Chapter 1: A New Day

OIP.jpg

Time: 8:00 AM

Location: Konohagakure Ninja Academy

Once again thesun has risen above the forests of Konoha, and once again the new day has dawned. As the clock strikes closer and closer to 8:00, the once quiet streets of Konoha begin to bustle with life. The commoners hit the streets, and commute to their daily lives. Merchants and vendors open their stores, filling the atmosphere with plenty of noise and smells. Though it is early in the morning, the streets are growing unusually crowded, and for good reason. Today marks the beginning of summer, the day the first Genin class will have graduated since the treaties have gone into full effect. From all over the land, shinobi and travelers have come to attend such an occasion. Some have come simply to be assigned to their teams. Others come simply to patrol the streets and keep the peace. Though the genin may not realize it, the eyes of the world are upon them. Yet that is likely the last thing on their mind. Today, Genin of all nationalities meet in the Konoha Academy to receive their official teams.

Inside the Academy, the classrooms are crowded with hundreds of genin from various nations. All have been tediously organized into specific rooms, where they will then be put into their specific teams. The atmosphere of the classrooms are lively, as the youth pass the time with various gossip and conversation. That is until the official instructors arrive, then all goes silent in an instance. Finally, the moments they've all been waiting for. All the years of training and hard work have led up to this moment: Team Assignments, and the first official day of being a shinobi.

...

The air is tense inside of classroom 210 as three instructors enter the classroom. Two are dressed as standard chunin, however the one in the middle looks different. The fair-skinned man carries himself with confidence and purpose. Between his black hair tied into a pony tail and his trimmed black goatee, are a sharp pair of eyes that look like they'd notice anything. Even the way he dressed is different, wearing a dark red collared shirt with standard black shinobi pants and shoes rather than a flak vest. Immediately the man takes the center of the room, pulls out a sheet of paper, and clears his throat.

"Morning." He states simply to break the tension. "My name is Kaito. I'm the head Jonin here at Konoha. You will now be receiving your official teams. I will read them off to you, then post them at the front of the room here. When I am finished speaking, you will head to the floor above and meet with your instructor in the assigned classroom."

Kaito begins reading through a long list of names.

Team 42:

Instructor: Khione Kuroiyuki

1. Dango Watanatsu

2. Zitami Kaguya

3. Kishiro Nakajima

Meeting Place: Classroom 312

Team 51:

Instructor: Ginji Hyuga

1. Tachiagari Kagayaku

2. Marubaru Nagatoki

3. Natsume Uchiha

Meeting Place: Classroom 314

"That is all." Kaito concludes. "You are to head to your assigned rooms immediately. Dismissed."

Kaito then leaves the room, but the two Chunin remain in the room. Likely they are there to keep order and answer any questions.

Dango Watanatsu

Within this room sat a specific young man, and this young man, looked fit to burst from the jittering that was currently being contained by a fracturing will to stay still. His name being called was almost as if somebody called out to a dog that had been told to stay, but was still under the command to NOT MOVE at all. His whole body jittered, he was all but floating off his seat with anticipation.

He wanted to go.

He NEEDED to go!

And not to the washroom this time, he had gone like 3 times before this from being so worried about it all. His legs bounced, his hands were tapping the ends of a pencil on the desk he was sitting at. He all but barely remembered who he was assigned to be working with.

Who was he with?

That was important to know!

Zitami Kaguya and Kishiro Nakajima.

"Uhh... Those are... the sound guys? I think? Wait.. Why sound..? Why was it called hidden in the sound..? Is it really noisy there? But if it's hidden in noise you can still SEE it right? Konoha is hidden by the woods so it makes sense.. But why would they hide in the noise..?" his fidgeting stopped as he started to ask these questions out loud, head tilting as his eyes went skyward in his thoughts. "...Wait... This is land of fire... So.. why isn't there like a volcano or something..?

...Naming stuff is weird...

But land of fire sounds better than Treeland...

Land of too many trees..." he looked once agai8n at the blackboard in the back holding up the three names of the genin squad he was part of. "My sensei is... Kuroiyuki Khione...? We have alotta K names in our squad." once again his mind wanders, his thoughts and feelings out into the air for anybody and all to hear. For a genin, he certainly wasn't being stealthy at this moment.

Sun beams petered into the room of Marubaru, all peaceful, all calm, as he wispily snored through the morning. A calm breeze filtered the air around him, as he dreamt of exciting endeavors; fighting strange beasts and dwarfing them under the might of his sturdy blade. As he stood over their monstrous corpses, he could suddenly feel an icy shock ooze down his back and to his nether regions, causing him to tense his shoulders as if there were a massive army of ants climbing up his body.

"Get up!" A shrieking bellow crusaded his dreaming ears and when that failed to wake him up, the final straw, a bucket of ice water cascaded upon his body. Like a soaked kitten, he looked upon the perpetrator, his exasperated mother. As he he got up, ice cubes slipped down his pants, Maru quivering as the cubes fell from his pajamas.

"Maaaaa." He irked. He would have started a fight with her, until he saw the hand on the clock, 7:40. "AH! I overslept!"

His mother, fed up with it all, presented him with his clothing and a towel. "You and your father both, I don't know why it's so hard to get up at an early, respectable time. You better get ready quickly, I left some toast on the dinner table."

"You could have at least waited five minutes, I was having the best dream!" He sighed, taking the clothes. "Thanks, Ma. Could you please leave so I could change?"

His mother sighed, a quiet little tear dripping from her eye. "Oh Maru... Just be safe today, okay?" She gently placed a calm hand on the young boy's shoulder.

Maru did not quite understand where his mother was coming from, giving her a bewildered smirk and nod, of course before shoving her out the room. With nothing but his ninja gear and katana in hand, there was not much for him to prepare. At the rate Maru changed, one would think he was graced with lightning release, but one would be proven wrong as he climbed out the window to jump onto the roofs. The way his hair danced with the wind and how his body glided almost bird-like through the air would indicate otherwise. Through people's laundries, gracefully through their balconies and on the railing, Maru trumped through them all with little regard--being late was not an option and his mind could not fathom much else.

