˗ ˏ ˋ ★ˎˊ ˗Magik Hero U (The App) Information!˗ ˏ ˋ ★ˎˊ ˗

Magik Hero U is the smash hit RPG that allows users to create and fully customize their very own Magik Hero to battle the forces of darkness. The game takes place in a fictional world of Light, a dreamlike and idealistic land filled to the brim with magic and all the fantasy creatures humans have ever thought of. There is no overarching storyline, however, the game is host to thousands of random interactions, quests and stories that patch together the player’s very own unique storyline. No two players will ever experience the same game.

The game is played on mobile, PC and console. However, in order to log into the pc and console games you need to have the app on a mobile device. Crossplay is enabled, and the same account can be used on all devices. The graphics are beautiful and stylish, and somehow look great on any device regardless of the device's capabilities.

The game is experienced singleplayer, except for boss fights. There is the option of using the ‘call of fate’ feature to summon up to 3 other players to help take down bosses. Of course, players can also take down these bosses solo, but it is very difficult and seen as a proof of skill in the community. There are even achievements and leaderboards for individual progress. Players with the most kills of a certain boss will have a unique title and kill-effect every time they defeat a boss.

In the game, magik powers are gained by equipping different familiars. Weapons are made via resources gathered from monsters and the world, and can be upgraded as more monsters are vanquished. Magik powers can be swapped out when outside of combat to choose unique gameplay styles. Through levelling up familiar powers, characters can grow more specialized in their fields.

Monsters!
Monsters, also known sometimes in the game as ‘shadows’, are creatures NPCs say are born of darkness and seek to destroy all that is good and light in the world. They eat hopes and dreams while spreading darkness wherever they go. Monsters start small and relatively harmless, and gain strength as they eat.

Lesser monsters: the smallest mobs in the game and the first enemies players face. They make up the bulk of mobs and are generally weak with low XP values.

Greater monster: when a lesser monster lasts for a long time and eats more dreams (or kills players) they will turn into a greater monster. These creatures are stronger than their lesser counterparts and have a lot more variety in attack and combat AI. They are smarter, capable of dodging and ambushing players who are caught off guard. The game generates almost an unlimited amount of unique greater monsters, randomizing their appearance, combat patterns, abilities, and AI. This keeps the game fresh and replayable for all.

Bosses
: Like the game’s story features, Bosses are a random event and never spawn in the same place or in a specific schedule. Some players say that there is a technique to summon them by purposely failing missions or letting monsters run rampant in an area you’re supposed to protect, but these claims are unsupported. Despite bosses spawning randomly, there are a few different bosses the game seems to rotate between. A few examples are;

<< GM note: there are more than these ones, but I am providing a few examples so your characters can reference bosses! >>

A feral and quick combatant that takes advantage of player mistakes to snowball into a chain of stunlocks. It's bleed effects an easily take down teams without any healing powers.

A durable and heavy hitting monster that can heal itself by eating players. npcs, and other monsters. Its best to clear the area of monsters before fighting this boss. If it eats enough, it will grow in size and its stomach will swell, increasing its defense.

Some in the community have started calling it Timmy based on its acronym "TIM".

A boss that is almost unkillable for low level players, The Brood is a boss that is capable of spawning waves of monsters to overwhelm players that cannot keep up. Damage to the boss will also produce pools of shadow that will spawn even more lesser monsters that if left alone will grow into greater monsters.

One of the most infamous bosses in the whole game, The Wandering End (TWE for short) is a boss that is extremely rare. In fact, it is typically only spotted once a month, but has since gathered a community dedicated to tracking it down. Based on their data it flies around a player's world for about an hour before despawning though a portal. Unlike every other boss in the game, no player has ever defeated it. Whenever it spawns, a roar can be heard across the map and the sky will darken and rain with black ash.

The boss appears as a dragon-like shadow with multiple eyes on its head and underside of wings. Its health and full capacities are unknown, as combat usually doesnt last long. It is known to destroy towns and kill swaths of NPCs before despawning from the world.

˗ ˏ ˋ ★ˎˊ ˗Northside City Locations˗ ˏ ˋ ★ˎˊ ˗

Northside High School
f67ec8899514ba9d8aee079e4ead27f4.jpg

The oldest highschool in the city, with a long history. Despite the school being old, the building itself is new. The original highschool was torn down about 5 years ago after a hurricane destroyed part of the building, revealing extensive asbestos and poisonous mold inside. It was a surprise to all its inhabitants, and lead its its immediate condemnation. The old building was demolished and a new one was built in its place, which just happened to reopen 3 years ago. Within a few years, the school was transformed from a drab looking husk into a stylish and modern hub for young minds. Within the year, its first class will be graduating.

