Advice/Help Multiple possible areas for group interest check

Just like it sounds, I have an idea for an RP that could go under Fantasy, Modern, or Fandom. Would it be considered spamming if I put it in all three to reach the largest number of players?

Yes multiple interest checks would be considered spamming.

I would look at the setting.

Is it set in a version of the real world ? Than it’s modern.

If it’s set in a world you make up yourself than it’s fantasy.

fandom either uses a published world OR characters created by someone else.

So whichever one is closest that is where it goes.

What if it's an Modern Urban Fantasy that is inspired by someone else's work? (This is actually a problem I have for RP Nation but that's besides the point)

Anyway, if it's undoubtedly a Fandom - like, you changed very little of the original setting - you put it in Fandom. Otherwise, put it in Fantasy as that covers both Medieval and Modern Fantasies (make sure you indicate that the RP is set in modern times and it's inspired from an original setting).

Nope. If your fantasy takes place in our world than it's in realistic. If it takes place in a made up world than it's fantasy. Modern/Medieval have nothing to do with it.

If it is inspired by someone else's work but does not use any recognizable elements. (ex. If I made a roleplay set in an alternate version of America that was called Wartshog and it was all about a special boy wizard defeating a evil neo-nazi wizard than yeah I'm obviously borrowing form Harry Potter. But if I don't actually mention Hogwarts, Voldemort, etc. than it would be in Realistic setting not Fandom.)

RP Nation is so confusing.

But okay, you're the veteran.

It's based on setting. So you have to think of where your roleplay is actual set not what elements it has.

So realistic just means the setting is the real world
Fantasy means the setting is a made up fantasy world
Fandom means the setting/characters used from a published work
Futuristic means the setting is in the far future or space.

It's pretty easy once you get the setting part down.

So an expy of Strike Witches would be realistic while an expy of Papers Please would be Fantasy?

...You know what? I think I like RP Nation classification after all!

Where does my roleplay go?
The Roleplay forum is separated into two categories; One on One (1x1) and Group (roleplays with three or more players). These categories are then broken down by roleplay settings and types.

One on One (1x1) host roleplays that consist of two or three roleplay partners and permits various setting prefixes.

Fandom contains characters or story from an existing universe; such as a book, movie, anime, etc.

Fantasy is a reality that is more fantastic, more whimsical and has the more traditional elements within it that you know you are not grounded in anything that is like our reality and world at its core.

Realistic or Modern is a reality that is similar to our own. It might have some minor magic or creatures in it or even zombies trying to eat us, but the technology and the way of life we experience in this game is similar to the reality we all face in our real lives.

Futuristic is a reality that is far more advanced technologically (typically) and possesses characteristics that we would associate with the future of our reality.

Dice hosts roleplays are based on a dice system for the game to run. Dungeons & Dragons and Pathfinder are a couple of examples for dice formats.

Nation Building hosts roleplays focus on world building across two or more nations. Common themes in these roleplays are military strategy and politics.

The Colosseum is for roleplays that are exclusively combat-focused. These roleplays are generally not plot-intensive.

The Quest Log is for roleplays where a single person writes a story and other people post votes to influence the events of the roleplay.