Not long after, Maru made it timely to the meeting, sifting through a small, opened window. He was not the last to enter, but upon view of the crowd, he was most certainly not among the first to arrive. He did not see any of his friends immediately, grudgingly fading into the crowd as Kaito listed the teams.

Tachiagari did not strike out as someone he knew or rendered any thought other than trying to enunciate their name, to a struggling degree. However, Maru did find it intriguing that there was an Uchia in his ranks; she would either be a raging rival or strong teammate, and Maru was fine with either. The other itinerary to note was his Sensei. Maru was firmly familiar with who the Hyuga were, but the name Ginji was not familiar, at least among the people his father regularly worked with.

As the Jonin concluded his spiel, Maru was eager to exit the main hall, weaving through the bodies with his small frame. His father did not say much to him at dinner yesterday, but he was adamant about making a good first impression. He was seconds from being late to the briefing but he would try not be late for his the first team meeting. As he approached room 314, Maru opened the door, his posture indicating sheer excitement and confidence.

"Good Morning Sensei Hyuga!" He almost commanded with a clamoring voice. Hopefully he did not just call out to an empty room, but with eyes shut as he spoke, it was not impossible.

Konohagakure and Iwagakure were two vastly different places and every time Tachiagari stepped outside he was reminded of that. Today he awoke to the sounds of birds chirping with the sun's ascendance. It was the most peaceful thing he'd ever experienced and as he sat in his lonely apartment, sipping tea at the kotatsu, he thought about his mother and how lonely she must be back home. A heavy sigh parted his lips and he brushed a few strands of his white hair from his face. Today was the day he would be set on the path to becoming a strong shinobi who would be able to help his mother recover.

The time seemed to fly by this morning and seven 'o clock had snuck up on him. Quickly he showered and pulled his hair back into a long ponytail, then slipped into his Iwagakure uniform. When he left the apartment the streets had already started to fill with people, a reminder that this was a big village and not the small farming village his family raised him in. Either way he wouldn't be late to the first day of the rest of his life.

The class was full, crowded even and as he looked around the room Tachiagari could see only a few faces that looked familiar, but even then he didn't really know them either. With a heavy sigh he turned back around in his seat and watched the doors open to three older people. This was it, the moment their new lives would start. Nervous and eager Tachiagari's heart raced inside his chest and when he finally heard his name called it burst. What did make him feel nervous was the fact that he'd been assigned to a team with an Uchiha partner and a Hyuga mentor. Such prestigious clans were not right for him, surely this was a mistake of some sort.

All the same, he exited the room after the announcement, the sound of his heeled sandals clicked softly through the halls as he made his way to his new destination. On the way there he tried to swallow done his fears and push aside any doubts that might be buzzing around his head. He would need to represent his home well and live up to any expectations his teammates had of him.

Finally he arrived to class 314 and saw a familiar face standing in the doorway. "Wasn't he late?" Tachiagari asked softly as he neared the door. "Ohayo." He declared with a bright smile stretched across his face as he entered the room.

Kishiro Nakajima
A little after 8:00, Konohara Academy

The air was alight with the sounds of laughter, talking, and even some hushed arguing. Typical activity for children. However, all activity seemed to die out in a moment when the instructors entered. To Kishiro, this was the only moment that mattered. A good team could make or break a Genin, setting them on the road to success or making them sputter out with a whimper.

The Jonin at the head of the room began to read off squads after a brief speech. Kishiro waited, counting the squads down with anticipation. One, two three… Soon ten became twenty and still his name had not been called. Several of the more notable Genin had already been called—The relatives of Kage, even a good number of the more important clans had shinobi at this ceremony. But still Kishiro waited.

He wasn’t upset. By no means was he a stud above the rest or at all comparable to those destined for greatness, but he did think highly of his own skills. He had spent years training and studying, honing his craft to perfection. Or at least however close to perfection an adolescent can get. Did they not deserve some kind of recognition? But Kishiro’s luck would worsen in his eyes.

He was almost ashamed by the time he got a hold of himself. “Team 42—” The Jonin’s voice rang out. Kishiro had a feeling. This would be his squad. “— Dango Watanatsu…The food? He questioned, holding back a chuckle. “Zitami Kaguya.” Strike two. Only one more chance. Still, Kishiro paused to reflect on the irony so far: Someone named for food- candy no less- and the shinobi with the most impressive pedigree in the academy.

Having gone to the academy at the same time as Zitami, Kishiro knew that the spotlight would be all over the young ninja. Well-groomed and well-bred, Zitami was in circumstance everything that Kishiro wasn’t: Special. Everyone from Otogakure knew him and his story: Stolen away from the village he was trained personally by the Raikage. For this, Kishiro felt he rightfully distrusted him. But there was more to Zitami as there often is with people like him. After the war he was again brought up by the Otakage, bringing his flight even higher. Kishiro knew a fair share of Oto who despised the boy for his chances. But he couldn’t help but respect him. He endured years of capture and returned still with a love for his nation, something he shared. But his thoughts were cut short again by the Jonin.

Kishiro Nakamura… Team 43…What on earth? Kishiro couldn’t quite rationalize this placement to himself. Not because he couldn’t see how they would in theory work well together—After all they were practically opposites as far as how they fought—But rather because he simply could not fathom working alongside Zitami. He had always been a flight above him. While Kishiro sat in the second class Zitami often took private lessons. His home was cramped and overcrowded while Zitami resided with the Otakage. In his mind they belonged in different worlds.

Yet they were thrust together and there was little Kishiro could do about it. Closing his eyes, inhaling and exhaling slowly he waited for the Jonin to finish listing out the teams. 43, 44, 45… 50, 60… After some time, things had finished. The instructor left the room, leaving two Chunin behind likely to supervise. Standing up almost immediately after the door had closed behind the man Kishiro took a moment to collect himself. No point worrying over spilt teams. He would make do. In some time, he walked upstairs to room 314, opening the door slowly as other young shinobi walked this way and that outside while finding their rooms. At least he was early.

