heh, we diverged from monster hunter canon a little with their designs and lore. but this is our story and we do what we want, damn it akjshkfj
basically dai and doe got their tails during the sunbreak DLC, after meeting a Lunagaron and Malzeno respectively, getting infected with the parasite/disease they had, and resonating with them. It wasn't a very fun process but they have tails now and I love it akdjfgl

and tbh it'd be more of a pain to cut off their tails to be "normal" again, so they just live with them.

Oh, and resonating between a person and a monster is INCREDIBLY rare, even more rare than normal resonance. its only happened 2x in canon mh, and that was between two wyverian twins, and between them and narwa/ibushi, which cause the Rampages. its some scary and traumatic stuff.
