Fantasy Medieval Fantasy RP Interest Check

Karcen, Goji has a pretty specific list of magic you can utilize, and its one type of magic each. Interesting magics, though. I'm looking at basically being a cantrip wizard, lol.
Yes but I do like those that have odd paths to power having all magic users go to the same school in the same classes is a we bit dull.

They don't, though. Each school teaches specific magics, per Goji, and the magics are pretty unique. I'm looking at Magic Smith, and I've spent two RL days asking Goji questions on the mechanics. And, to his/her credit (pretty sure he's a he), the only time I've waited for an answer was while he/she was asleep, lol.

Oh perfect, now I'll feel terribly bad when harming the undead.

I won't! Poor things, death is better than slavery.

Karcen Karcen If you like odd paths to power, you might like Shadowfare magic or Magic Smithing. Or maybe Alchemy, as that could be an interesting tool, especially if he uses more traditional weaknesses (lycanthropes v. silver, etc)

We could always try to cure them or something, lol. I'll have some pretty variable, albeit semi-weak, abilities. However, I was able to determine I'd at last be able to reasonably trap doggos and small children. xD

I was talking less Harry Potter you go to magic school and more something else

Is there room for a warlock type character dnd warlock of course

I haven't actually played DnD before. Shocker, I know. Lol.

I did a basic Google search just now, and it seems Warlocks rely on a Pact of some kind?

Please do educate me on what a Warlock is, otherwise I won't be able to put together a fair or accurate response for you.

It still seems all magic users go to a magic school to learn while the branch of magic is diffrent it is still all of x magic users learn the same lessons it seems.

For this concern, there are literally hundreds of magical schools throughout the world. Each one teaches between 2-3 magical affinities due to how intensive the programs are and how many people come seeking lives with magic. As well, mentioned in my response to the rather rude girl up there, academies always teach patience and restraint to their students. The United Magical Council, which licenses the academies, is very keen on maintaining a sense of order and civility between magic users worldwide and ensuring that mages do as little damage to the world as possible.

You are free to create whatever name, location, and history for a magical arts academy for your character to have attended so long as it conforms to the basic guidelines I've outlined above.

GojiBean GojiBean A Warlock is technically a unique brand of magic user in D&D. Wizards essentially use study and latent magic in the surroundings to perform their spells, Sorcerers are inherently magical and thus provide the magic for their own abilities in exchange for lesser versatility than a Wizard but the ability to use any spell without prep. A Warlock, on the other hand, could be seen as an Arcane Cleric. Much like a Cleric or Paladin, a Warlock derives their magical power and many of their specific class features from a Pact with an <Entity>. This is not necessarily an evil entity, but it is rarely a good one, lol. Usually demons, devils, some angels/gods (usually weird ones), etc. They are also full of spam, known for using cantrip-equivalent abilities (Warlock's Blast) to perpetually bombard their enemies. Very edgy, and even more rarely played properly due to lazy DMs.

Technically, a Pact requires two-way transaction. You do <X>, I do <Y>. Most players like to focus on the I get <X> (aka Spells), but rarely like to focus on the fact they're now beholden to Pazuzu, an immortal being of virtually unknowable power and whom singlehandedly has cowed Asmodeus, a fallen God, into being his personal messenger if it comes to that. But yeah, this random Lv1 Warlock gets a freebie, right? xD

Yeah I explained it in DM in simpler terms and did mention them being reckless power seekers

Karcen Karcen Lol, fair. I'm rarely simple, but usually silly and effective. Ask Goji. I have plans.
Yeah good to have some detail though with magic being hyper specialized I assume a warlock would work differently here. So everything that warlocks are there might not apply here.

I'm interested in jumping in as my Dark Elf boi Baltana!
-reposted so you don't have to search for my post-

Baltana is a Drow (Dark Elf). In human years he is currently 25. He has long purplish-silver hair and grey eyes. He was born with only one arm and grew up with an affinity for Psionic magic, choosing instead to work with the power of his mind and casting aside any need for either of his arms. Still, even with his quick mastery, he often dreamt of "being like the others". He left home at 17 to attempt to make a deal with the Fae in exchange for his arm. Everything ended up going horribly wrong, however, and he only ended up disfiguring his existing arm. Now unable to return home, Baltana roamed the land honing his Psionic abilities even farther. No one would ever see the mistake he made...

If you have a replacement for Psionics, that's fine by me! Also, if you need any further specific info, lmk!

my poor poor friend, im not looking to win im looking for a story yes but not one where you can easly railroad us into doing what you want form the looks of the magic system and the way your inforcing character creation it appears as if you wish everyone does things EXACTLY your way, and you can't do anything unique and interesting outside of your own restrictive bubble... i can't see any room for creativity or an interesting character aside form just bog-standard RPG peeps ironically enough. as i said before your magic system literally as a DM "it no worky switch" built-in by how mana is collected thusly meaning if you really feel like it you can simply turn off the PC's abilites as if for a slap on the wrist, along with that i can't see how you can use your magic system in any creativ wasy asdie form the bog standard stuff thats in paper
I think that the restriction on magic actually helps create a deeper character, actually. Instead of basing your character on their "magical ability" and evolving them around that, you are instead forced to look deeper into your character and evolve them around a set of ideas you want your character to represent. In a way....I think Goji is trying to get us to think a bit more deeply about our characters....if you understand what I mean.

Whose system? Sorry, I can only read messages directed to the correct person, Hunter. Please refer to it as Gobi's system, as I take no credit for other people's work. Also, please read my responses before replying.

Karcen Karcen Might I suggest Magic Smith? It gets a little bit of everything. Not as finessed as the specialists, but we get more variability and potentially as much raw force or more.

*sigh* you don't understand much at all do you im trying to give you some advice and yet your seem to belive you system is apparently good... it really isn't

ok it might sound fun yes

but the biggest issue is the way mana is collected and the face areas can simply run out how can i be sure the DM isn't going to decide to simply shut down magic?

and im good at thinking up charatures just your system to too restrictive for anything interesting aside form a brooding rouge or potato pirate lizard
Funny thing I git my warlock idea through and gm being able to turn off my power is a feature of the idea

Hey guys...
How about we drop this? This is a bit of unnecessary drama that we're spurring on here...
@Huntertabbysandshark3 - If you're really interested in discussing this, I really think you should take it up the person who created it...as people who are joining the Rp, we won't be able to respond with the most accurate answers since we're not the creator...

You haven't even read his entire Character sheet apparently.

I suggest all of you who are reading this to avoid this person, a waste of time it is to teach the blind to see and the deaf to listen.

I know exactly what you mean. As an Aerolian, I'll have hollow bones and vulnerability to air magic, so I was already strongly considering the concept of some sort of magic siphon as a trump card, lol. Gobi and I are planning to talk it over tomorrow.

That's okay, I know I've reported them and I'm sure Gobi has or will by now. xD
