Melisa comes from a very rich family and was raised by her grandmother she barely ever saw her parents. She knew they were part of a guild but she never knew which one. Her grandmother would tell her stories of when she was young and about the guild she was a part of, Fairy Tail. Her grandmother made a lot of friends there some she still kept in contact with. The one she talked to the most though was Wendy who was also Melisa's teacher. Her grandmother had became sickly as she got older and wasn't able to teacher magic properly so Wendy did which was where she learned sky dragon slayer magic. Even though her grandmother couldn't teach her much she was able to help her fly. Her grandmother gave her a magic broom, which she found on one of her missions when she was young. It took magic to fly it but it wasn't easy have to build up magic energy to be able to keep it in control and fly long periods of time. Melisa loved flying she would practice every day. She got pretty good at it though sometimes she would lose control. Her life was pretty good even though she didn't see her parents a lot.
But the happy times she was having would soon change. She soon got word about her parents dying on a mission they were on she was. Then a few days later when coming home one day from shopping in town she found the house ran sacked and her grandmother dead. She was completely alone now. Her mentor had moved away just a year ago so she didn't even have her anymore. Melisa cried hard realizing she had no one left to turn to or to go. She cried hard feeling completely alone and not sure what to do next. She was outside crying when a cat came up to her. His name was Artimis. Artimis is a talking cat, well actually he's human that was turned to a cat. But he never really did tell her how it happened. Soon after that they became good friends. Not sure what to do they decided to travel together. While traveling Artimis suggest she join a guild that was she wouldn't be alone and maybe even have a new family. The moment he said that she knew just the guild she wanted to join. So they headed on their way to the one guild she knew was like one big family, Fairy Tail.