Places inside: Library, gymnasium, classrooms, teachers lounge, student council room, assembly hall, band room, science lab, principle office, basement, courtyard, cafeteria.

Northwinds Mall

The nearest shopping center to the school, and apparently 'the best place to shop in the city!!'. It contains a pretty good food court, a spa, an arcade and a huge selection of stores. (Feel free to make up as many as you want). Its close enough to the school to be used as a hotspot for skipping class, but be warned; some store owners are on the watch for students missing out on class!

The mall's mascot is a snow goose named Snowy (or Honk-Honk by the kids), who can be seen in the entrance to the mall as a large concrete statue.

Memorial Park

A park located within walking distance of Northside High School. The meandering paths and pleasant greenery make this place a haven amidst the hustle bustle of everyday life. There are plenty of benches and gazebos that make ideal spots for rest and chit chat.

The park was renamed and refurbished in honor of all the victims of the deadly hurricane that struck Northside 5 years ago. A pond was made where a large portion of the park's trees were uprooted from the storm and has since become the favored spot for ducks, geese, and the carp donated by the Northside Watershed Protection Institute. Don't feed them bread, please!

˗ ˏ ˋ ★ˎˊ ˗Magik Hero Info˗ ˏ ˋ ★ˎˊ ˗
Magik Heroes The chosen champions of Light, who snuff out evil wherever it gains foothold and save those in need.

Every hero is capable of summoning their own unique inner power while in their EGO state. While these powers are specific, and perhaps specialized into purely defense, offense, or utility, over time as heroes become attuned to their Magik they can harness their power in new and powerful ways.

Magik Heroes are embodiments of hopes and dreams, spreading Light with their heroic actions. The more good you do, the stronger your inner light will become!

Alter E.G.O.Magik Heroes are still human, but are capable of transforming their soul energy into a more powerful and durable form, known as an Alter E.G.O. (EGO for short). Although an EGO's stamina is higher than a human's it is not invincible and is capable of injury, especially from the forces of darkness.

Thankfully, when a hero swaps back to their human form the EGO is capable of regenerating passively. When time is spent in the human form the EGO will regenerate non fatal injuries after one day has passed. None of the injuries sustained in the EGO form will show on the human form, but pain (albeit reduced) will still be felt. I believe humans call this "phantom pain".

Fatal wounds to an EGO will immediately break the transformation and switch a hero back to their human form. They will be rendered unconscious, and are as vulnerable as any human. Although EGOs do not suffer lasting effects from combat, do not be reckless. Heroes in human form can easily be killed by a subsequent attack after the fatal blow (which can sometimes be within seconds). Human forms are more vulnerable to the forces of evil and wounds do not heal at any faster rate.

Eventually heroes will be able to transform at will, but in the beginning stages may find it easier to use the app. EGO forms will automatically switch back if a hero falls asleep.

AnonymityWhen transformed, non Magik humans will be unable to recognize a hero, even if their face or voice is similar to their human form. Additionally, pictures and photos will be blurry or corrupted and audio will be distorted or changed. Only Magik heroes will be able to see the true contents.

When speaking of Magik related things to humans they will either hear you speaking something entirely different, or will seem like you said nothing at all. The same thing goes for written communication as well. This can lead to very awkward situations, so it is best not to try this.

[Updated] As a rule, heroes should keep their identities safe and address each other as their alias.

˗ ˏ ˋ ★ˎˊ ˗Familiars!˗ ˏ ˋ ★ˎˊ ˗
Familiars Familiars are creatures of Light and manifestations of a hero’s virtue (such as friendship, trust, honour, etc). As such, they are strengthened by this emotion or virtue when in combat. The more dedicated to this virtue a hero is, the stronger their familiar will become!

While familiars are an adorable and trusty companion, their most important purpose is to act as a hero’s primary defence against the creatures of darkness, or monsters as you like to call them. Each familiar is capable of transforming into a Magikal weapon unique to their hero. While in their weapon form a familiar cannot be killed or damaged in a traditional sense, but if a familiar is outside of their weapon form they can be hurt and even killed.

