Mission Files - OOC Talk

I'm still interested, I just don't feel that Nasoth should be the one leading the discussion with the Coalition.

I am still here. You guys have a good fourth of July?

I am still not getting notifications on posts here for some reason. I keep having to just get in the habit of regularly checking.

I'm living on the other side of the pond, so no festivities or holidays here - I hope y'all had a good time though.

I'm slightly optimistic with that charming dragon on my side - if things go wrong, we'll always have the backup-ogre to get us out of there.

Sorry I haven't been replying! I haven't been getting alerts (or maybe I did get one and forgot to reply to it ). Give me a minute to read up on what I missed and I'll have a post up.

Its ok, Psychie. It happens to us all. But if it happens again, you will be hunted down by ninjas and punished severely!

I kid. It will be pirates, not ninjas.

Mmmm...Coalition goodness.

Hope you guys have been awesome in my absence. Long story there. Nice to see the game's still going, though! Short of a fourth major disaster this year, I'm happy to jump back into it if you need/want another player. Though given the group's dealing with the Coalition at the moment, probably best Alley's keeping a low profile. ;)

Well, I had planned on introducing the Coalition going after Alley for a while, so having you along for the ride is just fine with me.

As a sidenote: Alley's plan isn't entirely the player pulling this out of her ass. As her backstory confirms, Alley's actually a specialist with power systems; it's her primary area of expertise and what she did for the Saint Louis project. Had no idea that Coalition power systems would ever come up in a mercenary game primarily in the southwest aimed at vampires but hey, niche knowledge for the win!

The spell says 'self or other by touch' so you are good to use it on someone else.

My apologies, last few days got unusually busy. Trying to clear all my work so I can leave for the Sea Dogs pirate festival this weekend. I will catch up tonight.

On a side note, while none of the post notifications seem to consistently show up on the iPhone app for me, the @soandso tags do. Got the one Psychie Psychie did this morning. :-)

As much as it offends my meta gaming sense, we may have to split up the party again to cover all these angles. They're all pretty important.

-Scout out Splugorth
-Find Sir Talbert & Marcos (gather allies)
-Keep tabs on Coalition
-Gather more information from townsfolk and others, maybe find more equipment.
-Rescue prisoners
-Optional: Hinder CS occupational forces
-Optional: Evacuate townsfolk if possible
-Optional: Prepare defenses and traps
-Optional: Scouts try to delay or hinder Splugorth forces
-Other: ????

That's a lot to do on a short "invasion imminent" time line.

What do you folks think?

I have a feeling that Sir Talbert is nearby, keeping his own watch on the Coalition forces in Haven right now. As tough as an experienced Cyber Knight is against techy opponents, he wouldn't be able to take on the forces occupying the town right now, even with the Ley Line Walker with him. He may even be in town, hiding out and gathering intel of his own. I say we scout out the townsfolk and see if anyone has any info for us. After all, we did recover quite a few people from the vampires and are riding the high of the popular support right now.

Not a bad idea. The human-looking folks in the party would have the easiest time getting around town with the CS occupation in place. Ozug would be good for scouting the outskirts or scouting out the Splugorth, but he doesn't have any knowledge of what to look for with Splugorth forces specifically.

I don't think that the prisoners should be priority at the moment - if you ask me, we're best off freeing them when the fighting has started - potentially, we can even convince the coalition to let them free if things look dire. If we try to help them right now, we won't get any kind of agreement with them.

I'd say that a few people who are familiar with weaponry etc should visit the Stonewell's: Grond, maybe Alley. Ozug is a great scout, so he should probably try to track down either the Splurgoth or Talbert. In the first case, it might be a good idea to send Atlanta with him - she might remember things that can help, and if she decides to turn against us close to her former "allies", it'd be better to let that happen before the real fighting starts. To search Talbert outside of town, we'd be best off sending one character who can deal with vampires - Liza or Nasoth come into mind. O-Ren might be the best person to stay in town, keep an eye on the coalition (since she's probably the most-respected member of the group) and ask the townsfolk for more insight.

Marcos is in prison, right? So we won't easily have access to his powers.
Sir Talbert and Underdog are missing, and Marcos is in custody along with Tony and Tia.

Also: Never split the party.

I'm also generally against splitting the party, but time does seem to be of the essence here.

Nasoth can relatively safely be split off since she has that very nice teleportation power (on top of all the other dragon craziness), and the vampires do seem to be the thing she would be best suited to handling. She also has the Magic Pigeon spell letting her send a quick message back if she gets stuck somewhere she can't leave. If we know where they are, said spell could also be used to communicate to (they can't reply) with the people we're looking for.

Nasoth would certainly be the best person to work on her own - I most proposed Liza because of the firestaff, which should suffice to get Talbert out of the biggest vampiric trouble as well if Ozug helps.

I picked up psionic invisibility for Liza - so if we want to talk to the prisoners without any kind of problems, she'd probably be the best choice. I'm a bit worried about the psi-stalker, though: Who wins that engagement? Does the stalker notice me, because I'm using psionics, or doesn't he because the psionics tell him that I'm not of interest?

And just another random question while we're at it: Does exorcism work on slaves of the Splurgoth? If yes, that'd be a reason for Liza to accompany Ozug on his scouting mission - apart from the fact that she can be stealthy thanks to her psionics as well.

The Altarian warrior women are not possessed by any force, they are just brainwashed and for the most part very loyal. Only a few of the Blind Warriors ever defect and fight against the Splurgoth.

So if I understand this plan right, Ozug and Atlanta scout the Splugorth (maybe initially support the search team if vampires are found, then split off after), Liza and Nasoth do the initial search for Sir Talbert (or at least talk to citizens and gather clues), Alley and O-Ren initially check for equipment with the Stonewells, and O-Ren does secondary duty with monitoring the Coalition, then moves to support Liza and Nasoth should they need it in the search. Grond and Alley are on defenses/backup in case things go bad (unless Alley has awesome disguise powers), and maybe plan an evacuation route for the citizens. Nasoth, via teleport, can move to support any of the local groups and can magic message each of the groups to pass along important info, and Alley can flash-speed to potentially support any group that needs it, or even warn the scouting team.

Only issue I see is that Ozug doesn't have a vehicle to do much distance scouting. It's still doable via walking, it would just suck and be slower.