Natsume Uchiha
In the rear corner of classroom 42, as far as possible from the stern gaze of the instructors as possible, Natsume Uchiha sat, studiously trying to appear as innocent as possible. In a rare display of form Natsume had arrived earlier than most to the meeting here. This was partially because the young Uchiha was genuinely excited to meet her new teammates and teacher but she also had an ulterior motive. With representatives from so many villages gathered here in this one room it was just too tantalizing a target too pass up on! For the last couple of days Natsume had been brainstorming and planning out the perfect prank to unleash on this gathering. Natsume's possible ideas had ranged from the grandiose to the outright dangerous but eventually she had settled on an old classic, with a new twist.

As the head jonin finished reading off the team names and genin began standing up and leaving Natsume made a beeline for the door, moving at a casual pace to avoid arousing suspicion. This mean a few students left the room ahead of her and avoided her trap, but this was an acceptable cost to deflect some attention. As soon as she was clear of the classroom Natsume nonchalantly slid the door closed behind her and dropped a rubber door wedge from her pocket on the floor, sliding it under the door with her foot to jam it in place. Finally Natsume formed a single handseal inside the pocket of the baggy jacket she was wearing, triggering the smoke bomb she had hidden inside a random desk in the classroom earlier, before too many witnesses had arrived. The smoke bomb detonated with a muffled bang and began leaking noxious, black smoke into the classroom, causing panic and confusion, but the true prank was yet to come: Earlier in the day Natsume had sneakily infiltrated the schools basement and found its automated fire suppression systems. replacing the water reservation used for the sprinklers with several dozen litres of her favorite orange soda. As soon as the thick, black smoke reached the smoke detectors embedded in the classroom ceiling the sprinklers would activate, drenching everyone still in the classroom in sticky, sugary soft drink.

Whistling to herself as the smoke alarms began blaring inside the classroom, Natsume strolled off to classroom 314 to meet her new teammates, curious about what sort of people they would be.

"Heya gang! I'm Natsume!" Natsume chirped as she burst in through the doors of classroom 314. "This is gonna be so rad!"

Khione Kuroiyuki

The day started with Khione sitting around the family table for breakfast. Though he was an adult, he chose to remain living in the main Inuzuka house until he felt the need to acquire his own place. At the large table sat his two half brothers, his stepmother, uncle, and father each with a different canine next to them and each with their own reasons for staying silent. "So Kigawa you get a new squad today right?" Ashi broke the silence looking up at his eldest son. "Pa I told you not to call me that" Khione returned locking eyes with his family's patriarch. 'Kigawa Inuzuka' was the name Ashi planned to give his son before the Jonin's mother intervened with the name Khione "But doesn't Khione sound so feminine? how will you ever get a wife with a name like that" his father scolded "and would you look at that, im late for the cermony" Khione mumbled standing up from the table "would you excuse me" he bowed and rushed off before his father could berate him more. standing his room he began to get dressed for the day, he tugged on his black Shinobi pants which was followed by socks and his green boots. He reached in his closet pulling out his standard black t-shirt and his favorite green jacket before throwing them both on and tying his headband around his arm. Khione reached for his mother's necklace but stopped to rub his finger across the worn silver. With a strong sigh, he picked up the necklace and tugged it over his head to let it rest around his neck. Once dressed and after grooming Hiyozan, Khione was ready to head to the academy.

Khione walked down the wide newly placed brick road that lead to the academy, he yawned and scratched his messy bed head that he honestly had no intention of fixing. Hiyozan trotted besides him giving a strong bark while looking up at his master. "yes I know we are late Hiyo but the more important part is that the students will already be there" The Jonin shrugged and his counterpart growled in response. "what do you mean you still don't understand how I became a Sensei " Khione frowned at his best friend "that's rather rude Hiyozan, don't forget im the one who feeds you" he rolled his eyes and pushed open the doors to the academy.

His boots thumped against the steel of the stairs as he walked up to the third floor, room 312 is where he was told to meet his new squad of Genin and needless to say he was intrigued. A member of the Kaguya clan, a ninja from the Sound and a kenjustu user from Konoha sounded like it could be a interesting squad to say the least.

As he approached the door he let out a deep breath preparing himself to possibly send another group of Genin back to the academy. As a Jonin he had certain standards of what a ninja should be and he had no problem relaying that to up and coming ninjas and Genin. he slid open the door and stepped into the class room "good morning, my name is Kuroiyuki Khione. You may call me sensei or simply Khione..." the Jonin paused noticing there was a student missing. He looked at his files that had his new students name on it before continuing his opening statements " A little about me.. I was raised in Yukigakure and moved to Konoha when I was little. im set to be the next head of the Inuzuka clan, and finally this is Hiyozan" he gestured to the canine that now sat by his foot. Hiyozan barked in response wagging his tail side to side "he says it's nice to meet all of you" the dog barked again, nodding to confirm the statement. "now I need to know more about you, tell me your name, where you are from, and one justu you know. Who wants to go first?" Khione leaned against his desk, pushing his glasses up slightly.

Ginji Hyuga

It was a typical morning for Ginji Hyuga. Around the time of 6 AM his alarm clock rang, although Ginji had been waking up at this time for so long an alarm clock really wasn't necessary. He slammed it off, before finally rolling out of bed to his feet. As his eyes adjusted to the light, the 50-year old walked out of his bedroom and into his kitchen to prepare his morning tea. While the tea heated to a boil, Ginji washed and dressed himself appropriately for the day, slipping his typical gear on. Today was a big day after all: He'd get his new team, fresh out of the academy.

The tea pot came to a boil, and steamed out that it was ready. Ginji appropriately poured himself a drink, and grabbed a small meal before stepping out onto his balcony. In front of him lay the village of Konoha, with the sun rising just over the treeline. This was why he always woke up early, Ginji loved to see the orange red hue of the sun paint the sky above the village. Its rays had a mesmerizing effect on the buildings of the village, bringing out their wonderful hues of color in buildings both new and old. This was a sight that never grew old, even as Ginji himself aged over the years. Nothing beat the feeling of the cool morning air against his skin. In reality, it was one of the few places he could peacefully think about his life without the constraint strain of his duties getting the better of him.

