radios. Then he pressed and held in the button a third time, allowing the radio to pick up his words “What I need are some leads, honestly. And I’ll be rather peeved if I came to this boat and all I got was a beat-up insomniac! So if everyone could just start telling Greed what’s up, that’d be great.” With that Alex ended the transmission, hoping either Hector or Akane took the hint to start filling everyone in over the radio.

“Now, perhaps we can start with whatever nuestro amigo Angelo was worried about. Is there anything going on that you wouldn’t want us to know about? No mientas, assume it’s more than your money at risk here~” As Alex spoke, the oily energy clinging to his body formed three sets of jointed tungsten hands the same size as his, along with a pair of them big enough to cover Alex’s shoulders as the big hands grabbed onto his jacket. The other six floated around Alex, the palms slowly pointing at different people.

THE HIGH LIFE
A shot rang out, cutting through the party atmosphere.

Nobody moved.

The DJ cut the music.

All eyes snapped to the source of the shot. All eyes found Yulia… Save a few pairs.

One of those pairs of eyes belonged to the long-suffering waitress who’d trekked halfway across the district and back at the behest of one of the Tigers. Her eyes were on Miss Wonder herself, who’d managed to weasel her way into the throng of partygoers before the shot went off and was reaching greedily for the platter of meat and pasta like it was the most valuable thing in the world.

A few more pairs of eyes were wandering, as it happened, around the room in a not-quite-normal kind of way. As Elias and Yulia watched from above, and as Sophia's hands reached out to grasp her prize, the other shoe dropped.

Without warning, a random partygoer broke free from the more-or-less stationary crowd and swung at another standing nearby to the cocktail waitress, knocking into her from behind. The platter of Hamburger Helper went flying, and time seemed to slow. First, one brawl broke out. Then another. And another, until before long the entire dance-floor was erupting with flying fists, elbows, and kicks, with only a handful of partygoers seemingly unaffected.

THE HIGH LIFE
The Tiger King's den was a lot like the Tiger King himself. Pompous, imposing, and expensive. The room itself was long and high-ceilinged, an ornate desk monopolizing the far end, facing the door. Three of the four walls were paneled with imported wood finishings, the fourth a floor-to-ceiling window overlooking the West District beyond it. A fireplace crackled along the side wall. There Markus sat, or perhaps, lounged, behind his desk in a high-backed, leather bound chair, swiveled to face the darkening skyline. At the sound of his door opening, he swiveled back around, his cellphone pressed to his ear. He locked eyes with her, timid little Mouse that she was, and quickly ended his call.

“Later.”

He clicked the phone off and dropped it carelessly onto the desk.

“C'mere, sit down.”

He nodded toward one of the two chairs seated opposite him. If Markus had heard the gunshot go off from in here, he didn't make it known. He waited, resting his chin in the palm of his hand. As he waited, he pulled his phone back up and scrolled until he'd found what he was looking for. As she sat, Markus placed his phone face up on the desk and slid it over to her. The illuminated screen showed a picture of a large, balding man in expensive clothes, sat at a casino table. Markus looked at Isobel's face, trying to gauge any flash of recognition.

“Name's Titus Latken. You know 'im?”

Ruri, Jesper ( AriAriAbabwa AriAriAbabwa ), Kanna ( FabulousTrash FabulousTrash )
RECKONING

With her fingers gripped tightly around the hilt of her kodachi, she waited for their target to make his move. That was probably the biggest mistake they’ve made all night, this man was so unpredictable, all they could do was wait and react rather than overwhelm him with their own attacks. It couldn’t be helped though, especially with the low visibility due to this smoke. Her eyes shifted over to Kanna for a brief moment as the Jack repositioned herself nearby after she missed her own attack. That came to Ruriko as a surprise considering they had practiced quite a lot together, allowing Kanna to familiarize herself with the portals and what to expect movement wise, and vice versa with her gravity potential. No matter, now that Guardian rejoined them, they shouldn’t have any more trouble subduing their target. She knelt down to pick up the katana she dropped moments ago, feeling more confident with their numbers against one guy.

As she did, gunshots were heard very clearly from the bridge, the exact direction where the civilians they had released ran towards. Ruriko immediately stood straight up after collecting her other blade, turning her attention just in time to watch an eighteen wheeler tilt over and crash onto its side. The cacophonous sound of car horns disturbed the peace they strived to maintain in the eastern district and the sound of metal scratching against metal made her flinch slightly in disgust. “What the fuck…” she breathed out, glancing over to Kanna before locking her gaze on their target who had claimed that was his signal. She tensed up as the man held his palm out towards them, blabbering some attack move as if this was a superhero anime. Ruriko waited for whatever his special attack move was, and waited, and waited, and waited - was this guy for real? How fucking lame - the sound of water turned her attention to the nearby river and her eyes widened at the sight of what appeared to be a giant hand looming over them. Rather than attack, the body of water absorbed their target, as well as the bullets that fired from Guardian’s drones before transporting him over to the bridge.

“This is getting fucking ridiculous,” she said more to herself than to Kanna as she sheathed both blades and closed the portal she had used to deflect the white-haired man a couple of minutes ago. With a wave of her hand, she created a portal in front of her and Kanna and another at her maximum range and height of two hundred feet towards the bridge. “Let’s go,” she grabbed Kanna’s wrist, pulling her along into a sprint to build momentum. After passing through the portal, the two reappeared high up in the sky as she waited for Kanna’s potential to activate.

Phoenixes Arc 1: Scene 2 [A Gathering Storm]

Docks, South District

A GATHERING STORM

The commotion outside the boat distracted Hector for a moment, as he craned his neck to try and see what was going on. Unfortunately, the crowds were too dense to make out faces, but Hector didn't need to see to make an educated guess. A sharp exhale from his nose was the first indicator that he was pissed off. The second indicator was how quickly he turned back to Noland as if he had just been insulted behind his back. The third indicator was him staring down Akane, trying to give the silent message of "Yeah, the boys are fucking things up, aren't they?".

He nodded to Catherine as she landed near them, trying to keep a straight face. Alex could look after himself and Hide, so what Hector needed to do now was avoid distractions until it was time to play the hero. His eyes lit up when she pulled the phone out, finally something concrete. His instinct went to grab the phone off of her to take a look, as he would do to a Rookie Phoenix but remembered his manners in time. Be respectful, Hector, then reap the rewards.

He examined the photo for a while as she explained the context. He had plenty more to speak about and was about to join her in further discussion when his earpiece started to make some noise.

What do they want now? Seemed like Alex had already found trouble, and Hide found even more by the sounds of it. He looked back towards the commotion, which led towards the boat. Just great. They confirmed his suspicions. Hector shooed Akane towards Catherine, hoping she'd have more questions to ask, "I'll let you two talk for a moment," and turned away from the scene. Openly talking about the info he just gathered, in front of the people who told him seemed a touch distasteful. He needed to keep them around until he knew everything they knew. He opted for a vague response over the radio.

"We're just talking to some folks on the dock right now. Can I get an update on your status, Greed? Need us over there, maybe?"

He stopped the message and spun around to face Noland and Catherine again. He gave an apologetic nod to them, "Sorry about that." He was aware they may need to wrap things up quicker than expected, and turned his attention solely to Catherine.

"So, fill me in. Tell me everything."
