The message had finally been sent.
Scarlet observed as her phone's faint buzzing announced successive notifications slowly but certainly. The tremor brought on a whispered curse. The laptop she had open-lidded on the polished oak desk vanished into a grey mist with a wave of her hand that resembled smoke from a freshly kindled fire. She stood up with a delighted smile as she faced the closed curtains and noticed the barely discernible form of a figure quickly stepping away. If she hadn't known any better, she would have dismissed it as a mental illusion. But, unfortunately, she had known better.
"You may open it up to them and please remember to treat our guests with the same respect that you do me."
The invisible person relocated once more, but this time, it moved toward the headmistress rather than away from her. This time, instead of seeing it, she felt the little shift it made as they moved through the space. She would be hosting a fairly full home of kids in an hour, with all types of backgrounds and origins. both new and old pupils. She had plenty of experience managing larger academies, so she wasn't sure what to make of the prompt comments each of her new students had sent. Even though they were aware that the chances were typically stacked against them, she had to commend them for their courage—even if it was motivated by ignorance.

She could feel the small nod of understanding from the transparent figure and with that confirmation, Scarlet took one last look at the scene displayed in the windows before her before exiting the spacious lounge of the office. The new day was still young and the nearly invisible figure watched as Apollo drove his sun chariot through the sky, replacing his sister's beautiful silvery moon before it finally went off to carry out its own task of spreading news around the campus ground.
Scarlet noticed her very own Vice leave the comfort of his own office as she cast an inquisitive glance down the lengthy hallway that had housed her office. No matter how long they had been coworkers or how many more times they would cross paths, she was never quite sure what to think of him. She could only be certain that he had been a man with minor flaws in her opinion.
Scarlet nodded formally to him as a much too genuine smile appeared on her lips. One could compare such a rare sight to a spring flower's bloom. One could see how it came from deep inside to light her deeply intelligent eyes and spread into every part of her. But this was not all that would make it seem so sweet. To put it simply, a person can smile with more than their mouth. It was more the simple way that she relaxed at the sight of the man.
She would then turn aside and walk out of the hallway, leaving him to finish his duties.

For a week straight, Scarlet had been getting ready for the new year. Even though she wasn't in school for the majority of that time, she had been so busy that she hadn't slept in months. She entered a field that had been behind the main building after leaving the school through the main entrance. Before speaking, Scarlet walked over to a hooded figure in the grass who was standing by himself.
"You may let the path show." She then walked away as the man started to work again.
On the ground of all the incoming students, a blue shimmering path that led to the Transportation Building began to fade into full color.

The headmistress would soon return to her office and took the mic off her desk, turning it on and speaking into it.
"All members of the N.A.S. personnel, I welcome you to another academic year at this institution!"
She took a brief pause before turning to a letter that had been lying on her desk's left side. It bore the name "Tisharia Holland" at the bottom and was circled in red pen.
"In order to participate in orientation in the school's auditorium, I propose that you either take your seats outside the designated classes or get ready to do so. Please be prepared by then since they should arrive in an hour."
She picked up the letter and then turned off the speaker. As she sighed and slightly frowned, Scarlet would recline in her cushioned seat and attentively read each word with her sharp brown eyes.

Catalina Jacobs - Wind Student
Excited, yet confused
Transportation Building
None (Open)

There was something about the sky. Sitting on the hill that overlooked her home, Catalina couldn't help but feel drawn to it, watching as the thin clouds slowly drifted apart, presenting the beautiful dome above her. Speaking out to her, the sky seemed to know every one of her thoughts, her dreams, her darkest fears. The sky looked to be but a canvas of light, creating a new picture within seconds. Weaving a story through the delicate clouds, the picture growing beyond the expanse of the sky. The colors splay before Catalina, stunning and simple. Pink hues morph into vibrant purples as they blend with the beautiful blues.

The female found herself getting lost in the sight so perfectly displayed in front of her. She had spent hours getting dressed prior to coming here, not counting her hair. Most days, she would never put so much effort into her look just to stand outside alone and stare at clouds all day. But that was a long time ago; When she had no time to look up and no time to stop. Now she did and there was nothing she had ever seen before that could compare. There were crowds of people parading somewhere around town....probably drunk. If not, then she had a feeling it was just about time. Their excited chattering and the occasional howl of laughter echoed down narrow streets, making their faint cries able to be heard from miles around. Even from the far distance that Catalina sat away from.
After a good hour of enjoying the outside, she'd stood on her feet and brushed her clothes off. It was just about time for her to head off as staying any later could result in very unsavory consequences.

She stood on the roof of the place she called home, her impossible snow-white hair whipping in the wind as she looked down at the world below. A smile spread across her lips and she closed her eyes before leaning off the ledge and letting herself fall.
.......
......
.....
....
...
..
.
Small waves of pure air wrapped around her wrists as the wind grew heavy around her. And suddenly, she hadn't been free-falling anymore.
Calmly sinking down onto the pavement, the currents around her shifted to support her. The feeling was too familiar for her to think much of it but it was still thrilling, to say the least.
All that she needed to do now was not mess this up.

Once her feet finally met the ground, a neon blue path began to illuminate beneath Catalina's feet as she slung a decently weighted duffle bag over her shoulder. Her sparkling blue eyes dilated slightly as this happened. She stooped to take a closer look out of curiosity, only to discover that the plants and surrounding ground weren't blue in the first place. This curious truth caused Catalina to pause and consider how something so...Unnatural could be conceivable.
Catalina, however, soon seemed undeterred by the slight surprise and began to follow the trail toward a large stone structure.
Hours later she found herself on the hard stone ground of a new place entirely. Staring at the large building, Catalina was unsure of what she was supposed to do from there. She had never seen the structure there before but took notice of the name "Noroth's Academy of Sorcery" Engraved on either side of the entrance that she stood in front of. Underneath the engravings in smaller letters were the words, 'transportation'. Was she meant to just..go in? Was she supposed to wait for other people? Maybe she was supposed to have a buddy with her or some kind of code...Being here now in utter confusion, she began to wish that she had asked for instruction ahead of time....
Making her way inside despite the inconvenience of the situation, Catalina would sit in one of the chairs that had been put out and decided to go through her bag once more.

