History:
Growing up in a small town in Arizona, there was a lot of free time. His mom worked in the market and his father in the post office. As a family, they would always go to a movie every Friday night. Even though they had seen every movie in the theater, Max still loved it.
Max decided to travel around when he became older. Saying goodbye to his folks, Max headed off to the city. The city was similar to home, just a quicker pace.
A change to say the least, but a welcome one. Max soon found work; sometimes he was a bar tender, other times an assistant to some business he couldn’t pronounce. All of them paid well of course.

Strengths:
Max is a people person to say the least. Confident enough to start a conversation with just about anyone. He is seen smiling and having a party all the time.

Weaknesses:
Max is afraid of the dark.
The man uses sarcasm to get out of awkward situations. This stems from his flight response. He flies from things he doesn’t like like or doesn’t want to do.

Edit to Backstory
Around 10, Max’s powers manifested. His first instance of using them was in a field. He was bored out of his mind. Dozing off, he dreamt of seeing something fun in the sky. Then Bam. A large firework launched into the sky. Max loved it. Not only did it get rid of the dark, but it was beautiful.
There was mostly no one around in his home town, which led Max to use his ability constantly. He always wore jeans and two shirts to accommodate for his ability.

Ability: Firework Creation
Description: Can create any kind of firework. They can be any color, design, or size. Anywhere between a small fire cracker to a massive explosion.

Strengths
Creates fireballs that can be used in any way. Can also change any firework to any thing he needs. Also can control explosions to some degree.

Weaknesses
When he uses this ability, Max’s body temperature drops. If he uses it too much, he could freeze himself.​

Max never fully understood the power of magic, but he sure thought it was cool. He often adopted a way of it, but often ended up hurting himself. He is encouraged to keep trying even though his parents and masters say it won’t help.

To those who personally know Shen, he is a kind man, always helping out. He does not talk much about his parents. Cut off all ties with his family and does what he wants. Despite all his gifts, despite all he can do, he was never good enough. Never good enough for his family, never good enough to join the army, never good enough. Because of this, Shen is always pushing himself. Pushing himself to be the best. This also has given him a lone attitude.

The very few he lets in know he is a bit of a temperamental jokester. He can joke about practically anything, then be serious and cold the next. Only those who know both sides appreciate him and do not leave.

Shen believes in the spirits and does his best to give them the respect they deserve. To give him a simple title would be a proud monk. Proud in the sense of belief in who he is

Powers:
Spirits/Energy Bending:
Shen has been gifted the ability to energy bend. His parents do not quite know how he got it. Neither of them are benders themselves. He did disappear for a year when he was young. When he came back, he was changed. No one quite knows where he went, nor does he want to talk about it.

- Using his energy bending, Shen can give bending to those who do not have it temporarily. It drains him quite a lot, but he can manage.
- Shen can project himself in an astral form that is stronger than the average man, swift, and malleable. It has allowed him to be in two places at once.
- Shen has a unique relationship with the spirits. No one can quite tell if he can control them, or if he simply speaks with them.
- He can purify spirits.
- Shen can give any knowledge he knows via his bending. While it is not perfect, he can bestow the information on the person, then it is up to them to remember.
- A final form Shen has been unable to master is the use of spirit energy. Many times he has tried to create blasts or use spirit energy as the other elements are used. Every time he has failed. Every time he has been hurt or weakened.

Weaknesses:
Shen's ability to give bending will only last a day. While he has been working on making this permanent, he is no lion turtle. He revers them as sacred. Above him, his guide even.

Shen cannot give himself bending. He has tried many times to give him fire, or earth, or any. All the times he has failed. When he attempts to use his skills, he creates a small explosion of spiritual energy.

Shen does not have a proper way of protecting himself from bending. The only thing he can do is block the bending in the same manner as he gives it; temporary. Even then, he has to get a hold of the person to do it.

Shen, being an energy bender, is strong willed. He has inner strength, an assurity of who he is. It can be wavered though. If he becomes uncertain in his skills, bending becomes useless.

Backstory:
Shen was always told he was not good enough. His mother was an earth bender in the recluse part of the nation. She married a swamp bender who she met during a trip to a city who had a new book she had not collected. Upon marriage, they moved to Kyoshi Island where they lived happily - the mother’s home land. There was no worry of invasion, there was no worry of anyone causing them harm. Only peace to live out their lives to whatever they desired. Doing so, they had two children. An older one: Jay and a younger one: Shen. Jay was skilled in water bending like his father, able to move vines, plants or other bits of water.

Shen's father always compared him to his brother; he was a natural, able to protect their town, give good crop yields and be a hero. As much a hero as he can when the Kyoshi Warriors were around. With that, Shen always lived in the shadow of his brother's accomplishments. Even when he disappeared for a year when he was 14 and came back with his spirit bending, his father still saw him as lesser. Shen then knew no matter how good he was, he wouldn't be good enough for his father. His mother never spoke up due to being afraid of him. Afraid of what Shen could now do.

Shen got a job as soon as he was old enough. Being on an island, the only ones he could get were of fishing vessels. From there, he began to travel the world, never looking back. Even with all his skills and abilities, Shen was faced with all the challenges as a normal human.
even with the few things he could do, no one ever saw him as an equal to the normal benders. It was only when he went to the northern water tribe to learn about spirits did he feels his gifts were useful. From there, he began to grow his talents. More and more each day until he was seen as an equal, maybe more.