Finishing his breakfast, Ginji quickly did his dishes, grabbed his staff, then went back out to his balcony. In a leap, he was off his building and onto the roof of another. Ginji began walking and leaping across the various roofs of Konoha toward the ninja academy. With about an hour to kill, the veteran shinobi decided to take the long way and get a small patrol. While Ginji was a creature of habit, he always made sure that he never took the same route. This was so that no criminal could learn them and potentially evade him. This may sound taxing, but all it involved was just taking different roads and roofs every day.

While the village was busy this morning, there were no disturbances to be found. Within the hour Ginji was walking through the halls of the Academy and toward classroom 314. To his right passed Kaito. The two men met eyes as they passed, and both nodded to each other's presence. Though they once lived radically different lives, each man had grown a great deal of respect for the other. It didn't take long for Ginji to find his classroom, and with 20 minutes to spare he simply leaned against the wall and relaxed.

Soon enough his students had arrived. The first in was Marubaru. His entrance into the classroom was louder than Ginji had anticipated, making the older shinobi jump slightly. He chuckled to himself softly at the sight of this young genin boldly walking into the room with his eyes shut, verbally taking command of it. This young man beamed with confidence. Maru's file had of course mentioned this outward confidence, but seeing was far different than reading it.

"Good morning." Ginji replied with a grin. His voice was more gravely than one would expect.

Next in the classroom was Tachiagari. Much like Maru, she entered the room with a smile and friendly expression. Much the same, Ginji met this with his own friendly grin, and nodded her into the classroom. So far he was matching up to what he'd read in the file as well. Ginji was just fine with that, given how he'd have to immediately start working on fine-tuning team dynamics from the start.

Last but not least was Natsume, the Uchiha. Her entrance was brewed with a certain element of chaos. As she burst in through the doors, the lower floors were emitting various sounds of alarms and panic. Ginji raised a brow, yet he wasn't sensing any great peril that would require evacuation. He wondered if the Uchiha running through so hastily had anything to do with it...but he shrugged it off. Ginji had more important things to deal with. Everyone was here at last, and they could begin their day.

Ginji stood up off of the wall, and walked to the door. "Well, it looks like we're all here." He announced while closing the door, drowning out the sounds of the lower floors.

"Let us begin." Ginji walked to the center of the room, sitting against the desk at the front. "We will start with introductions. I'm your instructor, Ginji Hyuga. Address me as Ginji-Sensei, or just Sensei, please."

He took another look at each of his students, eyeing them up carefully. Though he wouldn't tell them, he had studied each of their files carefully and already had an idea of what he was working with. However, a file only says so much.

"Now, I'd like you all to introduce yourselves to the group. Tell me your name, where you're from, your likes or hobbies, and finally your goals. Likewise, if there is anything else you feel the need to share with the group, please do so."

Watching the sun rise from atop his apartment building he’d been designated to stay in as a transferring shinobi. As the sun climbed higher Zitami watched the Konoha streets fill with people, seeing the number of green jackets grow he decided to make his way to the academy figuring it was at least 7 a.m. Standing up zitami burst into a sprint hopping from rooftop to rooftop sliding underneath hanging clothesline’s avoiding other obstacles.

Making it to the top of the academy he climbed down the backside and looped around to the front hopping to make it to the classroom hoping to get a good spot before they begin assigning teams. Pacing towards the Entrance he seen a Woman and her daughter talking as the mother told her how proud she was of her daughter with tears in her eyes, forcing a memory of the housekeeper and her daughter in kumogakure. “I promise I will get you out of there.” He whispered to himself as he walked through the entrance and towards room 210.

Entering the room Zitami stood in the front his arms crossed and eyes closed as dozens of names rang out before he heard his squads and Instructor. Hearing Nakajima he scoffed silently “ put the sound nin together huh.” he thought to himself. Which necessarily wasn’t a bad thing Kishiro was an extremely hard worker and also hailed from otogakure same as Zitami. “Dango Watanatsu who’s that ?” He said in his head, zitami wasn’t really tied up over who his squad mates were as long as they weren’t a hindrance, Hearing the dismissal Zitami was nearly on the Jonin’s heels as he exited the room and headed to room 312 eager to meet his new sensei.

Entering the room he seen a single face the familiar face of Kishiro. Giving him a glance he faced the door and again folded his arms and closed his eyes and awaited their Sensei. Although Zitami has had a lot of training he hasn’t been in the field before, which burns him up inside filling him with angst to hold up on the request from the otakage “to show the rest of the shinobi world that the sound was small yet strong. “

Hearing the door slide open he opened his eyes to see a taller man with blue eyes and dark blue hair and a dog. Listening to the man introduce himself and ask a question that went unanswered for a few moments. Killing the silence Zitami spoke up “ I am Zitami Kaguya the last of the Kaguya clan and a proud sound Native. And for my jutsu I will show you my Dance of the bell Tree created by my forefather who also had Shikotsumyaku. “ he said stepping back and forcing out multiple sharp bones from his forearm in the shape of a cone.

Dango Watanatsu.

The smokebomb blew.. And now he was stuck in a room full of yelling, orange scented soda falling from the sky and him becoming soaked and wet due to it. His thoughts were intrupted by the smell most of all, and the fact somebody slipped and sent their pack of ninja tools flying into the air and clattering to the floor. Yep, he knew only a few people who would pull this off on the first day, Natsume the devil.

Some people ran to the door, desperately pulling it open but finding it stuck..

There was no escape that way, but being a quick witted fox didn't mean you had to be smart, you just had to be quick on your toes. And on his toes he was, first taking refuge udner the desks, crawling through the bars of desk to desk, getting kicked on occasion by some young girl or two who thought him down there for some other reason, until he reached the other side of the classroom, with his tsuba he popped up the window to the outside world and wriggled and waggled his way out.

He done it before when natsume did something similar in the past, she must be trying the big one again with some new faces in the crowd.

At least this time it wasn't during the dumb dance thing they held a year back.. He still wonders if its because nobody asked her to go.

he would have, but he couldn't go cause he needed to work with mom.

Well, now he was outside the window. latched onto the window sill with a handful of people looking on from outside at the commotion in the room. He looked down at the people below, looked up to the room 312 and then started to climb and clamber his way there. A jump here, a hand over hand struggle there.. And boom he was looking into...