"Are you sure there's nothing we can do to keep you? I know I couldn't get you much more, but twenty four dollars an hour is almost unheard of for a kid your age."

"Sorry, Beckley. I just realize that maybe going full on career mode at seventeen isn't quite what I want to do with my life. But like this, I'm still eligible for rehire, right? I'll come back, I'm sure."

Laurent had just finished his last two weeks at the Medical University Hospital Association, and while passing up a wage like that might sound crazy in any other context, Luce had lined up for himself and infinitely more rewarding opportunity. His parents had taught him growing up not to follow his dreams, but to follow what would let other people follow their dreams. In that regard, his crucial work in medical-grade air conditioning help protect lives. The negative pressure rooms made to prevent the spread of disease, and the positive pressure rooms designed to keep safe immuno-compromised peoples. Like this, he could keep people around long enough to live the lives they might want to. Still, he'd found a new calling; much later than intended, but like this Laurent had the thought that maybe he could do more. What he did now, anyone could do; this new thing he'd found though, who else in the world could do what he does? No doubt many people, but if he had the chance to join them, he wanted to take it.

Stepping out of his building and onto the alleyway between the campus buildings; Luce adjusted his long, open, crimson cardigan as he had made a point to change out of his old uniform before leaving. Laurent wanted to make the best first impression he could on his peers. It was exciting, to think that on the other side of this he could find his equals. For too long he'd been left unchallenged, and prayed for it to change. And upon looking down to the neon lights that snaked down from his feet and deeper into the alley, he thought his prayers maybe answered.

"Alright, let's get this fuckin' bread." Luce stuck his hands into his pockets and kicked his heel into the ground. From where he stood, a long path of ice manifested and followed the neon path and amplifying that light a slight bit more. The sharp blue cutting through the darkness of the night, Luce reflected on how nice it'd be to live life during the day again.

Taking a few quick, hopping steps, Laurent took off at a moderately quick skate down his ice path.

"All members of the N.A.S. personnel, I welcome you to another academic year at this institution!"

Vice-Headmaster Vanderghos' head lifted slightly from the PA system overhead. As Headmistress Forlake continued, Vincent made his way to the final destination of the students arriving at the academy this day. He and Scarlet always made it a point to be the first two to greet the students into the school, even limiting staff interaction during transport. That said, Vanderghos usually made it there first each year, same this year. The headmistress did have a great deal of preparations to attend to, things he could always attend to instead. She would always refuse the offer each time, it was always something 'she needed to see through'.

"Yeah, but then I've got nothing to do but sit around, damnit." He tightened his tie the slightest bit, remembering the time Scarlet made fun of him for not having a neck. He sighed at the memory. "I hope I don't look too terrible. Teenagers can be so ruthless sometimes." Let's hope they don't roast him too bad.

---

It was a leisurely thing, this stroll down the blue brick road. Though Laurent was quickly becoming impatient at the pace. Not wanting to waste time, his sliding quickly became skating. He hadn't a whole long time with his powers, but the first thing he made a point to learn is movement utility. Anything that could save time was useful to him. Soon he'd found his way out into a strange stone plaza, host to a rather strange looking building.

"Noroth's Academy of Sorcery." Laurent read aloud.

If you'd asked him even a month ago if he believed in magic and witchcraft and sorcery and runes and all this mess, he'd've laughed in your face and made some passing remark about how you probably believe in astrology too. Still, to be amongst it now. Moreso than seeing, feeling truly is believing.

Luce pushed into the cathedral-esque building, looking in, he was surprised he wasn't the first person there, or the last. In fact, there was only one person, his eyes locking with her instantaneously. Upon their eye contact, he felt this weird gust of wind. Must've been his imagination, still--Damn this human instinct. She was quite beautiful, he'd say. There was a fun balance in her eyes and their shape, rounded and soft while sharpening outwards on the ends. Her hair framing her longer, sharper face in a nice way. Her outfit was simple, but effective. Really, in short all he could think was--cute. Though, he didn't doubt he would be saying that a lot as people continued to file in. Until then, it was just them two, and he'd been staring at her unflinchingly for damn near twenty five seconds uninterrupted. Let's hope he hadn't scared her at all, though his natural scowl no doubt guaranteed that. Quick, icebreaker, go!

"First here, huh? Must be swift as the wind to be first of--" Then Luce had a thought. "However many of us... are coming."

Nailed it.

Jordan Verlice - Fire Student
Cautious & Casual
Transportation Building
None (Open)

Jordan was ready to depart for N.A.S. hours before it was necessary. She made it a point to get up at five in the morning, which was often a couple of hours earlier than everyone else in her home. Jordan naturally still had her key to the house because her roommate had first neglected to remove it, so she quickly turned it in the bottom keyhole and gently pulled the front door open. Jordan could not help but cringe at the prolonged creaking sound that followed the door sliding open, even though she knew it would happen.

She stood still and quiet, waiting to see if the sound had caught the attention of anyone supposedly sleeping inside. She moved past the dining room, which had four plates of dirty dishes piled up at its center table, before entering the living area that the house had opened up to. After finishing dinner, she assumed that everyone simply went to bed.
They frequently left their used dishes on the table to be added to the to-do list for the following day. But the odd thing was that her sister would routinely wash the dishes right away rather than waiting until the morning to save herself some time whenever her sister stayed awake late enough to eat dinner with their housemates. It was obvious that her sister had been in the house because there were three clearly empty plates on the table. Why on earth would the dishes still be there is a mystery.

Jordan could only sigh, figuring that wasting her time figuring out the answer to a question that didn't involve her was pointless. So she moved. She walked down the hallway where four rooms lined the hall. The bathroom, then the study, her sister's room...and Jordan's room.
The fiery girl quickly inhaled as she became aware of her body becoming rigid. For some reason, the mere thought of returning to her room made her uncomfortable. The identical location that she had spent months attempting to avoid seeing. It turned out to be her torment on earth even though the chamber was supposed to be her refuge. Jordan collected herself and entered her old room. She could see that everything was exactly how she had left it, making it simple to locate the suitcases she had hidden in her closet. There were three in total, the first containing her clothing, the second her weapons and literature, and the third her toiletries and cosmetics. Before leaving the house, she carried two on her shoulders and then cradled the final one in her arms.

