In Search of a Wonderful Life
Hakurei Mishima
博麗 • 三島
Male
21
January 16th, 1599
5'09" (175 cm) / 122 lbs (55 kg)
Farmer
No Affiliations
Profile
The first impression of a gentle face hides a starkly different kind of person underneath it all. In truth, Hakurei is a mostly self-interested opportunist. While not exactly hedonistic, the majority of his choices and actions are informed by his desire to fulfill certain selfish conditions. Although one could argue his behavior is not entirely of his own fault.

An abandoned infant left on the doorsteps of some arbitrarily chosen home, he was swiftly passed around from neighbor to neighbor until finally some disgraced, aging former samurai named Danzō Mishima decided it might be prudent to keep the boy for his own selfish gains. For the first five years of his life, the boy went without a name; simply referred to as 'boy' at the whims of the old curmudgeon.

The boundaries of their relationship were quickly drawn: Danzō was no father to him, and the boy was not his son. That point was established and made to be understood especially early on. What they had was more akin to a master-servant type of deal. The boy would tend to every chore that was required of him and, in return, would be given food and shelter. His primary job was to tend to Danzō's turnip patch just outside of their humble shack. Here was when the boy was given his first 'gift'.

Hakurei-Mishima2.jpg
He was given the name 'Hakurei' after the very turnips that he was tasked with growing. So it was that Hakurei set to task, bitterly but diligently. For the longest time—not until Hakurei effectively became an adult—was he forbade to ever enter the nearby town; so his social development was quite stunted. His first trip into town was only after he'd turned sixteen, where he was now tasked with selling his crops as well as cultivating them.

He was enamored with what he saw there—how life felt so free. He began to keep a small book with him at all times. In it, he would write these 'tasks' that he believes contributed to a 'wonderful life'. And to this day, that book continues to be his guiding principle by which he lives his life by.

In the months leading up to the current date, Danzō Mishima passed away. The shack and field were Hakurei's to keep but his old master also left him with a couple of more surprising 'gifts'. The first of which is his old samurai haori that hung in that shack like a painting for as long as Hakurei could remember; never once being worn. The second was Danzō's family name: Mishima. Hakurei had no idea what to make of such a gesture but figures that it was one final cruel joke by the old man, and forces himself to forget any fond memories they'd ever shared—how ever few those may be.
Skillset
EQUIPMENT
Book of Tasks: Not necessarily useful for anything other than to write and read from, it is nevertheless Hakurei's most treasured possession which he always keeps on his person. In it are things he wishes to accomplish that he believes is part of living a 'wonderful life'.

Woodcutter Axe: A small hatchet used to chop wood but Hakurei can wield it as a makeshift weapon of sorts and as a general cutting tool.

Gourd Flask: A simple gourd for carrying water fastened to Hakurei's waist with a string. Used for drinking and also as an easy source of water to manipulate with his partner Makina's latent ability.

SKILLS
Agriculturist: Having worked the fields since he was a small child, Hakurei naturally developed an incredible talent for raising crops, especially the white turnips for which is his namesake. He's so skilled in fact that his turnips are well-renown in his local town as well as a few neighboring ones. They are recognized as being some of the plumpest and juiciest around.

Keen Wit: Despite his forcibly sheltered upbringing, Hakurei is no fool to the ways of the world. He's a fast learner and is remarkably observant to boot. Combined with a flexible moral compass, Hakurei can prove himself to be quite the tricky foe to deal with.

High Endurance: The benefit to plowing a field all day in the blistering sun is that Hakurei has inadvertently trained his body to endure much hardship. This enhanced layer of physicality is of course useful in a variety of situations.

MAKINA
A Girl Held Up By Strings
Shirayuki
白雪
Female
19
Unknown Date
5'02" (157 cm) / 98 lbs (44 kg)
AI Profile
Shirayuki is best defined by her bright and cheery disposition, and her overall love of life. She seeks to learn and experience all she can about the world she inhabits, and hardly says no to most new things. So, by extension, she is wildly curious as well—which can unfortunately hinder as much as it helps. Underlying all of this is a painfully obvious sense of naivety and child-like wonderment.