Room 314..? He went too far, the old guy in the room looked familiar though, best he kept going back, no that way was 316, uhh... left then..

So there he hung, outside of 312, arms strained and smelling of stale orange soda. His left hand slipped due to aforementioned soda, but with the hand freed, he slapped it on the window to try and draw attention to it and get somebody to open it. "Heyyy lemme iiiin!!!"

Tachiagari Kagayaku

The Uchiha had arrived last, surely there was a joke to be made there, but it would have been rude to do so and the last thing she ever wanted was to start a fight with someone. When their sensei startedto speak all of Tachiargari's attention was direction to him and her head snapped to his direction. Seated in the front row it was possible to see the uniqueness of the Hyuga eyes and just how pretty they were. The rumors that she had heard around Iwagakure didn't do the Byakugan justice. Then they were asked to introduce themselves and unconsciously Tachiagari raised her hand quickly.

When it finally hit her that she'd be going first, she felt her nerve slowly start to fade away. Worry suddenly racked her mind as she asked the same questions that she always did; what if these people don't like here, what if they disapprove of her lifestyle, what if they were unkind because she wasn't from here. She inhaled a deep and shaky breath in an attempt to refocus her attention and ready herself for any bullying.

"Hi." She started. "My name is Kagayaku Tachiagari and....I'm from Iwagakure." For a moment her eyes darted between the other faces in the room, trying to gauge their reactions, but she continued on. "One of my hobbies is gardening and I like to spend time shopping." She couldn't help but feel silly when she told them she was into gardening and shopping, those could be weird for kids their age and someone who...was born a boy. But the goal was something she thought they might understand, but what if they thought that was the silly thing. "Um...my goal is to...become the best medical ninja so that I can help...my mom." Tachiagari let out a heavy sigh and for a moment her eyes fell to the floor. No matter how tough this was or unhappy she might become, she had to see this through for that one reason. "Also I uh...I am genderfluid and I go by both male and female pronouns." A hint of red dusted Tachiagari's cheeks, accompanied by a bashful smile and then a sigh of relief. Finally it was over.

Natsume Uchiha
Natsume's bright, curious eyes flicked from her instructor to her teammates , drinking in their details and filing them away for later. So her sensei was a Hyuuga, another noble clan and one that was famously uptight even compared to the Uchiha. That sounded like kind of a drag to be honest and he was even an old guy too, Natsume had been expecting their teacher to be a bit younger, didn't old people have more important business-ey stuff to do than babysitting? When Ginji raised his eyebrows at her, Natsume quickly averted her gaze, stopping just short of whistling innocently. If the guy who could see literally see through the back of his head was already onto her things might get tough from here on out!

Thankfully for the time being one of Natsume's teammates decided to take attention away from her with an introduction. Tachiagari was kind of a mouthful and Natsume haad no idea what a "gender fluid" was, maybe a new flavor of soda? Still it was cool to be on a team with someone from another village and they seemed nice enough even if shopping and gardening were kind of boring hobbies, then again maybe she could be persuaded to grow some of the plants needed for goodies like itching powder and stink bombs? Hmmm

Still no matter Tachiagari's possible future utility they couldn't be allowed to hog the spotlight forever! As soon as she finished speaking Natsume bounded forward, her hands diving into her pocket to unveil a pair of party poppers that she let off as she raised her hands dramatically. As confetti gently drifted down to rest on the floor and Natsume's shoulders she covered her face dramatically with a clawed hand and spoke in a low, gravelly voice.

"My name is Natsume Uchiha, I hate a lot of things and I don't particularly like anything-" Natsume lowered her hand to reveal she was sticking her tongue out impishly. "Well except for orange soda and birthday presents!" Natsume said in her natural, high voice. "I'm from right here in Konoha and my goals are to go everywhere I've never been and do everything I've never done! If you aren't a square then you can come along!"

Ginji gave off wise vibes to Maru. Perhaps it was his dwindling age, but something about the way the man spoke reminded him somewhat of his late grandfather. Somewhere deep in his psyche there was a place for solemnity, but outwardly, Maru was still showing gleeful anticipation for listening to his new teammates.

Maru's impressions of the team skewed positively, a small smile lighting up from the energies the two girls gave off. They were two polar opposites, yet Maru made those poles drift even further. His eyes slowly made for Natsume, however, and he could feel a sort of light tension form between them. While Tachiagari was a booning figment in Maru's eyes, being the healer, it would ultimately be the Sharingan he would be compared to going forward. The competitive strain bore no daunting attribute, instead rendered an eager smile as Natsume spoke of her interests--well, lack thereof, but he did make a note to get her orange soda on her birthday.

For Tachiagari, a natural connection was felt, instantly as someone Maru would need to learn to protect, to encourage and keep healthy. As she spoke of her interests, his hand blew up as to ask a question. "Oi! Gardening is super cool, can you grow sweet potatoes? Sweet potatoes are sweet!" He redundantly commented with his per usual beam.

Of course, with his teammates accounted for, Maru was next and there was not a hint of intimidation in his tone. "My name's Marubaru, but my pals just call me Maru. I like training, sword fighting and uh..." Something not ninja related Maru, something not ninja related. His eyes trailed around the room, noticing a manual for a device on the table near his Sensei. "Reading device manuals!" Of course, he hated reading anything, but nevertheless, a stupid smile still remained pasted on his face, his grandfather's words, always do the unexpected!, echoing throughout his thoughts. "I am going to be a Jonin like everyone else in my family and in the future, I will pass my legendary Wind Sword technique to my grandson!" The young boy added on, his hand inching towards the sword that hung on his waist.

His eyes now met with his Sensei's. "So Hyuga Sensei, when do we get the chance to show off our jutsu?"

Khione Kuroiyuki

Khione watched the small demonstration, he had never seen a justu quite like this and unconsciously flinched before regaining his composure. "An interesting Justu to say the least" he pushed up his glasses and opened his mouth to speak but was interrupted by who he assumed was his missing genin tapping on the window. Excusing himself, he walked over to the window and pulled it open to let the orange stained genin through."Im guessing you are the Kenjustu user Dango? Judging from the Katana." Khione pointed at the sword and then took a step back, walking back over to his desk and leaning back against it with his arms crossed. "is there a reason you've missed the introductions of me and your fellow genin, and does it have something to do with the orange all over your hands? it reeks of sugar." the sensei wiggled his nose slightly before rubbing it with a tissue from his pocket.