Jordan observed a blue light begin to emerge and widen in front of her feet as she stepped outside the front door after locking it again. Naturally, she didn't question it and continued along the illuminated route. Simply because that was the first thing she thought to do, not out of curiosity or an educated estimate as to what it was. Jordan was unable of refuting a gut instinct, and this...slightly ominous path would not alter that fact either.

From this point on, her main goal was to disappear and fit in.

Sabrina Robinson - Earth Student
Relaxed & Calm
Transportation Building
None (Open)

Moving on to a new school was something Sabrina nearly dreaded. She had been home-schooled as a small child by a teacher her father had learned from himself. She endured this up until she was about twelve years old. Despite her Earth-Borne talents, she had been attending what most people would consider a private academy in the city of Wind for the past four years. However, on her father's orders, she was to forget everything she knew and pack her bags to start fresh at a new school full of people like herself while using the change to experience true diversity and mingle with fellow upper-class students as an excuse. This was due to his growing paranoia and often overbearing protective nature.

By the morning of that specified day, Sabrina was nearly prepared to leave because she had started meticulously putting her belongings into a sizable leather duffel bag after receiving the acceptance letter two days before. She invested her morning in getting ready and packing a few last-minute items. When she was prepared, she sneaked out of her room and into the corridor that was just outside the door, slinging her duffle bag over her right shoulder. It took her some time to find the French doors that led outdoors as she made her way down to the front entrance. The white-haired beauty had barely made it out of her house when the ground beneath her began to glow. Though her brow furrowed briefly in confusion, the clever young lady was quick to understand what was going on and continued down the unfamiliar path.

If a sign bearing the name of the academy had not appeared in front of her, she may well have wondered if she had been duped. Before falling behind a few strangers who were walking toward the designated check-in area, the heiress took a minute to take in her new surroundings. It seemed like quite a few students had beaten her there, judging by the circumstances.
Choosing to be polite and leave those early kids to their own, Sabrina took a seat as far back as possible and began to scroll through her cell phone.

Over centuries ago, Letty's hometown was nothing more than a small village under the largest Wind empire of that time. However, due to their tyranny, the hero Dietrich Leblanc led a revolution and successfully broke free. As time passed, that small village became a coastal city that attracted tourists and provided jobs for local. As of present, it became a city-state that maintained good relationships with empires and countries around the world and was currently one of the most popular tourist destination ever existed. The responsibility of overlooking such place fell on generations of Leblanc family, the direct bloodline of the hero who founded the city that inherently possess more wind power than anyone living here. After the one of the most successful reign of Camille Leblanc, it was now time to decide the new head, and of course it was going to be herself, Auretta Leblanc, the most talented—

"Letty"
"—Mnn?"
"We're almost there"

A dream? It was historically accurate though, excluding that last bit...

"Seriously, how could you even fall asleep here?"

Strong wind constantly blew past the two siblings. The young woman who wryly said that in a kind voice, Aurora Leblanc, was flying and using her power to carry her younger sister along at extremely high speed. The distance between her home and the appointed location from Noroth was approximately a thousand miles, a distance that even Aurora who almost matched her mother in term of maximum flying speed still required more than 2 hours to travel. If she flew alone, she could make it under 2 hours, but there was no helping it since she volunteered to do this.

In the past few days, harassment toward Letty got awfully worsened. Perhaps he was at it again. Aurora thought about her big brother and clenched her fist. Months ago, she fended off an independent contractor girl whose target was kidnapping Letty. And later she heard a rumor that it was none other than Audrey who was behind that incident. However, as long as she had no evidence, her mother who was too busy with external affairs would never interfere with whatever going on in the house. That event was why she volunteered to handle Letty's trip this time. She would never let the house which that man had more influence than her dealing with her younger sister ever again.

A few minutes after that, the siblings reached their destination. As soon as Letty's feet touched the ground, it began to lit in blue, guiding her into the nearby building. While Aurora didn't see it, nor had any experience with the place, she had enough knowledge to understand how a system like this would function.

"Go ahead Letty. Your new life start now—" She paused as her little sister didn't move an inch. In fact, she felt more power in the hand that was grabbing the hem of her shirt. "Don't worry. No one here is going to hurt you. And now that you have a phone we can talk as long as you want" The hand that was grabbing her lost a bit of strength, but its owner would never let go that easily. "Letty, we already talked about this. No one in this world can fly as fast as me..." Maybe except mom and some other powerful mages around the world, but sometimes facts were unnecessary. "If you ever have any problem, I will come to you right away. Remember, now you are free and we will always be together" Letty finally let her big sister go and suddenly turned away to hide her face. What are you, a 7 years old girl? Aurora thought and briefly looked around. Fortunately for her and her sister, no one seemed to be around in that embarrassing moment. After a while, Letty turned to her sister one last time. Her eyes were visibly more red than usual, but with a bit of bias Aurora could think of it as a light of determination.

"Well then Sis, I'll get going."
"Take care!"

The moment Letty turned her back on her and started walking the path of new life, Aurora felt a surge of emotions and couldn't hold back her tears any longer. She decided to use that moment to summon wind and fly off at high speed. She originally planned to paid her old friend who was now a teaching staff at this school a visit, but thinking again, just thanking her for giving Letty a chance to study here in their usual chatting app should be enough. In fact, she already had a valid excuse of tight schedule where she need to be presented at her hometown 3 hours from now anyway.

Looking at the figure of her big sister until it was too small to be seen, the white haired girl then put on her headphone, turned on the music and raised the volume before walking into the building.

After entered, Letty sat at a random seat around the middle row with no one sitting nearby. For the girl who was constantly being told that she was defective, that she was a trash who wasn't trying hard enough, that she wasn't supposed to be born and that she should just disappear for the sake of her family, a brief moment when no one was talking to her was truly a bliss. In addition, she just got the first phone of her life a few days ago. And exploring it was still one of the most enjoyable thing in the world.

