hi, friends. my name is Lan, but feel free to call me cap, marv, dumbass, or whatever you like. in between finishing all the university homework, leaving my dreams of authorhood unfulfilled, and witnessing manmade horrors beyond my comprehension, i've picked up a little book series called "a song of ice and fire." it's pretty great so far; they should make a tv show out of it. and it's gotten me in the mood to try my hand at writing my own melting pot of backstabbing, betrayal, surprise reveals, dragons, shadow magic, mounted warfare, and knights in not-so-shining armor. if any of that sounds like your cup of dornish wine, then read on.
please read all the content in these tabs before contacting me. if you'd like to roleplay with me, please send me a pm. i will not respond to posts on this thread.
here are some things you should know about my personal roleplay mechanics.
*i have been an active roleplayer for seven years- two offsite, five here.
*i am comfortable roleplaying in pm's, threads, or on discord [please pm me for my discord id].
*i have no content triggers and am comfortable roleplaying as M or F.
*in roleplays, i write using proper capitalization [so please don't be off-put by my lack of it here] and mostly third-person past tense, sometimes third-person present tense.
*in roleplays, i usually begin by writing many, many paragraphs to establish the setting, after which my post length varies based on the scene's needs. in all circumstances, though, i will strive to match my partner's post length.
*i am usually kept busy during daylight hours due to being in university. i will do my best to respond at least once every other evening, and i will always reply eventually, but my most active days are likely to be saturday and sunday.
and here is what i am looking for in a partner.
*please be at least 18. i am not comfortable roleplaying with anyone younger than that.
*please be willing to write multiple characters. otherwise, our world might feel a little empty.
*please be willing to collaborate in any plotting, worldbuilding, etc, that the roleplay may entail. as much as i love doing it, sometimes i can't do it all by myself.
*i have no problems with waiting a while between posts, but please be up front if you're going to be away for a long time.
*similarly, please be up front if you don't want to continue the roleplay anymore.
*if you're comfortable with it, please be willing to talk ooc. i enjoy getting to know my partners, geeking out about our characters, or just sending stupid memes.
*please do not send me a pm just asking "hi, would you like to roleplay? uwu" a pm like that will result in me ignoring you. i'm sorry if that's harsh, but i value a good first impression, and i've already established that, yes, i would like to roleplay. instead, please tell me about yourself, your roleplaying history, some ideas you might already have, etc.
as the introduction tab and the disclaimer says, i'm currently itching to roleplay something very much like game of thrones, but not the actual game of thrones.
specifically, i'm interested in roleplaying in a medieval fantasy-inspired setting. (exactly how fantasy isn't set in stone; it can be as low or as high as we want.) i want to write about royal houses vying for political and territorial gain, or just trying to keep themselves together. unlikely alliances and unexpected betrayals. dangerous enemies outside the gates, and even more dangerous enemies within. noble bastards and bastard nobles. people who know how to play the kingdom's chess game, and people who don't. people who drink, and people who know things. assassinations, torture, and messy war campaigns. and maybe, just maybe, a lingering supernatural threat or two.
a few plot points we could incorporate into the story include, but are certainly not limited to:
*an arranged marriage goes wrong
*a notable ruler dies, leaving people rushing to fill the power vacuum
*a notable ruler is assassinated and an investigation ensues
*a new ruler struggles to adjust to their new duties
*a damaging secret is revealed about a ruler, important figure, or kingdom
*one kingdom asks another for help, but the helping party is attacked on their way
*one kingdom offers to help another when they really intend to harm
*one kingdom is framed for war crimes they didn't commit
if you have something else you'd like to see happen, or you think we should include none of the above, please tell me! i'd love to hear about what you think.
thanks for stopping by. if you see something you like, or want to suggest stuff to me, then please shoot me a pm. but if nothing you see here captures your fancy, then thanks for reading anyway. hope to hear from you soon.
love, --Lan
