(Opening monologue for "The Great Hunt") Welcome to The Great Hunt! TerraNuvia, A world of possibilities....and danger. To be honest we probably should have scouted the world out a little more than we did before beginning work on the colony. But oh well. What's done is done. Now we just have to keep the monsters out. Luckily we have our heroes and saviors, The League of Hunters. Brave men and women who leave the safety of the walls and try to thin out the ever-growing herd of dangerous creatures lurking on our beautiful planet.

The Ranking System

Monsters are all placed into a certain class based on their rarity and how dangerous they are. They are based on a letter system.

D Class monsters (Lowest- Highly common and/or extremely weak)

C Class ^

B Class |

A Class v

S Class (Highest*- Extremely Rare and or Powerful (tends to be both))

Uniques (Only one is known to be in existence. Tend to be Incredibly dangerous and avoided at all costs)

The Hunt Itself

Hunts are a weekly event that begins on each Saturday (in game) and lasts 12 (in game) hours. The citizens of the city watch them on their televisions. Every hunter has a floating camera that follows them during the hunt and records their every move. These can be watched live which many people choose to do. Citizens are able to switch who they are watching on the fly (sort of like Twitch.tv if youve ever used that service) and can see how many people are viewing each hunter. Popularity tends to snowball in this sense. That doesn't mean new hunters cant get noticed. The highlight reel at the end of every hunt is the most popular thing about the hunt and is compiled by a group of dedicated judges who watch over the hunt and find the best moments. This reel has launched many careers over the years.

The City

The city is split up into 3 different districts. The Residential district, Financial district, and Hunters' district. As hunters can be prone to dangerous outbursts and require frequent medical attention, they have been assigned their own district of the city. The housing in the Hunters' district ranges from standard apartments to opulent mansions.

Personal vehicles are banned in the city for all residents and everyone is forced to use public transportation. Because everyone relies on this system it is very well maintained. The trains run on time and taxis are everywhere. Hover technology makes these modes of transportation not only quicker but more efficient.

The average citizen of the city is decently well off. Poverty is a rarity but not completely unheard of. Because there is an abundance of jobs to be performed, work is not very hard to come by.

Serum

Serum is the drug utilized by hunters to strengthen and gain control over their mutations. Without it many have very limited use of their abilities if any at all. Small doses of serum are recommended during hunts as the drug is very addictive and has several detrimental effects on the user. This recommendation is often ignored however as more serum allows for more impressive use of the hunter's skills.

(EFFECTS OF SERUM)

Long term exposure to serum may cause delusions and hallucinations. A hunter's mental state may begin to break down after long periods of time without frequent cleanses.

An overdose of serum may cause a hunter to have violent outbursts and even attack those that they care about and call friends. Another possible effect of an overdose may be loss of consciousness and even coma.

Because serum has effects on a hunter's mental state many of them choose to retire after an average of 10 years of active hunting. It is very rare to see an elderly hunter. It is generally agreed upon in the community that after 10 or so years a hunter should step down. They risk becoming a danger to not only themselves but others as well.