Location: Transportation Building
Interaction: None (Open, if you are willing to get past a headphone barrier with loud music enhancement)

a0TbO8t.png

The morning of the entrance ceremony, or whatever it is called in this school, Freesia opened her eyes and energetically stretched her limbs before jumping down from a firm tree branch. While she certainly had more than enough money to afford some luxurious hotel room, spending a night in the forest was something she was fond of thanks to its convenience and increased safety. The girl telepathically chatted with nearby trees for a while before leaving the forest and heading to a place known to locals as an ordinary cafe.

After saying a certain string of words, the barista let her pass through without giving a second glance. Entering the dim room behind the shop, Freesia threw her luggage on the ground before casually sidestepping.

A knife swiftly passed through where she was standing a second ago.

"C'mon Papillion, I don't think that's a good way to greet people."
"I only do this to some shameless brat who earned enough money to buy a house just from last week's job alone and still acting as if she is homeless."

The deep and confident female voice spoke from the direction the knife came from. Freesia, who skillfully pulled the knife from the wall and threw it back to the kitchen area without looking, let out a playful smile.

"I already spent like half of them though, and in a sense, I'm actually a cute, homeless girl like you said."
"Pffft, I never said anything about you being cute."

While exchanging such lines with the black-haired middle aged woman who still looked like she was in her thirties, Freesia picked up and tossed the latest model of smartphone toward the other party as a proof that she actually spent the money. She then nonchalantly stripped and entered the bathroom as if it's her own house.

"Is it true that you are enrolling N.A.S. starting from today?"
"Huh, where did you hear that? I haven't even told Dealer and—"
"Magenta"
"Ah, I need to teach that guy a lesson. Still, you really have no need to go out of your way to pry. I came here to tell you anyway."
"Is that so?"

For independent contractors who would do anything for money and basically live in the dark side, being female is a rare quality in itself. As such, both of them were quite close to each other and Freesia was being honest when she said that. But of course, since everyone with codenames is capable of lying as naturally as breathing, the girl didn't expect her colleague to believe her so easily. In their circle of business, carelessly trusting words not coming from a credible management person like Dealer could be an immediate death sentence.

"Why? I don't think a money-grubber like you could stay in a school while completely ignoring jobs and their payoffs. Is that some special task with insane reward?
"How rude. I'm just working enough to pay for my basic needs. Also, why did you consider an ordinary 17 years old girl going to school a special task?"

Papillion looked at the freshly bought smartphone in her hand the moment Freesia said "basic needs" and rolled her eyes upward. "Hey, what's the meaning of that? Smartphone is definitely a young girl's basic need!" A protest came out of the bathroom, where there should be no way to see what's going on outside.

"Yeah, yeah, you are the exact opposite of an ordinary young girl though" Papillion sighed before picking up Freesia's tossed bag and placed it along with her smartphone on the table. She even tossed the girl's old shirt and jeans into a pile of her own used clothes. The tall woman then changed into a formal suit. They may have been bickering with each other whenever they have a chance, but both of them were professionals who know what they were doing. If that girl was really going to enroll a boarding school like that, then the number of jobs she could accept would be greatly limited, if not outright reduced to zero. And if she hadn't told Dealer yet, then there would still be a lot of jobs that specifically requested to be performed by Freesia. The moment those excessively high-paying jobs become free for everyone due to the girl's unavailability, anyone present at the Dealer's office would gain an advantage in claiming them.

Still, Papillion couldn't help but looking at the direction of the bathroom. Freesia, the best agent available to Dealer who remained mysterious enough that only a few had seen her real face. The contractor who boasted almost 100% success rate in all sorts of jobs ranging from espionage to assassination, to even chores that no one else does like babysitting or shopping. To think that such a hard working and amazing figure was actually a girl this young and short... Hmph, she better keep that to herself if she don't want to waste her money on a medical—

"By the way, a note should be on the table next to where you put my bag."

A sudden indifferent voice at the scariest timing sent chills down the black-haired woman's spine. She looked at the table and picked up the envelope that certainly wasn't there earlier. This should be Freesia's letter informing Dealer and verifying her sudden absence. Picking it up, Papillion left her own hideout without making any noise.

Leaving the cafe, Freesia now wore a pink hoodie and left it unzipped, revealing a light yellow shirt and culottes skirt of the same color. She also put on a white stocking with the same color as her trainers and fingerless gloves. Overall, not quite a formal attire fitting an entrance ceremony of a school, but it was her intended choice.

Light colors enhanced youthfulness, and people tended to act more casual and relaxed toward someone they think are younger, regardless of actual ages. Also culottes skirt is definitely one of her most favorite clothing. It is actually pants which don't restrict her movements as much as a skirt does. However, it appears a skirt and people would get a more girlish first impression of her than when she is wearing a pair of pants or jeans.

The moment she set foot out of the cafe, the ground began to glow and became a path toward a certain place. Oops, did she just reveal Papillion's hideout to the staffs of this school? Whatever, that woman would make a lot of money by being the first to choose and claim Freesia's abandoned jobs. So just moving out and finding a new place to live wouldn't hurt her much. The short girl picked up her phone and quickly typed a message before sending it to her colleague. Also, she didn't forget to turn off notifications.

After a few minutes of strolling, Freesia reached the building with the signs that read "Noroth's Academy of Sorcery". Seeing a student walked in that stone building before her, the short girl was about to do the same when she noticed 2 figures in the air slowly descended. The moment she got a clear view of one of those two faces, Freesia suddenly put up her hood and rushed toward the nearby tree to hide behind it.

Aurora Camille Leblanc. The white-haired woman in her twenties and one of the two young representatives of Leblanc family. The reason Freesia knew this was due to their direct confrontation months ago. On top of it being one of her very few failed missions, the girl's face was seen and she failed to beat that woman due to her powerful wind abilities. In her defense though, that task was basically sending her to fight someone soon to be a state leader, and even if it ended in a failure, she didn't lose much credits and reputation from it. Nevertheless, she now needed to hide or else it would be difficult talking her way out of this once that woman recognized her face.

But still, that young white-haired girl coming with Aurora... was that her younger sister? Freesia did a research on the Leblanc family before doing her work, and yet she only found news and records about the two children of the current head Camille Leblanc. She would never know about the third one if not for her employer who directly asked her to kidnap that girl. And even then, today was the first day she actually seen her in person.

