Howdy Folks! I'm looking for someone to participate in a Naruto 1x1. It will involve a progression system that encourages characters to pursue specific goals that will hopefully help facilitate rp that I originally created intending it to be used for a group rp. I'll go over the details of the system later in the post. Next I'll explain a bit about myself and my expectations as well as the general setting/plot for the RP.
First of all, I'm HereticShinobi but I normally go by Heretic. I'm male and in my late twenties. I used to RP big time until about 4-5 years ago and since then have only done it on and off. I consider myself to be a fairly good writer and roleplayer but I'm definitely out of practice. I'm pretty confident that I can reliably write responses with word counts of 100-250 but I might have to post a stinker of response on rare occasions.
I don't really like having to write long posts each time as I prefer to get multiple responses a day and I don't like having to pad out my responses when our characters are having a casual conversation. I'm looking for someone else who prefers multiple shorter responses a day as well. I'm also looking for someone who doesn't mind the use of honorifics and terms like katon or kekkei genkai as opposed to the english terms. I'm not going to go as far as writing the jutsu names in japanese but be warned that I'm the type of person to look up what kanji would be in my characters' names lol. Also please no english character names. It's just too immersion breaking for me.
What I had in mind for the plot is having your typical Naruto RP but with the twist being that our characters are people who were originally from this world but reborn into the world of Naruto. Specifically, they were born into the Leaf Village a decade before the Nine-Tails attack. Our characters would have regained their memories of their past life following the attack. (I'm fine with adjusting the timeline of their birth and when they regain their past memories)
I figure the rp would begin with their graduation from the academy and with their team placement - I think a two person genin team would work best. As for the actual plot, that would depend on our characters and their goals.
Beyond those details I'm fine with romance being involved but I prefer slower paced romance and I don't think it would begin till our characters were much older given the circumstances of their existence in this world. I'm fine with MxM or MxF, or any other pairings but I will be roleplaying a male character. I'm hoping for the main focus to be on seeing our characters grow as shinobi and how they affect the canon events of the series.
Now I'll explain the progression system in the next tab and if you are fine with that go ahead and feel free to dm me and we'll do some very in-depth planning there. I'm only looking to rp with one person right now but if the plot or progression system really intrigues you then you can go ahead and create your own post just make sure to credit me. I'll indicate if I've found someone or if things didn't work out with whoever gets there first so if you're really interested in roleplaying with me just keep an eye on this thread.
Okay then, the progression system. The goals I had when creating this was to create a way to track a character's skills, a way to compare their skills to other characters, a way to provide goals for them to work towards, and a way to prevent them from getting too overpowered. Like I mentioned previously this system was originally created for what was originally going to be a large group rp but I also began creating other systems for it and eventually the whole project became so big that I couldn't really manage it anymore. But I figured that this progression system that started it all would still have its use in a 1x1 setting.
Now the progression system tracks a character's skills by assigning them one of six letter ranks - E, D, C, B, A, or S. I decided to use this sort of ranking system rather than a number based stat system as I felt it suited the setting better. In addition I created a specialization system so that characters could have a distinct role within the village. The specializations would have also been part of a system to restrict what level of jutsu a character could have access to but with this being a 1x1 I don't think that it's something we have to worry about. We'll have much more control over the plot and will be able to better understand how our character's knowledge of certain jutsu would affect the plot.
Now I'll show you the skill sheet that I created for this progression system and explain each skill there. A blank sheet and examples of each rank that show the bare minimum requirements will be at the end of this post.
Overall Rank - This one is pretty self-explanatory. It is just a measure of the overall level of competence and skill displayed by the character.
Chakra Reserves - Again pretty self-explanatory. Simply put it's how much chakra a character can weave before running out of spiritual or physical energy.
Chakra Control - This is how easily a character can control their chakra. This would have played into a jutsu system I was creating where it would have affected what jutsu a character could learn. Instead here it can affect how quickly our character's learn a jutsu as well as how much chakra is used when performing a jutsu.
Nature Affinity - This is a characters natural affinity towards an elemental nature transformation of chakra. It was going to be limited to simply granting a buff to a character's jutsu but perhaps we could use it to denote the level of affinity our characters have for each nature transformation based on the six level scale.
Acquired Nature Transformations - This is simply what nature transformations a character has learned how to do.
Nature Transformation - This is to what degree a character can transform the nature of their chakra and how easily. Each nature transformation acquired will have a separate rank.
Shape Transformation - This is how easily and to what degree a character can change the shape of their chakra.
Taijutsu - Simply the level of competence a character displays in taijutsu.
Shurikenjutsu - This is how good a character is at using shuriken, kunai, or senbon.
Shunshin - This will need a bit of explaining. In the other rp I was planning the Shunshin jutsu to be reworked into the way that ninja utilized their chakra to move faster than normal humans. I would like that rework to be used in this 1x1 as well.
Primary Specialization - This is the skill that a character has chosen to put the most focus on. It is the skill they are most advanced in and the one they can use the most advanced jutsu in.
Secondary Specializations - These are skills that a character has put extra focus on either to complement their primary specialization or to simply make up for other fields they lack in.
Special Abilities - These are things such as having a Kekkei Genkai or possessing higher chakra reserves than other characters. They are skills or traits that your average ninja would simply have no way of achieving.
Additional Skills - Any other skills your character has trained in but hasn't particularly focused on.
In addition to these categories there is also a small section for the relative skill your character displays in the most fundamental skills in comparison to others that share the same rank in those skills.

Equipment - This is is simply a list of the equipment a character brings with them on missions. Things like weapons, armor, pouches and the things they contain, food, etc.
Known Jutsu - Simply a list of known jutsu. Separated by category and rank.
Next I'll post a list of the specializations available. But before that I'll explain how the specialization system was supposed to work. The max rank a character could reach in a skill would be determined by whether the skill was their primary or secondary specialization or simply an additional skill. Additional skills could reach a max rank of B, secondary specializations could reach a max rank of A, and primary specializations could reach a max rank of S allowing a character to use jutsu of the corresponding rank. The intent behind this was to make top level jutsu much rarer to see and allow them to be more impactful. We could do something similar but I figure we can also allow an exception or two. I should also mention that there was a category of skills (I could never find a good name for them) that anyone could reach A-Rank in and could reach S-Rank by choosing them as a secondary specialization rather than as a primary specialization. This was because while they were a definite skill that shinobi could specifically train, they didn't offer any combat applications or were too simple or too rare or didn't provide any jutsu. Anyhow, I'll provide the list of specializations now. I only provided a small list of bukijutsu as there's basically an infinite amount of possible varieties.
