I'm going to make this simple and short.
~~You are either a human buyer, or an experiment for sale.
The lab is selling some humanoid experiments for more room in the lab. These tests were humans, but animal DNA was put into their body. The teens soon had the ears, tails, claws, and skills/abilities of the animal.