Back then, Freesia couldn't even confirm an existence of her target, and yet now she was this defenseless? The green-haired girl thought wryly as she saw her nemesis rose in the air and flew back to where she came from at high speed, leaving her younger sister to walk into the stone building by herself. Welp, unlike when there was an ongoing task, even if she could manage to kidnap that Leblanc girl now, she wouldn't earn a single cent from it. Freesia removed her hood and scrolled through her phone for a while, ignoring more than a dozen of messages from Papillion that she had already muted, and eventually entered the building.

After coming in, Freesia briefly halted. Prior to coming here, she could have checked all information regarding the class, power and background of each and every student just to prevent the situation like with the Leblancs earlier. But that's her preparation before doing a job, not when going to school like this. In the end, she didn't do any research. Since she completed her jobs and received the payments without meeting most employers in person, there were a very limited number of people who had seen her face. Although, just to be safe, she screened the students who already occupied their seats with a short glance. Looked like none of them had seen her during her worktime. Very well, from this point onward she would be just Freesia Forger, an ordinary student of Noroth's Academy of Sorcery.

Eyeing a seat in the back, Freesia headed to that area where there was already another girl sitting. It would be a lie to say she picked that seat for no particular reason. After all, a seat in the back meant she can see anything happened in this place without turning to look. Before reaching her seat, the short girl looked at the white haired girl who seemed to be fiddling with her phone. Something bugged her... That's it, that girl's scrolling speed was way too slow. Was she pretending to be looking at the phone while actually monitoring her surroundings? No, Freesia had been secretly looking at that girl for a while and that's not how someone who wanted to look around acted. Was she reading something repeatedly? Possible, but there should be a more reasonable explanation...

Dyslexia, was an answer that came to her mind after carefully observing how that girl looked at her phone screen, and how her scrolling speed differ from time to time. Perhaps a different between a line of text and a picture. Freesia then told herself to relax. Seemed like she got too used to dealing with those who faked using a smartphone in an attempt to lower their opponent's guard. Besides, thoroughly observing and analyzing her schoolmate on a whim was definitely not something an ordinary school girl would do. She then dropped herself on an empty seat two spots next to where the white haired girl already sat. After making sure she made enough movement to have the other girl's attention and made an eye contact at least once.

"Um, Hello. My name is Freesia. Freesia Forger. I will be studying here as a member of the Earth class. It's nice to meet you!"

She then offered a handshake with a bright smile on her face.

Eleonore Floria had woken up quite early. Today was finally the day, her first day at Noroth's Academy of Sorcery. Throughout 16 years of her life, she never went to any boarding school, much less a magical one. Therefore, it wasn't exaggerating to say that she was filled with joy and excitement. She finished wearing her usual brown uniform-like attire and went downstairs to meet with her folks. Her father, a middle aged man with a long, polished black hair and well-groomed beard, looked up from his phone and welcomed her with a warm smile.

"Ah. Look who's here ready to go school. I'm glad our little Ellie has grown up this much"
"ELLIE!!!"

Her mother, a kind looking woman with a short blonde hair, screamed from the kitchen as soon as she heard her husband's voice. She then rushed toward her only daughter and gave her a big hug.

"Take care, dear. If you're not feeling well feel free to leave that school immediately and come back to—"
"Come on, honey. She'll be fine. Ellie, truancy is a big no."
"Haha. Of course."

Ellie may had answered that confidently, but a few years ago she had an unbelievable feat of skipping school to go on a week long intercontinental trip just because she felt like the school was boring. And who know what else this adventurous girl was capable of.

"Also I told you many times already but DO NOT use your cannon in a closed space. Damaging public properties will have serious consequences and your teachers are not as kind and forgiving as us. You won't get away with it. Is that clear?

In response to this, Ellie simply looked away and whistled suspiciously, not giving him a satisfying answer. The man clicked his tongue, but before he could say anything else, a doorbell rang.

"Good day sir. Is this the Floria residence?
"That's right. You must be the independent contractor."

The visitor who was a tall man in a neat black suit nodded. While he was wearing a strange looking domino mask, it was not an unusual sight for Mr. Floria who was rich enough to pay for their service multiple times. He knew too well that some of these people have a motif of keeping their identity secret to the point of using codenames and sometimes a fancy mask like this. In fact, they were always the one that demanded more money, but also offered higher quality in doing their jobs.

"Well then, please allow me to verify our contract. In 5 minutes I will take the young lady over there to this appointed location. The payment shall be made through Dealer via this number in no more than 24 hours from now. Is there anything you wish to change?"

Looking at the phone screen that displayed a certain location on the map and then payment channel, Ellie's dad simply shook his head. He then turned to his daughter who was about to leave for school.

"Be careful out there Ellie. Stay safe and... um... try not to hurt someone else."
"Understood"
"Ellie~~~~"

Mrs. Floria couldn't hold back any longer and squeezed her daughter in her arms with tears streaming her face. Good grief. Even though they weren't supposed to show any tear to their daughter. The man thought while looking at the two women hugging each other. After a lot of caring words, Ellie finally walked away from her parents. Stepping in front of the man in suit who was about a feet taller than her, she then asked without hiding any excitement in her voice.

"Hello Mister. I'm ready to go! What should I do next!?"
"Just relax, Miss Floria. You will feel uneasy for a short moment."

Issuing such warning in a calm and reassuring tone, the man then bowed to her parents before gently grabbing Ellie's shoulder. The next instant, everything around her went black and there was this intense feeling like she was free falling from a very high height. At the same time, she also felt like her body was pulled apart by some strong force in all directions. All of that ended in no more than 5 seconds after it started, and she soon found herself standing in front of the stone plaza with the word "Noroth's Academy of Sorcery" engraved on the entrance. She turned back to the man who was still grabbing her shoulder.

"Woohoo! That's amazing!"
"Very impressive, Miss. Usually girls your age vomit and fall on their knee even with prior experience. This is the first time I hear the word amazing from someone without experience."
"Hee hee! Can we do this again later!?"

Sure enough, for Ellie who loved traveling and exploring new places, having a teleportation power at her disposal was a godsend. Looking at the girl who was brimmed with energy, the man smiled.