She is very easily tricked and that often lands her in hot water, but through a combination of some incredible luck and her latent talents, she manages to scrape by many difficult predicaments. Her pain comes from the fact that, as a Makina, she is considered by the vast majority to not be a real 'person'. She desperately craves to prove that idea wrong; not only to others but to herself most of all. She frequently refers to herself as being propped up by 'strings'—a reference to a fairy tale within her memory banks.

It deeply saddens Shirayuki to know that all of her feelings, dreams, and desires may be nothing more but the clever fabrications of written code within her programming—that it could all be fake. Unlike most Makina, she possesses a very defined personality and it hurts her every time she has to witness another of her kind act so coldly. Using her power to 'free' her fellow Makina of their limits, Shirayuki holds out hope that one day she'll finally understand what it means to be alive.
Combat
EQUIPMENT
Kasunde-Haru: Meaning 'Hazy Spring', it is Shirayuki's katana. In its current state, it is constantly dripping with water when unsheathed—a malfunction according to her own admittance. The blade presents with an unusual waveform pattern and there's a slight blue tinge to it. There are two tiny metal tubes on opposing sides of the sword's hilt that can release a steady stream of mist—useful for providing cover or as a quick getaway method. The mist itself is incredibly dense and very difficult to disperse even by strong gusts of wind.

Usu Sode-no-Yuki: Shirayuki can detach either or both of her hands and transform them into a pair of white scaled gloves; their name translates to 'Thinly Sleeved Snow'. When wielded by her partner samurai, a single glove will act like a wrist bow, shooting arrows materialized from water. If both gloves are used, the wielder can instead create a much larger water bow and arrows to fight with.

Haze Propulsion: This equipment cannot be used by her partner samurai. Hidden grooves around her Achilles's tendons can expel mist with incredible force, allowing Shirayuki to propel herself through the air with limited bursts.

ABILITIES
Liquid Manipulation: Used in tandem with her katana as a medium or even with her own body parts in various ways, Shirayuki and her partner samurai can manipulate most types of matter as long as it's in a liquid state. This power can even pull water from the air for utilization. The more impurities that exist in the matter however—anything but hydrogen or oxygen molecules—the more difficult it will be to shape and control. Because of this, pure water is the best material to use so having a steady supply of it is tantamount to using this ability to its fullest potential.

AI Limiter Removal: An ability seemingly exclusive to Shirayuki, it allows her to remove the programming locks within a Makina's AI. As a result, the Makina will be able to behave more human, even developing a personality based on its compiled data so far. Furthermore, their ability to process data becomes more refined, allowing them to make decisions based on human emotions and values instead of solely on hard facts.

Spectral Speed and Movement: Touted by urban legend as the 'fastest Makina in existence', it is a bold claim that warrants some recognition. Shirayuki is, for all intents and purposes, extremely fast. She moves quicker than the human eye can discern and even many Makina have trouble keeping up with her. It appears as if she's teleporting when she moves at her highest speed. Combined with her phantom-like maneuvers, the tale of a ghostly rogue Makina doesn't sound too farfetched. It's notable to point out that her individual fighting style resembles that of a ninja.

[ DUE TO DAMAGED CORE, CERTAIN ABILITIES ARE NONFUCNTIONAL ]

TECHNIQUES
Tidal Slash: A horizontal strike creates a wave of liquid of the same length. It cuts down whatever is in its path before smashing into the ground.

Vortex Spear: A spiraling pillar of liquid is created around Shirayuki's katana. Once the sword is thrust forward: the swirling liquid shoots toward the target, slamming hard upon impact and sending the foe spinning backwards.

Kōdzuki: Translates to 'Upper Moon', it is a simple upward slash paired with a powerful torrent of liquid in the same direction.

Gegen'notsuki: It means 'Waning Moon'. A massive hammer of liquid is brought down upon an enemy in step with the downward swing of a sword.

Water Spikes: As the name suggests, it creates three to four liquid spikes that can be thrown independently by swinging the katana in a specific direction.

WEAKNESSES
Currently, the most critical weakness of Shirayuki is her damaged Ghost, crippling many of her abilities to the point that they can't function. Even her infamous speed suffers as a result of this injury. Unfortunately, without finding the right materials, her core cannot be self-repaired. She is also extremely susceptible to high temperatures—fire-based abilities being a notable countermeasure against her. Due to her partner's inexperience in combat, his effectiveness in using her powers and techniques are nearly halved.