[[ note: as creatures of light, familiars take reduced damage from darkness and can regenerate from wounds much quicker than humans, especially from magic sources, but their small bodies make them delicate to physical damage. Familiars do not have blood, and when injured will leak a luminous substance that is most similar in appearance and behaviour as liquid nitrogen (minus the freezing)]]

Familiars also have their own inherent Magik that can be utilised when in their weaponized form. This Magik is related to their virtue, and as such is always strongest when used for actions that reflects this virtue. Familiar magic typically synchronizes with their hero, so the more connected a familiar is with their hero, the better they can use this power.

Weapon forms can only be maintained when a hero is in their EGO, and should the EGO be destroyed or swapped for the human form, a familiar will be poofed out of their weapon form. Familiars can choose to appear as a weapon or creature form when a hero is in their EGO, but can only appear as a creature when a hero is in human form.

Humans cannot perceive familiars in one of two ways; they will either be invisible/silent, or they can appear as an inanimate object. Familiars can choose what strategy suits them, but cannot change their inanimate object form appearance once chosen. If a familiar tries to antagonize a human, or draws too much attention to themselves, a human may perceive them as a common pest (such as a rat) and behave accordingly. Familiars range in size but can be no smaller than a rat and no bigger than a cat.

Other Magik heroes cannot perceive a familiar if their connected Hero is in their human form. The exception to this is if a familiar has befriended or become well known to a specific Hero, who may then see through their disguise. On the flip side, a human-form Hero can detect hidden familiars if that familiar interacts with the world too much or makes itself known in some way. Once a familiar has been spotted, they can be seen by that hero for as long as they are within the same area.

˗ ˏ ˋ ★ˎˊ ˗Monsters!˗ ˏ ˋ ★ˎˊ ˗
Monsters Monsters are horrible creatures that feed off of the negative emotions, fears, and concepts of humanity. These dangerous and thoughtless beings seek nothing more than to plunge the world into suffering and darkness.

Cores and Hearts...

This ball is known as a Core! It is made from strong negative memories and emotions the monster manifested from! Monsters often fight over hosts that are capable of creating a core, as you saw near the factory. A Core allows a monster to physically interact with the physical world and if it grows enough, it can develop its host into a Heart!
Moki
In the most simplistic terms, a Core is a source of power for Monsters and are made from powerful negative human emotions, fears or memories. Every monster seeks a Host through which it can form a Core, though not all humans are capable of producing one. Rarely, a single human could produce two. The rarity of suitable hosts means that multiple monsters may fight over a Host and some powerful monsters may seek them out and bring them back to their Lairs for safekeeping.

A Core is a precious item for monsters in two ways. Firstly, a core allows a monster to physically manifest within the human world and interact with it to create more suffering to feast on. Secondly, a well-fed Core is able to eventually grow into a Heart. This is an advanced form of Core that allows the monster to fully harvest the power from its host and create its own Lair. Unfortunately Hosts are unable to be recovered once they have transformed into a Heart.

Hearts are unique in their ability to produce new, lesser monsters that are under the bidding of the Heart's Monster. It also subconsciously influences everything within the Lair.

Lairs...

When a heart is successfully completed, a Lair is born. By overlapping the world of humans with that of Dark, a separate and strange dimension known as a "Lair" is created. Within a Lair reality becomes warped, usually reflecting the Heart's inner darkness in a way that warps reality into a twisted and macabre version of itself. Lairs will always be influenced by the negative human emotion that its monster feeds on (eg. loneliness, rage.) and will reflect this in obvious or symbolic ways. Prudent Heroes can anticipate the sorts of dangers that may lie in wait by judging what sort of emotion the Lair seems to reflect. In addition, Lairs are 97.4% guaranteed to be located in an area where this negative emotion is bountiful and easy to harvest. When a Lair has become powerful, it will even begin to influence humans in this area to feed into this emotion. [Moki is unable to give you an example at this time...]

A Lair's sphere of influence is invisible to the human eye, but it can be sensed by experienced Magik Heroes. The stronger the Heart and Lair, the stronger its signs will be. Powerful Heroes will be able to cut through the veil hiding the Lair, but newer heroes may need a bit of help getting in... or out for that matter. Reality works differently inside Lairs, and each is unique in its dangers and surroundings. Sometimes, getting lost is all it takes for a monster to wear down a hero enough to defeat them. Always be careful!