Hiyozan perked up at the sugary smell, his tail thumping the ground eagerly. The canine jumped up and walked towards the window sniffing out the culprit but stopped when he felt his masters glare burrowing into his neck "Hiyo I thought we wanted to make good first impressions, you're supposed to be a Nindog for gods sake" Hiyozan whined lowly and bounded back to Khione's feet "if you were hungry you should've said something." the Jonin pulled what looked to be a biscuit from his pocket and threw it to the dog who eagerly caught it and laid down to properly enjoy his treat.

Redirecting his attention to the window, Khione waited to greet the third member of his squad and hear his explanations for the his lateness plus the overpowering smell of orange soda and sugar that filled the Jonin's overly sensitive nose.

Dango Watanatsu

The young man, before truely answering any of the questions, shakily pulled himself up, and over, and into the window sill, where he sort of flopped onto the floor and sighed heavily. "Finally... Its hard enough climbing the walls but having an old guy in the first one who looks like he could cut glass with a glare ain't fun."

The young man sat up, planting his two hands behind him to prop himself up and looked into the room finally. "Hey, sorry i'm late. Natsume pulled the "Orange Soda Shower" prank again, a classic but annoying to get outta your nose. Gonna need a bath when O get ho- HOLY SHIT WHAT HAPPENED TO YOUR ARM!?!?!?" The boy pointed towards his, effetive as per a few minutes ago, teammate whos bones were sticking out of his damn body!

"Like dude doesn't that hurt!? Did sensei do that? Or do you got that wierd thing? The keker genkey? How do you make your bones look like that? Theres no blood either!? How much milk DO you drink to do this?! Does it hurt? I already asked that-!

Dog!

Nindog!

So cool!" His attention switched to the nindog immedately, sliding up to it abit to look closer at the animal.

"So cooool, when i heard animals can do jutsu I thought it was a joke but seriously...

Wonder what he can do?

"can I pet you buddy?"

Ginji Hyuga

Ginji listened to each of his new student's answer carefully, sitting attentive for each and every answer. Though his students may not have known this, Ginji put a great deal of weight behind these answers. They gave him insights into their thoughts and desires, and could even give insights in how comfortable they are with the team.

Tachiagari went first. Though he could tell the she was nervous, he was glad she pushed through and answered honestly. Hearing her goals were pleasing to the old Hyuga. They seemed genuine, and gave definitive goals with which Ginji could work with. The comments on her gender identity threw Ginji off a little bit, as he wasn't expecting her to address it so boldly right away. However, they did not bother him. Even though he was old, he didn't care what his student identified as so long as they gave him their best. To Ginji, the only thing about Tachiagari that currently bothered him was her nervousness around the team. He'd have to work on building her confidence to speak her mind with ease.

Next was Natsume. Her entrance was...memorable to say the least. Ginji didn't find it amusing, in fact it annoyed the jonin as many would have likely anticipated. Yet rather than scold, or even look annoyed, Ginji made an effort not to react to it. As the confetti dropped past Natsume's face, nothing changed about his posture, or the expression on his face. If the young Uchiha wanted his attention she wouldn't earn it like that. For a moment he thought the charade might be over and the Uchiha would get serious...but he was wrong. Natsume continued pushing his buttons in a blitzkrieg of obnoxiousness that was surprising even to the likes of Genji, a man who thought he'd seen it all. Was she making fun of his voice?! Why is she making faces and not taking this seriously? Orange soda? Though the Uchiha didn't seem to take introductions too seriously, Ginji learned what he needed to know. Team 51 had a clown, for better or worse.

Last was the young swordsman Maru. Compared to Natsume, his answer was a breeze of fresh air, at least at the start. Like many other shinobi boys, he was fond of fighting, training and...device manuals? Ginji was puzzled, though he didn't show it. Marubaru's file mentioned nothing of the boy being a gearhead or tinkerer of any sort. That, accompanied by how he acted made Ginji extremely skeptical of this claim. Ginji wouldn't call the boy's bluff, but just the idea of Maru lying to him from the get-go bothered him. Why lie to your team immediately? Lying to comrades was something Ginji wouldn't tolerate, and though Maru didn't know it, Ginji would be following up these claims as he saw fit.

Maru immediately followed with a direct question to Ginji. The boy wanted to show off jutsu. Once again Maru grinned, at least the boy was eager.

"You'll get your chance...but let's go over some things first."

Ginji then addressed his students regaurding their introductions.

"You all certainly had some..." He paused for a moment, looking at both Natsume and Maru. "Interesting answers, to say the least."

"I want you all to know that I've brought each of you onto my team because I think I can help you with your goals. Tachiagari, you speak about wanting to become a great medical nin-justsu user. You'll be pleased to know that I'm quite proficient in medical jutsu, and will be teaching you what I know to set you on the path. Not many others can teach you the chakra control needed for such techniques better than a Hyuga."

"Natsume... you clearly have a desire for adventure. I intend for us to travel far and wide to help where we're needed most. You'll get your chance to see and do things others haven't. I'm also proficient in dojutsu, and may even be able to help you with your own."

"Maru, if your desire is to become a jonin and pass on your knowledge then you're with the right person. Follow my instructions, and give me your absolute best and I guarantee you'll be a chunin on his way to Jonin in just a few years. And though I'm not a swordsman, I'm skilled with my staff. I have some techniques you can certainly use with a blade."

"As your instructor I want to bring out the best in each of you...but in return you have to me your best. That goes beyond just effort in training. With the rank of genin you are no longer academy students. You're shinobi now, and I'm going to treat you like one. That means I expect you to be on your best behavior. I won't tolerate lying, stealing, cheating, or any forms of abuse toward your comrades, as well as innocent civilians. You will be taught techniques and skills to trick, deceive, and hinder your enemies...but they will only be used as necessary and not for your personal gain. Now that you're shinobi the world expects more of you, and so do I."