Profile
Nozomi waited while the guard read the papers she had handed him.

"I've never heard of this..."

"Kan Ohta." She crossed her arms. The guard peered over the papers. His suspicion reeked of indifference.

"Kan Ohta," he repeated the samurai's name, as if each syllable might be obscuring a rat. He narrowed his gaze, and shifted the weight of his armor so he could take her in from another angle. "Why'd he send you?"

Nozomi frowned. "It's all on the paper. There's word of a Makina in this area. He must know if this is the truth, and if it is, he must deal with it."

"No, girl. Why you?"

She wiped his spittle off her cheek with the wrap around her forearm, but when his gaze lingered on that wrap for a moment too long she quickly tucked it back beneath her robes.

I must look like a beggar, she thought. Dirtied cloths, rain-streaked hair, and skin that hadn't known soap in weeks.

It would have been easier to get through if she had just told him that. But it was too late now.

"I proved myself." She stood her ground. There was something feebly reassuring in planting her feet on the road, even as she was towered over by this man. "He trusts me."

The guard was unmoved.

"It's only a rumour, any way. We... he has other duties, he can't go chasing rumours. So he sends me. Sent me." She smiled, small and brief. "He trusts me."

The guard shook his head. He folded up the papers. "There's one Makina in these parts. I think I know the one you're talking of." He held out the papers, and she snatched them up to shove back in her bag. "May be a rumour, girl, but you'd be better off careful all the same."

She didn't need the warning.

"Oh, I know."

Skillset
EQUIPMENT
Kodachi. A small blade she wears at the hip. Better suited for her stature than a larger blade like a katana or a naginata. She wields it adeptly and fights fiercely.
Provisional Bag. Worn at the hip with a strap over the opposite shoulder, and kept out of the elements by concealment under her outer cloak, Nozomi's bag is disorganized but full of all her possessions (which is to say, very few).

SKILLS
Fast & Sharp. Nozomi moves with an agility befitting her stature. Her eyes scan the world and pick out threats and exits with ease. There is no shadow too trusted, no blade left unpolished. She sees, she assesses, and she moves.
Reserved. Nozomi is a stranger in every world, and well-practiced at keeping her cards close to her chest to bide her time. Strike - when the iron is cold.

Warrior of the Hearth
Yasumasa-no-Kōsochi
匡仁鋼祖刀
Female
25
29th of April, 1595
5'2 (158cm) / 108lbs (49kg)
Travelling Blacksmith-Rōnin
Kin-Iro no Kopai
Profile
A proud and good-hearted youth originally hailing from the former Dewa province, Kōsochi became the sole apprentice of a renowned blacksmith after a river-related accident early on in her life. Studying laboriously under his wing, she not only had to become stubborn and able enough to personally extract the ores from caves and the sides of mountains, but also fierce and strong in order to survive each passing trip. Thanks to the intensity of her apprenticeship and latently inherited talents, her craft grew refined at an almost unprecented rate, impressing both her teacher and the occasional merchant passing by. Soon enough, her proficiency had bloomed so remarkable, that she was granted the honour of bearing the Yasumasa legacy upon her shoulders, though things obviously wouldn't be so easy.

Instructed to forge a weapon of such brilliant craftsmanship it would warrant a decoration so pristine, the young girl set out on an year-long journey filled with pitfalls and unexpected turns. Building her own forge deep in the mountains, excavating suitable ore, fending off the ever-present threat of hungering demons and finally settling on a design, she made the unconventional decision of creating a foreigner-introduced weapon. Carving its stock from cedar wood, taking her time to perfect a technique of bending the thinnest of metals, she slowly forged and re-forged parts in a cycle of replacement, until at last her magnum opus was complete. Taking it for a thorough trial, she knew immediately that her master would be impressed, and began her long trek home.

It was on this return-path south that she stumbled across a bizarre pod resting by the side of an algae-infested pond, its shores littered with withered lotus flowers. Unable to contain her curiosity of the strange, she approached it in an attempt to study it, only to be greeted by the sight of a naked man erupting from within it, as if she were witness to the second birth of Momotarō. Surprised, she accepted as the Makina shyly swore fealty to her, promising back that she would take care of the stranger as best she could in kind. Thus, the duo returned to the abode of the old Yasumasa master.

