"I think we all remember what happened ten years ago. At the time, The People's Republic of Rosefelt had been in a longstanding stalemate with it's neighboring country, The Grand Astrial, for the past 5 years. The reason? A large deposit of Ashfort Diamonds-- The world's leading energy supplier for cybernetics-- was discovered directly on top of the border of both countries. As a result, the two were debating over which side it belonged to. But, despite tense relations, discussion seemed peaceful. Nobody was expecting the first bomb to land directly in the town of Rosehalt, Rosefelt's capital. Thousands died from the initial impact, and thousands more from the rotten air and dangerous debris. Retaliation was futile-- With most government officials being wiped out with the capital, Rosefelt's government collapsed, and with it, the people's sanity. Three more bombs dropped over the course of a month, and soon, the once prosperous and beautiful city I called home was destroyed. Bodies lined the streets. Those that were lucky enough to survive were horribly disfigured, crafting cheap cybernetics called Augments to appear more normal. They became more recluse, less trustworthy, only looking out for themselves. We all did what we had to do during the chaos.
Meanwhile, there was one who took advantage of our momentary weakness: Emperion Corporation. The wealthy swooped in like vultures, buying old homes and businesses, turning them into their own personal cash cows: Clubs, banks, technology, shopping centers.. Nobody can deny they helped. If not for them, most of the city would be an empty ghost town. It didn't take long before they made their way into politics. Miles Emperion, E-Corp CEO, was elected mayor not long after. But now they've locked everyone in an inescapable tomb of debt, forcing the weak and poor into hiding. We're not welcome here anymore. I was just a kid; 15 years old. Lost my parents and most of my friends to the blast, not to mention my leg. Even though life was returning to this place, things were different. With resources scarcer than ever, those that didn't have a family-- Like me and my sister-- were shunned. Nobody wanted us. Nobody would hire us. Nobody would take care of us. All because of the pipe dream E-Corp sold to the unsuspecting masses-- 'If you just worked hard enough, you wouldn't need our help.' We went days without food-- There were times I wished I had been taken out with the bomb so I wouldn't have to suffer.
But that was ten years ago, and since then, we've learned to survive on our own. Independent of the greedy and controlling hands of E-Corp.
My name is Reggie Cotton. Me and my sister, Ursula, have this small group of kids-- Kids like us-- With nowhere else to go. It's rough, but we make it work. We have food, power, and hot water. You can find us in The Cavity; You got what it takes to survive, and we might just have a bed for you."
In the past one thousand years, human beings understanding and limitations of the human condition has soared to new heights, equipping them with impressive cybernetic enhancements for both longevity and performance. This technology is translated not just through people, but the places too, and how they interact with the rest of society. After Rosehalt was blown off the map, and E-Corp helped rebuild what was lost, New Rosehalt was born.
"Emperion Corporation - Innovation, Design, and Quality Living for all."
The 'wealthy' part of New Rosehalt. E-Corp's headquarters can be found here, along with most of their employees living nearby. Streets are clean, the air is fresh, and the infrastructure is glittering.
"Rough around the edges with a heart of gold."
The more impoverished area of town, and ground zero for the first bomb that dropped ten years ago. Despite efforts to rebuild, poverty is commonplace, and here, everyone's just trying to get by.
"Everything has a price. Even people."
New Rosehalt's shopping district, also considered to be the 'middle class' area of town. Need some new E-Corp tech, a repair for your robo-arm, or a good meal? You'll find it here.
"They may have forgotten us, but we're still here. That's what matters."
"We're family, no matter what."
Age: 25
Position: Leader of the Lost Youth
Augments:
- Cybernetic right leg, increasing speed and agility.
Bio: Born and raised in New Rosehalt. Reggie was 15 when the bombs hit Rosefelt's capital, losing both his leg and his parents. When E-Corp took over, he and his sister Ursula had nowhere to go, growing up in poverty for most of their lives. When the landing site for the first bomb was renamed 'The Cavity,' he began taking in other kids like him. Over the years, he's been compared to something of a father; Being the groups main provider by scavenging for food and equipment.
Personality: Do no harm but take no shit. Reggie is a soft soul with a short temper. Unlike his sister, he often acts on impulse and emotion, launching himself into harms way without a second thought. He believes in the concept of an eye for an eye; If someone wrongs you, you're well within your right to retaliate. He harbors a deep resentment for Miles Emperion, CEO of E-Corp, believing him to be the reason for the rampant poverty in The Cavity. He has a strong bond with everyone in the group, and considers them to be his only family.
