"The world has moved on from the samurai. To survive, we have even had to learn the use of chakra, much like the ninja, and adapted it to tradition to even keep our name. For the most part, the ninja world left us alone, having their wars in the shadows and ripping eachother like beasts.

However, when a lone woman, bloody with wounds made her way to the Land of Iron, and asked us for sanctuary, our honor dictated we lend her aid. This... was a bloody price for honor. Her name was Chie, and she was a refugee from the Hidden Cloud. And, what's worse, a jinchuriki in our lands. The Cloud declared war on us, and made us, the samurai, realize for the first time our techniques were inadequate. We drove them off eventually. We, then, with our honor already wounded, asked for them to help us learn this 'ninjutsu' that was used against us.

Apparently, in the shadows, a third great ninja war had occurred without us knowing of it. Having defeated the Cloud changed the course significantly, as their allies, Mist and Stone, began to falter against the Leaf and Sand.

More refugees, we could not refuse. And, us having already harbored one of these 'jinchuriki', apparently only them feel more welcome, we didn't even know who in the crowd was a civilian, who was a ninja, and who was a jinchuriki.

We soon found out the consequence of the later, as another jinchuriki named Jun had a mental breakdown, and the beast inside him went wild. We had never seen such a monster, let alone fight it. But we are of a Land of Iron, and of a Steel will. We will not bend, nor will we break. We disposed of it, but had lost even more soldiers.

This, apparently, scared the ninja world. Each nation, without telling the other declared war on us. A steel will can only take us so far, desperation meant we must ask some of the refugees to fight."

-----------

Welcome to Last of the Fallen Blossoms! We'll be playing as a bunch of samurai and refugee ninja starting out with the world against them {So Genin level}. Will have typical team structure with one sensei with a team, and gradually getting stronger. Looking for around 9 players. Main thing that marks a 'samurai' is use of a weapon, they use all their jutsu through one, and specialize in it. Whether a sword, a tessen, a naginata, or bow, or something completely different, they center their fighting styles on a weapon.

As Samurai, won't be using genin/chunnin/jonin ranks, equivalents:

Mokunoha- Genin
Tetsunoha - Chunin
Haganenoha - Jonin
Taishou - Kage

(Wood blade, iron blade, steel blade, commander)

Rules:

1) This is an advanced RP, expect ~3 paragraphs a post.
2) Rotation is about once a week. {Everyone in a squad should post within that week}. If it's been a week, can be skipped.
3) Don't be an asshole, that's the GM's job.
4) OOC is discord, will give link when character is approved
5) PM me your character. If I manage to get some suckers to be my Co-GM's, they'll weigh in.
6) Burning House Rule - pity any characters who left the RP burned in a house fire.
7) Have fun! Rest are just what I'm expecting.
8) RL > RP every time. Anything comes up, let me know 'can't do X for a few weeks'. I'm not a complete monster and will work with you.
9) Come at me with ideas! Worst I can say is yes.

Character sheet btw. It's a bit complicated, but one a lot of the old timers have seen a few times at this point, and will have an examples of.

Got 5 attributes you can throw 15 points at.
* Strength
* Agility
* Perception
* Intelligence
* Stamina

And whatever you have above, add above together, divide by two to give you your stat in any.
* Taijutsu {strength + Stamina}
How hard you hit things, or jutsu that make you hit things with your fists or weapons harder
* Tools {Strength + Intelligence}
Anything specially made for you, ninja items, seals, thrown items, or bows.
* Stealth {Agility + Perception}
How sneaky you can be, and sensory skills
* Genjutsu {Intelligence + Perception}
How strong are your illusions, or resistance to illusions
* Ninjutsu {Agility + Stamina}
Anything that goes boom with chakra more or less. How strong fireballs, or elemental jutsu are.