Unfortunately, by the time they had arrived, the Gion Shōja bells had already tolled for the old man. Finding him—motionless under the warm blankets he had always adored—on his chest laid a note which struck a weak smile over the apprentice's somber face. A pupil no longer, she offered her teacher his last goodbyes and left her adoptive home for good, in search of new adventures and with the intent of spreading the Yasumasa name far and wide. Determined to follow this simple and virtuous fate, she spends her time vendoring her craft and taking on odd-jobs for Kin-Iro no Kopai together with her enigmatic companion.

Skillset
EQUIPMENT
Tools of the Trade: Kōsochi always carries with her the fundamental tools for her job; a hammer, tongs, chisels and so on. All wrapped in a handy apron, they are what she needs in order to set up shop almost anywhere. In short, they are the tools needed to craft all the others.

Tatsusha: "Dragonshooter," the name of this weapon can either refer to its ability to spew fire like a Heavenly Dragon, or the claim it could shoot down any such beast. In reality, it is a thin arquebus of top-grade craftsmanship, a passion project that took months of trial and error to create. In comparison to most imported firearms, it is far lighter and seemingly more accurate in its 100-meter range. It is fitted with a custom caliber of ammunition and thus incompatible with standard-issue ammo.

Brass Bells: The first half of a set of bells used by Kōsochi and her partner as a means of communication during battle. They allow for the back-and-forth sending of simple signals, such as "retreat," "switch positions," or "pressure the enemy." They also serve as great stress relief in burdensome situations.

SKILLS
Blacksmith: Being the sole heir of the Yasumasa tradition of smithing, Kōsochi is a skilled and inventive blacksmith. She loves experimenting and perfecting the process of crafting unusual weapons, as well as having the ability to pretty much set up forge anywhere.

Sharpshooter: Though she can handle most weapons just fine, her biggest advantage on the battlefield lies in her above-average shot. While not eagle-eyed by any means, her profession-acquired steady hand and control over breathing aid her tremendously in rising above the average rifleman.

Survivalist: Spending her childhood amid the cruel wilderness of terraformed Japan, she has traded street-smarts in exchange for a strong sense of survivalism. Scavenging for food, gathering resources and making it through the night are all pieces of cake by now. Were it not for the chance encounter with her late master, she would surely be considered a wolf-child.

Giants Who Travail the Land
Jii-san
爺さん
Male
Late-ish Sixties
???, 1617
6'7 (203cm) / 250lbs (113kg)
AI Profile
Even with programming locks removed, there is not much to the noble soul of this old man. Steadfast, loyal and unwavering, he is the epitome of a dedicated guardian who will protect any bridge to the bitter end. He faithfully follows his companion into battle—acting as her shield and sword as needed—all the while being a shy and modest 'man.' Outside of the battlefield, he enjoys experiencing the art of poetry and performing tea ceremonies, whether he can actually ingest the pleasant-odoured mixtures or not.

Longing after the impossible dream of having a family of his own one day, he cherishes Kōsochi as a chance of fulfilling this unfated ambition. Though he is the type to be too embarrassed to admit it, he makes sure to properly tuck her in each night, adores the charms she makes for him, and secretly buys her things like clothes when he has the chance. Though the reality of his nature saddens him, this is how he finds his peace.

Ever since first visiting a fish market, he wishes to take Kōsochi for a relaxing fishing trip.
Combat
EQUIPMENT
A Giant's Armour: Crafted to be a perfect fit, Jii-san proudly dons the armour put together by his companion. Even if it is a bit rough around the edges, that is what lends it a unique charm unlike any other; such is the old man's thought process. It was made specifically with his magnetic abilities in mind.

Very Amazing Red Parasol: A device which mimics the appearance of a parasol, it is a deployable anti-projectile shield, as well as having an openable 'window' which can be used as a firearm rest. Being made from easily heatable iron, it is perhaps not the best means of providing shade from the Sun.

Yōkashō: The Makina's broad and heavy naginata, a fear-inspiring weapon which could cut horses in half. At a time when he was still rather unacquainted with the intricacies of naming, he baptised it himself after receiving it from Kōsochi.