"I don't mind giving you my contact, and two points you need to know before calling me. First, my service isn't cheap. Though I believe this shouldn't be a problem for you and your father. Second, and more importantly, please refrain from hiring me while you are here. I might be one of the alumni who have no problem getting in there. However..."

The man paused and looked at the stone building in front of him with a meaningful gaze.

"Everything about it is great. The school. Your teachers. Your friends. But because it is so great, someone as rotten as myself doesn't deserve to set foot in there anymore. I hope you understand that"
"Uh... okay?"

The fact that Ellie didn't understand it was crystal clear. The man sighed, but still took her phone and filled his contact info. At the end of the day, she was still his potential customer and he could just deny her if she called him from inside the school. He then let go of that girlish but athletically broad shoulder and took a few steps back.

"Well then, I'll take my leave. Have fun with your school life."

Bowed to her for one last time, his body then being engulfed in a shadowy aura before instantly disappeared from Ellie's sight. Because she was paying attention to something else, the blonde girl didn't notice an illuminating blue road beneath her foot until now. Looking at them with sparkled eyes, she walked along the path and soon entered the stone building.

Ellie soon found herself in a hall with some empty seats available. She looked around and saw a pair of white haired girl and brown haired boy, as well as another pair of the short girl who introduced herself as Freesia to another white haired girl. Looked like her schoolmates already talked to each other and started befriending. She then looked at the other two individuals who sat by themselves, a sandy brown haired girl and yet another white haired girl. After a brief moment of thinking, she headed to the middle rows where the girl with headphones was sitting.

"Hey there!"

Ellie dropped her bag on the empty seat next to the girl with ruby eyes. Strangely enough, that girl was not responding. She soon noticed a music audible from the headphones the white haired girl was wearing. Looked like that girl didn't even notice Ellie's words or actions thanks to that.

"Ahem." Ellie made that preparation sound before slowly inhaled...

"HELLO!!!"

And shouted to the white haired girl at the top of her lungs. It was loud enough to be heard by the entire hall, so no matter how loud that girl's music was she would definitely hear it. Regardless of how that girl would react, Ellie would start off with an apology. Yet there was always this cheerful smile on her face, totally not showing any remorse.

"Ahaha, sorry for that. You couldn't hear me so I had to be a bit loud. I'm Eleonore Floria. You can call me Ellie. What's your name? What do you want me to call you?"

Like a machine gun, lines after lines were quickly fired at the poor girl who had to listen to all that on top of the initial shout. It got to the point that Ellie herself started to feel like she was overdoing it thanks to her own excitement and had to stop herself before she threw any more question at that girl and appeared rude and overbearing.

"Umm... Let's be friend, okay?"

When in doubt, go with the warmest and brightest smile while asking for something outright unreasonable. It might works.

Amerie Haddon.
Trepidation felt like a wasted emotion, certainly so when she could map out the buildings, count the visual splendour underneath waning eyelashes. Eyelashes which stretched from exhaustion, staining her countenance with two plump pillows and protruding outwards from under her hues. Far more than the young student would have wanted, curling her fingers towards her shoulders and unease fluttering under footsteps.

Amerie was back to her educational home. A home which she spent many years prepping for. It was from scarce candlelight, its illumination was far too delicate against the impending darkness & aching wrists. She did her best, cramming every piece of knowledge she scoured from the endless libraries at her disposal and whatever lessons were granted to her. She had been impressive in her knowledge, so impressive her mark was going down in history — what she whispered each night. It consoled the notion of insanity from clinging to her mind, breezing over the wispy pearls of rebellion so maybe she could do something else. She couldn’t do so, as the thought sank to the forefront and afforded tangibility to balance. Recalibrate her position and take the first step, plunging against the path which lit up before her. It didn’t matter what people thought of her, if her shoulders were too high, so be it. If the tension in her eyes pooled into icy droplets of brown, so be it. It wasn’t her concern to be a picture of politeness. Her reputation proceeded, probably, or maybe the frown crowning her mien did, stabbing the onlookers with enough force to compel them to look elsewhere.

Still, she was one of many crusting the path, some more eager than her, and others more frantic, probably dreading the classes about to come to the head. She was excited about that portion, thumping her heart with a sort of dizzy want to be plummeted back into academia, threading her fingers around pursuing knowledge. The sounds of the idea dripped into the crinkles of her frown. It allowed some of her ice to thaw as she walked calmly & precisely. Never butting shoulders. Never getting too close to another student, keeping her pace crisp and legs bounded onto the trail. ‘Welcome’ boomed overhead, enticing the slower students to heed, and she could feel that respect resonating in the crowd. An authority which garnered even the cockiest to hurry. Amerie couldn’t deny the urge blossoming in the tendons of her ankles and arriving at the building. Another imposing structure, steeped in history & traditions, blares out against the horizon. Its structure seemed slightly haunting, or maybe her perceptions twisted the vision of it. Her nerves painted over, but she could spot the letters, showing the true nature of it.

Yet the grandness indeed loomed, something she thought time and time again, surfacing in memory. The surprise didn’t don her frame, but she could tell the same feelings echoed. It pressed along her lungs, releasing a strangled breath from her own wavering lips, and headed inside. She didn’t have a location in mind, Amerie never did, hoisting the bag over her shoulder — she forgot she was carrying her personal effects. The fire student couldn’t blame herself though, her focus had been pinched. Tumbling through the motions as her gait perfected the definition of it and finding a chair. A group was forming, she could deduce with a touch of disdain hiding behind her teeth. Noisy introductions. Discounting another throb to her head, webbing up from more loud noises and pervasive questions — not her business. That much she could agree to anyone else present. She took her spot a few chairs away, slanting her legs against the wooden support. Amerie sprawled tightly, confining her hands to her hips and bundled up in herself. It insetted away from the need to be within anyone’s personal boundary.