Can pick any above to be particularly good or bad at. {Mastery/Ineptitude, trade a point for +/-2 to the above.}

Jutsu Points: You start with 6. Use them to buy Jutsu or weapons.
E-rank -Free but useless tech or academy
D-rank - 1 Jutsu point to buy - need 1 point in relevant skill
C-rank - 2 Jutsu points to buy - need 5 point in relevant skill
B-Rank - 4 Jutsu points to buy- need 10 point in relevant skill
A-rank - 8 Jutsu points to buy- need 20 point in relevant skill
S-rank - Earn it IC

Basically, get 2 C-rank techs, 2-D rank techs at start.

This is a past explanation used before:
Filling out Your Skills & Attributes

While the rest of the CS is hopefully fairly self-explanatory, the Skills and Attributes grid can be a little bit complex so we've provided a step by step guide to walk you through the process.

As you can see, the stat grid has three rows: attributes, skills and bonuses. The 15 points you start the RP with are only divided up among the categories in the first row, the skill row is filled out by averaging together different attributes and the bonuses row we will discuss further down.

Str Agi Per Int Stm Mastery(+2 to a skill of your choice per point)Ineptitude(-2 to a skill of your choice per -point)Total
Attributes 1 to 5 1 to 5 1 to 5 1 to 5 1 to 5 0 to 3 -5 to 0 15
Taijutsu Tools Stealth Genjutsu Ninjutsu Specialization: (enter name here if unlocked)Specialization 2: (cannot be unlocked yet)
Skills (str+stm)/2 (int+str)/2 (per+agi)/2 (int+per)/2 (stm+agi)/2 (stat+stat)/2 (cannot be unlocked yet)
Mastery Bonuses/Ineptitude Maluses

Your first step when filling out a stat grid should be to allocate points to your basic attributes, your character's strength, agility, perception, intelligence and stamina. You can go to the mechanics page to learn more about what each of these attributes do but this guide will assume you have already done that. You'll observe that in this example table we've allocated all our points to basic attributes but when you fiill out your grid you might want to reserve some of your attribute points for Mastery which we will cover further down.

Str Agi Per Int Stm Mastery(+2 to a skill of your choice per point)Ineptitude(-2 to a skill of your choice per -point)Total
Attributes 5 3 2 2 3 0 to 3 -5 to 0 15
Taijutsu Tools Stealth Genjutsu Ninjutsu Specialization: (enter name here if unlocked)Specialization 2: (cannot be unlocked yet)
Skills (str+stm)/2 (int+str)/2 (per+agi)/2 (int+per)/2 (stm+agi)/2 (stat+stat)/2 (cannot be unlocked yet)
Mastery Bonuses/Ineptitude Maluses

Calculating your basic skills is as simple as averaging together the two attributes related to that skill, in fact the exact formulas are displayed within the grid if you are unsure. You can see our example character has a fairly balanced skill profile, with good taijutsu and tools scores and very average scores in their other categories.

Skills 4 4 2.5 2 2.5 (stat+stat)/2 (cannot be unlocked yet)
Mastery Bonuses/Ineptitude Maluses

Now you might find that the skills you end up with through this process don't quite suit the character you wanted. Maybe you wanted to specialize a little more, or you wanted to be really good at ninjutsu but terrible at genjutsu even though they are both partially derived from your intelligence score. This is where the two attribute categories we ignored earlier, Mastery and Ineptitude, come in.

Mastery is an attribute that allows us to raise any skill. Each attribute point invested in the mastery category allows us to add a bonus of +2 to any skill you want. These bonuses are marked in the third row, like so. Keep in mind that a character can only ever have 1/5th of their total attribute points invested in mastery. So with 15 points total to start with a new character can only have a maximum of 3 attribute points in it.