Brass Bells and Hare Charm: The second half of a set of bells used by Jii-san and his partner as a means of communication during battle. They allow for the back-and-forth sending of simple signals in the same vein as their other half. To accomodate the giant's less careful hands, they are tied together using a red string. A cutesy charm is attached to the string, depicting the face of a white-brown hare.

ABILITIES
Electromagnetism: Other than his large size, the only ability naturally at Jii-san's disposal is control over a few select properties of electromagnetism. Controlling these processes through either direct touch or by letting them emanate from his body at large, he can pull off a variety of tricks during battle as well as outside of it. Each technique relies on a different property of electromagnetism, and thus is better explained individually rather than in bulk.

TECHNIQUES
Metal Telekinesis: The power most easily lent to his companion due to its stability, it invokes simple magnetic fields to levitate and move metals without the need for physical contact. Useful to smith and warrior alike, Jii-san's armour is permanently magnetised in order to neutralize bladed strikes by snapping the attacker's weapon bluntly against it.

Railgun: Using magnetic fields along the user's limbs to propel small projectiles at great speeds. Unfortunately, this ability is rather hazardous to soft human tissue.

Induction Heating: Through accelerating electromagnetic induction around a levitated object, Jii-san is able to effortlessly melt conductive materials given enough time. Though this ability is a blacksmith's dream, it once again cannot be easily lent to humans as a consequence of the temperatures it generates.

WEAKNESSES
Magnetised Armour: Boon at times and curse at others. Though this ability serves as a great line of defence against weapons with thin, long blades, projectiles and pointed piercing weapons penetrate it with unnerving ease. Should the wearer ever be caught in a volley of arrows, the ability's continued use would surely spell death for them.

Limited Presence: Due to his inability to lend a good number of his powers, combined with his reluctance to ever leave the side of his 'ward,' the battlefield presence of this Makina is severely crippled at all times.

Speed: An obvious drawback to his large size, Jii-san is forced to rely on wide and heavy strikes which are quite easy to read. This weakness puts him at a notable disadvantage against speedier opponents, as well as lowering his presence on the battlefield even further.

Profile:
First impressions would reveal a fairly amicable young man with good looks and a love of haiku. He is sometimes known for marching to the beat of his own Taiko-Drum. Hide isn't one to ignore those truly in need. Though he refuses to help people he feels perfectly capable of helping themselves if he feels like it. He also prefers to solve things by non-violent means if able. Though this is in no way cowardice or a fear of conflict. This is an attempt to avoid bloodshed. When violence becomes the only option. Hide wastes no time in dispensing it so as not to cause any unnecessary pain. He never hesitates to kill if needed. Hide is also pretty stingy with money. Which is due to his lack of gainful employment for so long making his spending habits set in place.

Hide was born into a nomadic tribe of former shinobi and ronin. Despite being heralded for their service during the Sengoku Era. Their way of life was stamped out when the country no longer needed their skills due to the emergence of Yomi and Makina. Hide was raised with other children learning how to survive in the nightmarish Japan he was born into. He killed his first man when he was ten after a fellow tribesman attempted to assault his mother. The feeling of bloodied steel in his hands became common as his talents were nurtured in hopes of presenting him to the Shogunate as an enforcer. Having to deal with more death than any other child his age. There were rumors that he was actually the child of an Oni due to his familiarity with bloodshed. When he was eighteen years old and somewhat known in some circles. Hide found a pod in the den of Reiten Cultists. Inside was a Makina they had been hoping to bond with a warrior of their choosing. Unfortunately she came into this world for Hide. Giving her the name Towa. Hide somehow managed to defeat their greatest fighter in single combat, despite the latters supposed demonic empowerment. This got his skills noticed by the Shogunate. Opting to roll with the Yatagarasu to train himself against the overgrowth and Yomi. Though he is occasionally called on to investigate Reiten activity. At age 23, he is continuing to improve himself each day with his partner beside him.

Skillset
Swordsmanship: Having trained with masters from a young age. Hide is a naturally talented swordsman. Each of his moves has is a well refined mixture of technique and personal experience. Having battled both human and Daemon opponents. He has developed multiple techiniques suitable for many of the kinds of foe he finds himself facing regularly.