Likes: Energy drinks, sleeping, the rain.
Dislikes: E-Corp, most other people, chocolate cake.
"..."
Age: 21
Position: Mechanic/Technician
Augments:
- Two cybernetic hands, increasing strength and precision.
Bio: Ursula was 11 years old when the bombs dropped. Thanks to her brother, Reggie, she managed to escape the wreckage of their home, but not before losing both hands after being trapped under the debris. She created Reggie's new leg, and frequently works on most of the groups augments, gear, and equipment.
Personality: Strong, silent, and observant. Ursula values her privacy and rarely likes to be disturbed, especially when she's working. In conversation, she prefers to listen, but can come off as insightful given the context. She chooses her words carefully, and will often be the 'big sister' of the group. Ursula likes to handle stressful situations with calm, calculated precision, analyzing each outcome before making a move. Most of the time, though, she may seem quiet or reserved. Despite her cold exterior, she loves and cares very deeply for her brother.
Likes: Strawberry gum, cigarettes, motorcycles, techno music.
Dislikes: Loud noises, the color yellow, dark soda.
"C'mon Reggie, let me help! I'm strong enough, I swear!"
Age: 16
Position: Hacker/Coder
Augments: None
Bio: Jean joined the Lost Youth three years ago after her parents passed away from complications caused by the bombs dropping. Beforehand, she worked alongside her father in a small technology repair shop, ridding people's items of viruses. The short time spent on the street before joining the Lost Youth, Jean would hack into the bank accounts of various E-Corp employees and drain them of their assets. Though, she has (reluctantly) given up on that endeavor after catching an earful from Reggie. (Something about it being too dangerous, blah blah blah..) Now, she helps Ursula repair the groups items whenever they become damaged, and helps Reggie navigate the dangerous terrain of The Cavity using a remote controlled drone.
Personality: Bubbly, optimistic, and bright, Jean rarely fails to bring a smile to the faces of the other youth. Despite losing her family, she remains cheerful, and where Ursula is the big sister, Jean is the little sister. She desperately craves the validation of others, and regularly nags Reggie for a 'real' chance to prove herself. However, she tends to cry rather easily, especially when talking about her parents.
Likes: Cute things, the color pink, any sweet food.
Dislikes: Boys, the dark, almond milk.
"I'll burn before you bury me."
Age: 19
Position: Pyrotechnic
Augments:
- One left augmented forearm, used as a control panel for his various fiery creations.
Bio: Philip was born in The Grand Astrial, but later moved to New Rosehalt to (initially) take advantage of the chaos years after the bombings. As a tech junkie, it was the perfect opportunity to snag some high-end E-Corp technology in order to turn a profit once the dust cleared. When he arrived in The Cavity, he teamed up with a small-time gang called the 'Molar Caps,' a nod to the area's namesake. Philip was known in the gang for helping start contained fires in order to draw attention away from their looting endeavors. However, once local authorities caught wind of their hideout, Philips stash was destroyed, and he was no longer able to return home since relations with his home country crumbled. He joined the Lost Youth a little more than a year ago, and now helps Reggie on various scavenging trips.
Personality: Charming, playful, and energetic, Philip is an adrenaline junkie through and through. Similar to Reggie, he acts on impulse and lives for the thrill of danger. He often acts as a devils advocate and pushes people to their limits. At heart, he loves the company of others, and craves a partner to join him in his criminal activity-- A modern day Bonnie and Clyde. He's a rampant flirt, though horribly chauvinistic. For the most part, though, Philip is just like the other youth: Lost, young, trying to survive.
Likes: Ursula, sunlight, fancy technology.
Dislikes: The cold, bees, puns.
"Luxury, Quality, Trustworthy... Emperion."
"With hard work, you could be me one day."
Age: 42
Occupation: E-Corp CEO/Mayor of New Rosehalt
Augments:
- Prototype cybernetic eyes, manufactured by E-Corp. Their exact function is unclear.
Bio: This corporate mogul likes his privacy-- Apart from his history in New Rosehalt, little is known about his origin. Though, rumors are constantly circulating throughout town-- That he's secretly an ambassador for The Grand Astrial, and was the one who escalated the bombings ten years ago. Now, he's gained power in the hopes of climbing the political ladder, all the while informing them of other potential diamond deposits. ..All just vicious rumors, he assures. Despite this, he is well liked in the community, save for private groups like the Lost Youth.