Str Agi Per Int Stm Mastery(+2 to a skill of your choice per point)Ineptitude(-2 to a skill of your choice per -point)Total
Attributes 5 3 2 2 3 1 -5 to 0 16
Taijutsu Tools Stealth Genjutsu Ninjutsu Specialization: (enter name here if unlocked)Specialization 2: (cannot be unlocked yet)
Skills 4 4 2.5 2 2.5 - (cannot be unlocked yet)
Mastery Bonuses/Ineptitude Maluses +2

We've decided our example character here should be good at taijutsu, so we've spent an attribute point in mastery and added the +2 bonus there, raising our taijutsu score to 6. Now if you've been paying attention you might have noticed a problem: that extra point we spent has brought us to 16, one over the 15 point limit. This is where Ineptitude comes in. Ineptitude is like a negative, or opposite version mastery, we can lower our ineptitude score below zero to free up attribute points to spend elsewhere. However, each point we take out of ineptitude like this confers a penalty of -2 to a skill of our choosing, just like an opposite version of the +2 bonus.

Str Agi Per Int Stm Mastery(+2 to a skill of your choice per point)Ineptitude(-2 to a skill of your choice per -point)Total
Attributes 5 3 2 2 3 1 -1 15
Taijutsu Tools Stealth Genjutsu Ninjutsu Specialization: (enter name here if unlocked)Specialization 2: (cannot be unlocked yet)
Skills 4 4 2.5 2 2.5 - (cannot be unlocked yet)
Mastery Bonuses/Ineptitude Maluses +2 -2

There we go, back to 15 points. Our genjutsu score was already very low so we've decided to neglect it completely and apply the penalty from our ineptitude there. This character is now very vulnerable to even basic genjutsu, but they have great taijutsu for a genin and lots of other options to fall back on as well. Now plenty of characters will be done at this stage. However anyone who wants to have particularly rare, or special techniques will have to deal with the specialization section of the Grid.

Specializations are described in greater detail on the mechanics page, so you should read that section if you intend to take one. But in short specializations are like extra skills. They cover unusual, or specialized techniques that not all shinobi will learn and utilize. Kekkei Genkai and Hiden techniques are two examples of specializations but there are some more common ones too: sensory ninjutsu or fuuinjutsu for example.

Each specialization has it's own score, just like the rest of your skills. Some specializations are derived from the same attributes as basic skills but many have their own, unique combinations. Some of the more common specializations have their attributes listed in the mechanics page, but for custom specializations or more obscure ones you will probably need to just ask a GM.

Let's adjust our example character's grid so that he can take a specialization and then give him gentle fist, using a combination of agility and perception for our taijutsu.

Str Agi Per Int Stm Mastery(+2 to a skill of your choice per point)Ineptitude(-2 to a skill of your choice per -point)Total
Attributes 4 2 2 2 2 1 -1 15
Taijutsu Tools Stealth Genjutsu Ninjutsu Specialization: Gentle FistSpecialization 2: (cannot be unlocked yet)
Skills 3 3 2 2 2 2 (cannot be unlocked yet)
Mastery Bonuses/Ineptitude Maluses +2 -2

All Done! Now all that's left is fill out the rest of the character skeleton.

Heyo i'm interested. Is there still room for more players?
I ended up making half a CS out of compulsion and just wanted to ask before I finish it

Oooh boy, getting Co-Gm's/Jonin/Senseis is going to be the harder part here. XD
Yes, we're open still, I've gotten 2 sheets so far. I need to go grade other one. I'm running between 9-12, do need one-two other people's help running this though. Already forcibly recruited KageYuuki, so still need someone to help run missions.

I can certainly lend a hand in that department if need be, aswell as lore

Plan is to start next Sat {Not this one}. Had quite a few CS's so far, looking good. Room for 2 more people.

Interested :x. Think i've got a character concept that could work ;x been debating it in my head

I am interested if those spots are still open, have an idea that came to mind when reading it over.
Sweet, PM me it.

And anyone with a half finished character, if you watn to finish it, I'll be happy to grade.

Honestly, still first come, first serve. Ashwalker messaged me, so probably getting one from them.

So, 1 slot left, go ahead and message me, I'll announce when full