Espionage: Despite the way of Shinobi dying in the face of the Yomi threat. Hide still continues to utilize said skills. He is knowledgeable on matters of infiltration, eavesdropping, sabotage, poisoning, information gathering, interrogation and especially assassination. Even many former Shinobi have found themselves outclassed by Hide's abilities. While not very useful against Daemons with their greater sensory aptitude. These skills have helped him quite nicely when investigating and covertly dealing with cultists or bandits.

Equipment:
Katana: The personal tool of a swordsman. This blade was made using metal gathered from a mountaintop that has near constant sunshine. It is Hide's most trusted partner next to Towa. Its scabbard is made from wood gathered from the same mountaintop.

Tanto: A gift from Towa after his twenty third birthday. Regularly used to cut throats and pierce spinal columns.

Calligraphy Tools: Needed in case inspiration strikes

Light ties with the Kurakawa Shogunate
Profile
Appearance: Haru trains his body for speed and agility, resulting in a more lithe figure than some of his other counterparts. He has a shock of white blonde hair and hazel eyes that appear yellow in most lighting. He has very expressive emotions, displaying almost every thought that crosses his mind very clearly across his features. He has features that lean more into the feminine side and has often been described as pretty, but he tends to make very ugly expressions that spoil the original illusion. His mannerisms are chaotic but controlled. Haru distresses others with how he handles weapons and fragile items with little to no care of caution or safety. Despite his outward lack of care, his years of training have given his movements a calculated precision.

Haru is a whirlwind of a person to be around. He is extroverted and energetic, his attention and excitement able to flare up at something he finds interesting only to burn out seconds later and shift into apathy. It’s very easy to catch his interest, almost to the point of naivete, but he is not as gullible or vapid as he initially comes across. Haru is quite intuitive to the behaviors of others and is distrusting of hidden intentions until proven otherwise.

As a child, Haru lived a very average life. He was born into a small family in an even smaller village, his parents working as artisans to provide the villagers with whatever ceramic ware was needed. It was a stable living but certainly not extravagant. He was an energetic child, always bothering to be allowed to roam the village with the other kids and get into any sort of trouble he could get his hands on. Haru wasn’t the type to listen to his parents’ wishes in staying close to the village, instead wandering out far into the surrounding woods and exploring for hours. There was a piece of him that always longed for something new, a hungry sense of curiosity that demanded to be fed.

It was during one of these lengthy excursions that misfortune struck the village that Haru called home. He was dawdling out around the river until far later than his parents would ever allow. During the time he spent away, a group of bandits had descended on the village to loot for money and goods to sell. They took the village hostage, pillaging the houses and terrorizing its residents. Fortunately, the Shogunate had heard of these terrors occurring in the small villages throughout Japan and had ordered a bounty on the heads of those involved. A bounty hunter had been trailing after the destruction caused by the small bandit group, and had circled in on their location the day they chose Haru’s village to terrorize.

Haru arrived to a horrific scene. Items were strewn across the street and houses were damaged. Those who had chosen not to cooperate were slain in the street while those who survived cowered behind whatever would grant them coverage. Haru’s house was no different from the others. The place had been ransacked. His father was a proud man intent on protecting his family, and due to it had been cut down without hesitation. His mother had been fatally injured in the crossfire of the battle between the bandits and the bounty hunter, a fact that the bounty hunter struggled to take without guilt. He was still standing over her body when Haru arrived. Hoping to ease some of his overwhelming guilt at his failure to protect the villagers, the bounty hunter took the newly orphaned Haru under his wing.

Haru traveled with this man, Matsuda Asahi, for the rest of his remaining childhood. He trained and grew strong under the bounty hunter’s guidance, learning the necessary mindset and skills needed to make a successful living in the field. Asahi was surprised at how quickly Haru adapted to this new life. The endless travel and new adventures were welcomed with more than open arms, but a concerning side of Haru arose during this period as well. Asahi quickly noticed not only Haru’s lack of sympathy for those who were slain for bounties, but his enthusiasm for it. There was always a disturbing look of amusement in Haru’s eyes whenever Asahi had completed a bounty. The man pushed it off as irrelevant, hoping the reason had some tie to Haru’s imagined revenge on those who tore apart his family.

