It's an Easter Prickly Pear Cactus- an interesting question!

Well, from what I can tell, certain cacti can be eaten. I just want to be careful, perhaps certain cacti aren't meant to be eaten so I don't want to be a cause of someone's death, or at least discomfort. Perhaps looking into some recipes will help. If they can be eaten, I'd like to see how fast they grow so I can add them to my diet. Perhaps if I end up in the desert I'll bring some cactus seeds with me.

This exact type of cacti goes wild where I live. I've heard it called 'prickly pear' and 'devil's tongue', which I think is the cooler name.