It should have been the course, but Amerie’s hand bubbled open. It slicked into existence, beading up into the crevices of her fingers and commanded away from the grooves. “There you are.” She stated out loud as the kindled flames took shape and eventually shrank back into a ball. A ball which bounced up, up and up, infused with so much energy. She didn’t remember adding that component. But the ball, which she might have affectionately dubbed Poppy, obeyed a different force. One outside of her control, well, what she told herself when the ball eventually grew two slitted eyes and an endless mouth, pitched in the deepest black as the passionate creature smiled. Its mannerisms were far better than its apparent master, already churning its head around and waving — did it grow an arm to wave? She shook her head. Amerie could list all day her differences, separating herself into the better category, but the absurdity of her own powers pegged her down. Humbled into the same bowels of strangeness, and rules dictating the school grounds. Intelligence didn’t rule the vivaciousness of her supposed spirit, and she didn’t know if that was natural. What was natural was the creature hanging from her palm, already wanting to leave. Trouble was stirring.

Abel Bernard
EARTH

The final phase of Abel's lifelong goal had finally arrived.

Abel sat down in a simple wooden chair in the foyer of the Bernard household. With his left leg crossed over his right and his interlocked hands resting on his knees, Abel closed his eyes to mentally prepare himself for his new life. By the stories he heard from his father during his young days at the academy, Abel expected a harsh and competitive environment where students from high-class families would compete to make themselves a central figure in the academy's student body. Everyone for themselves, fighting to be at the top of their class and leaving the weak to wither by themselves. Whatever awaited him, he was going to make sure he would be at the top . . . in other words, Abel was nervous. Though his prideful self would never admit it.

As the act of fortifying his mental state turned into a battle of convincing himself that he wasn't nervous, a bright blue light shone on the floor near his chair. Snapping back into reality, Abel slowly opened his eyes and stood up. This was it. Once he went through, there was no going back. With a long exhale, Abel stepped into the light.

"Wha-...What the hell is this...?"
Abel muttered to himself in shock and disbelief. The atmosphere around the academy wasn't tense nor was it filled with serious-faced students like himself. Instead, the air felt joyful and brimming with life which was likely due to the smiling and excited faces of the students around him. His shock slowly turned into curiosity and he pondered, "Is this...normal?", while recalling his past memories of being homeschooled under the guidance of private tutors. While the work he did was supposedly the same as any other school's curriculum, the atmosphere at home was always tense and dark. He remembered the stressful days of studying until his brain melted, causing him to misread simple questions in his textbook and redo them. Realizing that he had no time to waste, Abel glanced at his surroundings one last time and began walking until he reached his destination: the transportation building.

. . .

It was noisy. Abel's serious expression turned into frown. There were already groups forming with many students talking amongst another. Right from the get-go they were experiencing their rose-colored school life to the fullest while Abel . . . was struggling to find an empty seat. He didn't want to sit near one of those groups as he felt he would be roped into their loud conversations. "What a pain", he though to himself.
Looking around once more, Abel finally found an empty seat; however, just seconds after he started walking towards it, a female student with long black hair sat in it. Of course, the seat beside her was open but he wanted to be alone to think to himself. Weighing the effort of having to find another empty seat far from others or dealing with it and sit beside the black haired student, he chose the latter. Abel sighed and approached the empty seat beside her.

Looking at the female student now, Abel sensed that the two of them were somewhat similar. Was it her aura? He couldn't tell. Though whether his hunch was right or not didn't matter too much to him, he didn't approach her in hopes of making a friend, he simply wanted to sit . . . Nearing the student, Abel noticed a faint reddish light coming from her hands. "Fire? Was she using her powers?" Abel thought to himself. Finally, just inches away from her, his figure casted a faint shadow and Abel spoke in his usual serious tone:

"Is this seat taken?"

HELLO!!!
Whaaaa!?

That sudden, thunderous voice almost made Letty’s heart leap out of her chest. In fact, her precious smartphone that was in her hand seconds ago was already lying on the cold ground. After letting out a scared shriek, the girl raised her head to find an unfamiliar blonde-haired girl with an attractive but rather childish look. As soon as their eyes met, the white-haired girl felt herself trapped in that pretty blue eyes much like when she looked into those of her mother and her sister. However, unlike them these eyes weren’t exerting that similar allure born from absolute power and confidence. Instead, they seemed to be sparkling with an enticing energy that felt purer, yet wilder.

After a good while, Letty soon realized that her headphones were likely the main reason for the loud noise earlier. She swiftly put it down at the same time that the other party spoke up.

Ahaha, sorry for that. You couldn't hear me so I had to be a bit loud. I'm Eleonore Floria. You can call me Ellie. What's your name? What do you want me to call you?"
Uh…

That was Letty’s first time dealing with someone as energetic as Ellie. As she was showing a baffled expression while trying to ingest that barrage of words, the blonde girl continued with a smile on her face

Umm... Let's be friend, okay?

To any other ordinary people and perhaps to most students sitting here, Ellie’s actions up until that point could easily be viewed as rude and overbearing. However, Letty had had her fair share of what could be actually called rude, hostile treatments. And so she could overlook such presumption with ease. What mattered the most was the blonde’s last sentence.

Friend. Friend... Right, making friends was definitely what Letty always wanted to do after getting here. No, it’s not just that. Up until that moment, the girl named Auretta Leblanc had never made a single friend in her life. Reasonable enough, she was kept hidden from the public due to her incompetence. Yet even her secluded life didn't go well considering that her brother was the major persecutor who had a lot of influence over people around him. In the end, she further closed herself off. Even her sister's friend who specialized in mental trauma couldn't even get the bullied girl to open up.

Nevertheless, there was something in this girl named Ellie that made Letty feel at ease. Perhaps it was because that girl was truly innocent and air-headed, to the point that there was a complete lack of ill-wills and ulterior motives behind her seemingly silly actions. Something that the wind girl had a keen eye for. She took a deep breath before rising up from her seat and looking straight into that sparkling blue eyes. In her own ruby eyes had a hint of determination that was basically saying “I’ll definitely make it!”.

Nice to meet you. My name is Auretta Lebula— Ack! It’s Leblanc! Uh… you can call me L… L... Letty. That’s what my sister always called me...

She nailed it, despite being so nervous to the point of biting her tongue once. Because of her circumstances, Letty never got a chance at political meetings or even social gatherings like her older siblings did, on top of closing herself off to people around her. And so that was essentially the first introduction she ever made.

Also, about that friend request. She may lacked direct experience, but the girl also underwent Leblanc’s intensive homeschooling. Thus, she was taught a proper response for a situation like this.