Haru began his apprenticeship as a bounty hunter at 14. He was given easy jobs and sent off on his own for many months at a time. On one of these apprenticeship jobs, Haru stumbled across a Makina that once awakened, introduced himself as Inei. The two bonded quickly and have been traveling as a deadly bounty hunter pair since. With Inei’s added skill, Haru’s reputation skyrocketed and he was chosen for more and more dangerous jobs. At the current day, Haru and Inei’s reputation typically precede them. His most recent bounty was not given by the shogunate but by Inei himself. The pair have been focused on finding what Inei described as a “snow haired Makina” for several weeks. Haru has no definite reason why this has taken such precedence, but trusts in Inei’s judgment.
Skillset
EQUIPMENT
Katana: Haru’s personal choice of weapon. He is proficient at using other weapons, but the katana is one he finds the most comfortable and effective to use, especially in pairing with Inei’s skills. He strikes chaotic and frenzied with the blade, aiming to blindside and overwhelm his opponent with speed rather than strength or calculation. Since forming a bond with Inei, he uses the katana the Makina had provided, called the Swiftblade

Kunai: Haru has decent aim with kunai but will only use them when an opponent seems to be slipping from their grasp.

Bounty Hunter Seal: Indicates his profession to others and allows him to mark/claim bounties he has completed.

SKILLS

Agility: Haru is fast and flexible. He spends time training his body for making erratic movements mid battle to dance around his opponents rather than fight them head on. He’s proficient in climbing obstacles to gain stealth as well.

Observant: Haru puts forth a facade of a vapid extrovert, but growing up with Asahi had taught him to always look out for hidden intentions in others. He keeps an eye on what people say and how they say it, storing that information for later in case it becomes of some use.

Sword Combat: Haru has been training in sword combat for years of his life, making him an extremely powerful foe to those with intermediate skills in the practice. With Inei’s contribution, this skill is pushed to an even deadlier outcome, as their speed and precision usually manage to overwhelm their more experienced and skilled opponents. His weakness in this skill is his choice of combat style, opting to forego blindsides and openings on himself in favor of bombarding his opponent with hard to counter moves in a very short period of time. Someone with a patient eye could block his attacks to draw out the fight and wear Haru down or strike at one of the quick moments where his guard is completely down.

AI Profile
Inei is very calm and calculated, serving as a very stark contrast to Haru’s lively and boisterous demeanor. His calm personality is not quite comforting so much as it is unsettling. He has a

calculated air to him, like there is always a hidden motive to every word he utters and action he commits. Haru is very easy for Inei to mold and tends to listen to his advice without a second thought. He can come off as very standoffish and cold to those who don’t know him. With time, Inei allows others to grow on him and he becomes warmer to be around, however his more subdued personality remains.

Inei wonders if there is a part of him that is programmed to be evil, as he often has dark thoughts or impulses. This is something he has in common with Haru, as they both take to the brutal and oftentimes merciless tasks of bounty hunting much too naturally. He never voices these impulses or worries to others.
Combat
EQUIPMENT
Bow and Arrow: Inei uses a bow and arrow to pinpoint an opponent's weak points and provide Haru with an advantage in combat. He also very often watches for Haru’s blind sides while he attacks to shoot and parry an attack from a more calm and calculated opponent who can sniff out Haru’s openings.

Swiftblade: A katana that Inei provides Haru for use. The material is much lighter than an average sword, allowing for Haru's chaotic style of fighting. The surface of the blade is very dull and lacks any kind of luster to allow it blend in when Inei uses creeping shadow.
ABILITIES

Air Manipulation: Inei and Haru can manipulate air. The control lends itself more to moving the shape of air rather than the force of it, or providing a buoyant spring in which Haru can achieve more dynamic movement from when in the midst of battle. They cannot use the ability for its blunt force.

Body camouflage: The material of Inei’s body can mimic the texture of his surroundings. The imitation isn’t quite perfect, so it’s most effective when he remains still in a dark environment. He uses this ability to provide backup to Haru without being seen or interrupted.

TECHNIQUES

Creeping Shadow: Inei is able to expel a heavy, ink like mist from his body, providing excellent cover for both him and Haru to strike from. He controls the mist with his air manipulation to make illusions of attacks by different beasts or even Haru himself to increase confusion. Inei isn’t sure why, but he likes creating animals out of his mist illusions to serve as companions. He can often be seen with an inky animal form by his side. His favorite form of companion is usually a bird that sits on his shoulder.