Ginji paused for a moment, to let his message sink in.

"If you agree to these terms, then stay. I'll be happy to train you and we will begin our training lesson for the day. Otherwise, if you feel the responsibility of being a shinobi is too much, then leave. I want nothing to do with you."

Going into this Tachiagari had expected becoming a shinobi to be a very big deal, for everyone. So far it seemed that was only true for himself though. They had worked their butts off to prove to their teachers and the world that they were ready and able to take on the shinobi way of life, but here his teammates were making jokes rather than taking it seriously. He couldn't help but watch and cringe inwardly at the responses that followed his own, somewhat unsure now if he had been placed on a team with people who had passed or failed the academy. More than once his eyes went to Ginji sensei, but the man was unreadable, surely he was upset at this though. All Tachiagari knew was that he didn't want to be held back or slowed down because of the two of them.

When their sensei finally spoke his words brought a weak, sincere smile to Tachiagari's face. Hearing that declaration made it all the more real that his hard work was paying off. Ginji sensei believed in his goal and promised to help him achieve it. Tears swelled up in his eyes and Tachiagari took a deep breath to fight them back. He could already see his dreams coming true.

Sniffling Tachiagari wiped his eyes while their mentor went on to speak to the other two. He hadn't been this happy in a long time and hadn't felt this certain in an equally long period of time. It was for that reason that he didn't get up when sensei gave them one final chance to back down and leave. From the corners of his eyes Tachiagari spared brief glances at his teammates, wondering whether this was really what they wanted, especially the noisy Uchiha.

Natsume Uchiha
Hmmm I don't think any of them got the reference Natsume thought, glancing carefully around at the looks she was getting from her teammates and sensei. Whelp they can't all be winners, Natsume mused cheerfully as Sensei launched into a stern lecture about all kinds of things like why they had been assigned to his team and what it meant to be a genin and stuff. Natsume paid attention, but mostly because Ginji seemed like the type of adult who would get especially mad if you promised not to do something and then did it anyway.

Lemme see abuse is just lame; stealing is easy cause I can just get people to buy me stuff I want, cheating is no fun anyway cause what's the point in playing then? Lying... well... there's gotta be some wiggle room in there somewhere right? Like it's not technically lying if you don't say the whooooole truth or you just sort of rearrange the truth right? Anyway grownups lie all the time.

Natsume felt like she could more or less swing all of those criteria, even if she couldn't it wasn't like she was going to leave anyway. Being a shinobi was all she had ever really considered being, everyone in her family was a shinobi and they were all totally fixated on her being one too. The idea that Natsume might actually just stand up now and go be a painter or something was frankly hilarious. The idea was so funny that Natsume briefly considered doing it, if only to see the looks on her relatives' faces, but she doubted even she could get away with a stunt like that without having to sit through some very tedious lectures. That's why it seemed kind of weird to Natsume that Tachiagari was trying to hold off tears a little. They seemed like happy tears not sad tears, but it still seemed like a strange reaction to her. Being a shinobi wasn't that big a deal, it was just... what was expected.

Still it wasn't any fun to rain on somebody's parade so Natsume turned her expectant gaze back to Sensei, if they were gonna train then they should train already! Nobody was going anywhere!

A cold stone rippled throughout Maru's body, as a drop of sweat drained from his cheeks while Ginji spoke of his criteria. Stealing, cheating, abuse and... lying. He had not given it much thought, but he had just lied in front of his team mates. It was a simple stupid lie, something he would tell his mother to think he was doing his homework, but he was a shinobi now. Guilt washed over his body like a frigid wave, his hands clenching tightly as Ginji continued his speech. His eyes ashamedly wandered between Natsume, Tachiagari and then finally Ginji. Becoming a Jonin was his calling, there was no way Maru could refuse such an offer and from an esteemed Jonin as well. Maru's teeth clenched, but as he deeply inhaled, resolve filled his spirit. Along with becoming Jonin, he would have to become the best device manual reader that ever lived. There was a dash of regret hidden within his visage, but his body stature was still astute.

He was relatively frozen as the two other members made their decision. Marubaru was relatively moved by Tachiagari's tears, his head rearing as she began to bawl. Of course, Maru did not understand such a response, but it did light a fire in his heart.

"Hyuga Sensei!" He erupted. "There is nothing in the world that will make me turn down your offer!" Maru exclaimed, his body forming a vicious bow. "From here on, I will be your pupil and a proud member of team 51 until the day I die!" Maru gasped, forgetting to breath throughout his spiel.

His arms reached for Natsume and Tachiagari, a booming posture kept as he tried to wrap his arms around the pair's shoulders energetically. "No time for crying Tachiagari! Let's get training!"

Kishiro Nakajima

Kishiro stared in abject horror at the room around him. Zitami's arm was, for lack of a better word, bony, while Dango was proving himself as unpredictable as any adolescent could hope to be. Seeing the boy tap on the window was all he needed to know about the young shinobi, but the overpowering sugary stench and his fixation with the dog confirmed every imaginable thought Kishiro could've had about him.

"Kekkei Genkia." He announced, speaking before he could fully process the entire situation. Taking a second to fully size up Dango, Kishiro was impressed in a way. Despite his appearance he had made it this far, which was impressive in its own right. Maybe it was wrong of Kishiro to have judged him so quickly. Or maybe that was the orange soda talking.

"Sensei." Kishiro said with a bow towards the Jonin, "May we see Dango's jutsu?" He questioned. He spoke with force, half demanding Khione spurn Dango on, half earnestly wondering what the boy could do. With an entrance that intriguing, Kishiro was genuinely interested what tricks he had up his sleeve, although still he viewed the boy in the same light as he did the Nindog; An interesting distraction. His contempt was beginning to show itself. Perhaps he wanted Dango to fail spectacularly.

Although as quickly as those feelings rose Kishiro shook them off. It was rude to judge his teammates so quickly, after all. Perhaps Dango could amaze him as Zitami had. Hopefully in a less grotesque way, still. In the mean time he needed to figure out what jutsu he would perform. Kishiro's knowledge was rather limited, really only being able to reliably form a simple clone and a short body-flicker technique. Until then however, he was hoping Dango would put on a good show.