I don’t know whether I can fulfill your expectations or not, but it’s also my pleasure to have you as a friend. I'm looking forward to working with you, Miss Eleono— Miss Ellie. Let's keep a good relationship from now on.

Yep, she lacked direct experience all right. After giving a speech straight out of a business manual, Letty then raised her hand to offer a handshake in an extremely stiff manner.

Location: Transportation Building
Interaction: Ellie Crimson Baron Crimson Baron

When Ellie first had a clear view of the white girl's face, she instantly felt an unexplained surge of emotions. That girl's exquisite facial features and unbelievably white skin made her look like a porcelain doll to Ellie. But more importantly, what she could see in that ruby eyes contrasting both the white hair and skin was a certain degree of loneliness and uncertainty. The white haired girl soon stood up from her seat. While their height didn't differ much, Ellie couldn't help but thought that the girl in front of her was kinda short. Their eyes met again, and Ellie took note of the strong determination not seen in that ruby eye earlier.

Nice to meet you. My name is Auretta Lebula— Ack! It’s Leblanc! Uh… you can call me L… L... Letty. That’s what my sister always called me... I don’t know whether I can fulfill your expectations or not, but it’s also my pleasure to have you as a friend. I'm looking forward to working with you, Miss Eleono— Miss Ellie. Let's keep a good relationship from now on.

Excluding how Letty bit her tongue and stuttered a bit, she sounded just like those people that came to her house to meet dad for the first time. Ellie looked at the girl who was still waiting for the handshake. With all the qualities mentioned above and now topped with that speech and how meek she seemed, Ellie discovered something inside herself that she never knew existed before. Using her athletic speed, she picked up Letty's phone from the ground before thrusting it into that offered hand.

"That. Won't. Do!"

Ignoring reactions from Letty, Ellie draped her arm over those stiffened shoulders. With a bit of strength, she pulled herself and the white haired girl down onto their respective seats next to each other.

"We are becoming friends, Letty, not business partners! Using honorific language is forbidden!! Also why continued speaking after biting your tongue like that! It hurts right!?"

What awakened inside Ellie thanks to Letty's unique characteristics seemed to be an older sister instinct. Even though she never had any siblings, she felt a strong desire to protect the white haired girl and to correct whatever mistake she did. While Ellie was basically scolding Letty, there wasn't a moment where the enthusiastic vibe was gone from her face and her voice sounded playful rather than serious. If anything, she wasn't cut out to be an older sister.

"Whatever, let's have a lot of fun together! You're my first friend here!!"

She soon showed her peak airheadedness by saying that and completely ignoring any possible results of what she had said earlier. After realizing that their faces were next to each other and possibly too close for comfort the entire time, Ellie eventually let go of Letty's shoulders and sat comfortably in her own seat. She then looked at the white haired girl with an eye that was more sparkling than usual.

"Alright, Letty. Tell me more about yourself! Where do you come from!? What school did you graduate from before coming here!? What's your favorite food!? Mine is chocolate by the way. Do you have any favorite sport!? Anything else you like to do? What's your class and powers!? Also how can you be this unfairly cute!? Is there any secret tip I don't know about?"

Now that they were officially friends, the machine gun of questions immediately resumed firing. Also, Letty was lucky to have cuteness as an outstanding quality that could attract Ellie’s attention. Otherwise, right after she asked someone about their powers Ellie would normally continue on about her own and then show off her cannon and bomb, which often led to her firing it without any regard to time and place.

WIND
HIRAYA
❝ M'UP! ❞ Hiraya yelled, jumping out of her bed already dressed in full regalia, like she was prepared to go to a cosplay convention. She wore an outfit almost fit for a desert warrior, with touches of the fantastical—a golden gauntlet that looked like it could pierce through flesh if she tried—to really sell the image. You might find yourself asking: did she wear that all night? How did she manage to get any sleep?

Answer: she didn't.

The shadows that lined her eyes, the all-too-static-and-fixed style of her hair; Hiraya's mother, who barged in to see what the sudden commotion was, knew enough. Enough to know that Hiraya needed a good thwack on the head, and thwack she did (with a very soft pillow she had stolen off from Hiraya's bed.)

"Ma—!"

"Don't Ma me. You better sleep early when you get to your school, ha?" her mother said, wringing the pillow in her hands. "Or else I'll cancel your admission! If I find out..."

"I know, I know, m'gotta go back to normal school. Yeah, yeah." Hiraya nodded. She'd heard it all so many times before. It was almost like her mother was trying to find an excuse to keep her here!

"Gon' be on my best. Doncha worry 'bout it! Doncha worry! Don'worry!" Her mother's expression seemed to intensify with every repetition.

"Keep saying that, sure. Just... Please, Raya, keep it in mind, okay? Follow your teachers, study well, stay safe." Before Hiraya could get in a word edgewise, her mother continued, taking Hiraya in her arms, locking her in place. "And don't say I worry too much. I worry just enough..."

Hiraya melted into the embrace. For all her bravado, there'll always be parts of her that'll be homesick. That'll miss this. Having her mother there to help her, support her.

Still, all birds must fly the nest eventually.

Her mother took one last hug, one last look at Hiraya before letting her go to follow a path only she could see.

■ ■ ■ ■ ■

Hiraya had expected a little more from her fellow classmates.

After taking her seat at the ceremony, she found that most of them looked so... normal. If she didn't know any better, if she hadn't witnessed those very same people performing instances of magic—someone bouncing a ball of flame till it gained sentience within their hands, another casually swirling a stream of water between their fingertips as if it were their own personal fidget toy—she might have thought things to be business as usual and that this was just another day in her boring and unremarkable past.

A part of her almost wanted to just stand up and scream. Why are you all so boring? Where's the spice? The flavor?!

Almost were it not for the fear that her mother might hear of it. And who knows what she'll say when she finds out? What she'll do.

Maybe things will be different once the ceremony actually starts up?

ooc: apologies again for the massive delay in the post ^-^ i don't mind hiraya not interacting with anyone at the moment (mostly because i couldn't think of a segue way that wouldn't feel forced or unnatural and wouldn't disrupt someone's ongoing scenes ;w; ) feel free to proceed on !!