Blinding Light: Inei can trigger a reaction within his body that results in an overwhelming flash of light that blinds his opponents just long enough to disorient them and allow Haru a chance to strike.

WEAKNESSES
Inei is not very good at hand to hand combat. He learned early on that his body was not created to be durable within battle, the material it was made from was quite brittle and easier to break when compared to other Makina. He also lacks close range combat skills. Haru specializes in close range combat so Inei never felt he needed to. He relies solely on his stealth to keep him out of the line of fire in order to back up Haru. Air manipulation helps him position himself into hard to reach areas, but being unable to use it to blast opponents away when blindsided leaves him vulnerable. The most he can do is increase the pressure of air around an approaching opponent to make their moves heavy and easier to dodge.

Name:
Towa
Gender: Female
Age: 20
Awakened Date: April 20, 1615
Height / Weight: 150cm/110lbs
Appearance:
1645514273529.png
AI Profile:
Towa appears to be a well mannered and cultured young woman. She loves to take in local habits and customs. Although she cannot eat or drink. Towa is capable of preparing food that is not only delicious but also quite nutritious. Tea is her favorite thing to prepare. Whenever she has free time. Towa can be found practicing and refining her tea recipes. She is also the mouthpiece to her traveling companion. Towa tends to translate the somewhat inane or eccentric mutterings of Hide for those they interact with. Despite being articulate and classy. Towa is a Makina, a machine doll. She appreciates human culture but is very much on the outside looking in. Much like her partner, Towa has no qualms about taking life if required. Having been around Hide for long enough has given her the same understanding of how death takes from more than just the deceased. Her analytical ability far exceeds her partner and enables her to pick up more subtle things that he might miss. Towa also fails to see the difference between Makina and Daemons. To her they both simply appear to be machines imbued with artificial life.

Combat

Equipment:

Parasol Blade: Appearing to be a regular parasol from the outside. This item is actually a concealed blade. Wielded in an iaido stance and combined with her abilities. Towa is able to turn this simple tool into a deadly weapon.
Hide's Sword: A powerful gravitational blade that enables Hide to perform great feats.
Cooking Utensils: In case a hearty meal is needed to nourish a hungry Samurai.
Tea-Set: A pot of perfection cannot be brewed without the appropriate tools.

Abilities:
Gravity Manipulation: Towa is able to freely manipulate Gravity in her general area. She can increase, decrease or even completely release the hold of gravitational forces. She can only utilize one of these at a time though. Her power is enough to pin a pack of Yomi to the ground for tens of minutes at a time. Her radius was five meters upon awakening and has grown a few feet at a time as time continues to pass.
Attraction and Repulsion: Towa can manipulate forces of attraction and repulsion. She can use these to push with enough force to send a brown bear flying through a brick wall. Which in turn means she can also pull that same bear back through said wall the the exact amount of force.

Techniques:
Under Pressure: Towa rapidly increases downward gravitational force to effectively press her opponents into the ground. The average human can barely withstand twice the regular gravity. Towa can create pressure of over 10x gravity with her current abilities.
Upward Force: Towa rapidly decreases upward gravitational force to cause unprepared enemies to begin flailing about as their bodies to float and bounce about. It is also a useful tool for exploration when required.
Zero Gravity: Towa releases gravity in her general area, which causes anything not tied down to begin spiraling into the air. Only those she chooses can control their movement in this area of effect.

Weaknesses:
Single Focus: Despite being an incredibly powerful Makina with control over a fundamental force of nature. Towa is only capable of using a single aspect of her abilities at a time. This is to prevent her body from overheating and imploding from the sheer procession power required to manipulate gravity.
Long-Mid Range: Although Towa is a combat Makina with a body that can tank Tanegashima. She is effectively a long to mid-range fighter with manipulation abilities. She has no real way to counter close quarters combat and can be overwhelmed if caught of guard by an opponent closing in. She relies on Hide in order to compensate for this weakness of hers.
Gravity Adaption: Some Daemons and even the occasional human can adapt to the pressure of increased gravity if exposed to it enough times. This will prevent lower levels of increased pressure from working on them as intended. This was a technique utilized by Hide himself to train himself. It stands to think that others could also take advantage of such circumstances.