Personality: Calm, cool, collected, and professional. Miles Emperion spares no expense when it comes to an expertly crafted facade of charm, deceit, and a sly silver tongue. Coupled with his devilishly handsome good looks, he can make almost anyone bend to his will. Despite his undeniable influence and power, in typical conversation he comes off as harmless and unassuming. Though, on the inside, he is an emotionless, cold snake, always looking for a way to gain the upper hand in any given moment. He radiates an aura of dominance, and makes it clear he is a force to be reckoned with.
Likes: Reading, high quality cigars, mint ice cream.
Dislikes: Wasting time, cats, The Cavity.
"Patience, darling. Rome wasn't built in a day."
Age: 35
Occupation: President of the Cyber-Security Division at E-Corp
Augments:
- Dermal implants in the face, allowing her to morph her facial structure in order to alter her appearance.
Bio: Shayla was around for Miles' not-so-humble beginnings as a politician, volunteering for his campaign as a cyber-security adviser. Shortly after he won the election, she was offered a job at E-Corp, and has been working alongside Miles for 6+ years. But like her co-worker, Shayla's past also remains a mystery to those who don't truly know her. Among the rumors of Miles being a double agent, similar accusations are said about Shayla: She's an agent for The New Republic of Rosefelt, investigating the allegations of Miles being a war criminal. Ms. Carlile has declined to comment on these allegations or their possible implications.
Personality: All work, and no play. Shayla takes her job and career very seriously, and never makes time for leisurely activities. She aims to complete whatever task she's given, no matter the cost, believing the ends justify the means. She is rarely away from Miles' side, as the two share a trustworthy bond. She walks tall and speaks boldly, never afraid to call things as they are. Like most benefiting off the hard work of others, Shayla comes off as a pompous aristocrat. At the core, her true nature is kept under lock and key.

The robotic whirring of Reggie's mechanical leg is unmistakable beneath his torn jeans as he approaches the projection terminal of his bunker. A handful of miles away from where he now stands, a flashing neon sign is crudely stuck to a crumpled lightpost. The sign sputters and blinks in the dark of night, casting purple light across the empty, muggy alleyway. At one point, it's clear the words used to say 'Lovestein Robotics' - Presumably an old establishment that fell into obscurity years ago. Now, the light blinked a somber 'Lo st '. A small screen has been rigged up to it as well, and when you press the big red button on it's surface, immediately the light on Reggie's terminal lights up. Someone's trying to contact him after all. A light washes over him, and the screen blinks to life, showing his curious face. Upon seeing you, he raises a brow, crossing both arms over his chest.Name?:

After you've finished your tale, Reggie's digital self nods approvingly.
"I see. Well, I appreciate your honestly. A map should be on the screen now-- See the big red X? I'd say head there now but, uh.. tonight's no good. Go there in about three days, okay? See you then."
My first game, The Configuration, died in it's infancy. It was never completed, and half of my players for that game lost interest before we ever reached the ending for the first arc. After putting a lot of time and effort into making it, it was pretty disheartening. That being said, do NOT apply for this game if you know you will not see it through to the end. If you're someone who likes hop from game to game for a short period of time, losing interest in one when you find another, please do not join this one. I cannot stress this enough.
I'm looking for players who are detailed in their writing and are interested in a long-lasting game. Anyone that joins this game, I expect you to post at least once a week, and stay to the end. I need players who are active and readily available.
This game won't have as strict of a plot like my previous one-- There is a beginning, there is an ending, but how we get from point A to point B is up to you, the player. Of course I will oversee major decisions, and if something goes screwy, I'll intervene. Is there something specific you'd like to see happen? Talk to me first, and maybe we can fit it in somewhere.
- Posts will be a minimum of 2 paragraphs made up of 5 or more sentences.
- Don't be a jerk.
- Romance is allowed, but keep it PG. No fade-to-black scenarios.
- This game is LGBTQ+ friendly. I will not tolerate homophobia, transphobia, etc. etc.
- I will not tolerate any form of racism/xenophobia etc. etc.
- No OP characters. Use your better judgement.
- No killing of other characters, godmodding, or autohitting unless specifically said otherwise.
- Multiple characters are allowed, but no more than 2.
- Characters can be from Rosefelt, The Grand Astrial, an Ex-Emperion employee, etc. etc. Just keep your backstory realistic.
(The Grand Astrial is similar to Rosefelt in that it's a cyberpunk/futuristic country. If your character is from there, you're free to interpret it's individual towns/cities in any way you like. Additionally, characters can NOT currently work for E-Corp.)