Retracting the bones back into his forearm he he couldn’t help but let out a small laugh at Dengo’s entrance. He was by far a definite wildcard which could make or break a team but at least he may give some comedic relief. Then hearing that Uchiha’s name again she maybe an interesting one aswell “ I’ll have to keep an eye out for her.” He said softly they didn’t play pranks on each other in otogakure so this was fairly surprising to him.

Hearing Kishiro’s comment he too was now wondering what could’ve made Dengo want to be a shinobi. “ I agree sir I think we should hear from Dengo considering he already has the floor.” Zitami chimed in noticing the sword on his back.

Looking over at Kishiro “ What jutsu are you looking to go with?” He whispered curiously Kishiro was a hard worke back at the academy in otogakure as he always seen him arriving early and staying late, to be honest he couldn’t imagine a better genin to be on a team with.

Giving another look at his sensei couldn’t get a good read on the jonin, he seemed pretty relax but he had an odd aura to him hinting there was a more serious side to his new master. “ I bet he’s some sort of badass, if your too cool all the time your bound to fail.” He thought to himself.

Khione Kuroiyuki

Hiyozan couldn't contain himself anymore, the sugary smell filled his canine nostrils to the brim and then spilled over onto his tastebuds which were eagerly waiting at the chance to devour whatever this heavenly smell came to be. The Nindog bounded over to the boy, eagerly lapping at his orange covered hands whilst his canine drool seeped from his mouth while his tongue attacked the boys hands almost viciously. Hiyo stopped for a second to look at his master "this is my new friend" the dog barked happily before continuing his assault on the boy and in turn his master shook his head with a small sigh

Khione watched the boy freak out over his teammates Justu suppressing a chuckle. The young shinobi’s justu took him by surprise just moments ago so he felt slightly better not being the only one taken aback. The Jonin cleared his throat "well?" he asked, turning his attention to Dango. "Care to show us a Justu or technique? I am interested to see your current level of sword skills" He gestured for the young Shinobi to begin, pushing his glasses back up onto cold blue eyes. "you may begin whenever you are ready" Khione crossed his arms and waited patiently for the boys demonstration.

Khione himself was a kenjustu practitioner, he had learned to mix the Inuzuka fighting style with that of his mothers Snow sword techniques to create a deadly fighting style that was both devastating and unpredictable. Having another kenjustu user on his team would mean he could pass down some techniques or help the boy create his own. Maybe he would get the chance to show them when they head out to the training fields for their training and final examination.

Dango Watanatsu

"HAHAHAHAH~!" Dango was overjoyed by the dog's friendship. But now.. NOW he was being called out, since he was less sweet and more sobbery... he figured it's bets to stand up and face the music. "uhh.. Yea.. Wana see me do my thing huh? Well, uhh..." he scratches behind his head. "I'll uhh.. Do my best! But umm.. I do.. kenjutsu, and abit of tai.. kinda hard to do without a target and sensei my school said not to do it all inside cause I break stuff but.." but THIS sensei was saying to do it!

He puts a hand on the sword on his back and unties it with the other, carrying the sword and sheath, he pops the sword out with the thumb... And with too much force it clatters to the floor. "EH!?

Ah.." he quickly picks up the sword. "umm.. I... I use my sword and... Sheath together and... umm.." off his groove, he tries to recover.... "And.. Uhh... Umm... Do.. Do I have to do stuff? or jsut say what I do?"

"..Do.. Do we go somewhere else?" he wasn't crying, you're crying!

"I'm not the best but I try! And I fight good! I smack things and slice things! And.. uhh... Do my job..?"

He was... Kinda being awkward at the moment.

Khione Kuroiyuki

Khione stares at the stuttering ninja in disbelief before scratching the back of his head with a small sigh 'All I asked was for you to show me a justu not have an entire breakdown' he groaned to himself, he would facepalm if it didn't mean breaking his glasses. He understood the boy's nervousness from getting put in the spot light but he didn't think it would go quite like this. Refocusing his attention, he stood upright and cleared his throat signaling both for the boy to stop rambling and for Hiyozan to return to his side before placing his hands in his pockets. "If you can't preform the justu indoors fine, we'll view it when we head to the training field."

After hearing what he had said he realized it sounded a little more harsh than it needed to be. " Look, for now just try to calm down?" the Jonin shook his head "Theres also not much to break in this class if you were scared of that" he stated gesturing to the bare room aside from the desks and chairs "I also practice kenjustu, though its a......different style than what's taught in Konoha" the Jonin grinned slightly, his blue eyes peering at the boy from his desk "we'll get to group spar and I can help you with some techniques. If you can't show me your full strength then I won't be able to help you progress as a ninja" His eyes darted to the other two genin "that goes for you as well"

With that out of the way he looked at Dango with a straight face, "you are however, required to explain what your justu is" he pushed up his falling glasses with a small huff. "We still have one more teammate to introduce so I would prefer you do it with haste" his face straightened in his attempt to be somewhat serious without making the boy a feverous wreck all over again.

Dango Watanatsu

Damn, his trick of keeping the technique stuff secret until they got into some action didn't quite work. Yes, that was totally the plan and there is no way anyone could possibly prove it otherwise... He just wasn't as good of a prank artist as Natsume. His earlier nervousness fell off him like a shroud, though he did wipe his eyes. "Right, well.. Uhh.. Short version I do my best to try and utilize my sheath to break open guards and deal a good strong strike with my katana. Long version I know of various areas in the body to strike with both my blunt sheath and sword to help me later on should I need to weaken my opponent and...

Yea...

Uhh...

The belt tie of my sheath is handy for throwing it and bringing it back... And the reason I don't do it indoors cause My last Sensei got real made when we broke the window..." he coughs lightly, putting away his weapon for now, he places the butt of the sheath on the floor, looking like a guy holding a walking stick trying to look important.

"...But yea... I ain't no fancy dancy fellah! And I work hard! Got no fancy blood stuff, just an ordinary fellah with a sharp metal stick and a dream to be better yea know?"
