Why stop dreaming when you wake up?
Maeve honestly wasn't sure how she got pulled into this mess. But she supposed messes on Earth is what she dealt with, and was pretty much her job. Because the only physically different appearance of her compared to humans were her point ears, it was relatively easy for her to blend in on Earth. And because Earth was one of the nine worlds in their system, Maeve was sort of like the representative of the Light Elves of Alfheim to watch over Earth. So, while she often resided on Earth to help protect and watch over it, Maeve didn't see the need as to why.
In the past, they certainly needed the protection. They were considered one of the weakest of the nine worlds, the humans having no apparent abilities like most of the other worlds did. However, because Maeve watched over Earth on the planet itself, she noticed a change. The humans were become much more adaptable - as was one of their known admired traits as humans. There seemed to be more of them taking up the task of protecting their world. But somehow, despite Maeve feeling her presence was becoming less needed, she'd been pulled into this grouping of abnormally special humans, something that they seemed to be trying to make an actual thing, and calling the Avengers.
Maeve didn't particularly care about any of that, however, considering the Earth current threat was one that not only, obviously, threatened the Earth, but could potentially become disastrous to the other worlds should Loki get his hands on the tesseract, she figured they might need her help. They'd all been pulled in for their different abilities, though Maeve, was more so of her knowledge and because this involved something out-worldly, Fury had found her for her help in hopefully being able to know more about Loki and predict his intentions. She hadn't ever met Loki, but she did know of him. He was pretty well known in Asgard, and because Alfheim was close with Asgard, they too knew of him.

Peter was still relatively new to the whole superpowers and superhero sort of world. While he certainly enjoyed it, and it had been of course his own decision upon acquiring his newfound abilities, it was still unfamiliar to him. Though he felt like he belonged, and despite constantly putting his life in danger....that might be part of the reason that gave him such a thrill of his new job of sorts. The whole world of superheroes though was still pretty new to him though, so when he'd been approached by a man from an organization called SHIELD, he wasn't quite sure what to make of it. But hearing they could use his help, and it wasn't just citizens of New York that were in danger, but possible the entire world, he didn't hesitate to take up the job, despite still not really knowing what exactly he'd be fighting and doing.
All he knew was his help was needed, and he was more than glad to give it and help however he could. He was sure he would learn more about this organization and what was happening when he got to where they were all meeting up, apparently. He also guessed that because he was relatively new to the superhero world, that he was one of the more recent emerging heroes of New York, which is why they'd come to him - along with others - for the help they were looking for. And the fame was certainly something Peter was not used to. He didn't mind it, of course, and loved seeing himself as one of the heroes in the newspaper and on the front pages - even with a mask on. It was so different to his secluded, quite and basically invisible life before this.
Currently, Peter was on board the large...ship, of sorts, as he was in awe as he walked around being lead by this Russian woman, who was pretty blunt, and not much of the joking type. Of course, Peter was still dressed up in his suit, much as when he had been found by a member of SHIELD recruiting his help on behalf of Fury's request. So far he'd done well not to let anyone known about who he really was, and he planned to keep it that way. His other life, as he considered it, his normal student life, was so much different than this one, he couldn't imagine the two of them clashing and becoming one, so he intended to remain known to the world only as Spiderman.
